Orangutans live in Borneo and Sumatra, though at one time their habitat ranged from Southeast Asia to Southern China. They are at high-risk of extinction and have protected status. Their major risk factors are human intrusion with logging, mining, and farming.

Orangutans have many characteristics in common with human beings and, in fact, “orangutan” means “person of the forest” according to Orangutan Foundation International. At that site, you can learn almost anything you might want to know about this colorful creature.
