How did they do that? (notice the storyboard!) About 60 hours of work for a 20-second clip…stop-motion is a very lengthy task!

IT IS A BIT RIDICULOUS!!! But each time I watch this video, I laugh like a school girl. Yeah, Lavie is pretty handsome, but I love this video because it makes me believe in music videos again. Lately, everything has beensucking so hard (i mean it), not just music videos but songs as well. So, Lavie’s gentle elegance and soothing voice over his lovely, string-stickened melodies have made me a believer once more. This is really, really a breath of fresh air, so creative and imaginative.

Sobre este tema podíamos hablar una eternidad y probablemente no lleguemos a un consenso.  En la música se tocan temas de amor y frecuentemente de desamor… el tema del abandono aflora por todos lados! Bueno, en este post quisiera apostar por algo distinto: esta vez no hay abandono y ella o él se queda. Es más, despiertas y está a tu lado al día siguiente. Obviamente, a esta altura de la propuesta cruzan por la mente el tema de las greñas, el mal aliento y etc, etc, etc; pero a lo que voy es que, al margen de todo lo malo que uno pudiera siempre sazonar la imagen, siempre queda un sustrato positivo, como el simple hecho de gozar al ver dormir a tu pareja durmiendo plácidamente a tu lado y en tu cama. En ese sentido, siguiendo el tema dominguero que comento Pinnapplemusicsyndrome la semana pasada, quiero compartir con ustedes este video de Oren Lavie, que si bien no es nuevo y pertenece no solamente a la etapa pre-blog sino también a la pre-#Jdmn; estoy seguro de que en su tiempo, de haber tenido el espacio que comparto con tan grandes amigos, sería “música nueva” de todas maneras. Por otro lado, no puedo dejar de admirar lo espectacular que es el video. Está realmente muy bien trabajado.  Espero que les guste y les deseo buenas vibras!

(Which I happened to snag FREE off iTunes!)

I love this video because it narrates the girl’s life and struggles from a mattress. With clever use of sheets, pillows, socks, and other household items, the viewer gets the feeling of being in her dreams (hence the mattress).

Stop motion is so cool to me because you can create “imaginary” motion – like riding a bike, dancing, and walking down the stairs – simply by taking thousands of pictures and “animating” them. The amount of time, dedication, and planning that it takes to create a stop motion video is astounding and really makes you smile knowing that all artists aren’t using the same formula for their videos, but really are thinking creatively. (As they should.)
