Uauu não ? Humilhou o coitado do Harry Potter. Maaas, vamos logo comentar a Premiere de Lua Nova que agitou Los Angeles na noite do dia 16. Quem estava nas grades do tapete vermelho chorou, gritou, pegou autógrafo e tirou muita foto. Quem acompanhava a transmissão ao vivo através dos feeds de vídeo do MySpace também choravam, mas porque não estavam lá. haha…eu acompanhei pelo canal E! e foi tudo liindo!

O elenco todo, incluindo lobos, vampiros e humanos, apareceu para saudar os fãs. As bandas que participaram da trilha sonora também marcaram presença. Os primeiros a chegar foram Nikki Reed (Rosalie), Elizabeth Reeser (Esmee), Michael Welch(Mike), Justin Chon (Erick), Peter Facinelli (Carlisle) e Boo Boo Stewart (Seth). Mais tarde, Ashley Greene (Alice) desfilou no tapete com um vestidão vermelho lindo e Kellan Lutz (Emmett) e Jackson Rathbone (Jasper) também causaram gritaria.

Dakota Fanning também arrasou no pep-toe (ATOORO!) e o vestido ‘glamour’ rendado! Mas foi ele, Robert Pattinson, chegar para a gritaria começar pra valer. O ator, entusiasmado, saiu do carro e foi direto para a galera, autografar livros, pôsteres e tirar fotos com as fãs. Os seguranças tiveram que trabalhar muuuito e quanto segurança tinha hein ? Uauu..mal dava pra ver o coitado do Pattison no meio de tanto guarda-costas. As fãs estavam enlouquecidas!

Não deu tempo nem de respirar direito e lá estava outro ator que faz a gente suspirar muito: Taylor Lautner. Lindo, vestido igual gente grande, com o cabelo super bem arrumado e o sorriso mais perfeito do mundo:

A última a chegar foi Kristen Stewart, que havia acabado de participar do programa “Late Night With Conan O’Brien” e correu para a premiere. A atriz também foi para o meio das fãs para dar autógrafos… Aliás, que vestido lindo foi esse? Um Oscar de la Renta ma-ra-vi-lho-so! E segundo ela, que em suas próprias palavras disse que não sabe muito sobre moda e nome de estilistas, relatou ter adorado seu Oscar de la Renta, por ser um estilista que ela realmente conhece e admira. Ela ainda completou dizendo que apenas um Oscar de la Renta serviria para uma noite de gala como aquela, a sua primeira!

Entre os famosos que apareceram na premiere estavam os atores do seriado “Glee” e “Grey’s Anatomy”, a atriz Jennifer Love Hewitt, Emma Roberts, Joan Jett e Emilie De Ravin. (em breve fotos dos convidados) … Xoxo

So the other day, I wrote a review for Grazia on the red carpet outfits of the New Moon premiere in LA. Unfortunatley, they didnt pick my pieces to print (sad face), so insted, Im posting a couple of them here for you guys!

Kristen Stewart: Love the Oscar de la Renta dress, but why didn’t she stick to something a little more her? I miss the quirky clothes and nonchalant attitude! Next time, I think she should stay away from the princess attire.

Ashley Greene: Absolutely divine! The red looks amazing on this raven haired beauty. Simple hoops, top off the look. I also hear she’s wearing Brian Atwood heels. She stole the show from K-Stew in my style book!

Dakota Fanning: Viva Valentino! Dakota looks exquisite in her vampy Valentino mini dress. Age appropriate and with sleek hair she is a style winner. Look at those heels! They are to-die-for. Best dressed on this red carpet.

Anna Kendrick: Pretty girl dressed ready to party. Anna’s mini dress is fabulously fun and flirty. There will be copies of this dress hitting the High Street faster than you can say Kristen Loves Rob.

Origin Assured is an initiative that approves retailers and manufacturers coming from a country where welfare regulations or standards governing fur production are in force.

Their recent campaign is supported by renowned fashion designers. Oscar de la Renta said: “Buying Origin Assured furs removes a lot of questions for the customer. It allows her to buy fur with confidence.” Karl Lagerfeld adds: “An Origin Assured fur is timeless and fashionable like a ready-to-wear piece. The woman’s sense of style is enhanced by beautiful materials.” The campaign is also supported by Roberto Cavalli and John Galliano.

The question if wearing fur is ethical or not has been a controversy since decades between the fashion industry and organizations such as PETA.
My question is: If wearing fur is unethical wouldn’t eating meat, fish and wearing leather be as unethical as wearing fur? A poll sponsored by the Vegetarian Resource Group showed that only 2.5% of the US population can be considered vegetarian. Considering the price points for fur fashion products in department stores such as Barney’s, Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue it is crystal clear that the meat and fish consumption outnumbers the purchase of fur products significantly.

Katsui graduated from Central Saint Martins College after studying at Parsons The New School for Design. Yagi graduated from Doshisha University and Central Saint Martins College.
The brand, mintdesigns was launched in 2001. They have been in Tokyo Collection since ‘03 S/S. The awards they won include the Moet et Chandon New Designer’s Award in 2005. In 2007, mintdesigns garage store opened in Shibuya PARCO. They presented their collection in the 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT THIS PLAY! show. In 2008, they presented the opening show at São Paulo Fashion Week for ‘09 S/S. Both designers currently hold positions as guest professors at the Faculty of Art and Design at Osaka Seikei University. In 2009 they presented their collection at the Milano Salone TOKYO FIBER ‘09.Mint Designs turned out a dainty crop of dresses featuring details such as shimmery stripes, textured fabric and quirky graphics. One frock featured a darling print of tiny Charlie Chaplins, while another showcased circular cutouts along the sides.

Kristen Stewart es una de las actrices del momento, gracias al filme New Moon. Aunque hemos visto a la actriz con estilos rockeros, ha tenido varios aciertos de vestuario para el estreno de la cinta. Como este de Oscar de la Renta, de la colección Crucero 2010.

Aunque Kristen luce espectacular con este vestido de tul, nos habría hecho alucinar con joyas menos discretas que la pulsera que lleva puesta y quizás un pelo más estiloso. Pero, ojo: aún así, se ve radiante.

Oggi è stato il grande giorno: dopo lunghe attese, voci di corridoio e pettegolezzi, articoli, recensioni, anteprime e chi più ne ha più ne metta è uscito il secondo capitolo della saga di Twilight: New Moon. Ma non siamo qui a parlare del film! In attesa di vederlo nei prossimi giorni, per ora ci limitiamo a parlare della premiere che si è svolta lunedì a Los Angeles e dei vestiti che abbiamo visto sfoggiare dalle amate/odiate protagoniste del film…

Prima fra tutti  Kristen Stewart, che interpreta Bella Swan anche se mi sembra superfluo specificarlo! Ha sfoggiato un abito stile principessa di Oscar de la Renta collezione Spring 2010… bello l’abito, anche se magari io avrei visto su di lei qualcosa di diverso e magari più corto. I capelli continuano a non piacermi, ma giustifichiamo la nostra Kristen solo in virtù del fatto che ha un buon motivo per tenerli così!

La meravigliosa Dakota Fanning (a me piace moltissimo!), che interpreta Jane, una vampira al servizio dei Volturi, ha optato per un abito di Valentino spring summer 2010 che le stava d’incanto. Esprimo qualche riserva sulle scarpe visto che i maxi plateau non mi piacciono molto, ma lei è proprio bella.

Last night saw the premiere of the latest film in the Twilight saga, New Moon. The hotly anticipated film opens here this Friday, and stars Kristen Stewart and the lovely Robert Pattinson as loved up Bella and Edward. Although not all the Wardrobe girls agree with me about Pattinson!

Kristen Stewart wore a beautiful Oscar de la Renta gown, a huge contrast to what she wore to the Teen Choice Awards.

It may almost be the end of the year but it is not yet late to grab yourself some of this season’s essentials. This season is all about colors, materials, and patterns. But it doesn’t stop there. I am talking about striking color combination, rich materials, and elegant patterns.

Colors

A few designers have come up with a bizarre idea of clashing flaming colors such as red and pink. However, paired with safe neutrals like black, the result is stunning. Other raging colors that are popular this season are pink, orange, and burgundy. While fall/winter colors such as black, gray, brown, and blue are also popular. To add brightness to those dark colors,  try adding light or bright- colored accessories to your outfit.

Materials

Bold colors are made even bolder with rich, pronounced materials. During the fall fashion show, different designers used variety of materials – chiffon, organza, silk, wool. In the real world, sequins, leather , and laces are dominating.

Sequins are not my favorite. They remind me of fish scales. A sequined skirt may look dazzling on the runway but may give a bad impression on the streets. However, an accessory with nicely done sequins is not bad like this Kate Spade El Morocco Paola clutch. It is surprisingly smooth and soft.

You can also look for smaller sequins like what these sequined shorts from Forever 21. They look shimmery and from afar, the sequins are not obvious at all.

If I am not comfortable wearing sequins, I am sure a lot of people are not comfortable wearing clothes made of leather. In exception to jackets, leather is conventionally made into shoes and other accessories. Not everyone can wear a leather skirt or top without being thought of as a dominatrix. Last summer though, Angelina Jolie showed up on the premiere of Brad Pitt’s movie wearing a leather dress from Michael Kors. I must say it was far from freaky. Angelina’s queenly poise and Michael Kors subtle elegant design were a perfect team.

Slip into a pair of skin-tight dark leather pants and you’ll be amazed at how much slimming effect it could give you. In this tough economy, pleather (plastic leather) or man-made leather is a wiser choice.

Although sequins and leather may get skeptical frowns from many, laces are probably more favored by most women. They speak of femininity and bring a romantic effect on any piece of clothing. Rummage through your closet and try to find some lacy skirt or tops, if not go shopping for one. There are  easy to find and affordable.

Patterns

Unlike the colors and materials popular this season, the patterns are more mellow and vintage. You will see a lot  plaid and  patterned tights.

Traditionally, plaid is just a design for Scottish kilts. But in the world of fashion, it is made popular by Burberry. I personally associate plaid designs with Burberry – classic, subtle, and elegant.  But this season, you need not wear a kilt or buy an expensive Burberry coat to show off your favorite plaid. Used in scarves, jackets, skirts, and even dresses, there are so many ways to display this design.

On the other hand, floral designs are everywhere especially among women’s clothes. This season though, floral designs are popular in stockings, tights, or pantyhose. These neglected articles of clothing are finally given attention and yes, with floral designs and other patterns, they are quite eye-catching. Some stockings get out of hand from all those bold and colorful lprints but stay safe buy choosing prints that have the same color as your tights.

These Leg Avenue Bohemian print tights are just too much to handle. The swirly details create a not-so-good hypnotic effect.

Pick these Betsey Johnson Rose Garden patterned tights instead. The floral designs are noticeable enough but not too distracting to the eyes.

If floral patterns do not suit you, try even simpler patterns like these Banana Republic diamond patterned tights.

Inasmuch as it is important to buy classic designs and keep your own style, a little dash of trendy stuff will not hurt. Besides, trends come and go. You’ll never know when you need to use those argyle socks again.

COCO CHANEL

Coco fue una mujer independiente con un sentido genial de estilo y elegancia, y más allá de eso, alguien muy original. Entre sus clientes habituales estaban celebridades de los 50 como Brigitte Bardot, Katherine Hepburn, Jackie Kennedy, Elizabeth Taylor, Grace Kelly o Marilyn Monroe.

Creía firmemente en que la elegancia de la ropa significa “libertad al moverse”; por ello introdujo el pantalón en la moda femenina de la época hasta la actualidad. También son más que famosas sus aportaciones como el Chanel Suit, el suéter con cuello de tortuga, las gabardinas y las french coat (antes solo para hombres).

MANOLO BLAHNICK

Este diseñador de zapatos canario dejó los estudios para mudarse a París con la intención de estudiar arte, aunque finalmente fue en Londres donde conoció a la editora de Vogue que le animó a lanzarse como diseñador de zapatos.

En 1971 se va a New York donde presenta a la editora de Vogue un portfolio donde había dibujos y diseños de sus zapatos. Asombrada por su talento, esta mujer fue quien le convence para dedicarse al diseño de calzado.

Comienza a diseñar y hacer zapatos para Zapata y más tarde para los diseñadores Ossie Clark, Perry Ellis, Carolina Herrera, Oscar de la Renta y Galliano. Pero su gran salto se produce cuando en la serie “Sexo en Nueva York” la actriz principal se declara adicta a sus zapatos.

Hoy en día, sus zapatos tienen nombre propio, los Manolos, y son codiciados por todo tipo de mujer.

LOUIS VUITTON

Actualmente es una empresa francesa que diseña ropa y complementos de lujo, fundamentalmente de cuero ; y principal patrocinador de la Copa América. Fue fundada, como su nombre indica, por Louis Vuitton.

Dice la leyenda, que Vuitton fue aceptando todo tipo de trabajos a lo largo de su larga travesía hacia París, donde comenzó a escribir su propia historia y la de la moda, especialmente a partir de ser descubierto por Napoleón III, quien lo contrató al servicio de su esposa, Eugenia de Montijo.

Su primer diseño, fueron sus ya famosos baúles con las inciales de su nombre, LV, aún de moda en la actualidad. De ahí siguió con sus más que conocidos diseños de bolsos y por último de ropa y complementos.

I spent the last three days in the Dominican Republic celebrating the marriage of my good friend uber chic Ana Maria Pimentel (Accessories Director of Bazaar Magazine in the US) and the handsome and extremely charming Roderick Hood.  Anyone who knows Ana Maria knew that the fashion quotient would be high and you had better bring your best game to town.  How she managed to stay looking fresh as we all melted in the humidity is something we are investigating, she must have made some exclusive deal with the Goddess of Orchids (she can secure an exclusive like no other).  The more humid it got the more radiant she became and she had a glint in her eyes of a woman who knows something you have not yet discovered.

People from all corners of the world came to celebrate this union and the beauty was astounding.  The guests consisted of editors, designers, ambassadors and bankers a mix of beautiful women and devastatingly handsome men.  The festivities began at the beautiful home of Amelia Vicini  who was dressed in a vintage caftan that belonged to her late mother (one of the chicest women on record). Fast forward to the end of the night and it was like Woodstock in the tropics!  Yes there was mud involved and beautiful dresses were ruined in the pool.  The joy was palpable and we knew something extraordinary was taking place.

Two days later ( after an amazing boat trip the day before) the wedding day arrived and Ana Maria looked radiant in Oscar de la Renta ( our beloved Dominican designer) and Edmundo Castillo shoes.  The ceremony was held at the chapel in Altos de Chavon and the reception at an epic beach front villa in Casa de Campo.  When I tell you I danced from the first song to the last I am not exaggerating and I was not the only one.  The energy of joy that we all experienced the first night had now grown to such an extent that you saw it in everyone’s  faces and felt it in every gesture . I was grateful to experience it and be a part of it.  Ana, Roderick and their families had managed something that our governments had not been able to figure out how to do all year.  They brought such joy to all of us and now we would all carry it back to the corners of the world  we had all come from.  I left with the feeling that with this energy we could save the world. Thank you Ana Maria and Roderick, I will forever be indebted to you for bursting my heart wide open and I will carry this joy with me always.

ok, i’m always harping about breaking the mold when it comes to wedding design (mainly because I’ve grown tired of all the cookie cutter weddings I’ve seen).  But recently I came across a very elegant and classic style wedding and I must say there is nothing ho-hum about it! it’s simply.. BEAUTIFUL -from the neutral color palette right down to the bride’s chic chignon! if you asked me what my fairytale wedding would look like, this would be it!

I really can’t get over how gorgeous this wedding is.. it makes me want to get married all over again! <3

Those gen y consumers who still want that $1400 dress, and aren’t willing to downgrade to a $400 or $40 version do indeed have some options.

Luxury sample sale sites like Gilt Groupe and RueLaLa are flourishing while physical retail stores take a hit. They offer deep discounts on designer items, and play to a sense of exclusivity desired by both brands and consumers.

Andrea Graber, the manage of marketing and communications for Gilt Groupe believes that the relevance of labels in quite simple. She said,

“Even in these difficult times, consumers still entertain the idea of introducing that next piece of luxury into their closets/homes. Gilt Groupe enables them to access their sought after brands at a reasonable and affordable price. What could be more appealing?”

In order to shop the sales, or even to enter the websites, potential customers must become registered users. The catch is, a potential member must be invited by a current member. While memberships are free, luxury sample sites play into the power of good connections.

This model of exclusivity has made the sites more appealing to luxury labels that are typically weary of selling online at a website other than their own, or online at all. These brands fear that doing such things will cause them to lose their cachet. But, since luxury sample sites are password protected, sales don’t come up in search engines, something they believe has the potential to cheapen a designer’s reputation.

Once a user registers with a luxury sample sale site, she receives a weekly calendar of sales, and daily e-mails once a sale begins. Sales typically last between 36 and 48 hours, which contributes to the “get it before it’s gone” mentality.

All that said, I find that Gilt and RueLaLa tend to inflate the original prices in order to trick consumers into thinking they are getting a better deal than they are. I’m not sure if this is legal, and it’s certainly not ethical. But, it works. Gen y women want recognizable labels to feel that they’re getting something special. In addition to saving their bank accounts some stress, deep discounts, real or imagined, do just that.

In a world where an actor can get paid up to $20 million dollars for one movie, it’s good to see Hollywood’s major league giving back to an amazing cause – like Women In Need. For the past 25 years, WIN has been helping out women, children, and families who are homeless and disadvantaged.

WIN has come together with big names like Diane Von Furstenberg, P. Diddy, Oscar de la Renta, the Beckhman family, Mary J. Blige, and many others to create amazing, truly individual homes to be auctioned for charity. The “Homes for the Holiday” houses will be available via CharityBuzz.com now til November 30th.

This frills trend is fabulous and I am so tremendously bored of everything I own I want to tear everything into rags, sell the rags and buy a sequinned zip-frill dress from Primark with the resulting £4. I will have to wear it every day because I’ll own no other clothes but as long as I retain some woollen tights and my duffle coat I won’t die of exposure.

 A better option for my party-season pennies might be this good look-alike of the Lanvin dress, above, from Asos., whose magazine I have started receiving in the post against my will but which I find strangely good reading. I do wonder how it is that Asos can get their magazine to me but Elle, which I actually want, has still failed to turn up.

I’m in the mood to look more glamorous than my duffle coat allows me to and as soon as I have clothes funds, I am going to go and buy a feel-good dress. I have been fantasising about something like the Oscar de la Renta dress Carrie wears in season 6 of Sex and the City. Hopefully you remember that big shiny box because this picture really doesn’t do the feeling justice. I would like my dress to come in big black shiny box too.
