November 22.

With a knowing fear, Margaret looks through the telescopic lens watching the cars pass  the corner. She does not fear for herself, she fears for the completion of the mission. One misstep, one unaccounted for mishap; and all these cheering spectators, all of the world, will know what fear and loathing truly means.

One day earlier.

“why in the hell haven’t they returned?” Margaret demanded to the empty room as she started to flip switches on the wall sized computer.

The translucent green of the CRTs reflected in Margaret’s glasses over powering and obscuring what would otherwise be icy blue eyes. Checking log files and hurriedly typing in self-diagnostic commands, Margaret’s mind was a torrent of frustration.

It had taken the world’s total GDP for 12 years and cost thousands of lives to create this machine: all of this done with the single minded purpose of correcting one mistake, perpetrated by one man.

Now, Margaret stood alone surveying the screens. Ten attempts had been made to send squads back, and all of them had failed. Mostly, they just didn’t return; but, of those that did return, their minds had been so corrupted by the travel, they had to be  placed in lockdown.

“God Damn useless!” Margaret shouted to the unfeeling machine. “all of this and all you can show me is that the systems are normal? What a freakin’ waste of time!”

Margaret already knew what she would have to do. It would be just a matter of preparation. Any hesitancy she felt did not stem from fear of death; she was well aware of and expected it. Had any of the previous missions succeeded, she knew full well she would no longer exist. Removing the proceeding cause, would erase all of the after effects; and that after all was why the machine was built to begin with.

There had been arguments with some who found life to be too precious. The need to exist was too great in their eyes; even if it meant living in an irradiated wasteland. Margaret did not agree. She saw the greater good for so many people that could be done. The children who would  not have to know the horror of full scale nuclear war and its aftermath. A cause which she was more than willing to give her existence for.

Dressing in old Army greens and grabbing the Carcano rifle, Margaret hurried into the travel chamber hitting the countdown switch has she entered.

November 22.
As the second car comes into view,  Margaret releases the safety catch, inhales once and finds her target, then slowly pulls the trigger. In that brief moment as the bullet flies to find its mark, she hears a rifle report coming from up above and to the left. And in that fractional moment, she has a chance to look up to see a man at a 6th floor window: and before she can even form the question of who is that- she ceases to exist.

“OK, I groaned a little when I got the press material for “JFK: 3 Shots That Changed America“. I thought I had seen every scrap of footage related to the Kennedy assassination far too many times already.

Boy was I wrong. “JFK” presents a remarkable parade of clips of home movies, raw news footage, police dispatches and local Dallas coverage — much of it never before aired. And it does so in chronological order and entirely without narration.

The lack of voiceover gives the stream of footage incredible power. Nobody’s telling you what happened or how you’re supposed to interpret it, and this frees the viewer to re-experience a moment of local chaos, national trauma and a time when the fledgling medium of TV news was just figuring itself out.

While presented in a minute-by-minute fashion, the clips arrive weird, raw and jumbled. The documentary often seems like a video version of an archaeological dig, with the editors trying to make sense of so many broken shards of pottery.

Jack Ruby shoots Lee Harvey Oswald

A stripper from Jack Ruby’s Carousel club appears on a talk show just hours after the arrest of the assassin’s assassin. We hear a clip from a radio broadcast of a Philharmonic orchestra as the conductor announces the president’s murder to a thunderous gasp from the audience, before leading the musicians in an impromptu performance of a Beethoven funeral march. A friend of Jack Ruby suggests that he saw Lee Harvey Oswald in his nightclub just a week before the assassination. Local correspondents insist on calling the alleged shooter Lee Harold Oswald.

We also learn from a number of clips that, contrary to TV legend, Walter Cronkite did not break the news of the president’s death, but that it dribbled out from various sources, with the tentative nature of a horrible rumor nobody wanted to believe.

Again, take this from a jaded Kennedy buff, confirmed history nut and professional media junkie: “JFK” is hypnotic, powerful, spellbinding stuff.”

Mickey getting dark and gritty

Although the November issue of Game Informer led many to believe that a Kingdom Hearts console sequel was finally on it’s way, it’s been revealed that this is not the case. This is not necessarily a bad thing though. It seems that the game being flaunted about in the magazines pages (and many pages of the internet as well) is a fresh IP from Disney called Epic Mickey.

So who is behind the promising new project? Warren Spector, the developer and mind behind many acclaimed games, such as Deus Ex (and it’s sequel), Thief, and Wing Commander. Teamed up with Disney and Nintendo, Spector is looking to take the franchise in a bold new direction, in Epic Mickey exclusively for the Wii. The game is said to take the bright and cheery demeanor of the world of Disney we know and love and contrast it with surreal and gritty reimaginations of many forgotten Disney characters. Equipped with a paintbrush, and the ability to paint and erase levels, Mickey will be facing up against hordes of obscure characters. So far o names have been confirmed except Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and the Phantom Blot. Check some designs and the plot (thanks from Wikipedia) below.

“The antagonists of Epic Mickey are the largely old and obscure Disney elements, including theme park rides and older cartoons. Having been forgotten, they are now trapped in a “forgotten world of broken machines and bitter personalities.” Running this world is Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, one of Walt Disney’s first creations, who has become jealous of Mickey Mouse and is seeking revenge. Oswald sends the Phantom Blot to the Disney universe, and it soon covers the world with black ink, causing the colors to run. Using a variety of artist tools, Mickey must return the Disney world to its former glory.^[10] It is hinted by an article from GameInformer that the Disney character The Mad Doctor might appear in the game.”

After an incredibly long wait, the first details for Epic Mickey have finally been unveiled thanks to Eurogamer. A source close to Disney claims that the anticipated title will be primarily based on the forgotten aspects of Walt Disney: the characters, the rides, and the lesser-known cartoons, and the antagonist is going to be Oswald The Rabbit, Disneys first true creation, who is angered by Mickeys success. When these Disney features are forgotten, they are cast into a world that is nothing but a dark void, whom now want revenge.

The gameplay focuses on Mickey attempting to restore his world, after Oswald unleashes the Phantom Blot which causes the color in his world to run and fade, using tools as brushes, pencils, erasers and thinner to get through challenges and obstacles presented. Mickey must make use of his tools by scribbling, erasing, painting, and thinning walls and color to rescue his endangered world from these forgotten friends turned villains.

Hey. The circus has come to town. Colonel Kadaffy has set up his tent in Donald’s garden. All the streets are choked with giant black SUV’s each carrying a single delagate who has come here to do something about global warming. I was listening to the radio and I understand that even Blaise Compaore, the President of Burkina Faso, is here. A splendid time is guaranteed for all. Did you know that Kadaffy’s tent has plumbing? I understand that he and Michelle may do a fashion show together. The moo-moo he was wearing the other day was particularly stunning. And how does he do his hair, electroshock in a wind tunnel?

So the clown prince took center stage and I understand he’s as long winded as he is insane. Yes, Colonel Kadaffy spoke for quite a while. He came out with such zingers as he thinks Chairman Zero should be President for life. Of course Zero, not to be outdone, did his famous ‘I’m to far above this job, I should be President of the world’ bit for the crowd and they just loved it.

Back to Kadaffy, he has a new bit and it just had them rolling in the ailes. He starts out with some incoherent stuff about Kennedy planning to investigate the nuclear power program in Isreal. The beginning is kind of slow and seems a little paranoid, even for a man with all female body guards but it quickly moves on to how Jack Ruby, who’s real name is Jacob Rubinski, is a Jew, and it was all part of the master Jew plan for him to kill Oswald to keep him quiet about the true reason for Kennedy’s assasination. Shortly after this he must have said something that really wasn’t that funny because a bunch of people got up and left. Oh well, stop by again folks. he’ll be there all weekend. Three shows a day.
