Academic Staff Roundtable Discussion with the Vice Provost for Diversity and Climate

2:00 – 3:30 p.m.
Memorial Union TITU

MASA Members are cordially invited to an Academic Staff Roundtable Discussion with the Vice Provost for Diversity and Climate, Dr. Damon Williams.

How do you describe the climate for members of the UW-Madison academic staff? Do you feel proud when you describe your work–or when you explain that you’re a member of the academic staff–to new friends in the community? Here’s a special opportunity for you to discuss your experiences on campus as a member of the UW academic staff.

The Academic Staff Executive Committee (ASEC) and the Vice Provost for Diversity and Climate invite you to a roundtable discussion of academic staff diversity and climate issues. Snacks will be provided, and while discussion won’t be limited to particular topics, a few questions to be thinking about are:

As you may know, the new diversity initiative for the UW System is titled “Inclusive Excellence.” What does “inclusive excellence” mean to you?

If you set out to improve the climate for academic staff at the UW, what steps do you think would be the most important?

What kinds of policies and practices do you think have the greatest effects on diversity and climate, for academic staff and for others?

Please RSVP to Susan Crowley, ASEC Chair, at sjcrowley@uhs.wisc.edu by May 4 if you are interested and able to attend. Space is limited.

Thursday, May 8, 2008 Employee Recognition Day Ice Cream Social An invitation from Chancellor John W

Thursday, May 8, 2008
Employee Recognition Day Ice Cream Social

An invitation from Chancellor John Wiley to call UW-Madison employees:

“Every day, our campus relies on all of you to provide a host of functions in support of our institution. Whether you perform research-related duties, support to various academic departments, or ensure classrooms are properly maintained, each of you provides a service crucial for the university to meet its various goals.

One of the small ways we can recognize your efforts is to have our annual “Ice Cream Social.” This year’s social will be held on May 8, from 1:00-2:30, on Bascom Hill. This event coincides with the Governor’s declaration of May 7 as “Employee Recognition Day.”

I hope you can take a break from your busy schedule and stop by for some delicious Babcock ice cream. Many campus leaders will be personally funding this event, as well as rolling up their sleeves (literally) to serve employees.

We hope to see you May 8th!”
