Title: Kitchen Princess
Manga-ka: Natsumi Ando & Miyuki Kobayashi

Kitchen Princess was another find during an excursion to a used bookstore.  I had the original Japanese version sitting on my shelf due to laziness.  So I used the Del Rey version to help me read along.

Kitchen Princess deals with Najika, a girl who transfers to a new school to find her Flan Prince as he’s called in the Del Rey version (I kept thinking of him as the Pudding Prince but that sounds so retarded in English XD).  The Flan Prince is a boy Najika met after her parents died.  He cheered her up by giving her some pudding, er, flan.  Leaving only an intricately designed spoon behind, Najika is determined to find him again and thank him for his kindness – with food   Time goes by and she learns of a school that has spoons with a similar pattern as the one her Prince left (yeah, what are the chances >_>; a little kid walking around with a rare expensive one of kind spoon…Najika better be lucky he didn’t have one of those cheap fast food plastic sporks XD That would have ended Kitchen Princess real quick).  When Najika gets to school, she finds she has been enrolled into a special class for awesome people (or so the people in that class like to think of themselves).  Unhappy that Najika isn’t someone awesome, her classmates instantly think little of her.  From here Najika goes through several trails which threaten to shake her loose from her conviction of finding the Flan Prince!

I’m of mixed opinion on this manga.  On one hand, I like it because of the cooking.  I like Najika trying to bring happiness to people with her cooking.  In fact, I liked chapter #1 the best because I thought that was what this series was going to be about – cheering people up or whatever through means of cooking.

On the other hand, I pretty much hate everyone so far in this manga.  I don’t know what their problem is.  They all hate Najika but when she makes something, they all love her.  But then the next chapter starts and they hate her again.  It’s like when they make a McDookie, the substance that brought such happiness into their lives goes down and away with their toilet flushing, leaving them cold and angry.  I especially didn’t like Akane.  I never liked bullies but I hate two faced liars even more.  Don’t smile in Najika’s face then stab her when her back is turned! Daichi and Sora don’t leave much of an impact on me either. Daichi even turned a blind eye to when Najika was getting bullied (ass).

I’m not a fan of manga about bullying so maybe this is why I don’t like Kitchen Princess much.  The end of the manga gave me some hope.  Of course, from the summary on volume #2, it’s still about bullying =_=; I’m going to try volume #2 just to see how it is (plus I can use it to help improve my reading skills in Japanese).

Najika is a great cook and likes to make meals for the people she loves. But something is missing from her life. When she was a child, she met a boy who touched her heart – and now Najika is determined to find him. The only clue she has is a silver spoon that leads her to the prestigious Seika Academy.

Attending Seika will be a challenge. Every kid at the school has a special talent, and the girls in Najika’s class think she doesn’t deserve to be there. But Sora and Daichi, two popular brothers who barely speak to each other, recognize Najika’s cooking for what it is: magical. Is either boy Najika’s mysterious prince?

Okay, so I know I said I would translate Room 13.  The thing is, when I was randomly looking around on the internet for Comic Sylph stuff, I found RAWs to Room 15 of Stray Love Hearts!  Instantly I thought: SWEET! This means I don’t have to do a summary for the chapter! XD (anything to lessen the load!) Plus this chapter has some major spoilers in it (seriously, I didn’t see like 3 things coming at all)!

To prevent your computers from exploding from the overload of images, I decided to break down the chapters into 3 parts (there are 45 pages total, so 15 pages in each part.  Gotta love the fact I can still do simple math even after ordeal of finals ^_^)

Sitting at home, it’s the middle of the night. After much preparation, I load the game up for the first time.

Damn, I wish I had my dictionaries!

Luckily for me, after watching too much anime and reading way too many manga for my own good, I pick up on some of the stuff being said.

“So which one do you want to go with?”

Well you look kinda of nice, mysterious demon boy. How do I get with you?

To say the least, I get with Demon Boy only to be attack in the middle night with nothing but my ruffled underwear on (granted I was spirited away but still) not once but twice. Still after all that and my lack of understanding of the Japanese language, I only got to second base.

That was my first experience in to Ren’ai games or Otome  games. These are like Hentai games targeted to women. They have a “choose your adventure” style leading to a lot of scenarios. As in Hentai Games where there is a male protagonist and a lot of girls, there usually a female lead and lot of suitors she can choose to be with.

The game I’m playing, Ijiwaru My Master,  is a tale about a girl after she gets confessed to from a underclassman(?) she get spirited away to the World of the Devils(?) and is sold into slavery(?). From what I understand of the story, you have your choice of 5 guys: a Prince, a Megane Doctor, a Smiling Butler, a Happy Go Lucky Assistant and a Mysterious Demon. I really haven’t had to chance to play all the characters yet but the story seems very sweet.

Now playing these sort of games requires a lot of work just to play them. First you need to switch your system from English to Japanese. Then you have to use your rudimentary knowledge of kanji and kana to install the game. If you want to go the extra mile, there are programs to help translate your games and you have to install those and set them up. But once you get all that done, it would be worth it, especially getting to make it with the Demon who turns out to be schizo in Japanese. Some things are just universal where you go . . .

So  right now, I’m gonna try to make it with all the character first before I try to tackle a Boy’s Love game, which are like Otome games but with a lot of hot guy on guy action.

Stray Love Hearts Chapter #2 is out people!
Whoot!
This chapter focuses on Kuga! My favorite character! Sweet!

The chapter starts off with Hiyoki getting ready to move on to her next guy XD.  Ren is saddened by this because…this means the end to Hiyoki making him rice balls! Lol! You dork, Ren! Ren is placated when Hiyoki says she’ll continue to make him rice balls…

In class, girls are giving Hiyoki the stink eye.  Confused, Hiyoki turns to her friends who go all evil and eat her.  The reason for everyone’s hostility is that someone took a picture of when Hiyoki fainted.  It shows the student president – Cain – carrying her away princess style and swinging away into the vines wearing nothing but a G-string *gets bricked for lying* Hiyoki gets all embarrassed over this (who wouldn’t =D).  This leads to an opportunity to talk about the history of the school and about how the girls have so much time on their hands they actually have fan clubs to guys they like! Lol! XD

Ren with Kuga stop by to drop off some notes Hiyoki left back at S hall (naturally all the girls go wild seeing hot man meat x 2).  Kuga is all aloof and emo (which kind of surprised me because he’s way different later on in the series).

Time shifts and Hiyoki enters Kuga’s room.  It’s pretty much what you would expect a guy like Kuga to live in.  There’s even a skull.  Yup.  A skull.  Little something to turn on the ladies? Kuga appears and is all don’t touch my skull woman! He says Hiyoki can sleep on his bed and leaves.  Okay.

Hiyoki has a bad night’s sleep because she keeps freaking out about the skull XD  The next day she tries to befriend Kuga but he’s all FLEE!  This had Hiyoki depressed.  I like the fact she has a little student president in her head calling her a pervert XD So random!

Ren notices her depression and takes her someplace secluded…

If you’re thinking of something dirty, don’t worry.  Hiyoki thought the same thing.  Turns out he’s taking her to some underground concert place.  There’s a singer on stage…with silver hair!? The bastard heart thief!?  No…wait…that’s…Kuga!? Kuga’s a cross-dresser!? Ren explains that Kuga is some popular singer but he wears a wig to prevent being killed by a stampede of fangirls (I’m not sure if he’s being insulting but come on.  How dumb do you think people are that they can’t tell it’s you in a wig?  This isn’t like Sailor Moon where putting on a miniskirt instantly hides your idenity).  Ren explains Kuga is scared of girls (guess a prior fangirl incident.  I wonder if he was slapped with one of those yaoi paddles? That’s pretty traumatizing for any straight guy) but he hopes with Hiyoki he can be cured of that.  Because it feels different being around Hiyoki – which Hiyoki translates as = one of the guys D:>.

Hiyoki decides, hey I’ve got problems but this guy got fangirl problems and that’s three categories worse than mine.  She goes out to find Kuga.  She find him on the roof, asleep.  Hiyoki decides to wait for him to wake up but slips and hits her head – causing her to fall into Kuga’s dreams.  Dream Kuga is singing while these naked fangirls are all clinging to him (WTF!? I think even fangirls have limits on what they’ll do for their love! Exposing themselves is a little…out there but explains so much why Kuga is all O_O kill me.).  Hiyoki in this cool outfit tries to beat the fangirls off Kuga but the fangirls beat her instead! Hiyoki wakes up and goes over to see if Kuga is alright because no guy wants to have dreams of naked women clinging to him XD.  Kuga awakes and says he had a dream about his Sun Goddess saving him.  Inspiration time!

The chapter ends with Kuga showing Hiyoki he’s new song, Goddess of the Sun.  Hiyoki is flustered because the person he thinks is his Goddess is her.  Ren congratulates the two on becoming friends to which Kuga is all, I don’t think you’ll be too happy with this new relationship later on no more late nights together Ren.  I like girls again XD *jk*

Hot on the tail of Chapter 1’s summary is Chapter 2’s!  This and the translations come earlier than expected due to me realizing finals are next week!  I totally forgot about them!  I kept thinking they were weeks away but when I looked at my calendar, BAM! Next week.  Gah Kitsune! You fool! DX

On another note, yeah! Sentai is going to release Mariaholic in the states! I haven’t personally read/watched this series but I love the manga Dazzle which is by the same author so hopefully I will have the same love for Mariaholic! =D

Petit Four

Chapter 2: Potage

The chapter starts off with Mei giving us the low down on what’s happened.  Basically she’s temporarily running her grandfather’s restaurant in hopes of restoring it to its former glory along with 6 unique staff members.

Mei rushes into Petit Four as she finishes her monologue.  Yuuta, the playboy server, jumps her screaming for help.

A battle has manifested between Seiji, the tightass manager, and Isamu, the crotchety chef.

Rewind the clock to find the reason behind this fight: Seiji and the servers are busy cleaning the shop.  Seiji is being a tightass and demanding perfection when it comes to cleaning.  His shouting pisses Isamu off who comes out of the kitchen to tell Seiji to shut it.  Kazuki, the clumsy server from the previous chapter, flees to Isamu’s side and  asks the chef rescue him from Seiji’s demented cleaning tactics.  Kazuki notices something on his hand when he touches Isamu: flour.  Isamu says he’s covered in flour because he was doing some preparations in the kitchen.  He shakes out his apron to emphasis on the flour part.  Seiji gets a heart attack over this as there is now flour on his once clean floors.

“And well…”
“This and that happened – thus bringing us to the present situation.”

Mei: =_=;

Both Seiji and Isamu go at it, Seiji yelling at Isamu for doing whatever the hell he feels like and Isamu counters saying Seiji is a tightass XD

Mei watches this and decides this can’t go on.  She tries to invoke the help of the other staff members to implement the Let’s all be friends! battle plan.

Shizuka, the wine guy, goes “…no.”

Yuuta, the playboy server, says he’ll do it for a date.

Kazuki, the clumsy server, says he’ll do whatever Mei needs done.

Mei just looks at them.  Really people?  Really?  Aren’t you worried about the fighting going on?

Then the boys start questioning if they should interfere.

“Let sleeping dogs lie.”

Chelu comes to Mei’s aid saying he wants Isamu and Seiji to be friends, much to Mei’s happiness.  Mei tells Chelu he’ll cover Isamu while Mei takes Seiji.  Upon hearing who he’ll have to watch over, Chelu laments that he’s not Mei’s guy after all.  Lol, Chelu is scared of Isamu! This part ends with nothing being solved and dinner starting.

Dinner is going normally.  Seiji asks where Kazuki is when things are so busy!  Mei tells Seiji Isamu took Kazuki to wash dishes.  Seiji storms over to the kitchen to demand why Isamu took Kazuki for such a reason!  Isamu gets angry at Seiji’s hostile attitude.

“Shove it!”

“Just shut your mouth and carry out my food!”

This causes everyone to go quiet.  Before things heat up any more, Chelu jumps in and informs Seiji that due to the large volume of people being served, they’re running low on silverware and thus the need for Kazuki back in the kitchen.  Seiji swallows this with difficulty but lets it go.  He turns to Shizuka, the aloof server, for aid instead.  Mei asks as well.  Shizuka isn’t too happy but he does as asked.

Eat your burgers and die...

Some customers get ready to leave.  Mei decides to go see them off with Seiji.  Seiji is very cheerful, especially when he hears the customers compliment on the restaurant – this surprises Mei.  Dinner ends without a hitch.

Mei goes to find Seiji and tries to explain Isamu’s behavior.  Seiji says he’s not angry over what happened.  He acknowledges problems will happen.

“The food Matsuo-san cooks is first class.  That fact is something I can state with confidence.”
“However, a restaurant cannot rely solely on food alone.  In order to eat good food, you need to have it provided with good service.”

“That’s what we servers are for!”

That and to be pleasing on the eyes!

Seiji basically talks about his love for Petit Four.  Mei realizes that because Seiji is the only one here who truly knows Petit Four, it’s only natural that he would be so adamant about restoring it.  Mei and Seiji talk more.  Isamu listens in and has a shit-now-I-feel-bad look on his face.

The next day, Isamu tells everyone to meet in the deluxe suite for a surprise.  Chelu and Kazuki come in with a cart loaded with good looking food.  Everyone is happy but Seiji takes one look at the food and trouble begins:

“Why did you use the ingredients for Lunch Set A to make this meal?”

“These ingredients are of high caliber!”
“To use them for something like this is a waste!”

Isamu says if Seiji doesn’t like it then don’t eat it.  Seiji states the problem isn’t the food.  It’s Isamu.

As Shizuka says: “Round 1.”

Isamu and Seiji go at it.  Kazuki and Chelu try to keep the two from tearing one another apart.  Mei is freaking because she doesn’t know what to do.

“I want you two to knock it off…”

Who just said that?

…

CHELU!?

Yes, ladies and gentlemen.  Chelu just went bipolar.  He tells Isamu and Seiji off for their behavior and how they are causing problems for everyone with their bickering.

“If you two want to be part of Petit Four’s staff, then get the @#$% along for the sake of this restaurant!”

After that grand speech, Chelu faints XD

Mei takes over, explaining how both Seiji and Isamu are important to Petit Four’s future.  Shizuka totally ruins the mood by eating the food brought while this is all going on.  But from his eating, Mei gets inspiration:

Food Analogy time~!

This time, everyone = soup.

“In this soup, you have different colored vegetables merged together into one dish!”

“If we’re always fighting, we can never join together for this restaurant.”

“But, if we believe in one another and accept each one of us for who we are…”

“The flavor that can’t be brought out by one vegetable alone…will become a delicious soup.”

I have qualms about this – like what about tomato soup?  Or chicken noodle soup?  But this isn’t about me.

After realizing their potential as soup, Seiji and Isamu apologize to one another.  Kazuki is so moved he wants everyone to do a huddle (that’s a baseball player for you!).  Seiji is reluctant but when Isamu says he’s game, Seiji is forced into joining the huddle.

The chapter ends with Seiji thanking Mei for helping realize what was going on.  He smiles at Mei which makes her blush! Cute.

While she’s in fantasizing mode, Seiji turns onto the other staff members and promptly order them about, making everyone laugh.  He’s still a tightass.  Seiji turns to Shizuka and says if things get busy he’ll be asked to be a server again.  Isamu says that if the kitchen gets busy, he’ll also be asked to help.  Everyone is smiling and happy except for Shizuka who is looking to the side in an I’m-not-happy-with-this mien on his face.

I hate you people...really...I do...

Took awhile but I finally got the summary for chapter 1 of Petit Four up!

Petit Four

Chapter 1: Amuse Guele

Summary

The story starts with a young girl getting ready to open a restaurant.  However, the sound of breaking dishes prompts her to run inside.

“D-did it happen?”

Seems broken dishes isn’t that rare.  The source of the broken dishes is a young server.

In the next following scenes we meet the cast of characters:

Kazuki, the clumsy server

Isamu, the crotchety chef

Chelulu, the sensitive Patissier

Yuuta, the playboy server

Shizuka, the aloof Sommelier

Seiji, the tightass manager

Mei, the temporary owner of the French restaurant, Petit Four

Mei is actually in her last years of high school.  Now how does someone in their teens become owner of a French restaurant?  Heck, teens can’t even drink!

Well, you see Mei was thinking in school about her future.  Her belief is that when you’re in the final years of school, you will figure out what you want to do in the future (no Mei, it doesn’t work like that).

Her friends interrupt her thoughts.

It’s lunch time.  Mei whips out her bentou.  Her friends take one look and ask if they could try (moochers!).

As they scarf down Mei’s food, they tease and compliment her: her food is so good yet she doesn’t use it to attract a boyfriend.  Mei thinks to herself: she likes not only making food but seeing people get happy eating food.  That’s when she decides, hey, I’ll go work at my grandpa’s restaurant! See if that’s what I want to do in the future.

Mei calls her mother to tell her the news when her mother spills some news of her own.  Mei’s grandpa is going to close down his restaurant!

When Mei asks why, her mother says he just doesn’t have the energy to run it anymore.  He didn’t want to tell Mei this because he was afraid he’d make her worry.

Mei runs over to her grandpa’s restaurant and laments about it closing.  That’s when she hears voices coming from inside.

Mei opens the door to find two guys arguing.

Do NOT write a yaoi about us! XD

Guy A came to Petit Four to become apprenticed under Mei’s grandpa who is also a chef.  Guy B works at the restaurant and was cleaning up (and reminiscing about the good old days) when Guy A came in.

Guy B is trying to tell Guy A it’s no use, the owner isn’t able to open the restaurant no matter how persistent Guy A is or how much Guy B wants it to say open.

Mei is amazed by their love of Petit Four.

Guy B:

“Of course!”

“It’s not just me! It’s also the staff who quit.”

“And the regular customers of this store.”

Mei remembers how her grandfather made it so the vegetables she hated so much tasted great.

After a motivation speech, Mei manages to convince Guy A and Guy B to join her in trying to restore Petit Four.  Guy B, Seiji the floor manager, says Mei needs to find 2 other waiters, a Patissier, and a Sommelier.

Through the power of Craig’s List or something, Mei gets her people (one of the servers is her friend from school, Kazuki).

Sorry, two of the other guys got caught off...just bask in these guys' cuteness instead!

Back to the present situation: broken dishes.

The other guys tease Kazuki who is already delicate from his clumsiness.  He runs off crying.

The guys say to leave Kazuki go until Mei points out that Dinner is starting soon and they’ll be short staffed with Kazuki gone.

All hell breaks loose as the guys try to find Kazuki (except for the chef who goes f this).

Chelu, the pastry chef, says Kazuki locked himself in the storage shed.

Who knew doors could lock?

Everyone: D:/

Mei tries to convince Kazuki to come out of the shed.

“I’m sorry Mei. I…wanted to be someone who could help you…I wanted to be someone you could rely on…”
“I said big things like being able to work but…”

“I’ve just been tripping over myself, and not being of any use…”

The other guys tease that yup, Kazuki has been a big mess.

Mei tells them off and takes the situation into her own hands.

Through another motivating speech and a food analogy (congratulations Kazuki, you are now equivalent to an appetizer) she manages to convince Kazuki to come out.

Only before he can come out, the crotchety chef Isamu appears:

“You guys STILL at it!?”
“Geezus!”

“This all could have been fixed if you just open the damn door first!”

He knocks the door over at the same time Kazuki reaches over to open it.

Needless to say, Kazuki is in some pain.

The chapter ends with Kazuki and Mei walking home.  Mei tells Kazuki that he is the one who helps push her forward.  Kazuki gets all flustered over this (he blushes, so cute!) and says both will continue to do their best. Mei thinks, yes we’ll do our best to protect Petit Four.

Happy!

The last scene shows another dish breaking incident…and Mei questioning if they are really protecting Petit Four (haha).

Chapter 1 summary end

Me encontre con resultados favorables en comparación con mi primer intento por buscar esta novela visual hace cosa de 3-4 meses.

Encontre la novela visual de Da Capo en ingles donde menos esperaba encontrarla pues supuestamente ya la habia buscado muchas veces alli (en MCAnime), un buen amigo me la paso ^^

Y tambien vi el Da Capo Plus Communication, aunque parche y juego con links inservibles debido a licencia.

Another summary, this time for Root #6

Root  #6 starts where #5 left off.  Yuiko panics, confused by what Oni means by “uniting her soul.”  She tries to get a grip on everything but Oni says they can’t wait.  The piece of her soul Oni extracted enters her, causing her to fall unconscious.  Just before everything turns black, she hears Oni say: embrace the soul’s memories.

The scene before Yuiko is all white.  Someone calls out: Tsuki-chan!

Yuiko turns to see a little girl.

“Your mom and dad running late again today?  You wanna have dinner together at Akane’s house”

Yuiko is surprised when she answers yes.  What’s going on!?
The scene backs off a little and we see the person who answered was a little boy.

Master-san?

Yuiko is seeing Master-san’s memories.

The scene becomes more detailed.

Two voices are yelling at one another: Master-san/Tsukiya’s mother and father.  Turns out the father is seeing another woman and doesn’t care the mother has found out.  The two yell more and more, while Tsukiya is in his room, lights off, hands over his ears, trying to block out the anger.

At school, kids are talking about Tsukiya and why his family name/last name changed.  One kid comments Tsukiya’s parents got a divorce and the kids clamor around for more details.

Akane, the girl from earlier, comes Tsukiya’s classroom so they can walk home together.  The kids question Tsukiya’s and Akane’s relationship.  Why would anyone want to be with Tsukiya?

Tsukiya withdraws into himself.  He either silently eats at Akane’s house or home alone on some snacks left for him.  One day when he comes home, he witnesses a shocking scene (I’m guessing he saw his mom and the strange man in his house doing some nasty).  His mom throws some money at him and tells him to come back at night.  She even goes as far as tell the man she’s banging that Tsukiya is of ‘no concern!’

Doing as his mother instructed, Tsukiya is caught out in the rain.  Akane finds him and gives him an umbrella and invites him home

The scene shifts a little to the future.

Both Akane and Tsukiya are older.  People still question why someone like Akane would be around a guy like Tsukiya.

Tsukiya witnesses Akane turn down some guy.  He later tells Akane in her room it may be better for her if she wasn’t near him all the time.  Akane asks why he’s saying such things.  Before he can answer, Akane yells she is with Tsukiya because she likes him.  She looks to the ground, face red.  Tsukiya too is surprised.  After that, both start to date.

Some lady who I think may either be a friend of Akane’s or a relation, asks when Tsukiya and Akane are going to get married.  Tsukiya says they aren’t.  Just being together is enough.  This lady tells Tsukiya to think of Akane and not to crush Akane with his Ego.

Tsukiya is confused by this.

As he watches Akane hanging out laundry to dry, he makes a decision.  He goes out to buy a cheap ring and proposes. Akane comments about the ring’s quality.  Tsukiya says in the future when he has the money he’ll get a better one.  Akane cuts him off by saying she wants to break up.  She has found someone else and they have been seeing each other for awhile.  This person said she should break it off with Tsukiya.

Tsukiya has flashes of his past go through his head.  His mother saying his father has thrown them away to be with another woman.  Then of his mother leaving Tsukiya himself behind to go off with another man.  Finally it’s Akane’s family taking him in.

Overcome by the past, Tsukiya backs away from Akane, shouting: “Even you…are throwing me away!” He runs out of their apartment.

Years have gone by.  Tsukiya returns back to his home town.  He learns his mother has past away, not really phased by this.  As he is walking, thinking how nothing has changed, someone yells out his name.

Tsukiya turns to see that relation/friend glaring at him, accusing him of throwing away Akane.  Tsukiya is confused because he was the one who got thrown away.  He asks about Akane.  The friend informs Tsukiya that Akane has died.  She passed away due to cancer.  Akane was worried about Tsukiya so she made up a lie and said she was seeing someone to break things off before Tsukiya found out.

The friend starts crying, angry that Tsukiya could not see through Akane’s lie despite all the time they spent together.  The memory ends with Tsukiya crying over Akane.

Yuiko too cries, accepting the pain and regret – causing the pieces of her soul to merge.

Oni sees this and congratulates Yuiko.  A sudden noise surprises him.  Chikage is standing by the café’s door, sword unsheathed.

“…rat.  What are you doing that you’d need to place a barrier?”

Chikage notices Yuiko lying on the ground, tears falling from her eyes.  He runs over to her just as Yuiko starts to regain conscious.  Master-san as well.

Yuiko tells Master-san that Akane was happy with Master-san.  Even after all that happened, Akane was still happy.  Master-san digests this, letting his tears fall down his cheeks.

Oni is pretty much falling asleep during this heart jerker moment when he notices something sparkling off Master-san.  He suddenly breaks out into a smile and summons a sword, which he drives into Master-san’s chest.  Yuiko and Chikage freak when they see Master-san fall to the floor, blood everywhere.

Master-san begins to change – basically his hair gets longer and he looks like a cocky ass.  Oni calls him Dihru (this is one of the demons from the very first chapter).

Dihru in return calls Oni, Diamu-sama: “Our leader who controls the White Demon” and kneels before him.

Yuiko and Chikage are staring in shock: a third Oni!?

The scene shifts to Aihara being all angst-y and evil, blaming Yuiko for Chikage’s change.

Another scene shift to Shunran and Kikuichi.  Shunran is having doubts about working the Oni.  Kikuichi says that for the sake of Yuiko, they will work together for the time being.  But the ultimate goal is still there: to get rid of the Oni.  For it is their destiny…

Well, this is the final chapter in volume #1.  The next volume of Zeele Sacrifice comes out sometime in 2010.  I’m guessing July 2010, around the same time the 1^st book comes out.  One of the negatives about being interested in a bimonthly magazine series >_<

I’ve decided to do something new.  Reading translations is nice and all but it doesn’t help if you can’t see what is going on.  So I’m going to try my hand at summarizing chapters!

Root #5 Summary

The chapter opens exactly where Root #4 ended: A young boy with a cocky expression stares at Yuiko and Chikage, a mocking smile on his face.  Chikage is turning around, trying to identify the person that has Yuiko frozen in shock.  Suddenly, Yuiko grasps her shoulder in pain.  It can’t be, she thinks.

A voice calls: “Young master!” Maaya comes running up to the boy, wearing the uniform of Yuiko and Chikage’s school.  That’s when the pieces start connecting in Chikage’s head.  This boy is the Oni from earlier! (How they hell did you not see that Chikage?  >_<)

Even Oni is like…how can you not notice it’s me?  =_=’

He taunts Chikage by changing his hair color.  Chikage loses it and grabs Oni by the front of his shirt.  Chikage demands to know why the Oni are here.  Oni says Kikuichi supported this action, shocking Chikage.

“Don’t you remember me saying I’m the only one who can retrieve Yuiko’s soul – no one else.  If I’m not near her, how am I supposed to retrieve them?”

“You’re not the only one burdened if Yuiko dies.”

Oni says he won’t be the one to stay by Yuiko’s side – instead Maaya will take his place.  Oni comments how Chikage still seems pissed by the whole deal, provoking Chikage even more.

Before he has a chance to lose it, Aihara appears (if you don’t remember her, and I don’t blame you bc she suddenly disappeared into the great abyss back in Root #1, she’s like Chikage’s groupie.  And I think she’s going to do something evil.  She may turn out good later, but she’s definitely going to do an evil act.  You can just sense it).  Aihara demands to know why Chikage quit the kendo club.  Yuiko (who has pretty much been standing on the sidelines while the two males try to assert their dominance) is shocked by this news.  When did this happen!?

Chikage pretty much tells her to not stick her nose in his business.  Yuiko tries to reprimand Chikage for his harsh words but instead gets Aihara’s wrath.  Before a bitch fit can be thrown, Oni tells Aihara to calm down.  To which Aihara responds: “Satou-kun…”

This is news to Yuiko and Chikage!

Oni has used some type of mass hypnosis to make the student body think he and Maaya are students.

The school bell rings.  Maaya grabs Yuiko and drags her to class.  Chikage tries to follow but Oni stops him.  We go this way (for they are in the same class supposedly).

In class, Yuiko is freaking out in her head.  All she wanted was to apologize to Chikage and now look at how things turned out!

When school is done, Chikage comes to pick her up.  Only he’s not alone.  Oni is with him.

On the way home, Master-san sees Yuiko and Chikage walking together.  He smiles, happy they are together again.  As Oni walks past the café, he senses something.  He looks back at Master-san, an enigmatic expression on his face.

Oni mentions later to Maaya, when they are alone in their man lair, that Chikage sucks so he wants to eat him.  Maaya scolds him, saying if it isn’t Yuiko, there is no reason to.  Oni eventually relinquishes to Maaya.

The next day, Oni plays 20 questions with Yuiko, asking about ever little thing in the city.  Chikage tries to interfere but Maaya distracts him by telepathically throwing a kid’s ball into traffic, resulting in the owner of the ball to run out into traffic.

Yuiko sees Chikage rescue the boy and smiles to herself.  Suddenly her bracelet glows, shocking her.  Oni tells her that through that ring/bracelet, he is able to provide her with energy.  He lifts his hand and shows his bracelet is also glowing.  He shocks Yuiko by saying Master-san has a piece of Yuiko’s soul.  Yuiko is able to sense it with Oni’s help.

At school, Oni questions how long Chikage is going to follow him around.  Chikage say’s he’ll leave him out of his sight.  Oni doesn’t like this and uses his powers to force a desk, which had been stacked for cleaning, to fall onto some girls.  Chikage runs over to check on the girls.  He suddenly realizes he let Oni out of his sight and chastises himself over the mistake.  He offers to take the girls to the infirmary.

The scene shifts over to Maaya and Yuiko.  Oni suddenly appears and grabs Yuiko.  They go flying out the school, much to Yuiko’s dismay.

Master-san looks up when he hears a noise outside.  The door opens and in strolls Oni and Yuiko (well, she is more like staggering in).  Oni snaps his fingers and puts Master-san to sleep.  His hand disappears into Master-san’s chest and he pulls out a sparkling shard.

“Well, this is as far as I can go.  As the owner, the one who can unite this soul is you Yuiko.”

“Is your heart ready?”

One more chapter after this!

Root #5

Chikage: “…who…?”

Yuiko: !
[My shoulder!]

[It can’t be…]

Maya: “Young master ~ ♪”

“Please take a gander! Do I look alright?”

Chikage: !!!

Aihara: “Why did you suddenly just resign from the club!?  You’re the team captain, aren’t you!?”

Yuiko: [Eh!?]

Aihara: “And you were training for the Inter High too!”

Chikage: “That’s…”

Yuiko: [Chi-chan resigned from his club…?]

*Master-san is that guy from previous chapters who would say good morning to Yuiko and Chikage on their way to school (Root #1).  He is also the one who spots Yuiko when she ditches school (Root #2).  Lastly, he appears in Root #4 to express his concern over Yuiko’s change in behavior.  He tells her to make up with Chikage, thinking she and Chikage have had a fight and that is the reason for her depressed look.

Oni: “You can see it, can’t you?”

“The piece of your soul.”

Yuiko: “Well…”

Zeele Sacrifice is a manga I’m translating just for the fun of it.  It runs in the same magazine as Stray Love Hearts (S.L.H.) and Anonymous.  Currently, only one volume has been released (Comic Sylph is a bimonthly magazine, meaning it takes longer for the manga to be compiled into volumes; unless you’re popular like S.L.H., which gets more page counts per chapter and thus gets released in book form faster).

Harukanaru Toki no Naka de is an otome adventure game developed by Ruby Party and published by Koei, the anime was announced on Koei’s 15th Anniversary of Neo Romance.

Game Synopsis:

One rainy day Nozomi Kasuga and her two friends encounter a strange boy at their high school, who sends them hurtling across time and space to a place in another world called Kyou. This place bears a strong resemblance to Kyoto at the end of the Heian period, where the Minamoto clan (Genji), led by Minamoto no Yoritomo (based on the historical Minamoto no Yoritomo), is at war with the Taira clan (Heike), led by Taira no Kiyomori (based on the historical Taira no Kiyomori). The Heike hope to defeat the Genji by releasing vengeful spirits (onryou) to disturb the Earth’s natural flow of energies and to terrorize the land. The boy that Nozomi met is revealed to be the human form of Hakuryuu, the White Dragon God said to protect Kyou, whose powers have greatly weakened due to the presence of the onryou. Nozomi discovers that she has the power to seal the onryou as Hakuryuu no Miko, and she allies herself with the Genji in order to seal the onryou, restore Hakuryuu’s powers, and return home to her own world.

So, I guess I should make a post on the project that I’m working on now – the secret otome project.

Since all my free art-time is being spend on a race for the finish line for a few commissions before I leave the country, most of the work on this project is still focused on the script. Like with Angelic Orbs I prefer to write a good deal of the script before drawing any art assets for it anyway.

So, how is the script coming along?

One thing is for sure – since I have decided that this game is going to work differently than the somewhat “linear” paths with choices in AO, scripting can be really hard. Harder than I thought <_<;; Keeping track of what comes where when takes some work.

One good thing is that the map system is mostly finished. Coding really isn’t a strength of mine, so getting that out of the way is a relief. (Know that this isn’t some impressive walk-around map, it’s actually pretty simple “choose where to go” map )

Because of the way that I organize scripts at the moment, I don’t really have a clear number of how many words have been written yet, but most of the prologue has been written along with events for something like 6 days.

So yah. What is the story even about?
