So needless to say, my opinion is, that all people making $250,000 more year should pay higher taxes. Congress should not only pay higher taxes, they should take a cut in pay!

Contact your representatives and tell them we’re not paying any more taxes! Dammit We are sick of high taxes! Let’s stop them now!

Perhaps our government officials should take a cut in pay! God knows they make more then anybody else does in this country other then of course our Hollywood folks.

Come on America speak up I can’t be the only one that feels this way. God help us if they cut our benefits.

The intent: A purer conviction of beliefs.

The reality: Okay, if you can’t see why this is problematic, then there’s not much we can do. But, this happens all the time, and usually in regard to the lower-end “thinkers” involved in religious/anti-religious arguments. Here is where you get your sixteen-year-old atheist and your barely-internet-aware theist hashing it out in the comments section of a youtube video about cats. It’s embarrassing enough BEFORE  they start handing out idiot trophies –on one end to Aquinas, Augustine, O’Connor, every religious scientist ever, Tolkien, Chesterton, and Lewis, and on the other side to Nietzsche, Sartre, Camus, Lucretius, and Stephen Hawking.
The fact is, we are small creatures on this planet, and the likelihood any of us will discover the fullness of truth in an infinite universe is fairly low. There are many different methodologies to use in the pursuit of truth, and guess what? You may not agree with all of them. In fact, you may be convinced that some are dead wrong. But, does that make the promoters idiots? Maybe, but maybe not. A better question is, could you even tell the difference?
Most people today have no critical reading skills at all, and cannot A.) meet a writer on his or her own terms and follow the writer’s paradigm in order to discuss the ideas posited in a rational way, or B.) even find a central argument at all.

And, let’s be honest, none of the internet evangelists/anti-evangelists has ever read any of the authors they are attacking (and probably few of those they promote). After all, reading is… hard. Meh, off to post 400,000 memes to “prove” how superior I am to the world!  Oh, and “like” some pages! That’s a surefire way to make me intelligent. Looks at meh brillantish brainzes, biotches.

I can’t believe we are going to have to put up with another four years of NOT moving forward. This guy is useless! All he and his wife do is attend parties and go on TV shows. Do you call that running the country? I don’t! I call that taking advantage of his position and at OUR expense. How could Americans let this happen? It’s time for us to be heard America! All the legislators in office today, and I mean all, need to be thrown out and replaced. NONE of them do what the people want, none of them listen to us, so throw their asses out, and that includes OBAMA.

Take YouTube for example. Any of the most subscribed youtubers probably have to deal with this stuff every single time they upload a new video.  ”Ah a comment, hopefully its a comment saying they liked the content, or offering feedback”. NOPE. Instead anywhere between 4 – 20 users all commenting how they were first. Most of which, I must add, are within seconds of the video hitting peoples sub boxes; meaning these idiots haven’t even seen the content fully.

It is ridiculous. The uploader is not going to congratulate you on your outstanding achievement. And if they do, its because they’re being sarcastic. So lets all just stop this pointless, irritating and stupid mindset that you’re achieving something by being first, in reality you look like a dick.

Now, according to the news, Travon, 6’3″, gave Zimmerman, 5″9″ a whooping. Punched him in the face and slammed his head multiple times into the pavement. This is all confirmed by witnesses. If all this is true, then Zimmerman had every right to shoot him if he felt his life was threatened. I know if someone was beating on me, I would shoot in self defense. Lets face it, isn’t that why some of us, myself included, carry guns? To defend ourselves. I know that’s why I do.

So shoot-your-mouth-off (Sharpton) and jerk-off (Jackson) why don’t you both crawl back in the hole you reared your ugly head out of and stop this racism bull-crap.

Let the law do it’s job instead of inciting crowds marching around the country. If the law finds him guilty them let justice prevail. But if Zimmerman isn’t guilty then leave him alone!

Don’t Go Breaking My Heart
Caught Johnnie To’s Vengeance at last year’s MFF and was happily surprised, so I was very excited about Don’t Go Breaking My Heart, a potentially auteur-ish romcom, of all things. But no, no, no no. I wonder if a romcom is defined by its emphasis on quirk and the dumb horny scramblings of its characters, the main love interests of which are inevitably undergoing a crisis/transition and are attempting to fill their respective voids with warm [or hot] bodies. It’s the formula, for sure. And the animal, the pet a lonely person gets, with which he cutely converses and speaks to about the sought one… It’s odd, in 2011, to see cosmopolitan urban adults so obsessed with marriage like in an old Cary Grant film.

The Sleeping Beauty
Critical faculties notwithstanding, sometimes I just like watching Breillat work. I have almost nothing to say here – this film is clearly a fanciful reconstruction of a fairy tale to which I only ever knew the barest parts. Breillat is meticulous and highly theatrical, gets exceptional performances from her actors in highly abstracted roles. The film, so far as I can tell, is about the maturation into womanhood experienced as a kind of fever dream. Great!

And that’s the problem. Dubai’s police have long been known as very brutal and lately they’ve taken to targeting foreigners because they have money. The brutality is reprehensible enough, of course; but it’s sheer rampant stupidity for them to single out tourists, the only real source of revenue for their economy! Short term gain for long-term cutting their economic throat.

Why did this man’s relatives find out what happened to him? Only because a native prisoner in the same jail took steps (and a lot of risk), of his own accord, to get the word out.

The rest are presumed to be Matthew Lacoy’s colleagues, until proven otherwise.  And I’ve come to regard them as being sub-human, as they apparently think Anne Nakis is. Caricatures without conscience, without scruples, ruthless and unquestioning. Hollow men. Hey, isn’t that what the criminals are too? So, a list of the presumed:

Update 27 August 2009: As I’ve said other places, in my escalating anger and anxiety, I pulled many more people into the protection scene than probably belonged there. However, there are some in the above list that I know are agents, Matthew’s boys. And I truly didn’t ever hear from Matthew how many people this protection involved, or how it worked, or when it would be over. That information would have been helpful, would have given me limits and guidelines to help me judge how much anxiety and anger I ought to be feeling.
