The success of your business does not depend completely on SEO: This is one of the most important po

The success of your business does not depend completely on SEO: This is one of the most important points. Do not rely on SEO for generating more revenues and increasing your business reach among the possible buyers. A Search engine optimization can drive targeted traffic to your website, however he cannot force visitors to buy from you whether its service or any product. The actual SALE completely depends on your product line, service levels you offer, after sales service, product / service pricing and many other factors. So it’s unfair to hold SEO professional liable if you are not getting preferred jump in sales even after increase in traffic to your website.

Here are some factors about SEO services, and these factors are about of my past experience when I was a SEO executive.

Have complete faith in SEO professional:

This point means you have to keep full faith on SEO professionals because he/she knows all the main points and factors about Search engine optimization. So try to rely on him/her and let him do his work in his own way.

Be patient with the results and be realistic:

SEO is not a combine wire which can activate a chain reaction and your site will be flooded with huge traffic in a matter of time. You need to be patient with SEO techniques. It takes time to apply SEO as it’s a scientific approach and can be implemented after taking a series of steps.

Be ready to pay for quality work:

Choose a SEO professional / SEO company based on the track record. Once zero in on any professional based on the capabilities, then be ready to pay for the quality work which you expect from him. “If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys”. So my advice is be careful while picking SEO and be ready to pay for quality work.

Getting top ranking in the search engines through effective search engine optimization is like free advertising. It is the most reasonable way to make loads of traffic to your website. Traffic combined with good sales copy and a quick loading website converts browsers to buyers and can skyrocket your sales.

There are a couple of things that seem to remain reliable in search engine optimization techniques. Those are the usage of keywords, keyword phrases and obtaining link popularity with relevant links coming into your website. The main advantage of search engine optimization is that having a top- ranked site in the major search engines is effective, free advertising. The disadvantages are that it may take several weeks after you submit your site for the search engines to index it and continuing maintenance is required to ensure that your search engine optimization efforts achieve the results you want.

After a successful business trip to see a client in Newquay yesterday, I took the chance to sit back

After a successful business trip to see a client in Newquay yesterday, I took the chance to sit back on the plane home and read Growing Business magazine – a publication I have recently subscribed to, but not managed to get round to reading.

The strap line of the publication uses is ‘Energising Entrepreneurs’, and it certainly did that!

It can be lonely being an entrepreneur, whether it is just you, or even if you employ a small/large team. You have questions about expansion, getting turnover from X to Y, marketing, IT, mentoring?

Who can I talk to?

Some of the comments made by the contributors rang true – I recognised a lot of them from questions client’s of Paper Mountain Solutions ask.

The head line article in this month’s publication is on Matthew Riley of Daisy Group plc who hit the nail on the head, which is partly why the business has been scalable so quickly:
“We incorporated the company in February and didn’t start trading until the following September. I realised we needed to do our housekeeping first.

If you haven’t got the back office, the standards and processes in place, its just to fall off at the other end.”

This is exactly what Paper Mountain Solutions does by providing clients with an outsourcing solution to this back office function.

I also like Riley’s comments on mentoring – he has the fortune to call up on Sir Philip Green after securing finance following winning the 2007 Bank of Scotland Entrepreneur Challenge.

Riley is not the only entrepreneur to make reference about the fact that is incredibly useful to have someone you can bounce ideas off in the publication. This comes back to my original point about it being lonely being an entrepreneur – many of Paper Mountain Solutions‘ clients phone up for a ‘chat’ about ideas – they bounce information off us to help with strategic decisions.

If as an entrepreneur you need some energising, check out Growing Business. It is now on my monthly list of must reads!

Sitting in India, I am having a delicious self made lunch and lying comfortably on my bed with this laptop in hand and typing this post. It is a sunny weather outside and the atmosphere is just so cool and relaxed. And this has been made possible on a Thursday because I have a holiday today. You ask why? Well, because it is Thanksgiving in the US and we have all(those in the outsourcing business) coordinated our calendars with the Americans. Funny isn’t it.

So before this day, when Thanksgiving came to me as a blessing, the only thing which I knew about it was that people eat turkeys on this day. Huge turkeys served at the family dinner table and as the name suggests give thanks. What is the history or the significance or the origin of it all is unknown to me. I made a search and found some stuff on the wiki and History.com. Check out : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thanksgiving

and http://www.history.com/content/thanksgiving

Apparently, Canada and USA celebrate it on different days.

Well, whatever be it, I am pretty thankful on this thanksgiving for the 2 day holiday that I am going to enjoy.

We are asked frequently about the difference between the average high school “geek” that most computer consulting companies use and a professional IT person that Masley And Associates uses.

While it is true there are some very basic PC issues which both types of IT people could easily fix, there is a vast difference when it comes to support and more complex issues.

We only use the top Network Engineers and Network Administrators yet we offer them to our clients for the same low cost. We know how to find and retain the top IT personnel because we are the top IT personnel.

Most other computer consulting companies are owned and run by non-technical people with sales, marketing or business backgrounds while Masley And Associates is owned by a network engineer and administrator with multiple certifications and thirteen years hands-on experience in the field. Who would you rather have managing your IT Department; an experienced IT Professional or a Sales and Marketing guy?

We have twelve years of experience in IT, Management and multiple Certifications in networking including Microsoft and Novell – CNE, CNA, MCSE.

What this means to our clients is greater efficiency. While it would be no problem to use a high school “geek” to add memory to your home computer, most businesses would not want a high school “geek” working on their business network yet sometimes that is exactly what happens to some unfortunate businesses.

So how does an unknowing business find true IT professionals who are competent and capable of working on their systems and network?

1. Ask exactly which ceritifications they have and make sure they are certified in the “Top Three” – Microsoft, Novell and Cisco(they take years of study and practice to obtain). Most computer consulting companies find high school “geeks” willing to work for $20 per hour or less, get them their A+ certification(a one-day, basic PC knowledge test) and charge you more than $75 per hour for them! The truth is most other computer consulting companies are only qualified to replace memory or adapter cards in a PC.

2. Ask for references.

3. Ask for a guarantee.

4. Check BBB.com The Better Business Bureau for the company’s rating.

5. Ask how long they have been working in the IT industry and a description of some of the larger, more complex projects they have worked on.

The bottom line is your network is critical to your business and belongs in the hands of the professionals in order to save you time, money and effort. We are the professionals. Think of us as your outsourced IT department. Contact us today we are always available for hire.

Well…I think everybody understands the term of SEO, the full form of SEO is search engine optimization. You the benefits, Advantages we can get through SEO. Well SEO is basically we do to provide a rank of a website in our famous search engines.

Search engine optimization is very important to the success of a website but unfortunately, it is a very confusing thing for new website owners. Many feel like they can beat out on their own without using professional search engine optimization services while others feel that search engine optimization is best left to the experts. While search engine optimization is not easy and
techniques for getting top-ranking are ever changing, a continuing commitment to learning about search engine optimization will save your time and money as well as improving the performance of your website.

David Farr is the CEO of Emerson Electric, a $1.7-billion-dollar company heavily involved in manufac

David Farr is the CEO of Emerson Electric, a $1.7-billion-dollar company heavily involved in manufacturing. What does he think about the job that the Democrats are doing in Washington?

In this Bloomberg article, he explains:

Emerson Electric Co. Chief Executive Officer David Farr said the U.S. government is hurting manufacturers with regulation and taxes and his company will continue to focus on growth overseas.

“Washington is doing everything in their manpower, capability, to destroy U.S. manufacturing,” Farr said today in Chicago at a Baird Industrial Outlook conference. “Cap and trade, medical reform, labor rules.”

Emerson, the maker of electrical equipment and InSinkErator garbage disposals with $20.9 billion in sales for the year ended September, will keep expanding in emerging markets, which represented 32 percent of revenue in 2009. About 36 percent of manufacturing is now in “best-cost countries” up from 21 percent in 2003, according to slides accompanying his speech.

Companies will create jobs in India and China, “places where people want the products and where the governments welcome you to actually do something,” Farr said.

The unemployment rate in the U.S. jumped to 10.2 percent in October, the highest level since 1983. Emerson, which Farr said employs about 125,000 people worldwide, has eliminated more than 20,000 jobs since the end of 2008 to lower expenses.

“What do you think I am going to do?” Farr asked. “I’m not going to hire anybody in the United States. I’m moving. They are doing everything possible to destroy jobs.”

[...]Mature markets such as the U.S., Western Europe and Japan continue to decline in importance and the company will keep investing in emerging markets, Farr said during the presentation.

“We as a company today are putting our best people, our best technology and our best investment in these marketplaces to grow,” he said. “My job is to grow that top line, grow my earnings, grow my cash flow and grow my returns to the shareholders. My job is not to shrink and roll over for the U.S. government.”

[...]In renewable and alternative-energy markets, Emerson had 2009 sales of $50 million and plans to increase that to more than $800 million in five years.

“But you are not going to see Emerson going out there with fancy commercials or sitting at the right hand of some president, talking about this,” Farr said. “We do it.”

When it comes to manufacturing jobs, the only person whose opinion counts is the CEO of the manufacturing company, because he makes the hiring decisions.

Why Obamanomics will not improve the economy

I noticed the Bloomberg article because it was linked to this American Thinker article, which was linked at Marshall Art’s blog.

The American Thinker article analyzes why Obamanomics will not improve the economy.

Excerpt:

The reason that Obamanomics will not and cannot work is because an economy cannot be managed from the top. Economics is a bottom-up process that depends upon individual incentives. Critical incentives have been diminished or destroyed by recent economic policies. Fear, uncertainty, threats, tax increases, penalties, and violations of the rule of law are but some of the conditions anathema to entrepreneurs, small business, and large business. Businesses will not hire, invest, or expand in a climate of disincentives. No commands from on high can force economic activity. That was a lesson that should have been learned from Eastern Europe and the former USSR.

If these disincentives are left in place, our economy will continue to shrink and our standard of living will continue to diminish. Capital has no nationality, and it will start to flee our shores. Talent will follow. We will not recover from this economic downturn until businesses and individuals have a more favorable incentive structure.

You can’t argue with the 10.2% unemployment rate, and it’s only going to get worse. Everything that Obama has done has been bad for business, and has contributed to raising unemployment. Democrats, (and the people who voted Democrat), know less about economics than my keyboard.

Earlier this week I was invited by TPI to participate in a small discussion group for a feature in C

Earlier this week I was invited by TPI to participate in a small discussion group for a feature in CIO magazine. The conversation was based around recent research conducted by TPI that looked at today’s major challenges for IT service management and governance.

I am not about to reveal the details of the research or of the very interesting discussion that took place. What I am going to comment on are the remarks made by CIO Magazine editor Martin Veitch.

Martin started the meeting by outlining the ‘top of mind’ issues that he is hearing from his extensive CIO contact base. He briefly discussed the old ‘image issue’, of CIOs as techies who fail to appreciate business goals and the need for technology alignment. This he dismissed as no longer valid. CIOs are well aware of the need for business alignment – and they are increasingly focused on some of the issues that make this hard to achieve.

Among those issues are the dramatic changes going on in technology. For example, the impacts of Cloud Computing are only now being grasped and it will raise a wide variety of strategic and governance challenges, as well as opportunities. Among the implications is the need to review existing and future contracts. Emerging technologies will revolutionize the relationships with some existing suppliers; in other cases, it will mean forming relationships with brand new suppliers. Terminating, renegotoating and new sourcing will be a major effort and fundamental in its impact – especially with regard to getting good alignment with business needs.

So the role of Procurement will be critical to the CIO’s success, but so will the way that suppliers respond and offer creative new commitments. The dependence on contracting and commercial competence goes much deeper than in the past – and many CIOs have realised that it is a core dependency for their performance (echoing the views recently expressed by Professor Leslie Willcocks of the London School of Economics).

At last, CIOs are looking at a world where the latest technologies and the methods of service delivery allow them to re-think budgets and operate with dramatically reduced up-front costs. They can begin to move IT expenditure from a capital expense to operating expense. They can ‘gain revenge’ on many of the suppliers who they feel have ‘for years, taken advantage of them’ (in particular some of the major software suppliers).

CIO thinking is that they increasingly need to multi-source and to enter into either shorter term or more readily terminable agreements. Again, this has massive implications to the resources they need at their disposal – and it will also have major impact on suppliers and their business economics, plus the way they interface with and manage customer relationships. Not in itself new news – but potentially revolutionary for the world of contracting and contract / relationship management.

At this point, many CIOs apparently despair of obtaining the right resources within the business and take the view that they must develop commercial and contract skills within the IT department. They see a need for core skills in negotiation; they know that they must raise legal and financial awareness within their staff. They must become ‘masters of outsourcing and offshoring’, understanding the impacts of culture and business practices on their projects and deliverables. Governance is another major issue, requiring appropriate contractual protections and the ability to oversee supplier performance.

So with technology now becoming the great business enabler, contracts and commercial professionals must step up to the challenges and opportunities that are being created. This new world calls for more creative relationships, supported by commitments and performance metrics that safeguard contractual outcomes. And the message from CIOs is clear – our community on both buy-side and sell-side must either step up to the plate and deliver against business needs, or the CIO community will acquire for themselves the skills needed to safeguard their success.

Then many times in the process of building a new business venture or working on the current one that you have, you may forget about or don’t pay enough attention to how is this going to affect your family or the ones closet in your life.

Starting & managing a business can take a lot out of you. Many things around the life and success of your business ventures or projects should start out with a strategic plan & support. Why?

Subscribe in a reader

Because without strategically planning things can lead to disorganization, various problems in your company, problems with family, friends etc… If your entrepreneurial adventures may have some affect on your family or close ones then create a plan; a strategic one at that.

Let your family know that this is a business and things have to get done but there will be family time soon & stick to the plan! When you have a strategic plan to make time for both: business & family, you could possibly create & maintain a sense of balance which could possibly lead to success in both areas.

Take into account those around you. Then you all can coordinate your schedules together. Take time out each week or month to have a meeting with them to discuss up coming events, plans etc…. Then decide how you all will work them out. Stick To The Plan!!

Have these things written out on paper, on your computer, personal calendar etc… Post them where every one involved can see them or be a reminder to you. That way, you all will know what’s going on (or supposed to be) in the coming days or weeks. Then you won’t have any surprises (hopefully).

In your plan you can leave some room for adjustments and problems but with your plan by your side you’ll see your way through a crisis.

Try to get more assistance around the home. Schedule out personal time, family time, quiet time for you to reflect, not too much till you start slacking in your business. Slacking off will show, your customers & associates might notice & that’s bad for business. Put aside enough time to just relax & release then come back to business refreshed. Let your family, close ones or loved ones help you out in your business in small ways.

A little strategic planning goes a long way, it can help you & benefit your business, your family & you in the long run.

The Dilemma…“I don’t understand computers, and I don’t know what I.T. even stands for anymore,

The Dilemma…“I don’t understand computers, and I don’t know what I.T. even stands for anymore, but without it I can’t get anything done. Please just make my network work.” Historically variations of this statement have been a recipe for disaster for many small business owners. What they are really saying is “I’m good at my core business, and technology is a core part of my day-to-day business operations. Do I really need to become an expert to simply utilize what it has to offer?” Hardware, software, networking, and phone companies alike have jumped at the opportunity to implement their latest solution-of-the-day. Each has their own best interest in mind, with little or no concern to how well the solution even fits that particular business. For years, small businesses have been missing the role that larger companies obtain from the CIO. A top down approach to assure that appropriate technology is implemented across the environment.

Can you really outsource your entire IT operation to a single service provider? I have been heavily involved in developing Kaltec’s Managed Data Division to answer this with a resounding “YES”. Unlike most providers who started out in the break/fix IT support realm, we entered the IT arena as an Independent Software Vendor (ISV). We have been developing custom business applications based on Microsoft technology since 1993, and found the implementation phase to be very challenging. Developers (myself included) found that working with IT departments to create an infrastructure robust enough to support the demands of the custom application could be very difficult and bureaucratic. In addition, any issue that arose in any area of the network was – by default – blamed on the newly implemented software for months after the software was rolled out. To survive custom implementations, our team members had to become very good at taking a holistic approach to network infrastructure. This included honing a skill-set of high level configuration of Microsoft Server aspects such as Exchange, SQL Server, Active Directory & Group Policy. It became obvious that the only way to protect ourselves was to be better than our customers at managing their business network.

Our mission to offer a complete, competent IT solution has been a huge undertaking, and there are many aspects to be considered. A key component was to establish a fully managed suite of IT products and services, including a combination of proprietary, branded, and resold technologies. Kaltec works with their customers to build a custom tailored IT package, which is delivered for a predictable monthly fee. This fixed fee concept includes customer support, monitoring, security and patch management. It also has solutions for hardware, procurement, and licensing.

I am often asked, is Managed Services just another word for Outsourcing? After the technology bust, and all the hype surrounding the dangers of outsourcing, naturally the industry had to come up with another term to put everyone at ease. However the key to managed services really lies in the approach. As a general statement, experience, standards, and proactive monitoring are key to delivering a higher level service than businesses can obtain internally.

IT has long been a significant cost to businesses of all sizes. More and more, companies are realizing that; while necessary, IT really plays no role in how profitable your company is. While once a differentiating factor, today the benefits of automation are largely assumed as day to day necessity. To make matters worse, skilled IT employees are notoriously difficult to qualify, train, and retain. (Not to mention expensive!) Compounding this, the intellectual knowledge that IT staff obtains is invaluable – especially when supporting legacy systems is simply a fact-of-life for most businesses. Turning these issues over to a reputable service provider makes a lot of sense when looking at the problem from the top.

One of the most challenging aspects of the Managed IT approach is to avoid commoditizing the service as a whole. To brown-box the service too much means wrapping unique customers into a 1 size fits all container – ignoring the flexibility that is built into today’s systems. I firmly believe that one of the most intriguing aspects of IT is the ability to use common toolkits (known as software) to build custom solutions that make our everyday work experience more productive. Customers love the idea of a fixed fee approach (duh), but we work with them to create a plan that still accommodates enough flexibility to allow us to really improve their IT environment when we see the opportunity. With commodity comes predictability and stability, but the benefits – as well as the value – are typically reduced equally. Walking the line between commodity and cutting-edge is an important aspect, and should not be overlooked whatever role you play in the IT. arena.

Is IT outsourcing via managed services for everyone? The question a business owner needs to ask themselves is “Am I an IT company?” If the answer is no, the money that is spent staffing and supporting your IT department is not an asset. Even if your IT staff is putting in 60 hrs/wk supporting (i.e. breaking and then fixing) your network, they will never become as skilled as someone who is exposed to hundreds of networks in as many industries. In my experience; documentation, procedure, security and data protection derived from tested standards of practice – rather than the latest newbies “great idea” – provide the greatest longevity in a business environment. We are in the state of a paradigm shift on technology, and the days of the IT cowboy are numbered. Looking forward, as industry moves on creating a whole new level of expectations in the technology industry, we as IT providers need to reassess our methods and lead the charge.

I am maybe one of the world’s laziest homeowners.

My sister told me the other day that she spent part of her weekend cleaning out her junk drawers! *Drop jaw*. If I were inclined to clean out anything, a junk drawer would be about the LAST thing I’d clean. That’s why they call it a junk drawer, right?

This post is inspired by another blog post I read recently about services that will do everything for you – from walk your dog to buy your wife an anniversary gift.

The blogger wondered if we are becoming so obsessed with our online communities that we just aren’t making time for other things. Can we pull our eyes away from our Facebook pages, our Twitter accounts, our blogrolls to get anything constructive done?

I beg to differ. My slide into lazy homeownership probably developed about 5 years into it. That was about how long it took for us to overstuff our nooks and crannies with all manner of detritus and before the days of social networking.

I’ve always been an inward-looking person – and pretty manually challenged – and the other half has the same tendencies. So we don’t know how to fix ANYTHING and pay people to do everything. I also was never very good at asking relatives and/or friends to do little favors for free. If somebody does a little favor for me, then I owe them a little favor and – as I said – I don’t know how to do anything!

I think our tool arsenal consists of a drill, a garden trowel, and the lid from a Craftsman toolbox with a bunch of brads and random sockets. For 19 years, every other time I would open my linen closet the doorknob came off in my hand. So I’ve developed a system whereby I only put away laundry every other time.

I remember when we first got the house, I had the pride of homeownership and tried to be obsessively clean and neat. But this really only works if you live alone. It’s hard to match your preferences with another person or animal.

My husband and I started teasing each other about being slobs. I said he was the bigger slob. He said I was the bigger slob. We had an official phrase for it: “Chief Principal Offender.”

One week we went around the house with color-coded index cards and marked our pet peeves.

“Chief Principal Offender” labels in pink and blue went into shoes not put into closets, coats hanging over chairs, cups left on end tables, water-splattered sink tops, empty boxes of dryer sheets left on top of the dryer.

Then – eventually – this little game lost its humor and we got too lazy to even make the cards.

I had Mighty Maids for a while. I didn’t want to have to clean the house and work as much as I was working. I wanted my non-work time to be for me. But – eventually – I got ashamed of my laziness and spending money on one thing I actually knew how to do myself, so I canned the maids.

We’ve tried to do better about picking up after ourselves, but it’s really the big jobs – like shredding 10 years worth of documents that have taken over too much closet space or deciding what crap we don’t need anymore – that is the big issue. If it were up to me, I’d rent one of those Pod things and do a Sherman’s March through the house. I can be quite brutal. But my partner would get mad if I threw away his “valuable stuff.” *Rolls eyes*

Perhaps I need to incentivize myself. Or maybe not.

The past couple of books I have written ‘Who Moved my Job?’ (Lulu 2008) and ‘Global Services: Moving to a Level Playing Field’ (British Computer Society 2008) have both been published under license for South Asia by Viva in Delhi.

Viva took a look at my most recent book – Talking Outsourcing (Lulu 2009) – and said they are not interested in publishing it because they don’t feel it connects to the reader in the same way as the other books I have written.

That’s fine. They have their opinion. Only I think they are wrong.

Here’s why.

I don’t think they understand that this was a book of a blog. This book is drawn from the best of my ‘Talking Outsourcing’ blog in Computing magazine, featuring blog entries from 2006 to 2009. It’s written and presented as a chronological business diary. Everything that’s going on in the world of services globalisation and outsourcing from my point of view over that three year period.

It’s worth pointing out that the British national tech magazine Computer Weekly thought so highly of my blog, they shortlisted it for blog of the year in their IT Blog Awards 2009. The launch event at London South Bank University was also very successful – take a look at the video here.

Clearly there are a lot of people involved in the hi-tech service sector in India and I am sure they would like to see this book.

It highlights the issues, the trends, the failures, and the successes of the past three years in the global hi-tech industry and India gets a fair share of that business.

Sure, it’s a book of a blog and not written with a new narrative focused on a single topic, but that’s part of the idea here. Take the content from the blog and make it work in a different way by putting it all in one place, so it can be quickly skipped through.

If you are a publisher in India and you are interested in the South Asia rights for this book then get in touch with me. I’m planning to be there in February so if you move fast we could do some personal appearances around the launch. You can reach me here…
