É moreno, obviamente. Cabelo escuro, mas pele clara. Olhos cinzentos ou castanhos, um brinco. Fumador. Humano. Crente. Muito, muito crente. Membro de uma associação secreta, parte do Vaticano, cujo único objectivo é caçar Nephilim. Silencioso. Curioso.

Vejo aqui muitas, mas mesmo muitas possibilidades de mix-’n-matching com as meninas do grupo.

Why do people become so uncivilized a day after a civilized celebration?

Friend’s house. Green bean casserole with homemade mushroom cream sauce. Dried cranberries with sweet onions. Duck cracklins. Arugula salad with pomelo and fried cashews. Bleu cheese and garlic mashed potatoes. Banh My and chorizo stuffing. Onion rings. Roasted chickens and stout gravy. Candied yam pot de creme. Fried apple pie. Beer to go. No game on the television. Arguments, laughter and everything else. Cigarettes on the balcony after. Ride home. End Thanksgiving. Diet.

I checked my calendar, ladies & YES!  It is STILL Robvember, indeed it is.

I have to admit, the past few days have been hard. This kind of happens to me sometimes. Especially when this Sam guy comes strolling around and being all swoony pants, like he did this weekend. Damn him. Even the 1.3 seconds he mentioned Rob (not by me bringing it up, mind you), I was all about Sam. But you know what, this is a Rob blog dammit.

This was one of the outtakes from last weeks HNT.  Hubby really liked it but I was not too fond of it.  But he insisted I put on here and see what all of you think….So here it is my HNT – Outtake #1.

Just a few photographs from around Hanoi over the last few days. I’m busy editing a bunch of images, shooting a few small assignments and getting a CV together for a big project proposal. Fun stuff. These are outtakes from some recent shoots. A portrait of one of my translators. My shadow looming over the Red River. Lilies and a nice calm lake somewhere in the suburbs. And a cow calmly grazing along the levee. Simple things. Nice things. File it all under why I love Hanoi.

The Vespa Mechanic & More

I went out yesterday to photograph a vintage Vespa mechanic. He rebuilds and refurbishes older bikes from spare and ordered parts, made anywhere from the 1950s to the late 1990s. His shop was filled to brimming with frames, wheels, random gears and engines and everything else you could imagine ever having to do with Vespas or Vespa culture.

He makes everything to order, at times literally beginning with nothing more than an idea and some small piece of the final product. You basically go into his shop and tell him what you’re looking for. He’ll tell you if he can get it together and give you a rough time and price quote. Then you wait one month or three months or however long it takes him to gather everything he needs. It was quite amazing to see his photographs of the final bikes after being in his cramped, dusty and dirty garage. It looks like a meticulous, involved process. A labor of love if ever there was one.

He talked about making bikes for various overseas customers and collectors. About taking over a year to find all the parts and make a vintage early 60s model for someone. About a $10,000 bike. About his father’s love for them as well. About his sons and his old career as a journalist and more. Then he took the writer, translator and me for coffee and lunch. At one point he asked me why I liked Vietnam so much and I had to use him as an example. Totally awesome.

For those in Hanoi, his shop is located in an alley off of an alley off of Pho Hue Street, south of the Old Quarter and nearby the popular restaurant Chim Sao. It doesn’t look like much, but it puts out.

You know how you know it’s going to be a fantastic day? When you wake up late, your daughter throws a major hiss fit about getting dressed, your son pees on the floor, but then you get to work and the world is made right by Vanity Fair. All that other stuff didn’t really matter, cause today was perfect because of these…

Oh my. Be still my heart. I can’t handle Rob fondling himself. Oh, and I also have to say that the hair is on FIRE in this picture!

That jacket looks like it is perfect for two! And gah, these outtakes are full of white undershirts and I know I have mentioned more then a few times how freakin’ HAWT they are.

Oh Robbie… don’t look all sadface that you feel off the piano bench. Go ahead and get back up there and start playin’ mama a song. Yeah, that’s right.

Rob.

Bed.

Amber.

Is.

DIED.

I haven’t figured out the deal with not buttoning the shirt, but Rob in any state of undress of a-okay with me!

I don’t know what you got hidden in that jacket, but I am intrigued. Unless its more socks stolen from the set…then not so much.

Seriously, I can tell you are about to smile. It WAS socks hidden in your jacket, wasn’t it?

I really don’t know what’s all that funny. Personally, if a dog peed on me, I’d be pissed. Oh, and dear rugby guys, if you could, let Rob play and carry him across the line to score. The rugby team I hung with had a rule that first time to score meant you ran around the field nekked. I hope you guys have that rule, too!

Rob with a beer is still win! Rob smiling with beer is more win. And the whole “Time to get cracking!” Yeah, I can make anything dirty!

Okay, there were three other pictures included in the outtakes, but I already posted them so I am not posting them again. You can see the whole slideshow right here on Vanity Fair! Oh, and then we got an extra special surprise with a couple of movie stills from Remember Me!! These almost killed me! You guys know how excited I am for this movie!!!

Oh my. Looking so sweet (and sad). So un-Edwardly!! What a refreshing change!!

Um, scruffy Rob is going to kill me. I am very spoiler-free on Remember Me, so I love that I can look at this and have no idea what part of the movie it is from!

Alright, rule for today… NO NEW MOON SPOILERS ALLOWED ON THE BLOG! I will not be seeing the movie until Friday, and I know many others are having to wait as well. Let’s not spoil it for anyone, ‘kay? If anyone does post a spoiler, I will either modify it out of your comment, or delete it. But don’t make me do that, cause while it may not spoil others, it will spoil me! And I don’t want that.

OMG, I was just thinking it would be great if there were some outtakes available of the Entertainment Weekly photo shoot and what do you know?  There are!  If it was my birthday, I’d say, happy birthday to me!
