Noul label, Nuclear Blast, au facut o treaba crancena cu baietii astia, iar productia albumului este clar peste orice a scos OVERKILL pana acum. Sper la niste remastered editions pentru vechile discuri.

Suna fresh, suna la zi, suna puternic, suna cu nervi, suna OVERKILL.

M-am gandit: “Sa vedem ce iese” si mai mult ca sigur multi erau in asentimentul meu, la aflarea vestii cu Nuclear Blast ca si noua casa de productie. Din fericire nu ne-au dezamagit, au revenit cu un album distrugator si criminal de bine facut. Inspiratia unor artisti de care imi era dor sa ii aud la.. zi, luand in calculsi ultimul Megadeth, pot spune ca anul acesta se incheie la un inalt nivel din punct de vedere.. METAL.

Acá les dejo otro material que ha andado por ahí rolando en la red y que vale más la pena tener por ser una rareza que por otra cosa.

Y es que un cover a los poderosos Motörhead siempre es de respeto, sobre todo si es bien tocado, como en esta ocasión (además vean quiénes tocan acá).

Así es, el 14 de marzo de 2009 se reunieron, en el programa Talking Metal on Fuse de la cadena FUSE TV, Mike Portnoy, baterista de Dream Theater, Frank Bello, bajista de Anthrax y Bobby Blitz, vocal de Overkill, para cotorrear acerca de metal y otras cosas.

Durante el show se les ocurrió a los hosts del mismo, Mark Strigl y John Ostronomy –guitarristas- el improvisar una banda que tocara una grandísima canción de Lemmy y compañía titulada Overkill.

El resultado de este “supergrupo” efímero titulado Turtlehead quedó grabado para la posteridad y se lo pueden conseguir acá.

TB hears all the time, “TB, I love Third Week. I’m spreading the word and most everyone wants to participate. But how does one celebrate this new holiday? After all, Christmas has the tree, Thanksgiving has the turkey, Festivus has its pole….what the hell does 3W have?” I’m glad you asked.

First, you plan your Third Week Party meal–Third Pound Burger and 3 Bean Chili are the traditional main courses and for desert, Neopolitan ice cream, of course. Then you pretty much lay around on the couch watching movies and DVD’s instead of working–movies like “Return of the Jedi, Godfather 3, and 3 Days of the Condor. It’s also a good time for opening that old 3’s Company box set gathering dust in your attic. You should have the traditional beverages of Third Week available for your meal and sofa time–one bourbon, one Scotch and one beer. After about three servings of that you should be ready to do some Third Week caroling. At some point during 3W you must give someone a blank stare, say something damn dubious, and retell an old story with or about an asshole runnin buddy. Often these can be done at the same time. After all that eating and laying around and drinking and singing and staring it’ll be time for the final stage in 3W festivities. This is when you return to your couch, turn out the lights and put in your DVD of “Saturday Night Live–the forgotten classics you never saw in the first place because they were relegated to airing in the final half-hour.” These are all those skits that started out with a decent idea, but they never really got traction. Really, the funniest part of them was that they just kept going on and on and on….and on…. You will be asleep before long and by the time you wake up it will be Thanksgiving week, the beginning of the holidays for all those beholden to the man. At some point between 3W Monday and Thanksgiving Day, as tradition dictates, MD will officially close the season with a comment broadcast exclusively here to all denizens of the Travellinbaen Universe.

Klopt, ben ik met je eens. Een flink leesvoertje is hier al tijden niet meer verschenen. Genoeg te zien en beleven als het gaat om vage video’s en toffe berichten over EP’tjes enzo… Maar verder? Geen rauwe gedichten, geen levensvisionaire updates, geen bloemen en zoals dat dan gaat: geen bezoek. Een die-hard daargelaten.

Hoe moet dat dan verder hier? Is dit het? Begonnen in 2007 met dagelijkse en soms zelfs meerdere posts op een dag? Het ging als een tierelier, jazeker. Het ging uiteindelijk tegen me werken. De keuze om met de billen bloot het internet op te gaan. Ik ging mezelf vervelen, werd moe van mijn geschrijf. Maar het meest moe werd ik van mijn dwangneurose om dagelijks te schrijven. Ik moest, ik moet… Ik heb gemoeten. Een Moestuin van zenuwtrekjes.

Dus dit is het? Hier houdt het op?
Welnee.
Ik ga (blijf) hier gewoon doen wat ik doe en deed.
En ik heb zo mijn fases.
Dan weer bezeten van videoclips, dan weer een foto, een loze one-liner, een vet gedicht, letterlijk vertaalde teksten, een lulverhaal… Of wat dan ook. En dan weer een hele tijd niks.

Ik heb het al vaker geschreven. Ik moet niets moeten. Ik moet al zoveel wat ik eigenlijk niet moet, maar toch moet. En dat vergt moed. Vaak genoeg in ieder geval.
Je hebt geen idee van de kluizenaar die in mij schuilt.
De schim achter de ramen, de dromer en zijn bedrog.

Het vreemde is dat ik al heel lang iets wil schrijven. Precies hier, op deze plek.
Er zijn al heel wat ideeën de revue gepasseerd. En toch deed ik er niets mee.
Gek eigenlijk. Nog gekker is dat ik het nu dus toch doe. Alsof ik verantwoording moet afleggen. Terwijl dat helemaal niet hoeft. Misschien is dat wel precies waarom het nu wel zover is, dat ik nu wel de moeite neem om weer eens wat van me te laten horen op deze plek. En dan in de zin van persoonlijk verhaal (hoewel: stukken over The Weak And The Strong en aanverwante onderwerpen… Die zijn net zo persoonlijk… Maar goed, you snapt what I mean!).

Ik heb mijn eigen verwachting geschept. Mezelf vastgepind op iets waar ik niet op vast te pinnen ben.

Oké, ik dwaal af. Wat kun je hier dus nog verwachten? Geen idee, maar in ieder geval iets. Dat kan dus van alles zijn.
In ieder geval altijd een ego van mijn echo… Huh? Een echo van mijn ego, bedoel ik? Ja, dat ook.

Here’s a good one from the vaults that most metalheads probably haven’t heard…but should.  Agressor was a NY band that apparently had been around since the 1980s but really only got decent recognition when their debut full length album, Say Your Prayers, was released in 1996.  Kelz turned me on to these guys on a compilation tape that he had made for me.  After hearing it I immediately called Sentinel Steel Records and ordered it from Denis.

The best description is to call these guys a poor man’s Overkill because the singer could fill in for Blitz and I doubt anyone would notice the difference.  Say Your Prayers certainly has a feel of Overkill’s Feel the Fire and Taking Over, but of course not quite as good…and a decade late.  That being said I have always loved this CD.

These guys apparently changed their name to Magus Beast in 2002 and I don’t think they ever released anything else.

If you dig Overkill’s early sound, then certainly download this and you won’t be disappointed.

Hey everyone! Just to get started, I’m an enhancement shaman on Zangarmarsh server (US) and I’ve been surfing the interweb looking for a good blog specifically for enhancement shammy’s. Unfortunately, I’ve not been able to find many out there so I wanted to fill some of the void!

I will be analyzing raiding enhancement shamans, 10 man raiding in Ulduar & beyond, and strategies for melee. I really won’t be getting into the “elitist jerks” side of everything, although I will be giving links to that kind of information because it is useful.

I’ll also be getting into what we’ve been doing in our guild, OverKill. We’re a very small 10 man raiding guild that is up to Yogg-Saron in Ulduar, Trial of the Crusader on farm, with Trial of the Grand Crusader in our sights with Icecrown Citadel on the horizon!

It’s been fourteen long years since Urge Overkill released it’s last album “Exit The Dragon”. As rumors float, Urge Overkill is presently working on their sixth studio album with no release date yet determined. If you’ve been out of the UO loop in the last 12 years it will not be the original trio but I am optimistic they’ll have not missed a beat with strong vocals from Kato & Roeser.

Urge Overkill made a huge impact in the early 90’s and hit the charts strong with the cover of Neil Diamond’s “Girl You’ll Be A Woman Soon” for the Soundtrack “Pulp Fiction“. Although being put on the map with the amount of airtime from the soundtrack, their 1993 album Saturation was shadowed by label changes but reviews were still in their favor. They continued their sound into 1995 with “Exit The Dragon” but ran into drug issues with drummer Balckie O which cut a tour short. Things between Roeser and Kato then heated as well which lead to “The Break” of UO shortly after.

During the break I had the opportunity to see Nash Kato solo promoting his album “Debutante”. He played in Saskatoon at Amigos just off Broadway to a mere empty venue but still a few followers of UO. A few years later Urge Overkill reunited and toured though Saskatoon for the first time in 2004. In my eye’s both were amazing shows as I will be a true follower of UO or any side projects Roeser or Kato are involved with.

I am not expecting anyone to drop everything for UO. Being form the generation I am from you will have an appreciation for the change in the music world that Urge Overkill was a part of. Keep your ears open for future releases.

If you don’t already know, Bobby Chiu of Imaginism Studios hosts a weekly Live Streaming series called the Chiu Stream! He just finished up his interview with Comic Legend Mike Mignola creator of Hellboy (which you can rewatch on the stream)! Every week(or I think its still weekly) he hosts a contest with a subject from the artist hes interviewing and everybody has to draw their interpretation to get voted on… The winner of this gets a free sketch from whoever hes interviewing! Its a really great thing to be apart of and really fun. So if youre an artist you should give it a shot when he announces his next interview .

So, this week my Frankenstein image was chosen as the winner by Mike Mignola! I’m super pumped to get my original sketchhh, gonna get a nice frame mmmm. So yea, its totally worth it to participate! Although I do think I’ll be bowing out of the whole thing for awhile do to a massive workload looming on the horizon D:.

But yea, thanks again to Bobby Chiu and everyone at Imaginism for this awesome opportunity! And again, if you can you gotta participate! Just follow his twitter and he’ll probably announce the next one soon.

syawal is over, three days ago to be precise.
personally, in a way, i’m thankful it’s over, what with endless ‘open house’ invitation to fulfill. not that i’m against open house, but then, it’s too much la.
starting from 1st syawal till the last day, invitations kept coming in. i think people here have got the concept of eidul fitr all wrong. yes it’s true that we should invite and attend to guests during 1st syawal, but the coming days after that should be a moderate affair. instead, what the masses were doing was attending and holding open house. it’s a month to reconcile and to start anew. but having sumptious meals almost daily after fasting for a month doesnt make sense. the occasional open house done maybe during the first week of syawal would be a better option. if not, the perception will be that the muslims @ malays here are indulging themselves in over eating as well as overdoing things. it’s like an overkill. a little of these stuffs would be a wonderful memory but if it’s too much, then there’s nothing special anymore.
looking at it the way i see it, glad it’s over.
