I can’t believe that in exactly 7 days from now, I’ll be boarding my plane to go to Bali! I haven’t even been able to think about my trip much less pack. But I have started putting things aside on the corner of my couch to start a “packing pile”. Do you ever do that?  It’s as if 1/2 the work is done if you already know what you need to take. As you can see, all I know is that I’m taking my bathing suits, guide books, wraps, and a book my assistant gave me, “She’s Come Undone”.

I also started a list of friends and family that I want to be sure I get some goodies from Bali for.There are so many special peeps in my life, it seems like a big list. Not sure how I’m going to fit all the goods. I plan on packing very lightly since it’ll be so hot over there. My biggest article of “clothing” is really my heavy duty Manduka yoga mat. I’d bring my travel mat, but since I’ll be practicing every day, I just need to suck it up and carry it on the plane with me. Do you have any packing tips or suggestions on what to bring?

I’m back!! And I’m better than ever. Well… sort of. There’s the cold that I picked up on the last day (I do not recommend flying with a head-cold. It’s uncomfortable to say the absolute least.)

On that first day I thought seriously about updating you all every day on all the fun I was having, but then common sense kicked in. I decided that instead of spending my holiday writing about all the fun I was going to have, and worrying about the Wolf Pack, and Ran, and Tiny, and Andre and Rump… I’d just go out and actually have my holiday, and forget about all the other crap.

It worked too. I had an amazing time.

On the first day I took off my watch, shut down my laptop, and turned off my phone. (On that note, who the hell takes a phone on holiday to a tropical island??!! What the F*@K was I thinking?)

Then I proceeded to have the best eight days of my life!

I’ve got a ton of pics, so Ill share some of them with you now…. I’d like a chance to brag a bit I think, before I tackle that whole Wolf, Pack, and Ran issue. (Growl, hiss, moan.)

This is me scuba diving. I had a super time, the water was clear, and warm, and this amazing turquoise blue color.

This is the beach across the road from my mansion. It was almost literally a hop skip and a jump from my front door. (I say almost literally, because it’s generally a bad idea to hop skip and jump over a road full of scooter-mounted drunk tourists.)

My mansion. I had a huge bedroom, and there was a big lounge, and a water-cooler, and a dishwasher and a laundry with room for my mountain bike and snorkeling gear, and a BBQ, and outdoor lounging furniture.

Originally I booked for something a bit more… modest… but I suspect one of the Pack had a bit of extra time and cash on his/her hands. (I should be angry that they played around with my bookings, but let’s face it,  it was an amazing batch, in an amazing location.)

Puaikura Reef Lodge is the name of the place in case you’re curious.

Oh, and that row of trees Coconut Trees!!! Eeeee!

Look more coconut palms!!! They were everywhere… Just growing coconuts!

(I am disproportionately excited about the coconut palms. I know. I can’t explain it… They just get my tail wagging.)

This is a hand sized gecko that they called a Moko. They got inside every night, and drove me crazy… (Well it was the wolf really… she wanted to chase them.)

I made lots of canine friends too – like actual dogs, not shifters. The Island is full of dogs just roaming about as they please. Every time I went out for a walk, or to the beach another one followed me home to hang out on my porch.

The over all friendliness makes me think that Ran, Andre, and Doc are full of baloney when they tell me that domesticated animals don’t like us wolves. If anything these guys were more friendly because I was wolfy.

And yeah there were shifters on the island. The Alpha came and introduced himself while I was wandering through town one day, and I kind of greeted him politely and had a wee chat (mentioning that I was taking  break from Pack politics and all that entails). they all pretty much steered clear of me after that.

I think Ran had given advance notice that I’d be there, and I’d probably want to be left alone to do my own thing. When I caught scent of Pack members they’d generally give me a friendly ‘Kia Orana’ and then carry on with whatever they’d been doing.

Of course I did make some people friends while I was out and about. There were a couple of couples that I shared the bus over that I had a few BBQ’s with, and there were a few people that I met while diving, and the odd random, like this guy who I met while visiting one of the clubs.

He helped me get home after the busses had stopped running for the night. He also brought me chicken and introduced me to his uncles. (He had lots of them.)

I think he would have been open to being a bit more friendly, but all in all, I wasn’t really interested. Sure. I’m not with Ran… But I’m also not exactly not with Ran… And at that point I hadn’t exactly figured out where I stood with Ran, and all the royally fucked up shit that happened before I left.

I think I have a clearer idea now though.

I went for a ton of walks at night, all over the place. My favorite spot to walk was the beach, but every night it would be swarming with these crabs. Instead of accidentally standing on them I had to affect a kind of a shuffley walk, and kick up enough sand to scare them out of my path.

This is a photo taken by one of the girls I got to know at the lodge. That’s me snorkeling in the lagoon, and one of the dogs I made friends with waiting to follow me home again after I was done.

The lagoon is the flat 1-2m deep bit of light colored water that stretches around the island. You can see the strip of white where the waves break against the reef, and beyond it is the ocean ( all the darker blue water stretching out to the horizon.)

I went snorkeling every day, and swimming twice a day, and I tried out my first sea kayak here… I even went skinny dipping on one of my night walks… It was a bit freaky, because despite knowing that sharks don’t venture into the lagoon, I still pictured jaws taking a bite out of my shiny white naked rump.

I have a huge fear of sharks… I read somewhere that they can smell dog in the water from miles away… I don’t know what the stats are on wolf, and in all honesty I really don’t want to know…

I also went horse trekking up in the bush, and for a gallop and a swim on the beach. It was amazing fun, I haven’t been on a horse since back in my rural town high-school days. I used to freaking LOVE it though. It’s one of the things I miss most about living in the city.

This is Betsy, my horse… I was a bit scared that I wasn’t going to be able to do the trek because of that whole werewolf thing, so I jumped on my mountain bike at 5am the morning before the trek, and biked up the hill to meet all the horses. I’ll admit they were a bit freaked out to begin with, because we wolves smell like predators, even if they’re not sure exactly what type.

Fortunately sugar, apples, and carrots hold the same sway over Rarotongan horses as it does for regular main-land horses. After two mornings of getting up early to sneak them treats when I did show up for the trek I was nearly mobbed by horses and ponies wanting to come get their share when I showed up for the real thing.

The tour operator thought it was very strange…

Cook Island busses… They’re unbearably cute. They have two routes, the clockwise, and the anti clockwise…

The island is too small for anything more than that really, there’s one main road that runs in a loop around the beach, and one inner road with a few smaller gravel-type tracks that lead off to farm areas and up into the mountains (which look like something from Jurassic Park.)

I’l finish up with a photo of this wee cutie… She popped up from behind the house one day while I was napping outside. She was all shy and scared, and crawled up to me on her belly to make friends.

When she was sure I wasn’t going to kick her around she got more playful, and let me cut the burrs and grass seeds out of the long hair behind her ears, and between her toes, and untwist all the old string, and grass, and flax from around her collar. (If there’s one complaint I have about Rarotonga it’s the way they treat their dogs. They have very hard lives.)

Later that day I fed her some custard pudding that I bought from the community market and gave her a bowl of water from the cooler. Pretty much right then and there she decided that I was her new owner.

She spent the next five days hanging out with me and trailing me everywhere. I taught her how to dig in the sand (as human…. I didn’t shift while I was overseas – just in case!)

In short? I totally fell in love. I refrained from giving her a new name because I knew it would be hard to let her go when it was time to leave, and I was so right. The lack of a name didn’t help. I still miss her like crazy.

I’m kinda hoping that her owners have wised up and decided to get her desexed and registered (you have to desex your dog to be allowed to register it.) If they don’t she runs the real risk of being caught and shot on sight by the dog control officer (they don’t have a pound for un-registered dogs. They are killed immediately.)

Alright, I’m dying for some sleep and my ears are throbbing (stupid headcold+flight!) I’ll update a little more about the fun stuff I did on holiday, and about the Pack later on.

(In all honesty I haven’t seen the Pack yet… It is still only a few hours since my plane came in though, so it’s possible they plan to annoy me at a later stage tomorrow after I’ve had some sleep.)

I’m pleased to say my feng shui is working. It’s been several months since I’ve actively updated my site and been blogging. After the Feng Shui and Money course that I taught earlier this year, changes started happening very rapidly. I’ve moved. I’m in a new home. My life has been transforming …

I’ve been keeping busy with many things, piano lessons, getting ready for ski and snowboarding season, and going to first grade school events. Had a good scuba diving trip to Maui, Hawaii. Dove with manta rays at night, dove with eagle rays in the daytime, saw frog fish and many other sea creatures.

Just a couple short weeks after my Hawaii scuba diving trip, we moved two households into one. This summer was full of packing, selling things, thowing things away, donating items, unpacking, sorting, organizing and de-cluttering!

Buenos días; mirad, quiero comentaros algo, en realidad a los clientes de ADSL de Telefónica.
Uno de los paquetes más extendidos ahora mismo es el de 6MB, ¿bien? hay promociones que permíten ampliarlo a 10MB por unos meses manteniendo la misma cuota. Pues visto esto nos vamos al apartado de la factura en el que dice Servicios no asociados a Puesto. Ahí vemos que aparecen desglosados el servicio ADSL y el Equipamiento y en este último tenemos Escritorio, 3′50€ y Protección Antivirus y Firewall, 6′00€.

A mí no me han instalado ningún antivirus ni ningún firewall. Y no quiero que lo hagan, me las apaño con lo que tengo. Y como resulta que llamando al 900101010 de Atención al Cliente puedes darlos de baja, el Escritorio y la Protección Antivirus con el Firewall porque son servicios extras que ellos ofrecen, he rebajado 11′02€ la factura típica.

Bueno, yendo un poquito más allá, si llamas para decirles que te quieres dar de baja para volver a darte de alta y poder acogerte a la oferta que has visto en su web entonces te descuentan un 50% durante séis meses… esto junto con lo de antes hace que de pagar un mínimo de 58€ pases a pagar ¡¡23€!!, IVA incluído y llamadas a móviles a parte. Yo creo que está bien la cosa.
