Pageonce’s updated iPhone app brilliantly combines all your online accounts into one app .

Since I live in Bucharest I’m always looking for ways to save time (if you don’t know why you’ve never been to Bucharest). This weeks entry for the site of the week saves me lots of time. At first glance Pageonce looks like another start page, but it is a lot more. It is actually like a personal assistant where you can add your online accounts and access them all from one place with one secure password.

You can add banking/billpay sites, social networking sites, even add your Netflix or frequent flyer account site. There are tons of sites that you can add. When you do you just access your Pageonce site to see them all in one place.

I added all of my email accounts also so I can see my gmail, hotmail, and yahoo accounts all at once. I even added my Vonage account and my ebay account. This site saves me a lot of time.

Welcome to the Pageonce blog. Just wanted to give everyone an update on where we’ve been, where we’re at and where we’re headed.

Thank you to all our private beta users – your great feedback helped us greatly enhance and improve our app for our public beta launch.

Our public launch also brought us continued daily response from users on feature enhancements, new requests, and overall product ideas. This feedback too has been invaluable.

The release of our iPhone application, A Personal Assistant, in mid-July upped our daily registrants to the tens of thousands and we realized that, like many sources are pointing to, mobile technology holds great potential for the future. So we set to work on creating our first BlackBerry application, dated to be released very soon, although we can’t say exactly when yet.

ขั้นตอนการใช้งาน PageOnce

1. สมัครสมาชิกเว็บ PageOnce ที่นี่ (ฟรี) รอรับอี-เมลจาก PageOnce และคลิกยืนยันการสมัครสมาชิก

2. คลิกที่ปุ่มสีเขียว ซ้ายมือที่เขียนว่า “Add Account”

3. จะมีหน้าต่างใหม่เปิดขึ้นมา โดยแบ่งแยกออกเป็น 6 หมวดหมู่อย่างชัดเจน ดังนี้

1. Travel: บริการออนไลน์ของสารการบินดังๆ อาทิ Cathey Pacific, Lufthansa, United Airlines

2. Social: บริการของเว็บไซต์เครือข่ายทางสังคมออนไลน์ดังๆที่คนไทยนิยมกันมากมาย อาทิ Hi5, Facebook, MySpace, Photobucket, Lasfm, Twitter, Flickr, Multiply

3. Email: สามารถเช็กอี-เมลของทุกผู้ให้บริการ อาทิ Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail

4. Finance: บริการทางการเงินออนไลน์ อันนี้จะเป็นพวกเครดิตการ์ดต่างๆ อาทิ Citibank, American Express, HSBC เป็นต้น โดยจะแสดงรายละเอียดการใช้งานบัตรเครดิตอย่างละเอียด

เมื่อกรอกรายละเอียดทั้งหมดตั้งแต่ครั้งแรกแล้ว ที่เหลือก็เพียงกดปุ่มแรก ที่เขียนว่า “At Once” ที่เมนูด้านบน คุณก็จะพบว่ามีกล่อง หรือช่องต่างๆปรากฎขึ้นเต็มไปหมด ซึ่งภายในแต่ละกล่องจะแสดงรายละเอียดข้อมูลล่าสุดของแต่ละบริการ ตามจำนวนที่คุณเพิ่มเอาไว้ในตอนแรก

I’m kind of a control freak when it comes to managing money, I constantly check my bank account and credit cards. I was searching for Iphone apps that would resemble mint.com’s functionality and found the pageonce iphone app. Hearing the description about this app sounded like a perfect fit for me, check multiple financial websites next to social networking sites…..i would save so much time! I was wary of giving my account information to ANOTHER financial management website seeing as I use Mint already, but the pageonce website sells its advanced security features very well. Also, the ability of checking my Netflix queue and multiple MySpace accounts with one login appealed to me, it sounded like its all I’ve wanted from this type of website. While pageonce does what is advertised, I feel its design could be much more elegant. The icons are much too small and the interface is sparse, having only buttons. Once logged in there isn’t much I can do with the limited account information provided. To actually change something I would have to login to the actual website, I can’t change anything from the app. It really feels like just a screenshot of the account, which will be fine for some people, but I feel I need more features, such as checking the due dates on credit card payments. I feel while pageonce does do what it’s supposed to, it could be capable of much more. I look forward to pageonce 2.0.

Verdict: C

I’ve had my sunglasses on, prepared for this moment. Sure, all the bright light’s and sounds buzzing for the debut of iPhone 3G has finally won over first-timers, and tempted many early-adopters into upgraders.

But not this guy. No thanks.

So let’s cover the basics: it’s plastic, it’s faster (which is very subjective), and it has GPS.

And?

While great for those who haven’t been able to enjoy the touch screen splendor, us grounded folks are fine with what we have. Sexy-gun metal back, comparable EDGE network speeds (it’s a cell phone: let’s be realistic here). And, what’s great is Steve Jobs and co. haven’t left us in the dark.

Firmware update 2.0 rolled out over the past couple days, introducing a slew of new features to non-upgraders, Gen 1-sustainers. While they do not transform your phone completely, the latest and greatest offerings from Apple certainly will change your experience significantly enough, so that those 3G’rs don’t leave us feeling cheated.

Push-email (getting your e-mail updated as they come in, versus timed updates) makes keeping up with correspondance simpler and more organized. For the workaholics out there, iPhone 2.0 now accepts Microsoft Exchange accounts, allowing to check work emails while trying to relax during the weekends. Blah, it’s there, use it if you need to. And, when trying to get delete all those pesky e-mails you have been so carefully trying to avoid, users can now multi-trash messages, rather than the painful one-by-one method the earlier system has adopted.

Email aside, the biggest addition, and probably the only one really worth mentioning, is the App Store, providing applications created by developers world-wide. To iPhone Jailbreakers, this isn’t the latest and greatest under the sun. But this official introduction’s fixes the jailbreak battery drain, which came from applications continuing to run and use power, even though they technically aren’t in use. Jobs alluded to this in the iPhone 3G keynote earlier this summer, and seems to have made good on it.

Downloading applications doesn’t necessarily require a wi-fi connection that the iPhone iTunes store does, but you certainly do benefit from being able to download and install apps at a much faster rate. You can read more about the finer workings of the App Store at Apple’s official site.

Apple really does offer an application for almost everything and anyone, and does feature a decent amount of free apps. While I have only partook in the freebies, there were a few relatively cheap apps, such as a complete NY Subway System listing, that I will most likely purchase.

Also, not to downplay my own critique, but Gizmodo live-blogged their app testing, which, of course, puts mine to shame.

So far, my free favorites are:

- Remote : allows users to control their iTunes library wirelessly over their home network. The response time is super quick, and displays just as if I were playing music on my phone:

- Save Benjis: a great app for those who like to price match ANYTHING. Say you’re in Best Buy, and you’re not totally convinced they have the best deal on that LCDTV you have eye on. Save Benjis’ easy to use search by keyword (and for even more specific terms, search by Barcode!) blankets the web for the product, and lists out prices the competitors offer. Certainly going to be using this gem in a few weeks. Samsung LCD here I come!

- PageOnce :pulls in almost any online account, social network, and email you may have. You can view your upcoming cell phone bill, update your Twitter, while you make another business connection on LinkedIn. I love being able to access all my credit card debt that is crushing my financial future all at once!

- Facebook: Not bad-mouthing the very-sleek web app that rolled out last summer, but the new officially iPhone integrated Facebook app allows much easier browsing in a semi-familiar setting. The app lets users utilize the new Facebook chat feature, which actually will run simutaniously while signed on with a computer, and also separate Inbox messaging. Anyone with an iPhone can attest to the annoying “Post” button that’s wedged in too tight.

- Midomi: one of my top favorite amongst the group, mostly because it subtly tells Chris Cornell and Verizon’s V-Cast Song-ID service that they DO NOT STOP RUNNING AT THE MOVIES to kindly suck it. Midomi IDs a song based on your own humming and singing, and finds that song that you don’t know, but is stuck in your head. Plus, it blends in a social network aspect, by allowing users to create profiles and showcase their own humming and singing tracks. Try and find my singing. It’s the one that sounds like a cat getting a Brazilian waxing.

I have just discovered that Facebook does not allow PageOnce to access it. This is after I have just recently opened accounts at both sites. I have my entire Internet world on PageOnce — except for Facebook. Facebook has blocked PageOnce. I thought that Facebook was a “social” application? How sociable is it for Facebook to NOT allow me to include my Facebook account on my PageOnce page? The entire world is there, except for Facebook. Apparently, Facebook is not keeping up with technology, always a bad sign. Facebook seems to be already losing it. There has got to be a better social site.

Anyone able to use the pageonce service with a checking account?

It’s not working with my bank account.

Isn’t it annoying and a waste of time to constantly forget the passwords to your different online accounts and have to log-in over and over? Wouldn’t it be nice to log onto an internet homepage that displays all of your accounts, already logged in and automatically updated — email accounts, bank accounts, bill payment accounts, news feeds etc.?

PageOnce, an Israeli startup with offices in Silicon Valley and Israel, is in the development stage of a site that tries to offer exactly that kind of homepage. Started by ex-Mercury Interactive (sold to Hewlett-Packard) employees Guy Goldstein and Ahikam Kaufman, the site is now in beta but set to launch officially in the second quarter of this year.

I had a chance to ask Aimen Minhas, VP of Marketing, a few questions:

What is the main need or problem that PageOnce is trying to solve or the service that it is trying to supply?

“The ability to more efficiently and more securely manage all of your online accounts from one location- saving time and energy.”

Who do you envision as your primary users?

“Anyone that has more than 5 or 6 internet accounts.”

What are the main challenges in building this kind of site?

“Our technology allows bi directional communications between providers and our service– this is not easy to replicate.”

What methods are you considering for revenue generation?

“Many paths for revenue generation– one path allowing our providers to deliver real time one to one marketing.”

And what additional features are in the works beyond just an account aggregator, if any?

There’s an interesting discussion on Mark Evan’s blog about the potential of a killer application for OpenID:

One of the biggest challenges facing OpenID is it’s a solution (universal identity management) looking for a problem to solve.

Sure, it’s a pain having to remember different usernames and passwords (unless you lazily use the same ones for everything) but most people don’t see it as a huge issue, which means OpenID has failed to gain much traction. And to be frank, that won’t change much even with major players such as Google, Yahoo and AOL starting to climb on the OpenID bandwagon recently.

One of the applications the Evan’s points to with some enthusiasm is PageOnce, which is a universal dashboard for the web.
