Pakistan hockey team defeated India in a sensational contest in the final to win a gold medal in the South Asian Games here on Sunday. Both teams played 1-1 draw in the allotted time and Wasif Siddiq made the only goal for Pakistan. However, no team could score any goal in extra time and the match was decided on penalty strokes. Pakistan made four against three goals and won the title.

Pak considers it a big insult that none of its 11 players were selected in auction for IPL-III. The points made by Pak sports minister are as follows

• That for auction there should have been at least one bidder showing interest.
• That India is not serious about ‘peace processes with Pak, by snubbing Pak. Players.

India’s defense is that

• Visa was never an issue as visas have been issued to Pak players post 26/11 (great Indians!)
• Government can’t intervene in commercial understandings such as IPL is.

Some of the news papers have come out editorials with different views

• Some say it was indeed unpleasant and if there was no intention then they should not have been included in the auction.
• Some others point out that Pak forbade its cricketers from playing in IPL-II in the aftermath of 26/11 citing security reasons. There may not be any matches of world cup-2011 considering attack on Srilankan cricketers on their soil.

May I add the following points as my views?

• Irrespective of the diplomatic chakkar people of India consider Pak as the nation which instigated 26/11.
• The IPL Franchisees sensed the mood of the people as they know their profits depended on what people want.
• It was not the government which intimidated the franchisees, our press is too free to let such things go scot free. What if, on the other hand it was the government which gave one last chance to the Pak players by allowing them to come under hammer even when there was no interest shown by  any franchisee, hoping for a last minute change of heart among the franchisee, in the interests of the ‘peace process’.
• Last year when Indian Government assured proper security to IPL matches notwithstanding general elections, the IPL took independent decision to shift venue to South Africa. So much for their listening to the Government.

What if the Pak players were really banned from auction? Will not Pak still accuse India of blocking peace process?

What if India allowed Pak players to freely move around and make blood money on this soil, will Indian people  ever forgive the Government, which is already perceived as ‘soft’?

So what was the best option available for India? Commercial Interests was a great way out, and intentions were immaterial. kudos to Indian government which allowed a little self respect for Indians. All praise for IPL for the same reason. This is one instance India got real. As for Pak, they have reacted the usual way typical of Pak ; always unreasonable and aggressive. You can’t blame them because they are used to getting away with such aggressiveness and unreasonableness in the past.

By the way what is peace process, initiated by whom, the aggressor or the injured or a third party in its own interests?

Does the aggressor have a right to demand it?

Does an offender have a right to pardon, even without asking for it?

Pakistani Christian youth Imran Masih was convicted under the evil Anti-Christian law of blaspheming the koran. and sentenced to life behind bars for supposedly destroying a koran. While at work  Imran Masih was throwing away trash and waste paper in a fire, a muslim stated that he had in fact been throwing a koran into the fire. This is a common ploy used by muslims to incite local the muslim community and to bring accusations on Christian that they are desecrating a koran. The local muslims severly beat Masih and he was arrested and thrown into jail and was framed for this outrageous law vilolation.

Christians do you want these type of muslims in your community?  Someday, do you want to be sent to prison under these kind of laws.  Speak up against this evil pakistani muslim law!

Sebuah Sisi Jama’ah Haji Kita

Ada suatu fenomena yang unik di kalangan jama’ah haji kita khususnya, yaitu ketika selesai bertahalul, maka ada sedikit perubahan dalam panggilan nama mereka yakni penambahan sebutan Haji/Hajjah di depannya. Demikian pula setelah kepulangan mereka ke tanah air, sebutan kehormatan tersebut masih terus melekat pada namanya. Rasanya tidak afdhal jika kita memanggilnya tanpa mendahului dengan sebutan itu. Hal ini dikarenakan mulianya perjalanan ibadah tersebut yang merupakan paripurnanya rukun Islam yang lima, di samping memang membutuhkan pengorbanan yang besar baik tenaga, biaya maupun waktu, sehingga tidak semua orang Islam mampu menunaikannya. Panggilan itu boleh jadi adalah sebagai penghormatan karena telah sukses melakukan acara ritual yang agung, atau mungkin juga bermula dari panggilan yang biasa digunakan oleh penduduk asli Arab ketika memanggil jamaah haji dengan “Ya Hajj” karena memang tidak tahu siapa namanya.

Bagi mereka yang memiliki latar belakang ilmu syar’i, insya Allah, panggilan haji tersebut bukanlah masalah besar yang harus dipersoalkan. Artinya, dia tidak akan peduli apakah nantinya dia dipanggil pak haji, bu haji atau tetap dengan panggilan sebelum ia menunaikan haji. Toh tujuan dan niatnya adalah semata-mata untuk beribadah kepada Allah SWT. Dan memang demikianlah hendaknya setiap jamaah haji berniat dalam perjalanan hajinya, sebab jika niatnya lain, misalnya agar disebut bapak atau ibu haji, maka ia tidak akan memperoleh bagian apa-apa di sisi Allah SWT, kecuali panggilan tersebut. Hal ini dikarenakan Allah SWT tidak akan menerima amalan, kecuali yang dilakukan secara ikhlash semata-mata karenaNya dan sesuai dengan tuntunan RasulNya SAW. Allah SWT berfirman, artinya, “Padahal mereka tidak disuruh kecuali supaya menyembah Allah dengan memurnikan keta’atan kepadaNya dalam (menjalankan) agama yang lurus, dan supaya mereka mendirikan shalat dan menunaikan zakat; dan yang demikian itulah agama yang lurus.” (QS. al-Bayyinah: 5).

Rasulullah SAW bersabda, “Barangsiapa melakukan suatu amalan yang tidak ada tuntunannya dari kami, maka amalan tersebut tertolak.” (HR. Muslim)

Dalam hadits lain, khusus berkenaan dengan haji, beliau SAW bersabda, “Hendaklah kalian mengambil dariku manasik (cara-cara) kalian dalam berhaji.” (HR. Muslim).

Namun realitasnya, teori di atas tidak sepenuhnya terpraktekkan, sebab tidak semua orang faham dan mengetahui tujuan haji yang sebenarnya. Bahkan, yang sudah tahu pun terkadang masih terkalahkan oleh hawa nafsunya, sehingga ketika ada orang lain memanggilnya tanpa sebutan haji, maka dadanya agak terasa sempit dan telinga sedikit merah karena kurang suka, lebih-lebih jika itu di depan khalayak ramai. Bahkan di antara mereka ada yang ketika dipanggil namanya atau disapa tidak menjawab sebagaimana mestinya, justru berujar, “Saya sudah dua kali pergi haji lho!” Yakni menghendaki agar orang lain memanggilnya dengan sebutan haji.

Dalam kasus ini perlu digaris bawahi, bahwa kita tidak bermaksud melarang orang menghormati orang lain dengan memberi sebutan haji. Yang perlu diluruskan adalah bahwa perjalanan haji adalah perjalanan ibadah untuk menuju Allah SWT dan mengharap keridhaanNya, bukan untuk mendapatkan embel-embel tersebut. Adapun setelah itu ada orang yang memanggil dengan bapak atau ibu haji, maka itu adalah persoalan lain dan bukannya tujuan, hanya saja jika kebiasaan tersebut (harus memanggil haji) tidak dibudayakan, maka bisa jadi hal itu akan memperbaiki niat orang yang akan melakukan rukun Islam ke-5 ini.

Makna haji yang sebenarnya

al-Allamah Abu Abdillah Muhammad bin Abdir Rahman al-Bukhari al-Hanafi menjelaskan bahwa haji maknanya adalah bermaksud atau menuju (al-qashdu). Niat dan maksud adalah pekerjaan yang paling utama sebab ia hanya dilakukan oleh anggota badan termulia yaitu hati. Karena ibadah haji ini merupakan ibadah yang besar dan sangat utama, juga memuat ketaatan yang sangat berat, maka disebutlah ia al-hajj yang berarti al-qashdu (dinisbatkan kepada amalan hati karena keutamaannya, red). Dan mengenai pentingnya niat dalam haji dan umrah, Allah SWT berfirman, artinya, “Dan sempurnakanlah haji dan umrah itu karena Allah.” (QS. al-Baqarah: 196).

Oleh karena itu seseorang yang pergi haji meskipun pergi menuju baitullah (ka’bah), namun sebenarnya yang jadi tujuan adalah Rabbul Ka’bah Allah SWT Rabb seru sekalian alam. Maka ketika seorang berhaji tiba di Ka’bah, dan sebelumnya ia tahu bahwa pemilik rumah tersebut tidak ada di sana, berputar-putarlah ia mengelilingi rumah itu yakni thawaf, dan ini merupakan isyarat bahwa ka’bah bukanlah maksud dan tujuan, namun Allah SWT pemilik Ka’bahlah tujuannya.

Begitu pula ketika mencium Hajar Aswad, bukan untuk mengagungkan atau menyembah batu, tapi semata-mata karena mengikuti sunnah Rasul SAW. Dan inilah yang membedakan antara seorang muslim dan musyrik. Dulu kaum musyrikin menciumnya karena benar-benar menyembahnya, sedang seorang muslim melakukan itu adalah karena mengikuti sunnah.

Ibnu Abbas mengibaratkan bahwa menyentuh atau mencium Hajar Aswad seolah-olah ia menjabat atau mencium tangan kanan Allah SWT, sehingga ketika seorang haji menyentuhnya, hendaknya tertanam dalam benak bahwa ia sedang berbai’at kepada Allah SWT, pencipta dan pemilik Hajar Aswad yang telah memerintahkan untuk melakukan itu. Berbai’at di sini maknanya berjanji untuk selalu taat dan tunduk kepada Allah SWT, kemudian selalu ingat, bahwa jika mengkhianati bai’at tersebut akan berhadapan dengan murka dan adzabNya.

Dari sini para ulama menganjurkan, bahwa kewajiban pertama bagi calon haji adalah bertaubat, memperbaiki ketakwaan dan inilah sebaik-baik bekal. Allah SWT berfirman, artinya, “Berbekallah, dan sesungguhnya sebaik-baik bekal adalah takwa.” (QS. al-Baqarah: 197).

Dan tak mungkin seseorang akan membawa bekal takwa ini jika tidak bertaubat dan meninggalkan segala jenis kemaksiatan.

Jika orang yang berhaji telah memahami makna dan tujuan berhaji, maka ketika melantunkan talbiyah akan meresap dalam jiwa, bahwa seolah-olah ia sedang meninggalkan segala atribut keduniaan dan menuju Allah SWT seraya mengatakan, “Ya Allah aku datang, aku datang memenuhi panggilanMu, aku berdiri di pintuMu, aku singgah di sisiMu. Aku pegang erat kitabMu, aku junjung tinggi aturanMu, maka selamatkan aku dari adzabMu, kini aku siap menghamba kepadaMu, merendahkan diri dan berkiblat kepadaMu. milikMu segala ciptaan, bagimu segala aturan dan perundang-undangan, bagiMu seluruh hukum dan hukuman, tiada sekutu bagiMu. Tak peduli aku berpisah dengan sanak keluarga, kutinggalkan profesi dan pekerjaan, kulepas segala atribut dan jabatan karena tujuanku hanyalah wajah dan keridhaanMu, bukan dunia yang fana bukan nafsu yang serakah maka amankan aku dari adzabMu.”

Setelah Para Haji Pulang.

Banyak oleh-oleh yang dibawa pulang oleh para jama’ah haji, namun ada satu oleh-oleh yang sangat berharga, dan hanya bisa disimpan dalam hati dan dada. Oleh-oleh yang semua orang pasti suka untuk menerimanya. Tak lain adalah kebersihan jiwa dan akhlak. Inilah yang selayaknya dibawa pulang oleh mereka yang menunaikan haji. Alangkah indahnya jika sepulang haji yang dulu kikir, menjadi dermawan, penjahat menjadi penebar salam, bandar judi menjadi ketua majlis ta’lim, dan ribuan bahkan jutaan orang mengubah jalan hidupnya bersama-sama satu tujuan menuju Allah SWT. Tak ada lagi pejabat penerima sogok, hakim berat sebelah, pengusaha ataupun pedagang licik, curang dan lain-lain.

Apalah artinya pergi haji jika hanya sekedar untuk menambah sebutan, namun yang korup tetap korup, yang lintah darat tetap lintah darat, yang bakhil malah makin menjadi-jadi. Padahal perbuatan jahat dan fasik itu harus ditinggalkan kapan saja bukan hanya ketika melakukan haji. Jika seseorang masih sama buruk dan jahatnya antara sebelum dan sesudah haji, bahkan malah lebih parah, maka suatu pertanda bahwa kepergiannya ke tanah suci hanyalah sia-sia, sebab ia tak mampu mengambil sesuatu yang paling berharga dari perjalanan tersebut.

Maka hendaknya setiap orang yang akan melakukan ibadah haji sadar dan mengetahui bahwa perjalanan yang akan ia tempuh adalah perjalanan ibadah yang agung dan mulia sehingga harta yang digunakan untuk itu adalah dari penghasilan yang baik dan halal. Di samping itu ia harus mempelajari tata cara manasik yang benar, sesuai dengan tuntunan Rasulullah SAW. Dengan demikian diharapkan haji yang ia lakukan akan menjadi haji yang mabrur yang diterima di sisi Allah SWT bukannya maghrur (tertipu) atau mabur (bhs Jawa) yang hanya sekedar terbang naik pesawat saja.

Janganlah sekali-kali kita punya niat agar mendapat sebutan pak haji dan bu haji saja, lalu bangga jika orang memanggil dengan sebutan itu, sekali-kali jangan. Kalau seandainya orang satu kampung tidak ada yang memanggil kita dengan sebutan itu, maka sesungguhnya Allah SWT Maha Tahu bahwa kita telah menunaikannya dan Allah SWT akan memberi balasan sesuai dengan niat dan usaha kita. India Army ready for war against China, Pakistan.

Shimla-based Indian Army Training Command, headed by Lt-General A S Lamba is getting ready for something Indian Military never was ready before. Indian Air Force, Navy, and Army is ready to face Pakistan and China at the same time.

India’s 1.13-million strong Military is now panning to handle two major war fronts at the same time. India considers Pakistan and China as part of the same camp. India knows the next war will be between India and Pakistan+China. India will get indirect support from America and Russia, but Indian Military will have to fight the two war at the same time.

Indian Military has been training for the mini giant war against two nuclear powered nations at the same time. China has used Pakistan for a long time to keep India busy. Now time has come for India to recognize a massive threat from China and Pakistan at the same time.

Indian Army chief General Deepak Kapoor emphasizes that India is ready for the successful firming-up of the cold start strategy (to be able to go to war promptly) in the multiple fronts against multiple different militias at the same time.

The plan is a full thrust assault into multiple anomies at the same time with massive Air Force superiority. If attacked by Pakistan and china at the same time, India will launch self-contained and highly-mobile `battle groups”, with Russian-origin T-90S tanks and upgraded T-72 M1 tanks at their core, adequately backed by far superior air cover and artillery fire assaults, for rapid thrusts into enemy territory within 96 hours.

India plans to end the war decisively within the first 96 hours forcing the other sides into a fast submission of ceasefire.

People’s Liberation Army is aware of the capacities of Indian Army and Air Force. It will be exactly opposite of 1962 war. That is why they are busy building massive infrastructure in the Indian border areas especially in Aksai Chin and Tibet.

The real war in that scenario will be between India and China while Pakistan will be used by China to create adequate disturbance for Indian Military. That is the reason why Lt-General A S Lamba of Indian Army is so keen a massive thrust into Rawalpindi to quiet Pakistanis within 48 hours of the start of assault.

India’s biggest advantage is the its software capabilities in integrating signal intelligence with ground intelligence. India will use algorithmic seek and scan technology to counter the Chinese threats in the North and possible Pakistani nuclear threat in the West.

India is focused on integrating its Navy, Army and Air Force into an integrated command and Control system completely controlled and dominated by the superior software algorithms that can prove deadly in the war front. (India Daily)

Blackwater Loses a Job for the C.I.A.

WASHINGTON — The Central Intelligence Agency has terminated a contract with the security company formerly called Blackwater Worldwide that allowed the company to load bombs on C.I.A. drones in Pakistan and Afghanistan, intelligence officials said Friday.

The contract gave employees with the company an operational role in one of the Central Intelligence Agency’s most significant covert programs, which has killed dozens of militants with Predator and Reaper drones. The company’s involvement highlighted the extent to which the C.I.A. had outsourced critical jobs to private companies since the 9/11 attacks.

The contract with the company, now called Xe Services, was canceled this year by Leon E. Panetta, the C.I.A. director, according to a C.I.A. spokesman. In August, The New York Times first revealed the existence of the contract, which was run by a division of the company called Blackwater Select, which handles classified contracts.

George Little, the C.I.A. spokesman, said that Mr. Panetta had ordered that the agency’s employees take over the jobs from Xe employees at the remote drone bases in Pakistan and Afghanistan, and that Mr. Panetta had also ordered a review of all contracts with the company.

“At this time, Blackwater is not involved in any C.I.A. operations other than in a security or support role,” Mr. Little said.

The disclosure about the terminated contract comes a day after The Times reported that Blackwater employees had joined C.I.A. operatives in secret “snatch and grab” operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Blackwater’s role in the raids grew out of contracts that the company had with the spy agency to provide security for the C.I.A. in Kabul and Baghdad.

The company had a dual role in the drone program, said current and former employees and intelligence officials. Contractors on the secret bases assembled and loaded Hellfire missiles and 500-pound laser-guided bombs onto drones, and they also provided security at the C.I.A. bases.

The C.I.A. did not allow contractors to select targets for the drone attacks or pull the trigger on the strikes. That work was done at the C.I.A.’s headquarters in Langley, Va.

But Blackwater’s direct role in the drone operations sometimes led to disputes between the contractors and C.I.A. employees, as the spy agency sometimes accused Blackwater employees of poor weapon assembly if the missile or bomb missed a target. In one instance last year, a 500-pound bomb dropped off a Predator before the drone had launched its payload, leading to a frenzied search along the Afghan-Pakistani border.

A company employee said the bomb was eventually found not far from the intended target.

Many people were miffed by the decision to award the Noble Peace Prize to President Obama within days of his inauguration. Adding to this surprise is the fact that in no major hotspot in the world is closer to peace since the President took office.  North Korea has furthered its nuclear weapons program; Iraq remains violent; Israelis and the Palestinians still fight; Iran is marching towards nuclear weapons; Pakistan is a mess; and the war in Afghanistan has just been escalated with the President’s decision to send an additional 30,000 troops.

In Norway today Noble chairman, Thorbjorn Jagland, explained the Committee made its choice for the award because President Obama’s leadership (election) was a “call to action for all of us.”  That explains it, doesn’t it???

President Obama added to the confusion today during his acceptance speech in Oslo.  The President made surprising comments that included:

• “We must begin by acknowledging the hard truth: we will not eradicate violent conflicts in our lifetimes,”  ….  “There will be times when nations, acting individually or in concert, will find the use of force not only necessary but morally justified.”
• “Whatever mistakes we have made, the plain fact is this, the United States of America has helped underwrite global security for more than six decades with the blood of our citizens and the strength of our arms.”
• “A decade into a new century, this old architecture is buckling under the weight of new threats,”  …..  “The world may no longer shudder at the prospect of war between two nuclear superpowers, but proliferation may increase the risk of catastrophe.  Terrorism has long been a tactic, but modern technology allows a few small men with outsize rage to murder innocents on a horrific scale.”

Boy, that sure sounds like George W. Bush wrote those words, doesn’t it?  Given the eloquent way that the President reminded the crowd of America’s past “noble” actions in the world, one wonders why he apologized for America’s history in his earlier trips abroad?  After all of the President’s criticism of his predecessor, now he justifies American acting “”?  Is that what the Left calls “unilateralism”?

The President also singled out president John F. Kennedy with praise during the speech.  It might be helpful for a historian in the President’s staff to remind him of Kennedy’s actions in the Bay of Pigs and his role in intervening in Vietnam.

The President’s speech will make centrist and even some on the right feel more comfortable.  At the same time it will irritate many on the Left, especially those in Europe.  It seems that the realities of the world is forcing the President’s seemingly bipolar statements.  Didn’t this metamorphosis happen to Jimmy Carter too?

Lack of a cohesive foreign policy is potentially dangerous since it could cause our enemies to misread intentions.  Such miscalculations can lead to unintended conflicts.

Pak Choi, otherwise known as Chinese Cabbage. A recent inclusion in British cuisine, and something that is considered a bit above the normal veggie. It is not exactly exotic (as it is fairly easy to cook), but there is definitely an impressive quality about the vegetable whenever it is eaten by someone who is not of Chinese descent. It is a little bit like someone eating Mackerel for the first time. It impresses anyone who does not realise that us Seychellois use it as dog food.

Now, I felt really guilty about buying the Pak Choi. After all, with all the furore about greenhouse gases, I should have bought something that was grown a little closer to home. What I needed was a little less ‘authenticity’ in my noodles and a little more consideration for the amount of miles my food has had to travel. The vegetable would have been grown somewhere in Asia, chucked onto a tractor towards the warehouse, put on a (refrigerated) lorry, taken to an airport, put in (another refrigerated) warehouse, dumped on a plane, flown thousands of miles, ended up at Schiphol, put on another plane, ended up at Heathrow, trucked to a distribution centre off the M25, then trucked to a warehouse for the supermarket before finally being delivered to the supermarket where I purchased it and drove back home in my own car.

Damn, all that to obtain a texture to my vegetable not normally found in cabbage. I should have just bought the cabbage…

Considering that you can get a whole cabbage for a third of that price, something tells me that I have been swindled by the supermarket. Damn, if I am paying that much, I expect my vegetable to have been flown in on a business class seat!

Well, to look on the bright side, at least the UK is self sufficient in Pak Choi. Hey, it may even be the start of a whole new export industry! I see taxes for this new thriving enterprise…

Tetra Pak has launched the Tetra Therm Aseptic Visco unit for high-viscous and particulate products. The unit is said to cut product losses by up to 50 per cent, boost production flexibility and maximise food safety due to a new heat exchanger. The high-pressure, continuous food-processing unit enables efficient, high-capacity UHT treatment for high-viscous soups and sauces, tomato pastes, custard desserts, fruit preparations, vegetable purees and baby-food products.

Capacity can run up to 18,000l/hr and higher. At the core of the unit is a high-pressure-rated coil tubular heat exchanger, Tetra Vertico, which handles pressures up to 350 bar and enables higher in-pipe velocity and lower system volumes. The technology reduces fouling in the system as the product is less likely to stick to surfaces and burn, reducing cleaning time and enabling longer running hours.

Lower product losses and cleaning volumes translate into reduced waste, simplifying waste handling and lowering environmental impact. The higher pressure in the unit also makes it less sensitive to variations in product viscosity than conventional equipment. The hygienic design of the Tetra Therm Aseptic Visco unit maximises food safety, with the fewest possible welds and easy-to-clean surfaces. Advanced automation ensures total production control and full traceability, while reducing downtime and the risk of human error.

• Pemimpin. Mengembangkan persahabatan dan ketegasan (disiplin)

• Agen sosialisasi sehingga terwujudnya fungsi sosial sekolah sebagai pilar belajar yakni “Learning to know, learning to be, learning to do, learning to live together”.
• Pelajar. Guru tidak berhenti belajar.
• Imam, nabi dan konselor.
• Teolog. Guru PAK harus memiliki pemahaman teologis.

I fan di Berserk, avevano lasciato il Guerriero nero Gaz alle prese con il suo lungo viaggio di vendetta, dopo gli eventi dell’eclissi.
Da quest’Estate, lentamente ma inesorabilmente girano per forum, siti dedicati, ecc, alcune immagini



Quello che è certo è che le immagini risalgono ad un anno fa e sono spuntate fuori dalla casa “Studio 4°C” (Steamboy, Spiggan, Memories, Animatrix).
Dopo anni dalla fine della prima serie animata e un fumetto la cui trama ormai avanza a colpi di magia e maledizioni ci voleva davvero una ventata di novità, in fin dei conti sono passati esattamente 20 anni dalla prima tavola disegnata di Berserk.
Speriamo al più presto di avere altre notizie in proposito…
