Dec 1, 2009 A 21-year-old diabetic student who wanted to end her streak of bad luck, consulted a pal

Dec 1, 2009 A 21-year-old diabetic student who wanted to end her streak of bad luck, consulted a palmist but things only got worse with her becoming his sex slave.

She approached the palmist, identified only as Master Choy, who also claimed to be a feng shui master, in April on the recommendation of her friends.

The 50-year-old palmist told her that the unusually straight lines on her palms were bad and added that at best ,she could only hope to be someone’s mistress.

He also claimed that women with such lines on palms can cause their husbands to die, bring bad luck to the families and have to endure a lot of suffering.

The woman, from Pahang, who had always believed that her diabetes was caused by the “bad lines” on her palms, swallowed Choy’s reading of her fortune.

The same night, he brought her to a hotel room to purportedly perform a cleansing ritual on her. Instead, he molested the student but she did not realise that she was being taken advantage of at that time.

A week later, he told her that she had to sleep with a married man to get rid of all the bad luck.

“Choy, who is married, then offered himself as the ‘antidote’ for my misfortune,” she told a press conference at the MCA Public Services and Complaints Department on Tuesday.

She said after some persuasion, she agreed to have sex with him.

Before having sex, Choy told the student, who is pursuing a degree in nutrition at a college, to give him naked photographs of her, saying that they would to be used in ritual ceremonies to improve her luck.

The woman said she only realised that she had been cheated a few months later when her luck did not change and worse still, she had contracted a sexually transmitted disease from the conman.

She went back to the palmist and threatened to expose him but he slapped her and warned that he would post her nude photographs on the Internet.

The woman said the palmist, who claimed to have secret society links, and his wife threatened to kill her if she lodged a police report.

She was too scared to go against his will and continued to be his sex slave.

The woman claimed that she was also abused and beaten by Choy.

“He wanted me to be there whenever he felt like having sex with me. He would ask me to go the hotel room and would chase me out immediately after sex.

“He only let me go after I contracted the disease. I was scared and worried. I did not know what to do and told my parents,’” she said.

The woman said she would get a lawyer to file a case against Choy.

Department head Datuk Michael Chong advised the people, especially yong women to be wary of bogus mediums, palmists and feng shui masters.

He added that he had received seven of such cases this year, so far.

I was really excited about my interview with Lou from Wild Palms, as they come across as being lovel

I was really excited about my interview with Lou from Wild Palms, as they come across as being lovely and fun, luckily Lou did not disappoint. In this London based band there are four guys; Darrell on the guitar, Gareth on the Bass, James on the drums and finally Lou as their singer. I asked Lou how he found being in a band with his best friends, to which he replied that he really enjoyed being in a band with his closest friends, they have known each other since they were at college. However it was difficult at first as they all had been extremely influential in their previous bands and therefore they thought there might be serious arguments between them. However luckily none of them hold grudges for long and they have now got a really good dynamic.

I think their name wild palms sums up their music perfectly exotic and alternative. Therefore I was shocked to find that they had previously called themselves ex-lion tamers, a name that doesn’t suit them at all. However that name was only a temporary one, until they found their music style and could find a suitable name.

Since the summer life seems to have been an endless holiday for this band with a trip to Dubai in October, which according to Lewis was more of a holiday than anything else. However there was also some hard work involved, as they had to play one of the hardest gigs of their life on an outside stage in blazing heat. The people watching the show were confused and didn’t really know how to react to them, so the band were unsure of what to do, however fortunately for the band the audience let them get on with it and some even started to have fun.

By the time you read this, the band will be touring Italy, which Lou was really excited about. He told me that it was the first time any of them had visited Italy, they have also been given a tour driver for the first time, which is a real luxury for them, they can’t wait to be driven around Italy.

Their single over…time is being launched on the 26th November. This single has been released before, but this time they are releasing it through their managers’ label, which they are really pleased about. They are releasing it as a first single because it is direct and therefore people can latch on to it quickly, which should help them to build up their fan-base.

This single launch shouldn’t be missed as there is going to be free entry and free drinks. I confirmed this with Lou who told me that this was indeed the case, as they have managed to get a drinks sponsor- sweet! However Lou did say that he didn’t expect the drinks to last that long as Darrell’s art exhibition is on before this.

Lots of beautiful things live in our backyard, and I keep finding more flowers, fruits, moss, ferns, mushrooms, bamboo, chickens, a blue eyed cat, geckos and dreaded mosquitoes. It’s not a really big yard, maybe half an acre, but it’s jammed full of growing things and it backs up to a hillside that is just like a jungle. We walk on a boardwalk through a jungle garden and past the koi pond to get to our door. Our place is really small, but I love its location and its back yard, so quiet except for the crowing rooster, calling geckos, singing birds, rustling palms and clacking bamboo.

“I’m a martian.” Miss Q is beside herself, as I re-load her palms with finger-pai

“I’m a martian.” Miss Q is beside herself, as I re-load her palms with finger-paint; one green, the other blue.

“Just stay on that side of the table.” My only parenting command. Though the couches are blue, the paint allegedly washable, I don’t want to clean more than I have to.

“Daddy’s going to say, oh no.” Her laugh is wicked. ”Oh no, look at that martian,” she squeals, smearing more paint on her belly.

How fun is it to be naked, and covered, neck down, in blue-green paint? I wish I could join her. But toddler or posing for Sports Illustrated, I’m not. I grab the camera to capture her moment.

It started selfishly: my quick solution to a bored child. Fearing her idle hands were about to turn upon me, out came the paints.

A squirt of red, blue, green and yellow onto three coffee-filters; some paper spread out on the inherited Fisher Price table; one naked toddler; and voila, Van Gogh could begin.

For five minutes she made up stories, swirling her paint covered fingers on the paper provided.

I was impressed with her careful eye for detail and concentration. Since turning two, her art has turned into more of an event than activity.

So when did she turn from master-painter to martian? It may have been from a splatter of paint on her belly; or, it may have happened when I squirted red paint directly on her palm, instead of the out of reach coffee filters. Yes, it may have been the latter.

But so-what? What’s a little green skin in the name of fun? Crayola states clearly on each paint-bottle’s label, that they’re washable and non-toxic.

Miss Q dances around as her daddy walks through the door. ”What happened to you?” his words are drawn out.

“I’m a martian,” she squeals.

I shrug, with eyebrows raised. ”She’s a martian.”

Now that she’s received the reaction she craved, it’s off to the showers.

Low and behold, Crayola was right. With no soap, just warm water, our little martian emerges an earthling.

The church I yearn for is a unified place, filled with broken people who have been set free. The father hears our cries and reaches out with grace and compassion and whispers good things to us, things that help us to carry on. He looks on us with love and appreciation; He sees the sacrifices we’ve made and the love we’ve lavished on His broken and hurting children, and He is pleased.

This church will be filled with overcomers, with people who have realized and harnessed the power that He can give. We stretch our arms out to him, we open our palms, and we ask for blessing and mercy, to be filled, and to carry such power and compassion that the world has never seen. We place value on that to such a degree that nice buildings and comfortable lifestyles no longer seem important, and we rely not on good music or attractive stages and pastors and messages and worship leaders but on the truth that lies within every page of the gospels, that the world is lost and broken and is seeking redemption in any way they know how.

This church will extend a hand to every broken person it can reach, and it is beautiful. We shine Jesus, speak the words of the Father, and empowered by the Holy Spirit we bring the same healing and love and grace and mercy and compassion that Jesus did.
The church I yearn for is a whole place, and nothing is hidden. No agendas, ulterior motives, and no secret things to keep us from each other and from the world.

we took an instant liking to jenny and richard when we first met them for their engagement session. they have a great sense of humor, are totally in love with each other, have awesome friends that made us feel like part of the “family”—and most importantly—were more than excited about taking pictures. so we couldn’t help but be excited to shoot their wedding at the pacific palms resort. it was a fabulous day filled with fun, lots of love, and beautiful traditions. best of all from the day was the intimate and adoring looks shared between jenny and richard, giving us a little more insight into the love these two share. jenny and richard, we wish you guys a lifetime of happiness and adoring looks.

M. flexuosa is a South American palm, occuring naturally across a large area of the northern regions

M. flexuosa is a South American palm, occuring naturally across a large area of the northern regions, east of the Andes Mountains, including all of Amazonia except its most eastern part. The tree always grows in open sites, along rivers and streams and in swamps from elevations a few hundred feet above sea level to about 3000 feet. In swamps and flatlands it forms immense colonies in the exclusion of most other trees.

The species name “flexuosa” means translates to flexible, in reference to the leaf segments and the massive petioles.

The solitary trunks of this palm can reach heights of 80 feet, with diameters often in excess of 2 ft.

The leaves are 15 feet wide on large petioles up to 30 feet long with four foot wide bases.

Mauritia flexuosa is definitely one of the most massive and impressive and beautiful of all plams. Unfortunately the species is only adaptable to zones 10b and 11. It is nearly aquatic and, although it will grow in drier areas, the tree will not fulfill its growing potential unless planted in moist environs. It prefers acidic soil.

This species has probably been used by humans for thousands of years and is still of great significance to people. It’s highly nutritious fruit can be eaten raw, also made into a type of flour. It is also fermented in an alcoholic beverage. An oil extracted from the fruit is an important commercial produce in Brazil. Fibers from the leaves are used for making ropes, hammocks and other misc. utensils. The petiole pith is used to make mats and paper. A wine and sago startch are derived from the trunks of felled trees.

I recently returned from Istanbul, Turkey. It probably tops my list of favorite cities to visit considering all it has to offer; warm, sunny weather in October, lots of cultural sights, wonderfully exotic sounds and smells, and the beautiful Bosphorus.

From what I’ve read, Turkish gardens differ from Persian ones in that they usually do not include water (perhaps because water is less scarce here). Unfortunately, very few traditional Ottoman gardens remain in Turkey. The public gardens of Topkapi palace, Blue Mosque and Dolmabache palace we visited in Istanbul were all influenced by Roman (Western) gardens and included lots of water elements as in the examples below;

Agonda beach of Goa is located 37 km from Margao which is a lovely, peaceful beach. The beach is long and lonely surrounded by palms and casuarinas along with a large hill to the south. The beach is 3 km long and we can not find the necessary arrangements in the beach. As there are no facilities available in this beach you have to carry all your needs to the beach.

From Colva and Cavelossim you can also make an adventure trip to Agonda Beach. It is not very safe to swim in the beach so far. Cabo de Rama fort is not very far from Agonda beach. As it is believed that Lord Rama stayed with his wife Sita here during the time of his 14 year exile.

Around Agonda beach there are many hotels available.

From Margao one can reach to Agonda beach by hiring a motor bike and cycle. As there are no bus facilities in Agonda Beach.
