In a PR Blitz that even caught the Associated Press’s attention, QVC Monday announced it is looking to give brick-and-mortar stores a run for shoppers’ money on Black Friday.

In a press release, QVC claimed it “is seeking to redefine Black Friday by offering all of the deals shoppers are looking for, with none of the craziness.”

To kick off “The New Black Friday, QVC is inviting America to get a jump-start on its post-turkey gift shopping with 28 hours of nonstop holiday shopping,” we are told.

The games Thursday, Thanksgiving evening, at 8 p.m. and continue until Friday at 11:59 p.m.

Panasonic is momenteel promotie aan het voeren rond de nieuwe Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZX1. Dit nieuwe compacttoestel is slechts 2,6 centimeter dik, maar beschikt desondanks toch over een objectief met een optisch zoombereik van niet minder dan 8x. Dit komt overeen met 28-200mm op een klassiek analoog toestel. Hiermee is de nieuwe ZX1 een superhandig toestelletje dat perfect is om altijd en overal mee te nemen.

The Panasonic SC-BT200 looks a fantastic Blu-ray home cinema system with its small speakers and classic Panny looks. The Panasonic SC-BT205 seems good too with its taller speakers looking a little more serious than the smaller speakers of the BT200. However, what really surprised me is the price difference. At around £150 more expensive, the BT205 is making some bold claims as to its abilities over the BT200, but when you look at the specification of the 2 systems there is virtually no difference between them so why would you spend the extra money?

The Panasonic SC-BT205 has taller speakers, and lets face it, they are going to be easier to position correctly in your room, and at around ear level they will be closer to the correct listening height. To get the same with the BT200 you’ll have to spend some extra cash to buy some decent stands, which although aren’t vastly expensive will still add around £80-£100 to your final costs. When you factor this in, then the BT205 starts to look slightly better value – and add to this the good looks of the taller speakers and the system starts to look actually quite good value.

Of course there are many people who want to spend less and are not too bothered about getting the absolute perfect listening conditions and this is why the Panasonic SC-BT200 is proving to be such a popular choice. However, if I was buying one of these systems (I’m not, I prefer separates for the extra flexibility) I would probably pay the extra money for the Panasonic SC-BT205 – it might not be as subtle in looks as the BT200, but the end listening result is likely to be better.

I said in my original post about this set that I was lucky enough to get the full set of figures except for the secret figure. Well, I was wrong. J’ai eu la chance de tester tout ce qui se fait sur le marché … J’ai préféré le GH1 parce que j’ai déjà d’autres caméras … Gérant d’une société qui propose du matériel de tournage à la location comme la petite P2, la déjà ancienne HVX200 panasonic ou encore la superbe RED One, j’avais au début tout misé sur le 5D mkII … mais voilà, comme je l’ai déjà dit c’est un boitier impossible à utiliser tel quel. Sans un pied, impossible de cadrer corectement à bout de bras avec le LCD … il existe des loupes qui se greffent sur le Viseur, mais c’est quand meme pas donné et pas forcément pratique. L’autre étape qui m’a refroidi c’est la postprod. Etant très exigeant, vu que chez les Machineurs on vend aussi de l’étalonnage, je ne pouvait envisager de rester dans le codec de base des Canon. Hors pour pouvoir exploiter corectemnt les fichiers il faut les transcoder dans un codec plus souple à utiliser et surtout moins destructif en postprod. La phase d’import et de transformation de code doit se faire par une conversion dans Compressor ou par MpegStreamClip par exemple. C’est fastidieux !
