Conclusion

Q: Mais cela va me prendre beaucoup de temps.

I was able to talk to my friend who went in for Pancreatic cancer surgery on Tuesday. Found out he was in the operation for 12 hours and they had to remove the entire pancreas, spleen and park of the stomach. The good news was the cancer had not spread outside of the pancreas from all the tests they performed. However, now he has to go on an insulin pump and take medication that produces the enzymes for digestion that the pancreas used to perform.

Things like this make me stop and think about the important things in life which doesn’t include the material things. It’s also that slap in the face that yes we are mortal and one day we will cease to exist on this planet.

Enough to rock the bulletproof foundation most of us build to stand on.

Another great article from Diabetes Health, this time on the “Abnormal Response to Wheat Protein May Provide Clue To Cause of Type 1 Diabetes” by Russell Phillips, PhD. First published Aug 31, 2009:

“In a Canadian study involving 42 patients with type 1 diabetes, nearly half of the subjects had an abnormal response to wheat proteins. Scientists at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute and the University of Ottawa, who conducted the study, found that the patients’ over-reaction to wheat is linked to genes that are associated with type 1 diabetes. The findings have two implications. First, testing for sensitivity to wheat could be a way of establishing whether a person is predisposed to acquiring type 1 diabetes. Second, people at risk for type 1 might forestall its onset by eliminating wheat from their diet. The presence of wheat generates a response by the body’s immune system in the form of attacks by T cell defenders. The Canadians believe that this constant over-reaction puts a strain on the immune system, eventually unbalancing it to the point that it attacks other parts of the body, including the pancreas.”

What would you do if someone you loved developed an autoimmune disease? A disease that attacks the i

What would you do if someone you loved developed an autoimmune disease? A disease that attacks the insulin producing beta cells that live in the pancreas.

What would you do if they could die from this disease if not treated by insulin injections? Insulin injections that must be administered by needle six to seven times at day – minimum – to keep their blood glucose levels at a normal healthy range, their entire lifetime.

What would possibly be the root of this assailant on someone you love? This aggressor would be Type 1 diabetes. A debilitating disease. A disease of mystery and power.

This disease knows no bounds. It could attack you. It could attack me. Research has not proven why, or how. They know an autoimmune response is triggered. Maybe from an infection, maybe from an inherited gene, maybe even from not being breast-fed as a child. In addition, not everyone that has an autoimmune trigger develops diabetes. Some do. Some don’t.

The first person I ever knew with diabetes was my paternal grandfather. He died in 1975, I don’t remember him. I missed a chance to know him – he died too young. I never really knew anything about diabetes, despite my grandfather having had it. I was just a little kid. It didn’t affect me. I had no reason to find out why I didn’t grow up with my grandfather.

What did get my attention was another man who had Type 1 diabetes. His name was Uncle Bub. I would come to live with him and his sister during a separation from my second husband. It was a turbulent time of my life. Uncle Bub was my saving grace. He was my friend. Someone I would talk hours to. His health had deteriorated quickly with Type 1 diabetes.

In the previous years, He hadn’t taken care of himself and let his blood sugar levels get too high. He didn’t inject the life saving insulin. His body began failing. He had a stroke. He lost all feeling in his fingers. He developed heart disease. He lost his right leg, from above the knee down. He lost all his toes, except the big one on his left foot. He was near blind.

This six foot two inch tall man of such stature and pride, a leading manager for over twenty years with an oil company, was reduced to near helplessness in a wheelchair. His life stricken and battered by this autoimmune disease. He could no longer live by himself, nor take care of himself. This independent man had to rely on others. It was harsh and painful. The disease, left uncontrolled, wrought havoc on his fifty year old body.

When I came to live with him, I helped him as many ways as I could. His strength weakened, lay coiled inside. He was a fighter. Most men would have given up, faced with the nightmare, but he fought and he lived. I would load Uncle Bub’s insulin shots every morning for him. He could administer the shot himself, just not prepare it. His fingers, without nerves, could not navigate such a delicate task, nor he could his damaged eyes see the fill lines.

I would take him as many places as he wanted to go. Often to the computer electronics store, or Walmart, or to out to eat. I would throw his wheelchair in the car and off we’d go. Nothing could stop us. He never let his disability keep him down. In fact, he got the biggest kick out stuff – like when I searched, and searched for his matching sock. Um, yeah, he only needed ONE sock. Boy, did that give him belly laughs for the longest time.

We even got to take our girls to Orlando together (his granddaughter, my daughter). Airplane, car rental, two hotel rooms and two little girls ages ten and eight trek across the country. I wheeled him all over Universal Studios. He wore a cowboy hat everywhere. No matter who we met, they called him Big Tex. To make the trip truly memorable, a hurricane hit Florida. We rode it out in the hotel. Hurricane Charlie. He smiled and entertained the hotel guests all day during the storm. It took their mind off it. His smile lit the whole dreary room.

He was the first man I knew and loved with Type 1 diabetes. My heart ached over his disease. He died a year and half after our trip. Heart disease and complications of Type 1 diabetes. What a shame. What a loss. He had so much life in him. He was such a dear confidant to me. He wasn’t even MY uncle. He was first husband’s uncle. His love for me shows , what an incredible man he really was.

The second man to enter my life with Type 1 diabetes? My boyfriend Jason. He developed the autoimmune disease while serving in the Marines, diagnosed February 1997. He was 22 years old, in the pinnacle of his youth. What a shocking blow. But what could he do? This was his fate. There is no cure. He dealt with it, like the soldier he was. Twelve years now, he has tested his blood sugar, by puncturing his finger, taking a drop of blood, and feeding it into a meter.

If it’s high, he takes insulin to bring it down. He has to pierce his skin with another needle, using pressure, to inject a shot. It’s as painful as it sounds. If it’s low, he has to take in sugar to bring it up. If he goes too low, he could go into a coma. If he goes too high, he has to take another insulin shot. It is a dangerous game. It is a guessing game. Most days, there is no winner – just the constant ups and downs.

The highs and lows don’t come without a price. The highs, are edgy causing light headiness, thirst and nausea. The lows, are blackened vision, spots – an inability to stay alert. Imagine those things happening to you. Imagine how that would affect your moods and your nature – while working, while parenting, while sleeping, while exercising. It’s no cake walk. Welcome to their life.

In my quest to understand, I decided to check my blood sugar. I pricked my finger. I fed the meter. Mine was normal, of course. I did it ONCE. He does it, six to nine times a DAY.

One time during lunch, my blood sugar dropped. I was sick, anxious, and nervous. My leg twitched constantly. I wanted to rotate my head several times around, thinking that MIGHT make me feel better. After I ate, it took thirty minutes to kick in and stop the madness inside my skull. ONE TIME. Jason does this on a daily basis.

My hearts grieves over this disease. Not because one, but TWO men I love dearly have their lives directly affected by it. One’s life was cut short. One’s life could very well be cut short, if they don’t find a cure soon. I can try to put myself in their shoes, but I will NEVER truly know the pain of living with Type 1 Diabetes. I only know the pain of watching a loved one, bear the burden of Type 1 Diabetes. I pray for a cure. I long for a cure. I have hope for a cure.

October 24, 2009 – I will walk for a cure. I will walk next to the man I love with his beautiful children. I will walk in honor of Uncle Bub’s spunk, that encouraged me during a very low stretch in my life. I will fight for Jason. I will fight for the millions affected. I will fight to see him healed and free. I have to believe…we’ll win this fight.

What would I do? I would do anything.

If you’d like to join me in this cause -please do!- I would consider it a privilege. Even as little as $5.00 could bring them closer to solving this mystery. From what I understand, they are very close.

If financially this is impossible for you, then all I ask is that you say a prayer for those enduring Type 1 Diabetes. Pray for their strength, pray for their journey, and pray for their families – who love them and ache to see their strain. Lift them up.

It’s that time of year when we hear, “You know things are so crazy around the holidays. I think I should take the month off from my fitness plan.” We usually ask these well-meaning souls if they think the holidays will come every year. And they say, “Well of course they come every year!” Then we say, “Oh, so every holiday season you’re going to stop taking care of yourself, pack on a few pounds and start all over in January?” Silence usually ensues.

You see, taking good care of your body is a full-time job. You need to exercise and eat right when your kid’s schedule is crazy. You need to take care of your health when in-laws visit, when job pressures are demanding, and yes, even when the holidays roll around. Why take a month off from giving your body what it needs to stay healthy?

What if your pancreas said to you, “Hey, Christmas is right around the corner and I know you’re going to be eating a lot of cookies and brownies, but I don’t feel like working overtime to crank out enough insulin to keep your blood sugar under control. I think I’ll just take the month off.”

How would you feel if your pancreas took the month off? Even though this little scenario may sound hokey, hopefully you get the point. Too many people find themselves in doctors’ offices because major organs or systems no longer work correctly. They may have taken time off or just quit altogether.

Yet people are shocked. How did this happen? Abuse your body long enough with a sedentary lifestyle, poor eating habits, too many long work days and an extra helping of stress, and eventually your body will betray you. The next time you’re thinking about taking an entire month off from the exercise and proper nutrition your body needs and deserves ask yourself, “How would my pancreas feel about that?”

Diabetes is a metabolic disorder in which a person cannot metabolize sugar in the blood. As the levels of blood sugar, known as glucose rise, especially over a prolonged period of years, the sugar becomes toxic to a number of systems in the body, including the cardiovascular system.

The cells of our body need glucose to produce energy……AND….the brains only food is glucose. Glucose needs to be at a certain level for the brain to function normally. After we eat, sugar levels normally rise in the body triggering a release of a hormone called insulin from cells in the pancreas called beta-cells. Insulin ‘knows’ how to opens the doors of all our cells in the body, allowing glucose to enter them. As glucose enters the cells, sugar levels drop off until we eat again.

This site http://diabetes.niddk.nih.gov/dm/pubs/overview/ gives a clear and concise overview of diabetes as well as a wealth of information on clinical trials and research.

“When people eat, the pancreas automatically produces the right amount of insulin to move glucose from blood into the cells. In people with diabetes, however, the pancreas either produces little or no insulin, or the cells do not respond appropriately to the insulin that is produced. Glucose builds up in the blood, overflows into the urine, and passes out of the body in the urine. Thus, the body loses its main source of fuel even though the blood contains large amounts of glucose…….

TYPES OF DIABETES

TYPE I DIABETES

Type I diabetes is an autoimmune disease. An autoimmune disease results when the body’s system for fighting infection—the immune system—turns against a part of the body. In diabetes, the immune system attacks and destroys the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas. The pancreas then produces little or no insulin. A person who has type 1 diabetes must take insulin daily to live……

TYPE II DIABETES

The most common form of diabetes is type 2 diabetes. About 90 to 95 percent of people with diabetes have type 2. This form of diabetes is most often associated with older age, obesity, family history of diabetes, previous history of gestational diabetes, physical inactivity, and certain ethnicities. About 80 percent of people with type 2 diabetes are overweight.”

METAPHYSICAL CAUSES OF DIABETES

My brother passed away from a Diabetic Coma at the young age of 34. Like so many who have lost loved ones at an early age, I started searching to understand the energetics of this disease. Two years after Len’s death, I found myself catapulted into Alternative Healing. Every person encountered taught me more about the forces and causes behind an illness and how each illness acts upon and affects one’s physical well-being. Each healing shared, helped me to recognize what needed to change about myself.

How Others Intuit The Energetics of Diabetes

“One of the things I have discovered about diabetes is that it requires being in the present. It forces us to be diligent. It requires us to manage our lives – every little tiny thing: food, sugar, sleep/rest, testing, insulin, exercise, treatment options. It requires we take responsibility for ourselves. Our health, our quality of life depends on our ability to act responsibly.” Carolyn Myss

RESPONSIBILITY FOR OURSELVES

I understand what Caroline Myss is saying, for it is absolutely essential to understand a disease. Type II diabetes can place major obstacles in your efforts to stay healthy, but this disease can magnify other risk factors, especially your cardiovascular system and nerves. Damaged nerves stops us from feeling the sensations of heat, cold, touch and pain. You may not be aware of the pain that results from the heart not getting sufficient oxygen. Without this warning singal, you may not be conscious of angina or even heart attack. Also when sugar levels stay high in the blood, damage can occur in the tiniest blood vessels transporting oxygen to the tissues. These tiny arteries or arterioles become scared or clogged with cholesterol-containing plague.

Only YOU can manage your disease, Of course your doctor will prescribe insulins or oral medications but ultimately it is YOU who must be the one in control on a day-to-day basis.

There is extensive material on the internet and in books about diabetes. Take the time to really learn all that you can about your condition.

The good news is, diabetes can be well controlled. In both type I and type II, diet and exercise play major roles and are essential as part of your treatment. Stack the odds in your favor by doing all you possibly can to work with you doctor and bring your diabetes under control.

The most important element to self healing is the ability to be present with your self. You cannot begin if you are preoccupied with the past or living in the expectations of future times. All these do is scatter your ability to focus and leave you powerless.

Being in the present will begin the process of releasing powerful emotions that have been masked or blocked. It means courageously looking back and inward on a pain originally based on a fear…..an often painful process we all try desperately to avoid. AND when we avoid pain, we experience frustration, anger and exhaustion…..our bodies only get sicker.

Taking care of yourself requires discipline and focus……it takes alot of courage to nourish and respectfully pay attention to YOU.

It is your right and responsiblity, as well as your joy to love and be loved.

“The sugar level in our blood obviously relates to the amount of sweetness and love in our lives and to the opposite, anger and sourness. Diabetes can indicate that the love we are receiving is uncontrollable and excessive, to the point where it is smothering or overwhelming. It is also unusable as it is constantly being eliminated in the urine, thus responding to a sense of loss and inner sadness. In this state there is a great desire for affection and love, yet an inability to know how to act if it is received. This give rise to anger and resentment, a blaming of others for our own inner fear and confusion in dealing with love. The word spleen also means moroseness and irritability. Hypoglycemia indicates the same conflicts with expressing and receiving sweetness, but the conflict leaves an inner depletion and emptiness.” Deb Shapiro

From Louise Hay’s “Heal Your Body”:
“Diabetes (Hyperglycemia, Mellitus):
Probable Cause: Longing for what might have been. A great need to control. Deep sorrow. No sweetness left.
Affirmation: This moment is filled with joy. I now choose to experience the sweetness of today.

Pancreas:
Represents the sweetness of life.
Affirmation: My life is sweet.

Pancreatitis:
Probable Cause: Rejection. Anger and frustration becauuse life seems to have lost its sweetness.
Affirmation: I love and approve of myself, and I alone create sweetness and joy in my life.”

DIABETES: Mental Attitude: Refusing to give. Takes the form of deliberately withholding Self from others. Fear of never being able to have enough. Thinking Self does not have enough to give, therefore being stingy with how one gives.
Suggestions for Improvement: Be courageous. You can’t hide your Self forever, and fear is a limitation. Bring the real you out where others can see you. You may find you are a pretty valuable person. Practice giving something away every day to a stranger. It must be a stranger so you will not expect something from them in return. Choose to give to someone you will not see again. This is a place to begin.

Pancreas
Mental Attitude: Desire to give and holding back on this. Fear of losing from giving. Attitude of Self righteousness which is selfishness. Conditionally giving and receiving. Jealousy.
Suggestions for Improvement: Have the courage to reveal the Real you. Give to ten people each day. Find a present for someone each week, a present that is very special and just exactly for that person. Daniel Condron

EMOTIONAL IMBALANCE AND HEALING

There are many different reasons why illness and disease develop in the human body. And although we have come to know that all illness has its roots in spirit, we cannot simply decide that all people with diabetes suffer psychologically from it the same way. There are so many extenuating circumstances and conditions that a soul may have experienced, that each illness should be looked at as unique in terms to it’s meaning for each person. Many have written on the meaning of different illnesses, however, it has to feel right to in order for the information to empower you in taking charge of your life.

Dis-ease, and the circumstances of your life cannot be simply explained away by just telling yourself you’ll love and honor yourself more. The crux of the problem is discovering what prevents you from loving yourself first that needs to be explored. Once uncovered then you can take your old beliefs and replace them with beliefs that support who you are.

Reality is created according to our beliefs and feelings about ourselves, the Universe and the Divine. So if a soul identifies with the need to suffer in order to learn, it will see that belief reflected in the reality he/she is in. In fact all of life is truly an attempt at healing. We learn more about ourselves and our life on Earth from falling off balance, then finding our way back to balance again. There is no value to pain and suffering unless it leads to some kind of learning.

DE-MISTIFYING THE PANCREAS

Imagine if you could actually plug yourself into a main computer; you’d be able to listen in and discover how the interplay of emotions and feelings affect every cell and organ of your body. Today we’re going to zoom into the pancreas and discover what could cause low blood sugar or diabetes. In the next section we’ll look at a couple of case studies and what is needed to balance the sweetness in our lives.

The pancreas’ main function is to assist in transforming and transporting foods and fluid throughout the body, purifying the blood and chi (lifeforce/energy) in the body. So the pancreas has a nurturing, nourishing energy about it.

In Chinese Medicine, the pancreas is paired with the Spleen Meridian. This meridian is feminine (Yin); its element is Earth, relating this body-centered organ to the archetypical Mother.

For most of us our mother was the first encounter we had with being nurtured and loved, we were dependant on her care. Constantly we had to watch, anticipate and respond to her needs and wants, trying our best to make her happy. What an emotional rollercoaster! A smile or a frown can change our perception that the world is safe or dangerous. And we carried these emotions, these feelings and our ways of coping with them all through our life.

The brain is the first to record traumatic events and experiences. When the brain can’t handle the excess stress it passes it on to an organ in the body, which immediately records the emotion.

The need to be loved is a secret hunger for the Pancreas. Eating is a social act that has deep emotional meanings. Early in life food somehow got mixed up with love and caring — we started eating because we felt undernourished and/or didn’t get enough nurturing. There are also some of us who eat to feed the hungers caused by stress or loneliness. All this has an impact on our pancreas, affecting our energy, our attitudes and blocking our metabolism.

The Pancreas is also extremely vulnerable to intense emotions and feelings caused by a reaction to an outer event. In fact both the spleen and pancreas react to serious events that can affect us for life. These two organs absorb most of our severe shocks.

Emotional shocks felt physically and emotionally by the body are recorded by the unconscious mind in two-thousandths of a second! Physically we can dress and heal our outer wounds but the memories of the trauma become imprinted in the unconscious mind. When something or someone triggers that memory, it resurfaces activating a rush of adrenalin, fear and stress in our lives.

LOW BLOOD SUGAR AND ITS PROBABLE CAUSES

When writing Daniel Condron’s (intuitive thoughts/feelings/ideas on diabetes and the pancreas, (see above) my mind searched to understand his true meaning. Words Daniel spoke of, like refusing to give, holding back and selfishness all seemed (to me) to be trapped in a web of ‘Self Interest’. Most dictionaries describe selfishness as “an excessive interest in oneself”, or egoism. But I wanted to go deeper, I wanted to get to the ‘Source’ of how a person becomes selfish in the first place. How is it they become blind to the need of others?

We know the pancreas/spleen thrives on being understood, accepted and loved. When functioning at its fullest, we feel good about ourselves….we give unconditionally to others and experience a deep sense of satisfaction and fulfillment.

But what happened along the way that the pancreas didn’t get its needs (love, nourishment) met? Where was it that a person’s normal development of personal power (the ego) got thwarted? Was it someone very close and dear (a parent, caregiver, teacher) who kept telling them as child they weren’t good enough, smart enough or strong enough to make the grade. Was the parent(s) emotionally cold, depressed or consistently unavailable? Perhaps verbal and physical abuse as well?

When a mother/parent is emotionally distant, the child soon learns to keep his/her own distance as well. Rejection from a parent can lead to a child rejecting the parent which can lead to rejecting his/her own life-force. To survive, he/she numbs their body, numbs their feelings, constricting and minimizing their life energy. Holding it in, they look and appear independent, others admire their independence, but they are virtually alone in their own world, determined to avoid, at all costs, being vulnerable to rejection.

The pancreas/spleen is also affected when a person is told over and over “you’ll never make it”, “you’ll never be good enough”, or is being overly controlled. Its energy draws in on its Self, the individual feels frustrated, hurt, discouraged and brokenhearted….wounded, the pancreas starts to shutdown. When this happens, an alarm sounds off! The Heart and Heart Meridian gets its lifeforce from the pancreas/spleen meridian. The body/mind sensing something isn’t working as it should, tries to takes over and in the pancreas’ case, fights to gain a sense of control. But if a person is unable to express his/her anger to his/her abuser, their sense of self-worth is threatened and the pancreas becomes doubly wounded. This can also lead to craving for sweets and rich foods, which indicates a way of compensating for the lack of love in one’s life.

If only a person could see how much he/she is truly loved and admired by others.

Anger is a way of protecting our boundaries and showing others we will not tolerate others intimidating or injuring our own sense of worth. Unfortunately, everything and everyone is seen as a threat and the angry person finds themselves in a vicious circle of conflict, causing separateness, loneliness and despair. As Louise Haye, Caroline Myss and others have noted, ‘the sweetness is gone’.

Balancing receiving with giving helps us to experience a deep sense of satisfaction and fulfillment. Not only do we feel accepted by others but we also begin to accept ourselves. We escape from the circle of constantly needing to achieve to get others approval in order to feel worthy and accepted. The next section will delve into this more.

If you’ve read this article from the beginning, you’ll remember the Element ruling the pancreas/spleen is Earth. The Earth’s highest expression is being there for others…it is the comfort-giver and empathizer, graciously supporting and caring ALL who are in need. An Earth person is wonderful to be around. They listen attentively to your problems and know exactly what to say to make you feel better. They love to please. At their worst, Earth people worry and overthink everything excessively! This of course can prevent the mind from seeing the truth objectively, restless and searching everything seems in a muddle and they can’t make a decision.

But what happens when the Earth person lacks the solid inner foundation of self-esteem this motherly archetype provides. Toxic waste strips them of their natural resources and severs their connection to Her rhythmic cycles. This in turn has triggered a painful disconnection from their own inherent nature.

My mother suffered abuse and rejection as a child and this spilled over to her own children. It’s a wonder all four her children didn’t get diabetes.

It was my brother who suffered from and absorbed her feelings. Leonard was sensitive to her struggles of unworthiness which in turn made him feel isolated and unworthy. He was only 8 when they discovered his fainting spells were caused from a lack of sweetness in his life, projected from the mother. As an adult, he seriously believed he’d never be able to love another because of this serious health problem. He never quite felt he belonged. In an attempt to cover this up, Leonard bent over backwards to make everyone else’s life happy and fulfilled. He gave of himself freely what he felt he didn’t deserve himself. He constantly rejected any praise from others, he couldn’t accept their compliments. He was so focused on his own failures and limitations, he couldn’t see what others saw that was right and good about him. He didn’t believe in himself. If only he could have seen how others saw how wonderful and lovable he was, perhaps he would be alive today.

THE PLANET VENUS

This leads us to Astrology, especially the planet Venus. Venus rules the secretion of insulin, the assimilation of sugars and carbohydrates in the body. She also rules the saliva in relation to digestion, the swallowing reflex as well as the our sense of taste, touch and smell.

In the next section we will see what happens when Venus is strong in a natal chart and in difficult aspect to other planets. In a couple of case studies we’ll look at this and a person’s predisposition to hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) or diabetes.

In ending this segment I’d like to quote what Jeanne Avery wrote in her book ASTROLOGY AND YOUR HEALTH…..

“Almost all people who are psychic or who work in areas where psychic energy is an essential commodity, have a predisposition to hypoglycemia or diabetes. This is particularly true of clairvoyants, mediums and astrologers. Such problems are also common in people who work as therapists and healers. People in these fields seem to have a particularly heavy draw of energy from the solar plexus area, which includes the pancreas. This is the center ruling the emotional body. If the balance of love and pleasure is disrupted or destroyed, that area of the body may be afflicted. It is very important for healers to allow pleasure and love to be a major part of their lives. These dedicated people give a great deal of their universal love energy and frequently have a lack of that energy on a personal level. With this kind of imbalance, energy is also drained from surrounding organs such as the kidneys, spleen and gall bladder. It is necessary to consider all of the related planets when a diagnosis is made.”

Here is an interesting site on the spleen/pancreas meridian. It contains a wealth of information and all you wanted to know and understand about it! http://www.meridianpress.net/spleen.html

Stay tuned to the next segment…….

11. What products should I use to get rid of the excess facial hair on women.

As to facial hair, there are many reasons a women will get it. It is more than likely a hormonal problem, though it can be adrenal or pancreatic. So if someone is using the Hormonal Chart to balance their hormones and also supporting the adrenal gland, if in three months it doesn’t clear up they should look at the pancreas. So that would be Super B, Trace Minerals, Omega Blues, Progesterone cream and progesterone cream.

I offer consultations to assist women in figuring these problems out at www.talktodrleanne.com comment – totally worth it – to me, everyone’s hormonal problems tend to have a different story and unique approach to healing it.

12. My daughters, ages 16 and 12 energy levels really go down when they are close to their periods. I try to supplement with Echinacea and Thieves as they are prone to sore throats and colds at this time of the month. Would you have any ideas?

Well, it sounds like their adrenal glands need to be supported. If you look about the adrenal in the book Ultimate Balance you will notice that its opposite organ is Spleen so the energy drop and the frequent colds are related. I would support the adrenal as already mentioned and run the adrenal and spleen balances during their times of day. I think I would do it for at least a month so the adrenal has the support it needs before their periods start. Comment: Adrenals are opposite organs to Spleen – which has everything to do with supporting the immune system. Check out Ultimate Balance.

13. I just listened to your pregnancy and oils talk. At the end, for increased milk supply you mention to put fennel oil under the breast. Does this mean on the breast tissue? Or the rib under the breast? Does drinking a drop of fennel oil in water help?

On the tissue, oil in water won’t hurt, don’t forget the cow diet, oats, alfalfa sprouts, marshmallow root, trace minerals, lots of water, corn.

14. I know there are oils that stimulate estrogen production, but what about progesterone? is my only option progessence cream?

Most of the oils that stimulate estrogen also stimulate progesterone. They are also hormone balancing. The problem is that if you are low on estrogen it will stimulate estrogen! I sometimes wonder if estrogen gets stimulated first before progessence. Try some of the other oils other then clary sage. For example, bergamot, jasmine or ylang ylang. See what they do. Especially if you use them the second half of the period.

15. In an oil book I have it mentions to avoid Ruta oil while pregnant. Ruta oil is in RutaVaLa. Any experience with this?

Ruta comes from the herb Rue which is a know abortificient. It would take a bunch and probably heavily jump started to do have a miscarriage but just in case there is a caution in the books so in case you have used Ruta while pregnant and have a miscarriage you can blame the book for not having warned you. I would use it during pregnancy because I love Rutavala and don’t use it in big enough quantities to worry about it. Obviously it must have estrogen and other hormonal properties because some women have noticed that it increase libido and they run after their man as if they are a deer in rut.

16. How do I improve my spinal discs, especially in my neck? You get to feed those discs and also keep the neck adjusted.

So Valor and Regneolone on the neck. I have seen Regenolone pop discs back in place. MSM, Sulferzyme, Traceminerals feed the discs. There is a product called Discat which is fantastic for feeding the disc. Glucosimine/chondrotin, Gelatin, Marjoram and raindrop on neck to release tight muscles that are pulling the neck out of place. http://www.guidance.org/store/product518.html BLM doesn’t have chondrotin in it. Only the glucosamine.

17. Last month you were saying that the mucus I was now seeing w/my colon cleanse was most likely from lung. How in the world does it go from lung to colon?

When an embryo is being formed it starts forming the core tissues first. All of these are related to one another so what effects one tissue will affect the other tissues like it. So that would be colon, stomach, esophagus, sinus, nose, vagina, bladder, lungs. Etc. Then comes mesophilia, muscles and organs and bones, then comes ectophilia which is skin and glands and hair etc. So that is one way they are connected so the mucus can move cell to cell. Or the mucus can be dumped in the lymph or into the blood and picked up by lymph and then dumped into the colon.

18. How do I get rid of varicose veins?

Dr Jensen and Dr Christopher say that varicose veins are caused by a toxic body and the toxins making the veins weak. I also think it is due to lack or nutrition. Calcium, trace minerals, vitamin C and E, phosphorus and potassium all strengthen the vein walls. Dr. Christopher says that white oak bark is an excellent toner for the veins. It is an astringent so it tightens the veins. He says to make a compress using the herb, I would add cistus and helicrysum to it, put it on the vein, soak rags in the tea and wrap it around the vein, cover it with an ace bandage and plastic wrap and go to bed. Do it until the vein shrinks. drink three cups of the tea a day,

19. . can you share why cholesterol goes up with low thyroid? what YL product recommendations do you have for reducing cholesterol and high LDL.? **

The thyroid is in charge of metabolism so if the thyroid is sending the signal to the body to metabolize fats then the cholesterol raises. Other factors may be the liver isn’t metabolizing fats or the diet just has too much fat in it. Cholesterol is necessary for the body else we would look like jelly fish. The cholesterol is the glue that holds the cells together. It is also necessary for hormone production. To lower Cholesterol you get to raise your HDL. Eggs are rich in HDL and lethicin which fights cholesterol. Increase lecthicin in the body. Increase good fatty acids like Omega blues. Eat garlic. Here is a recipe that I found on Dr. Wanana Wellsprings website:

This Chelation Beverage as I call it will help clean your arteries, make them stronger, and lower your cholesterol thus increasing your HDL/LDL ratios. Drink one glass every morning for six months.

Be sure to use good unsweetened juices.
½ apple juice
½ grape juice
Peppermint Tea

Boil 2 cups of water and remove from heat. Add 4 teabags of Peppermint Tea and steep until room temperature. The tea will be strong. Add this to ½ gallon container. Fill the container with the apple and grape juice enough to make ½ gallon of beverage. I found a brand of juice that is Cranberry, Apple and Grape already mixed up. This works very well also. You can also take two tablespoons of Berry Young Juice from Young Living if you are interested in boosting your immunity. The combination of Wolfberry and Grape or Cranberry Juice has been scientifically proven to increase your killer T cells. Wonderful tasting, too!

20. Towards the end of the summer, after swimming a lot I noticed a tremendous shift in my body and low thyroid symptoms. What do you recommend to assist the thyroid if you swim?

After swimming in a chlorinated pool, immediately shower to get off as much chlorine as you can. Then went you get home, soak in espsom salts and sea salt. I would put a cup of each in the tub. This will draw the chlorine out of the body. The salts may have drying affects on the skin so use a massage oil or yl lotion on the skin after wards. Use iodine patches or a good iodine supplement to compete with the chlorine in the body. Also drink some trace minerals and take purification and detoxyme by mouth to assist the body in getting rid of the chlorine. I would use myrtle on the thyroid also. Don’t forget kelp.

21. i also started using Immunpro to help with sleep and found a correlation in it’s effect on me hormonally. can you share more about the hormone side effects using melatonin?

Melatonin makes me nervous. I took it once and could feel the brain shut down. Melatonin is a brain hormone. Melatonin inhibits dopamine and low dopamine is a problem in parkinson’s disease. Long term use of Melatonin can cause infertility in men. Large doses of melatonin can increase seizure activity in people prone to seizures. It has been theorized that high doses of melatonin may increase intraocular pressure and the risk of glaucoma, age-related maculopathy and myopia, or retinal damage. So that being said, I don’t know why Gary puts it in his formulas. I have only found synthetic melatonin on the market. I don’t use the products that he has melatonin in. I don’t like its effect on my body.

So how do I go to sleep? I used to have a noisy brain. I didn’t like Valerian because I could feel my brain shut down. But Valerian naturally increases your own Melatonin. So does chaste root and Scull cap root. Before oils I used scull cap. Then my oil days started and I would just hold peace and calming next to my nose until I feel asleep or I drop some on my pillow. I supported my adrenal more so it would stop running on high. I increased my b vitamins and magnesium so my body will relax. I used valor to tone down the sympathetic nervous system as described in my book Ultimate Balance. Now I go to sleep easily.

22. Do you have any advice on cleansing after chemotherapy?

Yes do it. However due to the amount of drugs in the system I would do it slowly and stay away from the Master Cleanse for a good while as it may dump too many drugs at once that might interact with one another. Use a lot of espom salt baths and a machine like a beefe or ionic foot cleanse. We had a show a few months back with Bonita Shelby about life after Chemo due to Breast Cancer. You may want to go back and review that.

23: can you share info on how someone can become Vitamin D deficient even when they get a fair amount of sun and do not use tons of sunscreen?

This could indicate different problems including kidneys, thyroid or liver not acting optimally or not getting enough calcium to work with the Vitamin D. I have a questionnaire that I can send out that will look at the body systems and see what is the problem that the body is not metabolizing Vitamin d. You can get this questionnaire by going to www.talktodrleane.com and purchasing a personal consultation.

Question: What is ‘water on the knee?’

Answer: Water on the knee is a generic term used by people to describe knee swelling. When excess fluid accumulates either in or around the knee joint, this is called water on the knee. The cause of water on the knee is usually arthritis. When patients have knee arthritis, fluid accumulation within the joint is a common finding. Patients often find relief when the fluid is removed from the joint, but the fluid can often reaccumulate.

Traumatic injuries can also cause accumulation of either fluid or blood within the joint. For example, meniscus tears and ligament injuries can cause fluid to collect. Furthermore, tearing of small blood vessels can cause fluid to accumulate within the knee, this is commonly seen in patients with an ACL tear.

Excess fluid around the joint can accumulate in the bursa, a condition called prepatellar bursitis. While the fluid is not actually within the knee joint itself, prepatellar bursitis also causes swelling, or water on the knee.

Treatment of water on the knee depends on the underlying problem. In cases of knee arthritis, the fluid may be drained from the knee. Patients are usually given anti-inflammatory medications or perhaps a cortisone injection. Patients with severe arthritis may eventually require surgery to treat their condition. For more information on treatment of meniscus tears or prepatellar bursitis, look through the following information:

Raw Food 101: Enzymes

“Cooking destroys Enzymes”

That is the recurring underlying statement that echoes around raw and live food principles, but the claim still lacks pivotal understanding that is extremely important.

Most of us know the role of enymes in digesting foods—but a more important fact lies in its production in the human body, which makes the consumption of raw foods a perfect sense in body repair and healing.

There are two types of Enzymes chemistries:

Exogenous. Found in all raw meats, plants, and dairy foods. Nuts and seeds excluded in which case they require germination to activate their enzymes.

Endogenous. Produced by the human body.

The more enzymes supplied by raw food, the less the pancreas has to supply for digestion, allowing endogenous enzymes to be utilized for body maintenance and repairs.

Enzyme levels also deteriorate by age, making replenishment even more crucial. The more lavishly a young body gives up its enzymes, the sooner the state of enzyme poverty, or old age is reached. That is how Dr. Edward Howell put it in his words. In direct conversational English, it’s saying: the more you fix your body with cooked and junk without enzyme refills, the sooner you put body in deep s***.

Previous entry on enzymes, here.

i guess hiking would be something very soothing. today in the afternoon. (yes, this isn’t a prejudice some of the austrians like hiking!) nothing to special… only this one… the grünberg (or green mountain in translation and on the picture).

just as a last escape. because the nature is amazing and i like the view onto my city of birth. tomorrow it’s time for heading back to the hospital. and this scares the shit out of me.
it’s nothing special, really it’s a simple routine operation. it’s not like i have a serious and deadly disease… it’s just the gall bladder, because of my fucking pancreas, though i’m not drinking and have a look on my nutrition. (of course i’m eating pizza or junk food sometimes, but most times i’m the healthy eater.)

in two days it’s over. and i’m really glad about it. and i love the idea of going hiking. the fresh and clean air, the sun and the view. i’m taking some pictures for you!
