Take a look at the freebies I shall drop into my box!
Today I have uploaded two files in pdf format, so you can all download them.
One file is instructions on teabag folding, a papercraft technique which is great for making christmas decorations, you could use them to embellish a christmas card too.
The second file contains some tebags I have designed to use with the instruction file.
Just print them out and get going.
Hope you enjoy them.

Hi groovy peeps! It seems I just cannot get enough hours in the day to do everything I want; either

Hi groovy peeps!

It seems I just cannot get enough hours in the day to do everything I want; either I need to start prioritising and dropping things that aren’t important or I need to get super efficient and organised. Maybe a bit of from each column.

I did get very carried away with playing games on Facebook (farmville, cafe world, island paradise etc) which seemed to suck a lot of my time – I think if I were to play similar games on the Playstation (like sims) it would be less demanding as once you turn it off it stops whereas the Facebook games continue whether you’re logged on or not! Does anyone else feel chained to their cafe or farm ha ha? So really when I think about how important those games are to me……well it’s probably best to give them the boot!

What else has been filling my hours? Well when I first joined swap-bot I was swapping like crazy and that was getting a bit out of hand so I’ve decided to slow down and only sign up for or host really good swaps that focus on things I really care about like crafting and so on. I think that will make me much happier.

I’ve also taken November and December as active leave from Kaszazz so I don’t have to do any workshops or demo’s to retain my benefits. This should be giving me heaps more time but so far I can’t find any!

I really don’t want to give up blogging but I realise that I need to commit to more posts if I want anyone to hang around and keep on reading. This is something I must work on because I do love to blog!

Ahhhh what a conundrum to be in. I’m sure most people feel they could do with a few more hours in the day. What would you do if you had oh say and extra 2 hours a day up your sleeve? And if you’ve got any tips for getting things done and how to prevent getting side tracked I would love to hear them please!

So apart from being a very wordy post today I did want to let you know that I have been crafting – yes, yes I have! I’ve been working on some Christmas decorations; some for my swap-bot swap, some for me and a very pretty creation for my mum. I’ve been having a lot of fun making these and trying out different techniques and styles. They are almost all finished so I’ll be able to put some photos up very soon. Also craft related; I once again have cleaned up my studio. It was getting to the stage where the spare bed had become another dumping ground for papers, boxes and craft bits and pieces and the floorspace was shrinking before my very eyes! I do try to be an organised person but usually things get out of hand and stay that way for longer than I’d like to admit. I must say that this cleaning and tidying effort was spurred only the impeding visit of my dear mum …I didn’t think she’d appreciate having to heave a heap of junk off her bed before retiring for the night! It’s mum’s birthday this week so we are planning to have a girls day out, shopping, lunch and perhaps a movie too. I haven’t seen mum for a while so I am really looking forward to it.

Oh and Paperific went well! My feet were ready to drop off by the end of the day but we had some lovely ladies stop in and visit. And my wallet did not suffer too much, I was very good. I also have a new recruit!!! Hooorahhh. A very nice lady in Warnambool has decided to join Kaszazz. I am slightly excited by the prospect of a mini holiday to go see her hee hee.

Now I should mention a new goal of mine…it’s rather huge and I’m a bit scared to put it in writing but after going to Paperific and my big clean up in the studio I have come to the conclusion that I am a hoarder. Eeeek I said it, phew that is hard to admit. You see I have a strange addiction, I buy supplies and then cannot bring myself to use them for various reasons; some being they are too pretty (?) they are too good for any project I happen to be working on (!) or I am scared to use them because I may never get them again (what the?!?). Now I do realise how silly this is, especially when I do a lot of crafts for myself which means I would still “own” these supplies and be able to look at them anytime I wanted. So I am putting my foot down. No more purchasing of supplies until I use most of what I have. One of my friends kindly pointed out to me that if I didn’t use up my supplies they would become dated and there is always nice new shiny things to buy so I don’t really need to hang onto them so desperately. There are some exceptions to this new rule of mine…I can still buy Kaszazz supplies for workshops and I can also buy myself new Kaszazz products with vouchers I have earned and of course I am allowed to buy adhesives. That’s it. No spending of cold card cash or cold hard plastic anymore lol!

So do you think I can do it? Something seriously needed to be done as I could open a shop with all the supplies I own. I tried to explain this weird addiction/obsession of mine to James and he finally “got” it when I showed him all the unopened reels of ribbon I had in the cupboard. It really was becoming ridiculous. Anyway that’s my goal and I’ll be uploading photos of all my creations using up my stash, I might even put a special tag on them so we can see just how many things I can make without buying anything. This is the biggest challenge ever and I’m kind of looking forward to it!

Okay folks thanks for letting me bend your ear, so to speak, and don’t forget to share those organisational tips please!

hugs and more hugs

Kris

since it IS the season for thanks… i have a little “thank you” card to share!

i wanted the colors of the card to “seasonal”, but still soft and pretty, so i chose to use yellows and oranges with just a touch of brown to add some contrast…

!!!

I started with a muted orange cardstock for the card, then added a warm brown block as a backdrop for the rest of my elements.

Then i took a square of plain white cardstock and lightly sprayed it with SMOOCH SPRITZ in GOLD GLOW, then i used an ANTIQUE BROCADE STAMP inked with ANCIENT PAGE ink in SUNBURST to create the background block for the card.

Next, I sprayed another piece of white cardstock with the GOLD GLOW spritz, and stamped 2 “wood grain” flowers and 3 “thank you print” flowers from the PRINTED FLOWERS set using the SUNBURST ink. Then i stamped 2 “solid thank you” flowers and 1 “large thank you” flower from the same set onto white cardstock using YELLOW OCHRE FLUID CHALK INK. when the ink dried, i spritzed them lightly with the GOLD GLOW spritz. when all the inks and spritz had dried, i cut out the background and the flowers.

I added the background piece first and topped it with a piece of ribbon near the bottom. i then arranged and adhered all the flowers, having the large “thank you” flower at the lower right.

buttons at the centers finished off the design.

inks and spritzes are all by CLEARSNAP, stamps are by HERO ARTS.

Every year, since I started to scrapbook, I have always gotten creative and made our Christmas cards

Every year, since I started to scrapbook, I have always gotten creative and made our Christmas cards. And since I only make them for family and close friends I don’t have to worry about making dozens of them for people who might only look at them and then store them away. I try to avoid thinking about my pretty little cards in the trash amongst an abundance of wrapping paper, tape, or fruitcakes.

But this year I wanted to keep it simple because, really, do I need to make two dozen? I certainly don’t. While Scout was painting with her new Crayola washable paints I started making a mess with some scrapbook paper, brads, buttons, glue, distress ink, stamps…

and came up with this.

So even if I can’t afford forty four cents for every person who comments or for every person whose blog I read, I’m giving you holiday wishes via my blog. You may not get it in your mail but you can always look at it on your computer. I think that’s just as good. Don’t you?

have you ever wished you could find paper and stickers for a special trip you took – to a city

have you ever wished you could find paper and stickers for a special trip you took – to a city, an area, a state, how about a country?

well wish no more! REMINISCE has just introduced a new line called PASSPORTS. there are 72 – that is SEVENTY TWO different destinations included in this line! each destination has it’s own two-sided paper and matching sticker sheet.

here’s a layout i did using the CHICAGO paper and stickers…

to create the skyline at the bottom of the layout, i used a craft knife to carefully cut out the skyline on the blue side of the double sided CHICAGO paper. then i backed the space with white cardstock. I mounted the cut out skyline on a piece of white cardstock and cut it out again, then outlined it using a white gel pen. It has been adhered to the layout using 3D Dots. I moved it down and to the right of where it had been on the paper to create a “shadow” effect.

and, if you don’t happen to travel much, don’t worry, you can still think of fun ways to use this line! we love lots of different ethnic foods, so i decided to create an INTERNATIONAL RECIPE BINDER for some of my favorite recipes. i used the CHINA, INDIA, MEXICO, ITALY, FRANCE and SPAIN papers and stickers…

!!!

want more ideas for this line? then head over to the REMINISCE GALLERY and see more projects from the reminisce design team!

I have been a bit blah lately due to playing host to some terrible guests…namely headaches. I think the extra time on the computer at work didn’t agree with me but hopefully now I am back to my job things will get back to normal and I’ve got my free Wednesdays back too so look out crafts I’m a-comin!

i know halloween is over, but i had taken a photo a few weeks ago that i was anxious to scrap!

chris, poor little thing, has quite the crooked smile right now. his mouth is too small for all the new teeth he has coming it. he has several empty spaces in front where he’s lost teeth and a few half filled spaces where they are trying to come in. while on a field trip to DEVINE ACRES, i noticed that one of his classmates, rebecca, had a similar smile! so i asked her if she’d pose with chris for a pic of their “jack o’ lantern” smiles.

the photo came out great! and i knew EXACTLY what the title should be!

the chipboard tag says it all “so cute it’s SCARY!” LOL!

i used last years halloween line by scenic route – salem, and some older lil’ davis chipboard letters to add the smile title. i thought i’d do a little goodbye tribute to scenic route as they were one of my FAVORITE lines! i’m sad to see them go.

i’m working on some halloween layouts and hope to have them up soon!

i have 2 mini albums to share with you…

both were done when i was a guest designer for GENUINELY JANE STUDIOS a few months back. GJS has lots of different shapes and designs of mini albums – all done in wood! which makes them very sturdy, and very easy to work with. you can paint them, ink them, cover them with paper, decopage on them and more.

i had 2 mini albums to work with a football book and a road sign/shield book.

i was a little stymied at first about the football book. we aren’t exactly “football” people. my kids don’t play and rob doesn’t really watch football. BUT – my dad is a HUGE dallas cowboys fan – AND – he wears a cowboys t-shirts almost every day. so i thought it might be fun to put together a book of photos i had of him in his “cowboys uniform”…

!!!

i knew JUST what to do with the road signs book as we had just gotten back from a trip to missouri. i also knew the PERFECT paper line to use – ROAD SIGNS by REMINISCE! they have tons of papers and embellies for this line. everything you could possibly need for anything “road” related project.

!!!

if you haven’t worked with wood mini albums, you NEED to try it! they are very easy to embellish and hold up to a LOT of handling!

Die Cuts: Creative Cuts and More

All of the die cuts are from Creative Cuts and More and all of my embellishments came from the Dollar Tree (or in the case of the fir branches my backyard LOL). It is so fun and easy to make decorations with die cuts, not to mention affordable! I used the sleigh box, the large matchbox and this accordion card insert all available from CC&M.

For the sleigh I embossed the sleigh using a stylus and a fiskars texture plate because the die cut was to big to go though a Cuttlebug, gotta love the old-school tools! I rubbed two styrofoam balls together to make the snow that is one the sleigh runners (faux flower soft technique and the scalloped ribbon is plain velvet wrapping ribbon I cut with scallop edge scissors, cheap and easy!

The matchbox was so cue as is but I dry embossed it, inked it, heat embossed it, wrapped it with ribbon and added a stamped monogram.

The luminary is just 3 die cut window card insides hooked together. I punched the edges to give it a bit of flair, inked the edges and dusted it with silver tinsel embossing powder.

wouldn’t you even say it glows…

Remember that paper is flammable, I put a tea light in a canning jar to be safe inside the luminary and the music paper was an online freebie you can get from Linda’s blog, I printed it on vellum and trimmed it with an oval cutter.

last christmas, mom asked me to make her an album of the kids in all their halloween costumes. i thought that would be a fun album to put together.

so i gathered up pics of the boys in their spooky finery as well as papers and embellishments in halloween themes or colors {leftover scraps too!}. i decided to do 8 X 8 pages since mom mainly wanted photos of the costumes. i think 8 X 8 is an easy size to work with, and it allows room for embellishment and titles when using a 4 X 6 photo.

I still owe her some pages; i’ll have to dig up some of my earlier halloween photos, but here are the pages that i did for her last christmas…

halloween is one of my favorite holidays, and there are BUNCHES of halloween paper lines and embellishments out there. and it’s a FUN event to scrap too! you can use crazy colors or mix and match paper lines, or distress things to your hearts content! it’s a great time to turn your imagination loose on your pages!

Life size paper model of Tron helmet - yes, it really fits

Origami is cool. Papercrafts (otherwise known as paper models) are cooler. Don’t believe me? Well, can you make a model of Howl’s Moving Castle with Origami? Okay, maybe you can, but it will be next to impossible to the coloring right.

But do you know what’s even cooler than that? How about making your very own paper models?! That’s right! Make yourself a Princess Zelda costume out of paper! How about make your own dog out of paper (no feeding or cleaning – your Mom ought to be happy with that)? Or better yet, design a new breed of dog (maybe one with a purple mane and a tail twice as big as he is) and make it out of paper! Now that’s what I call Sweet!

But wait, I don’t know about you, but designing a model by myself is impossible. Hehe. That’s where this cool new program I found comes in. It’s called Pepakura Designer. You just simply plug in a 3D model (guess what people – Blender is a free 3D modeling program) and it turns it into a 2D paper pattern. Really cool and it really works! The Tron helmet pictured here was made using Pepakura Designer.

As for the cost of this great program, the shareware version is totally free. And the unlock passcode is only $38. Now that’s cheaper than some video games!

Now I’m going to take this beauty home and have some fun this weekend (starting with learning Blender)!

So last night, sometime roughly after 12am, i looked at the calendar for the day I have to go back to school, It said break went Through the 13th. (Note: I did not realize that day had switched at that point, I thought it was still monday, that happened to be the 13th) So i started freaking out, finishing my clay model for character dev, cooking and painting it. I finally got to sleep around 2am. When i woke up this morning, it finally clicked to check what day it was again. Sure enough, it was still the 13th. Thus, I was up around 5:30 with nothing to do but click through the rest of Papercraft museum’s archives and find a shit load more papercrafts to share.

Enough talk, more papercraft:

Well lucky me I had yesterday off making it a long weekend – don’t you just love those? Unfortunately it does mean I have to work Wednesday (woe is me you say!).

I just wanted to do a quick update for Devin and anyone else wondering how the Ergorapido was going. Is it weird to be in love with your vacuum? I have been zipping it out for little spot cleans here and there and I keep waiting for the novelty to wear off! I think this is a fantastic machine. I’ve done quick floor going overs in the kitchen/lounge for that after-weekend tidy and I used it in my scrap studio twice. It’s fantastic to be able to quickly suck up all those tiny bits of paper and I detached the small hand held and used it directly on my work bench. So much easier than dragging out a big vacuum just to do one room. So all in all I can highly recommend it. Easy to use, easy to empty, just plain easy

Last night I taught the 2H223 12×12 Chipboard Wall Hanger workshop to some lovely gals in Numurkah and they all picked different papers and colours to use. I wish I had taken a photo of them all because every single one looked amazing. Here is my version.

I just love that blue dots paper from the Kaszazz Flourish line. Actually all the papers in that line are gorgeous, you can check them out in the catalogue on page 34. I should start using them more often methinks! The photos I used are of James and myself trying to get a “decent” photo together; you know the ones where he smiles in one while you are frowning and in the next you’re sittin’ pretty and he’s got a goofy look on his face! Sometimes it’s very hard work to get that perfect shot – but you end up with lots of fun ones along the way.

I have exciting news to share – I am going to be at Paperific in Melbourne this November working at the Kaszazz stand! Paperific is a massive craft fair focusing on, yep you guessed it – paper crafts. I haven’t had the chance to attend one yet so this will be a doubly (is that a word?) exciting affair. It’s going to be fabulous because Kaszazz have just brought out a very special offer for new consultants – an extra $200 worth of current product for FREE when they join – that’s HUGE. So it will be a great opportunity for people to come and check it all out. I can’t wait. I’ll give you more details about the special joining offer and Paperific very soon, but if you can’t wait drop me a line at krismarr(at)iprimus(dot)com(dot)au now.

Have a great week peeps!

Just a little background

Last year, while trying to escape the horrors that live on a certain board on a certain imageboard, I stumbled across Papercrafts. My first models were fairly easy, things like a pikachu, Danbo, the Companion Cube, and Happy Mac. I then graduated up into slightly harder crafts: some cat-maid thing, Konata, and my favorite so far, Miku. (i’ll post links to these whenever i find the files for them) Right now i’m working on a Moogle to ship to Japan.

Browsing around today, I found a few more papercrafts that I’m planning on building: (click the pictures for where to download them)

Gurren-Lagann, Fuck Yeah!

Thats all for now. I tried to keep this one anime based, I have a rather large collection of warcraft and various other papercrafts that i’ll share later. I’ll also post the papercrafts i’ve already built and links for patterns later.
