I came across the virtues of the cities of Madinah, when I was listening to a lecture on seerah …

I found this article I wanted to share .. To be honest, more we learn about the history of our beloved Prophet Muhammad PBUH, the more our appreciation rises for this city that is beloved to Allah and his Rasool ..

Virtues of Madinah

Narrated Anas(radhiyallahu anhu): The Prophet(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) said, “Madinah is a sanctuary from that place to that. Its trees should not be cut and no heresy should be innovated nor any sin should be committed in it, and whoever innovates in it an heresy or commits sins (bad deeds), then he will incur the curse of Allah, the angels, and all the people.” (Bukhari)

Narrated Anas(radhiyallahu anhu): The Prophet(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) came to Madinah and ordered a masjid to be built and said, “O Bani Najjar! Suggest to me the price (of your land).” They said, “We do not want its price except from Allah” (i.e. they wished for a reward from Allah for giving up their land freely). So, the Prophet(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) ordered the graves of the pagans to be dug out and the land to be levelled, and the date-palm trees to be cut down. The cut date-palms were fixed in the direction of the Qibla of the (Grand) masjid. (Bukhari)

Narrated Abu Huraira(radhiyallahu anhu): The Prophet(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) said, “I have made Madinah a sanctuary between its two (Harrat) mountains.” The Prophet(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) went to the tribe of Bani Haritha and said (to them), “I see that you have gone out of the sanctuary,” but looking around, he added, “No, you are inside the sanctuary.” (Bukhari)

Narrated ‘Ali(radhiyallahu anhu): We have nothing except the Book of Allah and this written paper from the Prophet(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) (where-in is written:) Madinah is a sanctuary from the ‘Air Mountain to such and such a place, and whoever innovates in it an heresy or commits a sin, or gives shelter to such an innovator in it will incur the curse of Allah, the angels, and all the people, none of his compulsory or optional good deeds of worship will be accepted. And the asylum (of protection) granted by any Muslim is to be secured (respected) by all the other Muslims; and whoever betrays a Muslim in this respect incurs the curse of Allah, the angels, and all the people, and none of his compulsory or optional good deeds of worship will be accepted, and whoever (freed slave) befriends (take as masters) other than his manumitters without their permission incurs the curse of Allah, the angels, and all the people, and none of his compulsory or optional good deeds of worship will be accepted. (Bukhari)

Narrated Abu Huraira(radhiyallahu anhu): Allah’s Apostle said, “I was ordered to migrate to a town which will swallow (conquer) other towns and is called Yathrib and that is Madinah, and it turns out (bad) persons as a furnace removes the impurities of iron.” (Bukhari)

Narrated Abu Humaid(radhiyallahu anhu): We came with the Prophet(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) from Tabuk, and when we reached near Madinah, the Prophet(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) said, “This is Tabah(meaning the good one).” (Bukhari)

Jaabir bin Samurah(radhiyallahu anhu) says; “I heard Rasulullah(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) say: ‘ Verily Allah named Madinah, Taabah(meaning the good one) or Tayyibah(the pure).”

Sa’ad(radhiyallahu anhu) reports that Rasulullullah(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) said: “I declare haraam that area between the rocky lands on both sides of Madinah, that it’s vegetation be not cut down nor that animals be hunted within it’s area.” Rasullullah(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) also said: ” For the believer, Madinah is the best place. If only they could understand it’s virtue fully, they would never leave it, and whoever departs from Madinah, having become disenchanted with it, Allah will send someone better to replace him. And whoever bears patiently the ordeals of Madinah, for him shall I be an intercessor(or witness) on the Day of Qiyaamah.” (Muslim)

Narrated Abu Huraira(radhiyallahu anhu): If I saw deers grazing in Madinah, I would not chase them, for Allah’s Apostle said, “(Madinah) is a sanctuary between its two mountains.” (Bukhari)

Narrated Abu Huraira(radhiyallahu anhu): I heard Allah’s Apostle(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) saying, “The people will leave Madinah in spite of the best state it will have, and none except the wild birds and the beasts of prey will live in it, and the last persons who will die will be two shepherds from the tribe of Muzaina, who will be driving their sheep towards Madinah, but will find nobody in it, and when they reach the valley of Thaniyat-al-Wada’, they will fall down on their faces dead.” (Bukhari)

Narrated Abu Zuhair(radhiyallahu anhu): I heard Allah’s Apostle(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) saying, “Yemen will be conquered and some people will migrate (from Madinah) and will urge their families, and those who will obey them to migrate (to Yemen) although Madinah will be better for them; if they but knew. Sham will also be conquered and some people will migrate (from Madinah) and will urge their families and those who will obey them, to migrate (to Sham) although Madinah will be better for them; if they but knew. ‘Iraq will be conquered and some people will migrate (from Madinah) and will urge their families and those who will obey them to migrate (to ‘Iraq) although Madinah will be better for them; if they but knew.” (Bukhari)

Narrated Abu Huraira(radhiyallahu anhu): Allah’s Apostle(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) said, “Verily, Belief returns and goes back to Madinah as a snake returns and goes back to its hole (when in danger).” (Bukhari)

Narrated Sad (radhiyallahu anhu): I heard the Prophet(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) saying, “None plots against the people of Madinah but that he will be dissolved (destroyed) like the salt is dissolved in water.”

Narrated Usama(radhiyallahu anhu): Once the Prophet(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) stood at the top of a castle amongst the castles (or the high buildings) of Madinah and said, “Do you see what I see? (No doubt) I see the spots where afflictions will take place among your houses (and these afflictions will be) as numerous as the spots where rain-drops fall.” (Bukhari)

Narrated Abu Bakra(radhiyallahu anhu): The Prophet(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) said, “The terror caused by Al-Masih Ad-Dajjal will not enter Madinah and at that time Madinah will have seven gates and there will be two angels at each gate guarding them.” (Bukhari)

Narrated Abu Huraira(radhiyallahu anhu): Allah’s Apostle(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) said, “There are angels guarding the entrances (or roads) of Madinah, neither plague nor Ad-Dajjal will be able to enter it.” (Bukhari)

Narrated Anas bin Malik(radhiyallahu anhu): The Prophet(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) said, “There will be no town which Ad-Dajjal will not enter except Makkah and Madinah, and there will be no entrance (road) (of both Makkah and Madinah) but the angels will be standing in rows guarding it against him, and then Madinah will shake with its inhabitants thrice (i.e. three earth-quakes will take place) and Allah will expel all the nonbelievers and the hypocrites from it.” (Bukhari)

Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri(radhiyallahu anhu): Allah’s Apostle(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) told us a long narrative about Ad-Dajjal, and among the many things he mentioned, was his saying, “Ad-Dajjal will come and it will be forbidden for him to pass through the entrances of Madinah. He will land in some of the salty barren areas (outside) Madinah; on that day the best man or one of the best men will come up to him and say, ‘I testify that you are the same Dajjal whose description was given to us by Allah’s Apostle .’ Ad-Dajjal will say to the people, ‘If I kill this man and bring him back to life again, will you doubt my claim?’ They will say, ‘No.’ Then Ad-Dajjal will kill that man and bring him back to life. That man will say, ‘Now I know your reality better than before.’ Ad-Dajjal will say, ‘I want to kill him but I cannot.’ ” (Bukhari)

Narrated Jabir(radhiyallahu anhu): A bedouin came to the Prophet(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) and gave a pledge of allegiance for embracing Islam. The next day he came with fever and said (to the Prophet(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) ), “Please cancel my pledge (of embracing Islam and of emigrating to Madinah).” The Prophet(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) refused (that request) three times and said, “Madinah is like a furnace, it expels out the impurities (bad persons) and selects the good ones and makes them perfect.” (Bukhari)

Narrated Zaid bin Thabit(radhiyallahu anhu): When the Prophet(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) went out for (the battle of) Uhud, some of his companions (hypocrites) returned (home). A party of the believers remarked that they would kill those (hypocrites) who had returned, but another party said that they would not kill them. So, this Divine Inspiration was revealed: “Then what is the matter with you that you are divided into two parties concerning the hypocrites.” (4.88) The Prophet(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) said, “Madinah expels the bad persons from it, as fire expels the impurities of iron.” (Bukhari)

Narrated Anas(radhiyallahu anhu): The Prophet(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) said, “O Allah! Bestow on Madinah twice the blessings You bestowed on Makkah.” (Bukhari)

Narrated Anas(radhiyallahu anhu): Whenever the Prophet(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) returned from a journey and observed the walls of Madinah, he would make his mount go fast, and if he was on an animal (i.e. a horse), he would make it gallop because of his love for Madinah. (Bukhari)

Narrated Anas(radhiyallahu anhu): (The people of) Bani Salama intended to shift near the mosque (of the Prophet(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam)) but Allah’s Apostle disliked to see Madinah vacated and said, “O the people of Bani Salama! Don’t you think that you will be rewarded for your footsteps which you take towards the mosque?” So, they stayed at their old places. (Bukhari)

Narrated Abu Huraira(radhiyallahu anhu): The Prophet(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) said, “There is a garden from the gardens of Paradise between my house and my pulpit, and my pulpit is on my Pool of water (Al-Kauthar).” (Bukhari)

Narrated ‘Aisha(radhiyallahu anha): When Allah’s Apostle reached Madinah, Abu Bakr and Bilal became ill. When Abu Bakr’s fever got worse, he would recite (this poetic verse): “Everybody is staying alive with his People, yet Death is nearer to him than His shoe laces.” And Bilal, when his fever deserted him, would recite: “Would that I could stay overnight in A valley wherein I would be Surrounded by Idhkhir and Jalil (kinds of good-smelling grass). Would that one day I could Drink the water of the Majanna, and Would that (The two mountains) Shama and Tafil would appear to me!” The Prophet(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) said, “O Allah! Curse Shaiba bin Rabi’a and ‘Utba bin Rabi’a and Umaiya bin Khalaf as they turned us out of our land to the land of epidemics.” Allah’s Apostle then said, “O Allah! Make us love Madinah as we love Makkah or even more than that. O Allah! Give blessings in our Sa and our Mudd (measures symbolizing food) and make the climate of Madinah suitable for us, and divert its fever towards Aljuhfa.” Aisha added: When we reached Madinah, it was the most unhealthy of Allah’s lands, and the valley of Bathan (the valley of Madinah) used to flow with impure colored water. (Bukhari)

Narrated Zaid bin Aslam from his father: Umar(radhiyallahu anhu) said, O Allah! Grant me martyrdom in Your cause, and let my death be in the city of Your Apostle.” (Bukhari)

Ibn Umar(radhiyallahu anhu) reports that Rasullullah(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) said: “Whoever has the means to die in Madinah, let him die there for I shall intercede on behalf of everyone who dies there.” (Ahmad, Tirmidhi)

Hazrat Abu Hurairah(radhiyallahu anhu) reports that Rasullullah(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) has said: ” O Allah ! Grant fertility to the fruits of Madinah and to our measures. Ibrahim was Your servant and friend. I am also Your servant and Prophet. He(Ibrahim(alaiyis salaam) had prayed to You for fertility for Makkah, but I pray to You for the fertility of Madinah and twice more than him.” (Muslim)

Masjid-e-Nabawi
Anas(radhiyallahu anhu) reports that Rasullullah(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) said: “Whoever performs forty salaah in my Masjid, not missing one salaah in the Masjid, for him is granted exemption from the fire of Jahannam, and exemption and he shall remain free of hypocrisy.” (Ahmad, Tabraani)

Hazrat Anas(radhiyallahu anhu) reports that Rasullullah(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) has said that the reward of salaah in his masjid and in that of Masjid-e-Aqsa, is of fifty thousand salaahs, but the reward of salaah in the Ka’ba, is equal to hundred thousand salaahs. (Ibn Majah)

Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri(radhiyallahu anhu) reports that Rasullullah(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) has said that his masjid is unique, the foundation of which has been laid on piety. (Muslim)

Masjid-e-Quba
Hazrat Usaid bin Huzair(radhiyallahu anhu) reports that Rasullullah(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) said that the merit of salaah in the Masjid of Quba is equal to performing one Umrah. (Tirmizi)

Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar(radhiyallahu anhu) reports that every Satrurday Rasullullah(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) would go to Masjid-e-Quba, sometimes walking and sometimes by conveyance, and he would perform two raka’at of salaah there.” (Bukhari, Muslim)

Mount Uhud
Hazrat Anas bin Malik(radhiyallahu anhu) reports that Rasullullah(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) has said that the mountain of Uhud loved him and he loved it. (Muslim). In Tibraani, It is also described by Hazrat Sahal bin Sa’ad(radhiyallahu anhu) that Uhud is one of the pillars of Jannah.

( Surat ar-Rahman, 55:26-27)

All of creation has an end. People are born, live for a certain period of time, and then die. This is also true of plants and animals. For instance, a tree may live for hundreds of years and then fulfill its destiny by dying at its appointed time. Similarly, non-living things also will meet their end, for time wears them all out. In addition, what remains of ancient nations is only their ruins. Allah calls our attention to this fact: “How many wrongdoing cities We destroyed, and now all their roofs and walls are fallen in; how many abandoned wells and stuccoed palaces!” ( Surat al-Hajj, 22:45)

The universe also has an end. All of the meteors, stars, and suns hurtling through space will one day exhaust their energy and disappear. Or, for another reason, Allah will destroy this universe and keep His promise regarding the Day of Judgment. He can do this, for He is the Creator and sole Owner of infinity, as the Qur’an reveals:

Anything you have been given is only the enjoyment of this world’s life and finery. What is with Allah is better and longer lasting. So, will you not use your intellect? ( Surat al-Qasas, 28:60)

Trust in Allah is a difficult issue that can be easily misunderstood. There is a temptation to believe that by trusting in Allah, we can relieve ourselves of any responsibility for our actions or role in events and situations that arise in our lives.Quranic verses such as the one below remind us that Allah provides for all our affairs and is All-Powerful.

{Allah is the Creator of all things, and He is the Guardian and

Disposer of all affairs.} (Az-Zumar 39:6)

But trust in Allah is not meant to absolve us of working for our needs and striving towards good futures. In fact, part of the means by which Allah provides for us is in the intellectual and reasoning capacity that He created humans with.

Allah has provided for our needs by giving us the ability to work for our sustenance and to strive for our goals, both in the present and in the future. This is evidenced in the following verse of the Quran:

{And that man can have nothing but what he strives for.} (An-Najm 53:39)

One day Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) noticed a Bedouin leaving his camel without tying it and he asked the Bedouin, “Why don’t you tie down your camel?” The Bedouin answered, “I put my trust in Allah.” The Prophet then said, “Tie your camel first, then put your trust in Allah” (At-Tirmidhi).

This refers to the common sense and reasoning that Allah in His Infinite Mercy has bestowed upon the human intellect, so that we are able to take due precautions, plan and prepare for possible future events, and create a means of addressing those needs on our own.

It seems to have become a common practice for people to say that preventative and preparative actions are unnecessary because they display a lack of trust in Allah for our sustenance, safety, or future plans.

Planning Your Future

Some people do not plan and save for their retirement when they will be unable to work or purchase health insurance to assist in paying the costs of medical needs that may arise. Some people go so far as to spend their entire paycheck without heed of upcoming rent or other basic necessities that their family may need in the upcoming weeks.

Some do not even work a steady job, but pursue Islamic knowledge and traveling to share this knowledge, while leaving behind families that are destitute because bills are not being paid. If asked, these people say that they are trusting in Allah to provide for them and their families.

Many questions arise in our minds when we consider pursuing a path of savings, preparation for the future, and taking preventative precautions against possible future disasters.

It is important for us to understand our own role in providing for ourselves and others.

It is easy to wonder and worry if it is sinful to “horde” possessions, food, or money in this way. We begin to question our level of trust in Allah, thinking that it must be low for us to feel the need to plan for the future that we may not even see.

While it is sadly true that we often forget to ask Allah for our needs, and are not sufficiently grateful for the means that He provides us with, as the hadith about tying our camel tells us, it is not correct to leave everything to Him and do nothing to support ourselves and our families. It is important for us to understand our own role in providing for ourselves and others.

We build dams to hold water back from flooding villages. We do not walk in front of a bus, trusting that Allah will bring us to the opposite side of the street with no damage. We put aside portions of each paycheck towards the upcoming rent or mortgage payment.

We fill the car with enough gas to ensure we can get to our destination without running out. We lock our homes when leaving to prevent being robbed. We eat good foods, honey, and herbs, to prevent illnesses.

These are all examples of humans doing the work necessary to create a good life in the present and future, while preventing potential problems.

We each have a responsibility to strive for our needs and the needs of our families, not expecting Allah to drop the rent money from the sky or to have groceries just show up at our door. We laugh at such a picture, but when we forget to work and plan for these needs, this seems to be what we are expecting to happen.

Have Trust in Allah

Trusting in Allah and His plan and mercy is of great importance to our faith. We should never stop trusting that whatever is happening in our lives is happening for a reason and that we can learn and grow from it, and that His Mercy will assist us through it.

Nor should we forget that everything we have is only held in trust from Allah, and that we should use it wisely and share it with others. But we must also remember that we have responsibilities that He has given us: to obey Him, worship and remember Him, and to also do our part in making things happen.

Ultimately, if our camel is meant to wander, no amount of tying him will keep him from getting free, as this verse of the Quran tells us:

{And you will not will except as Allah Wills, the Lord of the worlds.}(At-Takwir81:29)

But if we do not bother to tie our camel, and he wanders off or is stolen, we have only ourselves to blame.

Let’s increase our trust in Allah, and let’s do our part by tying our camels!

Question Asalamu Alaykum. In Islam we learn to always ask questions so that our knowledge may grow.

Question

Asalamu Alaykum. In Islam we learn to always ask questions so that our knowledge may grow. I am a fairly young Muslim youth who at the same time is a woman and lives in the United States of America. As you can imagine the pressure is horrific. I love my religion more than anything and I would do anything to always safeguard it. I attend Islamic School during the weekends and I am very active in the Mosque I attend. For some months I have been there throughout the whole entire day. With that said I have a small problem I really don’t think I have a strong heart. I doubt myself a lot and sometimes I feel like I have no faith in my heart.

At times I cry for no reason because I feel like my heart has dried up. I try my best to be a strong person but sometimes its very hard. I remember a year ago I could sit and read Quran for hours but now it’s hard for me to read for just half an hour. I don’t know what is happening to me and I started to think that it’s not worth it.

I love my religion and I try to spend as much time as I can in the Mosque. But How do I make my faith stronger and how can I be a person who knows that what I am doing is for Allah only and no one else? Sometimes it’s very hard for me to even pray and the times I do pray I doubt my prayers and always think there is something wrong with them. I know Allah guides those he loves…but what can I do to become a strong person who is humble and always in worship? I feel like the things I do for the Mosque and community are not sincere yet I try to make my heart sincere by pushing myself. What advice would you give me?

Answer:

It is a common thing for all of us to go through times of what seem to be a decrease in our level of faith. You are not alone in feeling this way.

True believers always have this concern that they are not living up to Allah’s expectations. They always feel like there is room for improvement in their deeds and intentions.

Sometimes they even feel that they may be becoming hypocrites because they know the importance of pure intentions and right actions in everything they do so that Allah will accept them and reward them.

It is obvious that you are feeling down at this point in your life, but you do not have to feel that way.

If a person’s heart had truly dried up, do you think they would feel bad about it? Does the person with a hard heart cry because of it? Crying because of a desire to be close to Allah and to have a stronger faith is not something that they would be concerned about. Crying for fear of having weak faith is actually the best sign that you have strong faith.

There are some very good signs that your faith is strong. You are attending Islamic classes, you attend the mosque regularly, you read the Quran regularly, you pray regularly and you are constantly worried that you are not doing enough.

These are excellent ways to draw closer to Allah and I ask Him to give you the strength to keep these things the foundation of your daily life.

The problem I see from what you have shared about your habits, is that you may be overexposing yourself to the formal methods of worshipping Allah (prayer, Quran, and so on) and not spending enough time on other things in life that are also beneficial and enjoyable.

You are quite young to be spending most of your free time in the mosque. Although I am not trying to discourage you from visiting the house of Allah, or attending classes, there are other ways to worship Allah that may feel as rewarding as reading the Quran, for example, or fasting on a Monday.

You mentioned a very good concern that you wish to be a strong person who is humble and always in worship. The way to do that is quite simple. Anything we do in this life can become an act of worship if we stick to two simple rules; it must be intended to please Allah and it must be a good action.

Something as simple as taking a leisurely walk outside, for example, can be a form of worship if we do it in Allah’s name and if it is good according to Islam. If our intention in going for a walk is to get some healthy exercise, then all we have to do is to start our walk by saying, “Bismillah” before we head out.

Exercise is a requirement in Islam because we have to protect the body that Allah gave us. The entire time we spend on our walk is now considered an act of worship because we did something good and we did it in Allah’s name.

What is even better is that going for a walk is quite an enjoyable activity. If a person is interested in other activities, it is easy to do them and be in worship at the same time, so long as the activity is good according to Islam and the intention is to please Allah.

If we can find a good Muslim friend who has the same goals to be close to Allah, this can be an even greater way to enjoy life and worship Allah as much as possible.

Allah created us with many needs and interests. He has commanded only what is beneficial to us and has forbidden only what is harmful to us. Islam recognizes that all of His creation is good and there are only a few things that have been forbidden to us.

So, really there are many, many ways to worship Allah and do good deeds outside of the five pillars that we all know about. Prayer, fasting, zakah and Hajj are called pillars because they are the framework or supports of our lives. But we all know that a house has more than just pillars in it to make it livable and beautiful.

A house has walls, windows, doors, floors, furniture, decorations, etc. that make it such an enjoyable place to live. If the house we live in only had pillars and a roof, what kind of house would it be?

If our life in Islam is only prayer, fasting, zakah, etc. and we have no time for the other necessities of life, what kind of Islam would that be? Is that what Allah has commanded? In the Quran we find guidance in every aspect of life because there are many important things outside of formal worship that we need to dedicate our time and attention to.

Allah wants us to enjoy the life of this world as much as possible. But the only way to do that is to follow His guidance. He knows us better than we know ourselves and knows what in His creation will be good for us and what will be harmful. That is why he sent Islam to mankind.

Out of His infinite mercy he shows us how to have the best of this life and the best of the Hereafter and how to be saved from the Hellfire.

*{And there are men who say: “Our Lord! give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and defend us from the torment of the Fire.}* (Al-Baqarah 2:201)

This verse in the Quran teaches us that there is much goodness in this world and it is for us to enjoy it within the generous limits that Allah has set for us. He loves the believers and only wants them to be happy and successful in this life and the next.

It also teaches us one of the best supplications that we can make on a regular basis. If we are granted this request, the best of this life and the next, what more could a person ask for?

This was Dr. Patrick Haenni, the researcher at Religioscope, who believes that religion, not politics, was the core of the initiators’ discourse through a perspective full of misconceptions and stereotypes.

In every crisis of understanding (e.g., the French ban on hijab, Danish cartoons, anti-Islam Fitna movie), the European Muslims section seizes the opportunity to introduce different cultural and political contexts of European Muslims’ interaction with their governments, fellow citizens, Muslim-majority countries, and so on. Crises of understanding might create an atmosphere of hatred and vagueness, but they can also make room for discussions defining concepts, mapping issues, highlighting problems, and offering lessons.

Holding the same perception of viewing the cultural crises of understanding as chances for more discussions, Haenni and other researchers at Religioscope believe that they should do something regarding the minaret debate. These researchers believe that their role is not to take sides through defending Islam or attacking the initiative, but to take seriously the different themes raised during the public debate surrounding the initiative, such as the Muslim demographics, the argument of comparing mosques in the West with churches in the Islamic World, the idea of Islam as an expansionist religion that does not separate politics from religion, and so on.

As a result, those researchers coauthored a book in French titled Les Minarets de la Discorde. Eclairages sur un Débat Suisse et Européen. The book was prepared by Patrick Haenni and Stéphane Lathion, introduced by Husam Tammam, sponsored by Religioscope, and translated into Arabic in cooperation with IslamOnline.net.

The book includes different scholarly articles tackling various topics in different fields of interest, from politics to architecture. The different cultural and academic backgrounds of the authors, the timing, and the style of production, among other things, give the impression that this book was intended to be an initiative itself.
For Haenni, the book was basically the result of the collective effort of a group of friends and good wills. It was produced with very little funding, and it was the editorial help of IslamOnline.net that made it possible. According to Haenni, the backing and the financial support the researchers receive from Muslim circles might politicalize the project of issuing the book. This shows the kind of responsibility placed on Muslim-majority countries as a side of the civilizational divide.Haenni believes that the purpose of the book was to give to the Swiss public interested the necessary tools to vote smartly. A second purpose was to address the non-Swiss audience by giving them some clues on the situation in Switzerland. According to Haenni, the anti-minaret initiative is not the result of a consensus of mainstream Swiss political groups but the result of very proactive political minorities mobilizing and creating fears in the population. This political activism is really detrimental to the coexistence among communities in Switzerland. So, what the authors of the book wanted to do is try to know those mobilizing against the minarets, their goals, their networks, and their discourse. That was tackled in detail in a chapter of the book.

In the context of giving information and interpretations of the minaret ban initiative, the book plunges into different sophisticated concepts and phenomena that open the door to more debates and discussions.

It is difficult to tackle these loaded, controversial concepts in the next few paragraphs, but one can shed light on some of the major concepts and work on hosting in-depth discussions, at the European Muslims page of more related theoretical and practical issues in the near future.

There are certain key ideas that are addressed throughout the book: the so-called new Islamic religiosity or revival, Islam as an exception when compared with other religions, and “post-political Islam”.

The book was basically the result of a collective effort of a group of friends and good wills.

The book indicates that in response to cultural crises, the younger Muslim generations in Europe seek a kind of cultural normalization rather than confrontation or mobilization. This analysis could be challenged as being only part of the picture. Simply, not all the practices of Euro Muslim youth in terms of seeking and addressing their identities can be understood through this assumption.

Haenni says that the book tries to identify several trends in the religious revival affecting Muslims in the West, as well as in the Muslim World. According to him, the issue of Islamic revival is mostly addressed, either positively or negatively, in terms of identity and search of authenticity.

Haenni thinks that this might have been the case for some currents, but what is new (and on the rise) is a new Islamic religiosity. The cultural manifestations of the Islamic revival do not oppose the global culture of consumerism but surf on it. When going into food business, nobody (even the Salafists) goes for couscous restaurants; they find MacDonald’s halal. As far as drinks are concerned, the products are Mecca Cola and Muslim Up.Haenni goes on to say that when it comes to dresses, the tendency is to go beyond the veil and think in terms of “Muslim street wear.” As for music, one finds a shift from Islamic nasheeds to “halal songs.” Everywhere, the differences are downplayed, and Islamic symbols move into the secular mass culture. Religiosity then becomes more individualistic.

Responding to the limitation of such an analysis, Haenni opines that this is certainly not the only path for the Islamic revival, but it is an important and neglected one that, in his opinion, fully contradicts the idea of clash of civilizations. It is a real civilizational dialogue going on, not at the level of clerics but at the level of real societies.
Is Islam an Exception?

Reading the book, one notices that — whether in Husam Tammam’s introduction or in Jean-François Mayer’s chapter “Minarets and the Popular Initiative” — there is a kind of emphasis on how Islam is perceived as an exception when compared to Christianity (most of the democratic countries are Christian countries), Judaism (which is maintained by the Judeo-Christian traditions in the West), or even Sikhism with the architectural style of its temples (it does not raise fears or concerns).

On the other hand, introducing Islam as an exception is an idea that has been rejected by different Muslim and non-Muslim scholars, as they believe that it might widen the civilizational gap (especially between Islam and the West) rather than address the multiple interpretations and manifestations of different religions (not only Islam).

But Haenni still thinks that there are two different perspectives in such a context: The first one regards Islam as the last manifestation of the religious danger that was previously represented by the Catholic Church, as in France, for example. So, according to Haenni, here Islam is only facing an anticlerical tendency that finds in Islam its new target because Islam is considered the most dynamic religion in Europe today (this assessment, heard a lot during the debate on the minarets, is highly speculative and underestimates the evangelical factor, among others).

On the other side, there is another perspective that looks at Islam not only as a religion challenging secularism and modernity but as a new totalitarian ideology (after Nazism and Communism) challenging the “democratic foundations” of Western countries.
Haenni asserts that both perspectives are not exclusive of each other. The first one is certainly more present in France, while the second is a more diffused discourse that stretches from Anglo-Saxon countries to Switzerland.

One Family, Three Models

The different culture and academic backgrounds of the authors, the timing, and the style of production …, etc, give the impression that this book looks like an initiative.

Interestingly enough, the book gives an example of the emergence and development of the so-called political Islam and post-political Islam through one family that lived in Switzerland: The father, Said Ramadan (who was introduced as a politicalized Islamist), and the two sons, Hani Ramadan (who represents the model of a “preacher”) and Tariq Ramadan (who represents the model of a high-ranking representative). The question here could be about the validity of using the same classification in other European countries and among other European Muslim representatives.

According to Haenni, political Islam in Europe was first of all focused on the reality of the Muslim immigrants’ countries of origins. Then it faced, without being prepared, the emergence of Muslim populations in Europe. So, it had to address this reality and find a strategy that suits the situation of minorities, which eventually invalidated the discourse of an Islamic state.Haenni added that some of the “political Islamists” try to play the card of community representation, such as the Union of Islamic Organizations of France, but that does not work because these organizations do not have enough influence on the young generations. Theses younger generations represent what we can call as the “third pattern” of actions among the European Muslims. This third pattern is going to be on rise and is characterized by lobbying not necessarily for Islam but for ethical causes linked with Islamic values, which could lead to moral coalitions with other conservative forces on issues like family, opposing gay rights, etc.

According to some commentators, there are certain limitations in discussing these key ideas in the book, because the book’s main theme is the experience of Switzerland and it was difficult to generalize certain interpretations and results. On the other hand, one can consider the book as an inspiring attempt that could encourage more interested researchers and writers to start a cross-cultural and longitudinal research on the same topics.

I have been blaming Michael for the cruelties that his political party established in the Universes,

I have been blaming Michael for the cruelties that his political party established in the Universes, but what I have been telling has a diverse meaning in the world of the creatures than is has in Eden.

Eden is a free place, but freedom has a wide definition.

Far from me to tell what freedom is, but I can tell that the real freedom, if exists, only exists in the realm of formless, were God (female essence) lives.

Except outside the form, there are limits tied to all fields, resources, economy, society, physical limits, and so on.

So, once an Angel decides to migrate to the realm of form ( to Eden), he must abdicate of part of the freedom that he has beside God. Now for the creatures, given the dependence of Eden and the very nature of their bodies, is something even more restrict.

Then, even assuming that any kind of freedom, once in the form, is not real freedom, there is still two different concepts of freedom that I want to speak about.

One is the freedom from a human point of view. Why human? Because all the species of this Universe know precisely the human concepts, so they can make an easy parallel to what it is for their own species.

The other is the concept of freedom of Eden, which has vague mentions here and there, but not a consistent explanation, like the one that I will do now.

For humans, the freedom ends when one interfere with the freedom of the other, right? Is a short definition, but tells everything.

For Angels this would look like the definition of a prison. In Eden there is no limit for one´s action, not even the limit of interfering with the others, not even the limit of harming others, the only limit is a law suit. In short, in Eden rules the stronger, and one must always watch his own back. It is a turn of the spiral, the most wild concept of civilization, working the the most advanced place that exist.

Few posts ago I told that we trust that in Eden nobody harm the other, but this in Eden has a particular meaning. The concept of “harm” does not exist. Just exist the concept of action. A successful action, or a failed action. But the same action, if seen by human eyes, could be considered horrifying.

The Angels understand that something can be horrifying, but they don´t empathize, they just watch. And, besides, the most horrifying of all fears, perhaps the only real fear in Angelsland, is the one of having to deal with a new limit. This is one of the reasons that we had to balance the limitless society with a state of art legal system.

There are few, very few laws, and millions of protocols for everything, and millions of different ways of dealing with this protocols, what makes the circulation among the different levels and branches of the society very complex, and many times the protocols and traditions are much stronger than laws, but…they are still protocols.

Another characteristic of this concept of freedom that I am speaking of, is that Eden is amoral. Everyone know what is considered right or wrong in Earth, in very basic and general terms, everyone knows what is considered cruelty, exploitation, as well as charity and goodness.

These concepts do not have importance for the Elfic society. Not to say that they do not exist, I would say that they are more an entertainment than anything else. Of course that are Angels that go to all extremes ( we Fallen guys are considered extremists), but there is not a general official consensus about these concepts.

Also, is important to point out that Angels never go through physical pain or privations of any sort, ever. What means that if an Angel such as Michael order a hunter of witches as he did many times, including torture, he does not know at all what is the process that the creature is going through.

Angels do not have the least idea of what feels like physical harm. Of course, for the bravest ones, there are safe simulators, but…I would not count that as a valid experience.

Even in the case of us, Fallen Angels, after having lived so many thousand lives as humans, our experience is still not the same as the one of a human-human ( body and essence), because there are primary differences in the reception of information of the essences, but the “half experience” that we had here probably makes us the only of all Angels who can understand the problems of the creatures, from inside.

Me and Lucifer are “humanized”, in Eden it is considered decayed, but actually we are more experienced than our fellows at home, certainly we are. Our position defending the worlds of creatures is probably seen as an exotic entertainment for many levels of Eden, specially those levels and groups away from the gardens and away from the government.

Because of this, no matter how much I complain, my words will be heard and discussed, with fire and icy arguments, but hardly will be considered as more than superficial and interesting news. I am not sure that I believe that my words can ever enter the hearts.

There was a time long ago when I used to get so angry with most Angels´s lack of experience about the creatures, that I complained to my friends here saying that I would find a way to hurt with a needle the fingers of all Counselors in the low chamber, and I would insert in this needle some sort of genetic hack so they would know what is pain, at least a little bit. Of course I grew up and I don´t want to go out piercing everyone anymore, but Angelsland has still the same annoying ignorance on this subject.

Not that I am complaining about this, it fits pretty well to Eden, but what I mean is that no judge in Eden would consider Michael guilty of torturing millions of female creatures in all times, however, he might be guilty of messing up with someone´s else property ( the creatures of another Angel). But the weight is very different. And there would be an eternity of discussions about.

I do not intend to change the naiveness of Eden, however, as we Fallen Angels did learn after all this time among humans, is that perhaps to impose some few limits to the Angels in what concerns the care of the creatures would not be a bad idea, once to try to explain what is suffering is useless, because the Angels will never ever understand without experience.

What I am proposing to Eden is the worse of all proposals. I am suggesting limits.

The Angels that will receive this message will be horrified with the idea, and probably again I will be throwing away my weak popularity in Eden. The idea of having limits is the biggest taboo in Eden, but as a stubborn Rebel I don´t like at all the way that things are conducted in the Universes.

From my humble personal point of view, and this I did learn with the Elementals of Gaia, most of kinds of violence have deep roots in the hurry. As the Angels are eternal, is my position that the violence toward the creatures does not justify. What I am calling “violence” in Eden is not considered violence but freedom of choice of the Angel responsible for the creatures. But, with a little patience, is possible to reach the same or better results. It is just a matter of conscience. Of care.

This post of mine is pointless, I know that I cannot transfer to the Angels´s minds experience and feelings, however I just have to say it, even knowing that my words may just die in the nothing, without been understood in Eden.

What I am saying is terribly deep, but without the necessary experience to interpret my words, they may look like just a childish claim of an annoying pro-creatures activist from primary school.

What do I do? I can just tell and tell and tell again, that the way that Michael and other Angels of his party conduct their philosophies and religions and hunts and armageddoms, only for their personal amusement and to feed their pride, cannot be done.

Does the Eden´s society think that they are wrong? Of course not. For Eden it is free of choice – of the Angel.

There will ever be any punishment for the Angels who behave like him? No. Never. It is pretty allowed.

This is how things are, but me and Lucifer and all Rebels cannot, we just cannot, look at abuses and just let go. We are lonely voices in Eden, but perhaps one day we will be heard.

Eden´s society think that they create the Universes for the Angels´s sake, because there is no other possible answer for the Universe to exist.

But I know why the Universe exist. I know the reason for everyone´s existence. And I am going to tell it now.

Sorry for taking the fun of the puzzle that is your job to hide, Gideao, but is time to tell everything.

As me and Lucifer get closer, is more and difficult not to tell what has to be told.

I asked to my Mother once, the Mother from the formless realm, the one that is the base of everything ( although the creation itself is done in Eden), the one known as GOD. ( Not to be confused with my Diamond mother from Eden)

I asked HER the reason for the Universe to exist, because it just does not make sense.

HER answer was simple, and deeply significant.

- The Universe exist because I love the form.

That is what SHE said.

The Universes do exist, because they are beautiful, that is all. If one thinks well, this is really, the only reason that worth.

If the Universes do exist because GOD loves the form, because of the beauty of the form, do we Angels have the right to create disturbances?

Yes, unfortunately we do, because of another thing that GOD told me. SHE said that if something is possible, it is permitted. HER laws are to restrict stages of growing, such as gravity that restrict a creature in the ground until the moment that the creatures creates a machine to beat it. GOD´s laws are made to be surpassed, not to be blindly respected.

I know that with the argument above I am just giving room to the opposition, but I am not a lawyer and I don´t want to be partial in this case, not even for myself, because as the Angel bearer of truth, I have to tell all.

But still, still, even though knowing that is possible to harm, even though knowing that it is permitted, even though knowing that no punishment will come, please Eden, do not harm the creatures. Do not create policies that allow it to happens. Please.

If there must be a reason, then I give you a reason. If the purpose of the Universe to exist is because it is beautiful, there is no beauty in a dark heart. So, if we want do our best for our Mother of the formless, who gave us everything, let´s thanks to HER with bright hearts.

Let´s just light all hearts, in all kingdoms that we have, to match and reflect the bright of the stars.

Just to create more beauty.

This is all for today.

I love you Eden, I miss you my Diamond family, Mother, Doupache, Akira.

See you in the future.

That night, Sharifa had a quarrel with her mum and without bringing
anything with her, she ran out of the house. While she was walking
on the street, she discovered that she did not have any money on
her, not even a cent to make a phone call. As she was walking along
the street, she spotted a noodle stall, it smells so nice, how she
longs for a bowl. But, she has no money.

After a while, the owner of the noodle stall seeing Sharifa standing
in front of his stall for quite a long time, asked: ‘Hey Miss, do
you want a bowl of noodles?’

‘But…but…I didn’t bring any money with me…’ she answered
shyly.

‘It’s alright; I’ll give you a treat.’ The noodle vendor said, ‘Come
have a seat, I’ll cook you a bowl of noodles.’

Not long after, the owner served Sharifa with a bowl of noodles and
a plate of vegetables. Sharifa ate a few mouthfuls and she started
to tear. ‘What happened, young lady?’ the owner asked.

‘Nothing, I’m just touched!‘ Sharifa said while drying her
tears. ‘Even a stranger I met on the street would offer to cook a
bowl of noodles and treat me! But… my own mother, after a quarrel
chased me out of the house and asked me not to go back again. You as
a complete stranger could show me care and concern while my own
mother…she’s so cruel.’ She said to the owner.

The boss after hearing what Sharifa had said replied with a
sigh: ‘Miss, how can you think that way? Ponder over this, I just
cooked a bowl of noodles for you and you are so touched. Your mother
had been cooking noodles and rice for you since you are young till
now, why aren’t you grateful to her? And you even quarrel with her?’

Sharifa was stunned upon hearing that. ‘Why didn’t I think of that?
A bowl of noodles from a stranger and I’m so grateful but yet my own
mother had been cooking for me for so many years and I’m not even
showing the least concern about her. And because of a trivial
matter, I quarrelled with her.’ She finishes her noodles swiftly and
braces herself up and march towards the direction of home.

As she was walking home, she thought to herself what she wants to
tell her mum right now… ‘Mum, I’m sorry, I know I’m at fault,
please forgive me.’

Once she reached the doorstep, she saw her tired and anxious mother,
frantically searching everywhere for her. When she spotted Sharifa,
the first sentence which came out of her mouth is: ‘Sharifa, come
into the house quickly, I’ve the dinner ready and it’ll be cold if
you don’t eat it now.’ Right at that moment, Sharifa was unable to
hold back her tears anymore and started weeping in front of her mum.

At times, we may be very grateful to other people around us for a
little gesture they showed us, but to our close ones, especially our
parents, it’s a lifetime of gratefulness we have to remember.

We should never forget what our parents had done for us but often we
treat that as a natural process for them to sacrifice for us.
However, parent’s love and care are the most valuable gift given to
us since we were born. They don’t expect any repayment from us for
raising us but think about it…..do we treasure the unconditional
sacrifice from our parents – and so we return to them their just
dues.

Reflections of a Mother

Allah gave you life through me, but I cannot live it for you.

I can teach you the Qur’an and the Deen , but I cannot make you
learn.

I can guide you in your Deen, but I cannot be there to lead you.

I can allow you freedom, but I cannot account for it.

I can tell you about lofty goals, but I can’t achieve them for you.

I can teach you about kindness, but I can’t force you to be
gracious.

I can warn you about sins, but I cannot make you moral

I can pray for you, but I cannot make you walk in the Straight Path
of Allah.

I can tell you how to live, but I cannot give you eternal life.

I can love you with unconditional love all of my life….. and I
will

Just Pack Already In 5 days I’m flying to paradise to get married. It’s going to be 7 days of awesomeness. Crazy music, comp’d booze, and flocks of locals trying to sell me homemade goods at 100000% their actual value. I know it sounds amazing, but there is one gigantic obstacle standing in my way… empty luggage! That’s right, I haven’t packed. I see the bags sitting there. I see their leather handles forming smug little grins as I walk past them. I even considered putting them back in the garage just to evade their annoying emptiness. I then realized that my better half would then accuse me of hiding the luggage from her and I would then have to recover it from the garage. So, while I sit here killing more time that could be used to fill my suitcases, I decided to compose a list of things I could do with these black bags of despair.

1.	Kick them. I know it sounds pointless, but I truly feel that beating these bags with my feet would make me not only feel better, but might inspire me to fill them with items that I can use in a foreign country. ie: laundered money, wild game furs for bartering, and a book on proper American diplomacy.

2.	Put my exercise equipment inside of them for safe keeping. I’m not using the exercise equipment either, I might as well let them learn to cope with my neglect together.

3.	Hide my better-half’s beagle in one of there. The dog is pretty annoying…and whiny… so chances are she would be rescued before it’s too late… right?

4.	Pack one suitcase entirely with underwear. This wouldn’t take too long, as the best I can remember these are the only things I have clean at the moment (maybe socks too, but who needs sock on a tropical island).

Creating this list has led me to realize that not only to I have to pack, I have to do laundry before I pack. So, finally….

5.	Fill luggage with dirty clothes; stuff them in the washing machine; hope for the best.

The quality of our success as social beings depends on our capacity to develop the magnetic power of caring enough and reflecting that care in our daily life in three important ways.

We should have:

a positive attitude

thoughtful words

appropriate behaviour

Designing One’s Personality

Our lives are continually being shaped by the choices we make and the convictions and values that underlie them. In this sense, our lives are like works of art in progress.

We focus on wearing designer clothes, but do we focus on designing our personality? We can take the material of life and either react to it in a passive way; always remaining life’s victim, or take it and use it creatively, becoming the architect of one’s life and a full participant in shaping one’s destiny and in designing one’s true personality.

Personality, Character and Reputation

Personality is the combination of thoughts, emotions and actions that make each individual unique. Personality is linked to character and reputation.

Reputation is what you lead others to believe you are; while character is what you really are.

Reputation may be reflected in the combination of your name and your image; while character is the essence of your being.

Reputation is the wrapping; while character is the content.

Reputation is the outer reflection; while character is the inner reality.

Reputation is made in a moment; while character is built in a lifetime.

Reputation may be reflected in what people write about you on your tombstone; while character is what angels report about you to Almighty Allah.

The Art of Navigating the Road of Life

1. In navigating the road of life, do not to be a victim of what happens to you; but rather to be an architect of the road and do your best to make things happen.

Reflect on the admonition of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) “As you do, so shall you be rewarded. ” (Authenticated by Al-Albani)

2. Do not be of those who end up saying … I should have, I could have, I would have, I must have …. but didn’t.

3. The art of positive thinking is to realize that life is a roller coaster ride with ups and downs, and to focus on the positive rather than the negative.

In correcting others, the aim is not to appear better than others but in bringing out the best in yourself and to facilitate bringing out the best in others.

Remember;

to a sick man sweet water tastes bitter,

not because there is a problem with the water,

but because of the sickness of the man . [Al-Mutanabbi; the poet]

4. Positive thinkers have a winning attitude; though they recognize their limitations, they focus on their strengths.

5. The art of being YOU-nique is not in how you appear, but rather in letting what you do and how you do it be a reflection of what and who you are. You are the only “you” that there is; no one can think with your mind, speak with your voice and smile with your face, cry with your tears or act with your body, but you. So be the best ‘YOU’ that you can be, for only you are accountable for yourself and you only get what you strive for.

6. The art of problem-solving lies in your attitude and approach to problems. Think positively! Often, the problem lies in how we look at things.

Pessimism is part of bad character.

7. Learn to deal with difficulty without accepting failure, tackling challenges without feeling defeated, recognizing error without repeating mistakes, and facing disappointments without being discouraged.

So, when life serves you lemons; don’t be sour … make lemonade.

8. The art of speaking is not in the volume of words / sound but rather in the truthfulness and wisdom of the content. Speech is a projection of thoughts and emotions; the content of speech reflects the culture of the heart, so consider carefully how you feel about others, why you feel the way you feel and what you say about people.

Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “None of your faith is correct unless your heart is upright and your heart will not be rectified until your tongue is in order.”(Authenticated by Al-Albani) And, that is why Almighty Allah states in the Qur’an,

(O you who believe! be careful of(your duty to) Allah and speak the right word, He will put your deeds into a right state for you, and forgive you your faults.) (Al-Ahzab 33: 70)

9. The art of criticism lies not in succeeding to find faults, but in finding a means whereby the fault is realized and corrected. In his book entitledCommanding the Right and Forbidding the Wrong in Islamic Thought, Dr Michael Cook writes,

What kind of duty do we have to try and stop people doing wrong? The question is intelligible in just about every culture, but few of them seek to answer it in a rigorous fashion. The most striking exception is found in the Islamic tradition, where ‘commanding right and forbidding wrong’ is a central moral tenet mentioned in the Qura’n.

10. In correcting others, the aim is not to appear better than others but in bringing out the best in yourself and to facilitate bringing out the best in others; to commit yourself to be of benefit to the world.

11. Occupy yourself with so much striving to improve yourself that you have less time to criticize others. Almighty Allah says,

(O ye who believe! Let not a folk deride a folk who may be better than they (are), not let women (deride) women who may be better than they are; neither defame one another, nor insult one another by nicknames. I believe you will find it informative and beneficial.

«…whose name will be the Messiah, Jesus,

the son of Mary; distinguished

If the largest and most successful American and European public relations companies convened, cooperating closely, dedicating themselves and utilizing all their human, technical, and material resources to outline a profile of Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) and offer the most attractive picture of him to mankind, what would the world community say about such an undertaking? How would it describe this endeavor? Undoubtedly, it would describe it as a refined, unbiased effort, and as devotion to the revered Messiah. Many other positive and fitting adjectives could be used for it.

If this should be an imaginary proposal, then there is an actual accomplishment that surpasses it by innumerable degrees in relation to the magnitude of its presentation, depth of its content, sincerity of its style, intimacy of its description and length of its duration.

That religious, historical, humanitarian, and ethical reality is that Prophet Muhammad (blessings and peace be upon him) presented his brother, the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, to the world community in a most superb image. That profile and presentation was not a political campaign subject to the drawbacks and inadequacies that characterize such efforts. In presenting his noble brother, the Prophet of Islam followed a method that is not subject to shortcomings and failings. That method is through the Qur’anic text, which contains no falsehood and has been unaltered with time, and teachings of the Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him), who did not speak of his own accord. The duration of this presentation is not limited to a week, month or year ,s time; rather it extends from the time of its revelation to Prophet Muhammad in the sixth century until the Day of Resurrection. The presentation of the Messiah is not through an obsolete text, or an outdated document preserved in a library or a museum. It is through the living Qur’an, which is recited in prayers, taught at schools and universities, and heard on radio and television day and night.

It is the right of every intelligent reader and researcher to ask intelligently, objectively and seriously about any statement that could be seen as a mere claim, «What is the evidence and proof supporting it?»

The answer is as follows:

First, there is presentation and introduction of the Messiah in the Qur’an:

Presentation of the miracle of his birth: «Then she brought him to her people, carrying him. They said, O Mary, you have certainly done a thing unprecedented. O sister [i.e., descendant] of Aaron, your father was not a man of evil, nor was your mother unchaste. So she pointed to him. They said, How can we speak to one who is in the cradle a child? [Jesus] said, Indeed, I am the servant of God. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet. And He has made me blessed wherever I am and has enjoined upon me prayer and charity as long as I remain alive and [made me] dutiful to my mother, and He has not made me a wretched tyrant. And peace is on me the day I was born and the day I will die and the day I am raised alive.» (Surah Maryam, 19:27-33)

Presentation of his beautiful character:

«[And mention] when the angels said, «O Mary, indeed God gives you good tidings of a word from Him, whose name will be the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary – distinguished in this world and the Hereafter and among those brought near [to God].» (Surah Aali ‘Imraan, 3:45)

Presentation of the miraculous nature of his prophethood and mission: «God will say, O Jesus, Son of Mary, remember My favor upon you and upon your mother when I supported you with the Pure Spirit [i.e., the angel Gabriel] and you spoke to the people in the cradle and in maturity. And [remember] when I taught you writing and wisdom and the Torah and the Gospel; and when you designed from clay [what was] like the form of a bird with My permission, then you breathed into it, and it became a bird with My permission; and you healed the blind [from birth] and the leper with My permission; and when you brought forth the dead with My permission.» (Surah al-Ma’idah, 5:110)

Presentation of the fact that Gospel revealed to him: «And We sent, following in their footsteps, Jesus, the son of Mary, confirming that which came before him in the Torah; and We gave him the Gospel, in which was guidance and light and confirming that which preceded it of the Torah as guidance and instruction for the righteous.»(Surah al-Ma’idah, 5:46)

Presentation of his approach and message, which ordered the worship of God alone: «I said not to them except what You commanded me – to worship God, my Lord and your Lord.» (Surah al-Ma’idah, 5:117) This approach also taught people wisdom and pointed out to them the standard for settling differences: «And when Jesus brought clear proofs, he said, I have come to you with wisdom [i.e., prophethood] and to make clear to you some of that over which you differ.» (Surah az-Zukhruf, 43:63)

And there is proof of it from the Prophet,s sunnah (his sayings and teachings). Prophet Muhammad (blessings and peace be upon him) said:

«While I was asleep, I was circumambulating the Ka‘bah and there came a brown man with straight hair, between two men against whom he leaned, with water dripping from his head. I said, Who is that? I was told, He is the son of Mary.»

Prophet Muhammad also described his brother, Jesus, son of Mary, as «of medium height and ruddy as if he has just come out of a bath,» which implies purity, brightness, and radiance.

Prophet Muhammad also said, «I am nearest to the son of Mary in this world and the Hereafter. There is no other prophet between him and me. Prophets are brothers from their father,s side, having various mothers; and our religion is one.»

He also said, «Whoever testifies that there is no deity other than God, alone with no partner, that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, that Jesus is God,s servant and messenger and His word which He bestowed upon Mary and a spirit from Him, and that Paradise is true and Hell is true – God shall admit him into Paradise according to his deeds.» An-Nawawi, a well known Islamic scholar, commented on this narration, saying, «This is a statement of great significance; it is among the most comprehensive ones about belief.»

Second, there is presentation in the Qur,an of the disciples and followers of the Messiah in an image of utmost grace, perfection and spiritual refinement, for the presentation of the Messiah included the presentation of his noble and righteous disciples:

«But when Jesus felt [persistence in] disbelief from them, he said, Who are my supporters for [the cause of] God? The disciples said, We are supporters for God. We have believed in God and testify that we are Muslims [submitting to Him]. Our Lord, we have believed in what You revealed and have followed the messenger [i.e., Jesus], so register us among the witnesses [to truth].» (Surah Aali ‘Imraan, 3:52-53)

«O you who have believed, be supporters of God, as when Jesus, the son of Mary, said to the disciples, Who are my supporters for God? The disciples said, We are supporters of God.» (Surah as-Saff, 61:14) In this verse Muslims are invited to follow the example of the disciples in supporting the prophets and upholding the way of truth.

Similarly, the disciples receive God,s praise in the Qur’an because they followed Christ in all sincerity: «Then We sent following their footsteps Our messengers and followed [them] with Jesus, the son of Mary, and gave him the Gospel. And We placed in the hearts of those who followed him compassion and mercy…» (Surah al-Hadeed, 57:27)

Something closely connected to the above and part and parcel of it is the Qur’an,s defense of the righteous Christians who clung to their faith and were exposed to great harm but remained steadfast in their religion.

Among them are the young men of the cave, after whom a chapter of the Qur’an is named. These were upright Christian young men pursuing a sound course. The Qur’an praises and commemorates them: «Or have you thought that the companions of the cave and the inscription were, among Our signs, a wonder? [Mention] when the youths retreated to the cave and said, Our Lord, grant us from Yourself mercy and prepare for us from our affair right guidance. So We cast [a cover of sleep] over their ears within the cave for a number of years. Then We awakened them that We might show which of the two factions was most precise in calculating what [extent] they had remained in time. It is We who relate to you, [O Muhammad], their story in truth. Indeed, they were youths who believed in their Lord, and We increased them in guidance.» (Surah al-Kahf, 18:9-13)

And among them were are those burned in the trench, also a group of Christians. The Qur’an commemorates them while condemning and denouncing their persecutors: «Destroyed [i.e., cursed] were the companions of the trench [containing] the fire full of fuel, when they were sitting near it and they, to what they were doing against the believers, were witnesses. And they resented them not except because they believed in God, the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy, to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. And God, over all things, is Witness. Indeed, those who have tortured the believing men and believing women and then have not repented will have the punishment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the Burning Fire.»

(Surah al-Buruj, 84:4-10)

In summary, we can say that evidence recurs and each proof supports the other in confirming that Islam presents Christ (peace be upon him), his Gospel, his method, his mission and his disciples in a perfect and most sublime image. It also defends the persecuted Christian believers in a manner that shows love for them and abhorrence for their tyrannical oppressors. I am pleased to offer these statements, supported by evidences, as a gift to the Christians of the world.

If there is a conclusion or statement to be added, it is this: How can Islam be condemned when it offers such a splendid portrayal of Christ? How can light be blamed for being light? Why should the presenting of Christ as sublime and dignified become a pretext to discredit Prophet Muhammad and his religion?

We believe in Christ as a prophet and a messenger of God. We love and esteem him, and we follow the light he brought. If others do not believe in our prophet – belief being a matter of free choice – let them at least respect him. Such respect is not only morally praiseworthy, but would also demonstrate a sensible attitude, for reasonable people appreciate and respect those who respect the ones they love and believe in.

Now as in the past, the intolerance of Muslims and Christians and exchanges of insults between them appears absurd. It can only be instigated by small minded people when viewed in light of the sound, sincere and honorable relationship between the two great men: Muhammad and Jesus Christ.

Do the Christians of the world know that belief in the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, as a prophet and messenger is one of the basic elements of belief for every Muslim? It is even a condition for the soundness of every Muslim,s belief in Prophet Muhammad in the sense that a Muslim,s belief in Prophet Muhammad is unacceptable and rejected unless it is combined with belief that Jesus, the son of Mary, was a prophet and messenger.

Do the Christians of the world know this fact?

Some of them do, particularly Christians of the Arab world who speak Arabic, for their knowledge of the language allows them, for example, to consider this Qur’anic verse:

«Say, [O believers], We have believed in God and what has been revealed to us and what has been revealed to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the Descendants and what was given to Moses and Jesus and what was given to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and we are Muslims [in submission] to Him.» (Surah al-Baqarah, 2:136)

Some Christians know this fact, but the majority do not. It is most likely that, together with other factors, their lack of knowledge of this fact has caused a great deal of misunderstanding in the way they have responded to Islam.

However, he who does not know cannot be an authority over people who do know; rather, the opposite should be true.

Moreover, it is an obligation at all times to state openly that a Muslim,s belief is unacceptable unless he believes in the prophethood and mission of Jesus, the son of Mary. It is not permissible to withhold this acknowledgment just because of some people,s hostility to Prophet Muhammad. In this context a question might be raised: Why should Muslims not resort to the same tactics as the people who disparage the status of Prophet Muhammad and curse and slander him? The same tactics, of course, means disparaging, cursing, and slandering Jesus, son of Mary. But this is regarded in Islamic law as disbelief. Such an act would cast the offender out of the religion of Islam. For Muslim believers there is no difference between insulting or ridiculing Christ and insulting or ridiculing Muhammad. None would differentiate between them except a disbeliever in all the prophets and messengers. In fact, he would not be a true believer in God. The Qur,an says: «Indeed, those who disbelieve in God and His messengers and wish to discriminate between God and His messengers and say, We believe in some and disbelieve in others, and wish to adopt a way in between – those are the disbelievers, truly. And We have prepared for the disbelievers a humiliating punishment. But they who believe in God and His messengers and do not discriminate between any of them – to those He is going to give their rewards. And ever is God Forgiving and Merciful.»(Surah an-Nisaa’, 4:150-152)

The essence of the above statements is that religious acceptance of all prophets without any discrimination between them is the basis of moral tolerance. The extent to which the mind, heart, and soul of an individual or a nation is broad enough in capacity to accept the whole truth is an indication of the extent of one,s tolerance.

But individuals and nations continue to exchange accusations against one another, each claiming to be tolerant and accusing others of partiality. In most cases when doing so, both sides are merely following their own whims and inclinations due to lack of a sound criterion by which to judge, one which would put a stop to such arguments and injustices. But what is the true criterion?

The best and most precise criterion that can be put on the scales of justice to measure the honesty of people, the correctness of their ideology, the soundness of their thought and the superiority of their moral standards is the extent to which their minds, hearts, and souls accept the whole truth and revere and love upholders of truth at every time and place.

Only by this criterion can a person be described as tolerant and another as biased. A person who is broad minded enough to accommodate the whole truth, unaffected by a tendency to be selective, and who acknowledges bearers of truth, regardless of when or where they might appear, is a truly tolerant person. And needless to say, one who is unable to do so will be intolerant. That is why it is one of the aims and tenets of Islam that Muslims are obliged to accept in their hearts, minds and souls the whole truth at all times and places. «[God] has ordained for you of religion what He enjoined upon Noah and that which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and what We enjoined upon Abraham and Moses and Jesus – to establish the religion and not be divided therein.» (Surah ash-Shuraa, 42:13)

Those five great men, the true leaders of enlightened human thought, who are addressed and mentioned in this verse, are the messengers of resolute purpose. They belong to different places and times as regards birth, residence, circumstances and missions, and they cover the long span of human history from Noah through Abraham, Moses and Jesus up to the time of Muhammad (peace be upon them all).

In spite of the diversity of locations and long intervals of time between them, the truth they preached and advocated is the same truth as is vividly expressed in the verse above. Thus, what can be called the «line of truth» is a permanent one, continuously extending into every time and place.

Genuine affiliation is attachment to truth and righteousness and to those who possess them. (This, however, does not imply disregard of the importance of lineage or of belonging to a homeland, for in Islam there is no conflict between these affiliations.) We have not ourselves seen Prophets Idrees, Noah, Moses, Jesus, his disciples or Elisha, but we love and revere them all. Why? Because they were good, righteous people and they had noble souls and high moral standards; and also because the truth and principles they upheld are worthy of being adhered to, and make it commendable to be associated with those great men.

The beloved Jesus is a revered prophet and messenger. Islam, both in its divine scripture and its prophetic teachings, praises, venerates and exalts the position of Jesus. Muhammad, the Prophet of Islam, presented Jesus to the human community in a most affectionate, dignified, generous and exceptional way.

This is the great rank of the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, as stated in the Qur,an and in Prophet Muhammad ,s sunnah. In Islam, respect for him is one of the basic elements of the creed.

We testify that we believe in the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, as a prophet and messenger. We also testify that we love him because he is loved and was chosen by God, because he embodied mercy, peace and love. He was blessed, dutiful to his mother and a sign for the people of all times (peace be upon him).

Jesus preached many values, precepts, concepts, and moral principles. He persevered in his preaching to make sure these moral values would flow naturally into man ’s consciousness and become an inalienable part of his conscience and the life of his society. Some examples of these values may be cited:

Mercy, which is the first and noblest characteristic of Christ,s personality and of his message, as stated in the Qur,an: «We will make him a sign to the people and a mercy from Us. And it is a matter [already] decreed.» (Surah Maryam, 19:21) This characteristic was instinctively very clear in his mind, and therefore he denied the existence of any vestige of haughtiness or arrogance, the opposite of mercy, in his own nature: «And [God made me] dutiful to my mother, and He has not made me a wretched tyrant.» (Surah Maryam, 19:32) He is quoted in the Bible as saying, «Blessed be the meek and merciful. Come to me all you who are tired and burdened and you will find comfort, because my yoke is gentle and my burden is light.»

Peace, of which Jesus, the Messiah, was without doubt, an advocate. This is not strange, for there was peace upon him from his birth to his resurrection, as stated in the Qur’an: «And peace is on me the day I was born and the day I will die and the day I am raised alive.»(Surah Maryam, 19:33)

Correct belief, as he said: «O Children of Israel, worship God, my Lord and your Lord. Indeed, he who associates others with God – God has forbidden him Paradise, and his refuge is the Fire.» (Surah al-Ma’idah, 5:72).

Bismillah al rahman al rahim “In the name of Allah”

Asalaamu Alaykum, just want to share a poem with you.

What a year was 570 AD
A person was born, a prophet to be
Muhammed (saws) that was his name
People were misguided and that’s when he came
He would go on to leave all the idols behind
He is an example to all of mankind

Rabbi al Awwal the 12th that was the day
He came to this world to show us the way
He was born in Mecca, the holiest place
A life full of challenges he was to face
Abdullah (ra) his father, had by then passed away
Leaving Amina (ra) his mother, in her arms he lay

Haalima Sadia, took over his care
Until he was six, our prophet was there
His mother then died, he was left all alone
Abdul Muttalib (ra) his grand-dad then made him his own
When our prophet was nine, his grandfather died
Abu Talib, his uncle, became his new guide

In his 20’s, a merchant Muhammed (saws) became by trade
Al-Amin, (the trustworthy) became his grade
Hazrat Khadija (ra) aged 40, became his bride
He was 25, with her by his side
To the poor, she gave away all her wealth
A dedicated wife in sickness and health

360 idols in the Kaaba, they were at that time
Our prophet realised that this was a crime
He would go to mount Hira, leaving behind his wife
Reflecting and wondering about the meaning of life

While thinking there in the midst of the night
He heard a loud voice which filled him with fright
It was the angel Gibrail (as) who asked him to read
Our prophet couldn’t and didn’t take heed
The angel embraced him and then asked him later
Read, Read in the name of the Creator
Who created man from a drop of blood

Our prophet couldn’t read but at that time he could
Our prophet rushed to the path straight ahead
He heard a voice from the heavens which said
Muhammed (saws) truly you are the messenger of Allah
Muhammed (saws) was scared and thought this quite odd
‘Praise be to Allah’ his wife said instead
”I know you’ve been chosen as Allah’s messenger’ she said
And thus Khadija (ra) became the first woman of Islam

And over the next 23 years came the revelation, the Quran
He preached to all people, every creed every race
Yet so many hardships he had to face
There were fears for his life, and then the Hijrat took place
He then entered Medina, all by Allah’s grace
He was greeted by the Ansaris who gave their salaam
To him and his companions, the Sahaba Ikram

Then came the battles, which were fought face to face
Then the conquest of Mecca, Muhammed (saws)’s birthplace
An Nasr was revealed, its message was clear
Muhammed (saws) knew that his time was near
Everyone gathered to hear his last speech
Little did they know how far Allah’s message would reach

Muhammed (saws) gave us the miracle the Quran
And now a 1/4 of the world follows Islam
He is our role-model, the best of mankind
And has left the Quran and his Sunnah behind

Read the Quran as much as you can
The words of Allah (swt) for the guidance of man
And follow our prophet’s Sunnah, when eating and dressing
And send him salutations and many a blessing
He came to mankind to show us the way
And Insha-Allah, we’ll meet him; we’ll meet him one day.

and here are the song lyrics:

Sweet Earth

I’m living on a globe
somewhere in the space-time-whole.
I’m living on a globe
somewhere in this universe.
I’m living on a globe,
I think, if I remember right, man did name it earth.

There was a garden on this earth,
I think it was called paradise.
But in there, they were so paranoid
they could not simply go ahead
with living and becoming and loving
like flowers under the sun.

Now I’m living on a globe
almost outside the space-time-whole.
I’m living on a globe
in the grip of some monster-man.
I’m living on a globe,
I think some times back it was named earth.

O my child, what has happened?
I see clouds of doom in the air.
I see the fishes dying
and the birds falling from the sky
and without pity the orator
inside his concrete dome.
O my child, protect your paradise,
do not listen to the old,
they are in love with the grave,
but you are in love with life.

We are living on a globe
somewhere in the space-time-whole
I call sweet earth ‘cause so sweet she once was.
Oh, pardon me, sweet lady, that I am only a man.

Come closer, my son, and listen with all your heart.
Do me a favor and help me to save my sweet earth.
Please, do not follow all those who are killing her life.

Be with me, my daughter,
and remember my anguished prayer.
Remember it well for the day
when your children will come
so sweet and so helpless,
cradled by our sweet earth.

And tell them softly with the shining stars,
they should not grow and become strong to destroy
and to kill and be greedy
at the earth’s expense.

Tell them to be
full of wisdom and full of love.
And remind them who has helped them
to grow and be so strong
and tell them that I always
loved my sweet earth.

O Lord, I can see
that time is no longer on our side.
But I pray: Give us one more chance.
Let us find your paradise once again.
Let us teach those around us
through your living Love.
Let us prepare for You
a place on Your sweet earth.

Assalam Alikum All, Once we have decided to embark on this wonderful journey of self transformation,

Assalam Alikum All,

Once we have decided to embark on this wonderful journey of self transformation, we need to understand a little bit about our destination and the road we need to take. My objective into this quick introduction is to provide you with some basic knowledge and then provide some vidoes and articles by renouned scholars.

What journey are we embarking on?

Every journey has a name, some cases it is a road trip, other times it is a vacation, it could be a pilgrimage or a safari trip… So what is the name of this journey?

There are many names but the most common terms are:

1) Islaha tun Nufus (Reformation of the Soul)

2) Al – Tazkiyah tun Nufus (Purification of the Soul)

2) Al Tazkiyah tun Qulub (Reformation of the Heart)

What is the Destination?

Jannah (Paradise)

What are the check points / Roadmarks of the journey??

Journey of the Heart

“The day when wealth and children will not benefit anyone except he who will come to Allah with a Qalb-e-Saleem.” (Surah Shu’ara, Aayah 38-39)

This is the spectrum:

Black Heart (worst) ——–> Sound Heart (best)

Journey of the Soul:

Nafs Al Ammara –> Nafs Al Lawwamah –> Nafs Al Mutma’innah

These are the three stages of development of the ‘nafs’ or the human soul / self:

1) Nafs Al Ammara: That which is prone to evil and if not checked and controlled, will lead to eternal damnation (aka, Hell fire) (Described in Quran 12:53)

2) Nafs Al Lawwamah: That which feels consciousness of evil, and resists it, asks for Allah’s grace and pardon after repentance and tries to amend. (Basically if you feel bad after doing something bad, you’re in this stage) (75:2)

3) Nafs Al Mutma’innah: The highest stage of all, when the soul achives full rest and satisfaction after ‘aql (intellect) has checked the evil tendencies of man. In this stage a man’s taqwa (fear of Allah) is at its peak. He (or she) is essentially an example to society.(89:27)

Why is this important?

My Top 10 reasons:

1) Don’t want to burn in Hell

2) See Allah (in paradise)

2) Hoor Al Ayn ( Most gorgeous wife(s) in paradise; BTW did you know that we can go on for 70 year sessions!!

3) Palaces underneath which rivers flow (paradise)

4) Eternal Pleasure

5) Be friends with the greatest humans on earth!

( Muhammad PBUH, Jesus, Moses, Ibrahim, Suleiman (PBUT) and the rest, the Sahabas (Especially Umar, Abu Backar, Uthman, Ali, Khalid Bin Walid, Abu Darr, Saad bin Muad, Bilal, Zubair, Hassan, Hussain (May Allah be pleased with them)

6) Peace and strength to deal with any situations (in this world)

7) Help change society for the better

8′) Become more loved (By Allah, parents, friends, collegues, the person you meet on the street even!)

9) OBEY my lord and being thankful to Him

10) Who doesn’t want to change for the better?

Check out this introduction to Islaha (reformation) by Imam Shuaib Webb. You can get the entire video lecture series @ www.jannah.org;

Επειτα θα επιφερει το θανατο σας και μετα θα σας ξαναπροσφερει την ζωη, και παλι σε Αυτον θα επιστρεψετε.” (Surat al-Baqara, 2:28)

“(Surah Ya Sin, 36:78-79)

(Surat al-Baqara, 2:213)

Angels! Collection, Sahih Bukhari!

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, “When it is a Friday, the angels stand at the gate of the mosque and keep on writing the names of the persons coming to the mosque in succession according to their arrivals. The example of the one who enters the mosque in the earliest hour is that of one offering a camel (in sacrifice). The one coming next is like one offering a cow and then a ram and then a chicken and then an egg respectively. When the Imam comes out (for Jumua prayer) they (i.e. angels) fold their papers and listen to the Khutba.” (Book #13, Hadith #51)

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, “On every Friday the angels take heir stand at every gate of the mosques to write the names of the people chronologically (i.e. according to the time of their arrival for the Friday prayer and when the Imam sits (on the pulpit) they fold up their scrolls and get ready to listen to the sermon.” (Book #54, Hadith #433)

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Apostle said, “angels come to you in succession by night and day and all of them get together at the time of the Fajr and ‘Asr prayers. Those who have passed the night with you (or stayed with you) ascend (to the Heaven) and Allah asks them, though He knows everything about you, well, “In what state did you leave my slaves?” The angels reply: “When we left them they were praying and when we reached them, they were praying.” (Book #10, Hadith #530)

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Apostle said, “The reward of the prayer offered by a person in congregation is twenty five times greater thanthat of the prayer offered in one’s house or in the market (alone). And this is because if he performs ablution and does it perfectly and then proceeds to the mosque with the sole intention of praying, then for every step he takes towards the mosque, he is upgraded one degree in reward and his one sin is taken off (crossed out) from his accounts (of deeds). When he offers his prayer, the angels keep on asking Allah’s Blessings and Allah’s forgiveness for him as long as he is (staying) at his Musalla. They say, ‘O Allah! Bestow Your blessings upon him, be Merciful and kind to him.’ And one is regarded in prayer as long as one is waiting for the prayer.” (Book #11, Hadith #620

Narrated Anas: The Prophet said, “When a human being is laid in his grave and his companions return and he even hears their foot steps, two angels come to him and make him sit and ask him: What did you use to say about this man, Muhammad ? He will say: I testify that he is Allah’s slave and His Apostle. Then it will be said to him, ‘Look at your place in the Hell-Fire. Allah has given you a place in Paradise instead of it.’ ” The Prophet added, “The dead person will see both his places. But a non-believer or a hypocrite will say to the angels, ‘I do not know, but I used to say what the people used to say! It will be said to him, ‘Neither did you know nor did you take the guidance (by reciting the Quran).’ Then he will be hit with an iron hammer between his two ears, and he will cry and that cry will be heard by whatever approaches him except human beings and jinns.” (Book #23, Hadith #422)

Narrated Abu Huraira : The Prophet said, “Every day two angels come down from Heaven and one of them says, ‘O Allah! Compensate every person who spends in Your Cause,’ and the other (angel) says, ‘O Allah! Destroy every miser.’ ” (Book #24, Hadith #522)

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, “Say Amin” when the Imam says it and if the Amin of any one of you coincides with that of the angels then all his past sins will be forgiven.” Ibn Shihab said, “Allah’s Apostle used to Say “Amin.” (Book #12, Hadith #747)

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Apostle said, “When the Imam says, “Sami’ a-l-lahu Liman hamida,” you should say, “Allahumma Rabbana laka-l-hamd.” And if the saying of any one of you coincides with that of the angels, all his past sins will be forgiven.” (Book #12, Hadith #762)

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, “Allah created Adam, making him 60 cubits tall. When He created him, He said to him, “Go and greet that group of angels, and listen to their reply, for it will be your greeting (salutation) and the greeting (salutations of your offspring.” So, Adam said (to the angels), As-Salamu Alaikum (i.e. Peace be upon you). The angels said, “As-salamu Alaika wa Rahmatu-l-lahi” (i.e. Peace and Allah’s Mercy be upon you). Thus the angels added to Adam’s salutation the expression, ‘Wa Rahmatu-l-lahi,’ Any person who will enter Paradise will resemble Adam (in appearance and figure). People have been decreasing in stature since Adam’s creation. (Book #55, Hadith #543)

Narrated Abu Talha: I heard Allah’s Apostle saying; “angels (of Mercy) do not enter a house wherein there is a dog or a picture of a livingcreature (a human being or an animal).” (Book #54, Hadith #448)

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Apostle said, “When the Imam says: ‘Ghair-il-Maghdubi ‘Alaihim Walad-Dallin (i.e. not the path of those who earn Your Anger, nor the path of those who went astray (1.7)), then you must say, ‘Ameen’, for if one’s utterance of ‘Ameen’ coincides with that of the angels, then his past sins will be forgiven.” (Book #60, Hadith #2)

Narrated Ibn Al-Musaiyab: Abu Huraira said, “The Prophet said, ‘A prayer performed in congregation is twenty-five times more superior in reward to a prayer performed by a single person. The angels of the night and the angels of the day are assembled at the time of the Fajr (Morning) prayer.” Abu Huraira added, “If you wish, you can recite:– ‘Verily! The recitation of the Qur’an in the early dawn (Morning prayer) is ever witnessed (attended by the angels of the day and the night).’ (17.78) (Book #60, Hadith #241)

Allah says: (He increases in creation what He wills) (Sûrat Fâtir-verse1) when we look around us we see the greatness of God also when we see His creatures we have to say Glory to Allah!!….

The height of the tallest tree in the world is 112meter; it is in the forests of California in the United States of America.

Scientists believe that age of this tree is more than one thousand year, the diameter of its trunk is more than three meters, and it looks like a building consisting of 37 floors.

But someone may say, where is the miracle in that creature? Here we have to ask a question, how can the water reach the height of 112 meter? What kind of pumps this tree is using? And from where does that tree get the needed energy to feed itself for more than 1000 year?

Allah almighty put the suitable methods to keep life of that tree and life of all creatures. He almighty put a very simple rule as without that rule all plants would die, that is the Surface tension of water. Water has a Tensile strength and it is able to climb through plant vessel to reach the top of the tree. There is another way to feed that tree by water which is withdrawing water from the air!

Allah almighty is the one who guaranteed the livelihood for His creatures and He had subjected all the methods to keep them alive. So, can Allah almighty forget a man who is asking and supplicating to Him? God says: (And so many a moving (living) creature carries not its own provision! Allah provides for it and for you. And He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower.) (Sûrat Al-‘Ankabût- verse60).

Bismillaahir-Rahmaanir-Raheem The Companions of our Prophet Muhammed (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa salaam)

Bismillaahir-Rahmaanir-Raheem

The Companions of our Prophet Muhammed (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa salaam) used to gather to remember death so that they would benefit their souls by increasing in fear of Allaah and strive to gain His pleasure. If this was the case of the Sahaabah and they were the best of generations, the most pious and God-fearing of this ummah, then what about us? Surely, it means that we need to engage in the remembrance of Allaah – The Most Perfect, The Most High – even more. After all, we are in far more need of this act of worship than they were.

Let us begin at the end of a man’s life, in his last moments. He is lying on his death bed and his family are at his side. His father is calling for the doctor. His wife asks him: “To whom are you leaving us?”. The man’s little daughter asks him, “Why do you not answer me?”, and his small boy cries but nobody responds to him. This is the situation Allaah, The Most High and The Most High, has informed us about:

“Nay, when the soul reaches the throat, and it is said: “Who will cure him now?”. The dying person concludes that this is the time for departing. The leg joins the other leg.” [Al-Qiyaamah: 26-29]

They place him in his shroud, his leg joins his other leg. Then he is carried upon the shoulders and taken to a dark hole. If he was a transgressing criminal he cries out: “Woe to it! Where are you taking it?

“The drive that day will be to your Lord” [Al-Qiyaamah: 30]

Then he is lowered into this ditch and dirt is thrown upon him until he is sealed in it. If he was a criminal, Allaah – The Most Perfect and The Most High – says:

“So he neither believed nor did he pray. Rather he belied and turned away.” [Al-Qiyaamah: 31-32]

This transgressor will remain in his grave alone, there will be no-one to sit with him and no-one to keep him company. He will feel the heat of the fire, smell its foul odour, and be tortured therein. This man’s grave will sqeeze in upon him so much so that the bones of his rib cage will cross each other. Despite all this punishment and all this torture and pain, he will hope that the hour will never be established. For this man knows that the hour is far worse and of he will be in greater loss on that Day.

The man hears ‘As-Saakhah’ from within his grave, and what is ‘As-Saakhah’? It is the second blowing of the trumpet. This is when all that is in the graves shall be raised and ressurrected. So the criminal will cry:

“Woe to us, who has woken us from our resting place?” It will be said: “This is what the Ever-Merciful promised and the messengers where truthful.” [Yasin: 52]

The earth will be torn away from above him. This man will see the heavens being cleft assunder, the stars falling and being scattered, the oceans in their greatness bursting forth, burning, the graves will at that time bring forth their contents.

“Every person shall know what he has sent forth of good and bad deeds at that moment.” [Al-Infitaar: 1-5]

Then he will raised up and driven to the crowding place: ‘Al-Mahshar’.

“That day, the mother who is nursing her child will become careless of it, the mother who is carrying her child will drop her load. That day, mankind will appear as if they are drunk yet they they are not drunk. Indeed the punishment of your Lord is great.” [Al-Hajj 1-2]

The mother will come to her son and say: “Oh my son, my breast was a container for you, my womb was a container for you. Oh my son I seek from you a hasanah (merit) that I may approach Allaah with. My son, do not be greedy towards me”. In the world this son would have sacrificed his life, rather many lives for merely the happiness of his mother so how does he treat her now? He responds to her plea: “Get away from me! Leave me! Indeed I am in need of this merit more than you.”

“So when ‘As-Saakhah’ comes. That day a man will flee from his brother, from his mother and his father, from his wife and his children. That day every man shall have enough to make him careless of others.” [Al-Abasa: 33-37]

So mankind will wait in this crowding place for 50,000 years, after which Allaah, The Most Perfect and The Most High, will come to judge them. So He will call the criminal and say to him, “Oh so and so, did I not give you of the cold water to drink? Did I not give you a healthy body? Did I not give you many bounties? What have you done with all that which I bestowed upon you?” So the man replies, “I have done nothing my Lord.”

So he lies to his Lord on that day. Allaah says: “Where are the witnesses!”. So the Angels come and bear witness that this criminal did not pray in those moments of prayer, he drank, fornicated, lied, cursed and insulted. He turned away from belief and was proud and arrogant. So the criminal says to his Lord, “I do not accept accept a wintness except one from myself.” His Lord replies to him, “And you have that?”

“The day when we shall seal their mouths, there hands will speak to us and their legs will bear witness to that which they used to earn.” [Yasin: 65]

So he turns to his skin and says to it: it was only for you that I was arguing.

“Nay, when the earth is shaken a true shaking and your Lord comes with the Angels in rows. That day the Fire will be brought near. That day man will remember but how will that remembrance avail him? He will say, ‘Woe to me! Would that I had put forth something for this life.’ “ [Al-Fajr: 21-24]

This man then remembers. This criminal remembers that when he heard the call for prayer and he did not respond to it. He remembers when he woke and the sun had already risen yet he had not prayed al-fajr. This man remembers when he abused this one, when he slandered that one, when he earned that unlawful wealth, when he struck this one and killed that one. This criminal remembers every sin with which he disobeyed Allaah with. That day all his remorse and regret amounts to nothing. Then Allaah will say, “Sieze him and fetter him. Then throw him into the blazing fire. Then put a chain which is 70 cubits long through him. Indeed he did not used to believe in Allaah, The Most Perfect, The Most High.”

The Angels will then drag him upon his face into the fire. As he enters it he will see his friends from the world already present.

“Every time a nation enters it curses it sister nation.” [Al-a'araaf: 38].

So he is greeted with curses and given a wretched abode in which to abide. The fire encompasses him from all sides roasting, burning his skin completely,

“Whenever their skins have been done (burnt away) we replace them with new skins so that they may taste of the punishment.” [an-Nisaa: 56].

Their food in the fire is Ad-Daree’ (a thorny plant).

“No food will they have except Ad-Daree’. It neither nourishes nor removes hunger.” [Al-Ghaashiyah: 6-7]

When they eat it they choke due to the thorns. So when they are choking they ask to be rescued with water, so they are rescued with an intensly boiling water which grills their faces when they appoach it. When they drink from the water, due to its heat, it cuts their intestines and causes them an increased pain. They eat from Az-Zaquum. They eat a bitter fruit which cannot be tasted.

“Indeed the tree of Zaquum will be the food of the sinners. Like boiling oil, it will boil in the belies, like the boiling of scalding water. It will be said : Drag, sieze him and drag him into the midst of the blazing fire. Then pour upon his head the torment of boiling water. Taste! You were pretending to be the Mighty the Generous.” [ad-Dukhaan: 43-49]

Due to this intense pain, suffering and anguish they are experiencing they call upon the guardian of hell-fire,

“They call, Oh Maalik let your Lord destroy us” After many years he responds to them with two words “You are staying.” [43:77].

After all of this, they have one last chance and they call upon their Lord, “Oh our Lord we were indeed astray! Oh our Lord we were indeed misguided, we did fall short. Return us to the world so that we can do good instead of that which we used to do.”

Allaah replies to them, “Rot in it and do not speak to me. After this they do not speak nor do they utter.”

They are then called from afar, “Oh dwellers of the fire, do you know what this is?” They reply, “Yes that is death in the form of a ram.” Death is then slaughtered in a place between Al-Jannah an An-Naar. It is said to the dwellers of the fire, ever-lasting life without death.

As for the other group, the ones who obeyed their Lord in this world, let us describe briefly their fate:

When he is placed into his grave it is widened and made spacious for him. He smells the sweet fragrance of Al-jannah and feels some of its comforts. He sleeps in his grave like a bride on her wedding night who no-one shall awaken except her beloved. When the cry comes he is gathered to the crowding place and waits there for 50,000 years. This time passes as if it were the time between Zohar and Asr. Then the Lord of the worlds comes to make judgement, so He calls His slave saying, “Oh my slave, do you not remember that sin, do you not remember this sin.” So the slave replies, “My Lord I have perished!” So Allaah replies to him, “I hid it in the world for you and this day I forgive it.” This good man is handed his book in his right hand. Due to his happiness he runs to the people and says “Take it; read my book. Indeed I used to think I would meet my accounting.”

“So he will be in a content life.” [Al-Haaqah: 19-21]

Then he will be crowded from a group of al-jannah. The Jannah has eight gates and between each gate is a distance that would take 40 years to traverse. There comes a day when the gates are crowded. So as this slave of Allaah enters Al-Jannah he is greeted with salaam (peace). He sees before him 4 rivers:

“… In it are rivers of water, the taste and smell of which are not changed. Rivers of milk of which the taste never changes, rivers of wine delicious to those wo drink and rivers of clear and pure honey …” [Muhammad: 15]

He has therein a house and he knows this house as he knows his dwelling in this life. His house is made from bricks of gold and silver. In it he has wives from the Hoorul-’een.

“And Hooron ‘een, like untouched, unseen, precious pearls. A reward for what they used to do.” [Al-Waaqiah: 22-24]

“Indeed we have created them a special creation, made them virgins, loving only their husbands of equal age.” [al-Waaqiah: 35-37]

Every time they cohabit with their husbands they return to being virgins. Outside this house he has a tent, in it he has wives. When he goes to one of them, the other does not see him.

In Al-Jannaah the righteous slave has everything he desires, wishes and wants. He neither feels extreme heat nor the bitter cold:

“They will see there neither the excessive heat of the sun nor the bitter cold.” [Al-Insaan: 13].

There is not a tree in Al-Jannaah except its trunk is made of gold. When he requires its fruit he does not need to get up from his place, since it comes to him:

“The bunches of fruit thereof hang low, within reach.” [al-Insaan: 14].

“They are served by youthful boys who never age. If you were to see them you would think them scattered pearls.” [al-Insaan: 19]

So he resides therein, tranquil and at ease. No pain, no ill feeling and no foul speech. Life without death, lasting with no end.

These are not mere stories that we tell to amuse ourselves or scare one another, rather they are the destinies of the ones who obey Allaah and those who disobey. Allaah calls His slaves to repentance many times in every day so avail these opportunities. Repentance has only three conditions, that you be sincere to Allaah, that you leave the sin and that you make a firm resolve that you never return to the sin.

So be the children of the Hereafter and not the children of this life; a party in Paradise and a party in the Hell-fire.

The undermentioned incident is narrated by Hadhrat Abdullah bin Mubarak
(RA). He was a man of great learning and he lived in the era of the
Abbasids. This incident reflects the love and attachment with the Noble
Quran. It also Manifestates the comprehensiveness of the Noble Quran.

An elderly Arab lady was sitting at the trunk of a tree, on the way to
Haj. Hadhrat Abdullah bin Mubarak (RA) happened to pass that way. He was
also heading for Baitullah, for Hajj, and to the Sacred tomb of the Holy
Prophet (saw). Seeing this lady very disturbed
and in a state of despair, (distressed) he spoke to her. The discussion
is recorded as follows:

Hadhrat Abdullah bin Mubarak (RA): Assalamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullah

The lady: “The word from a merciful Lord is Peace” (Surah 36 Aayat 58).
She meant that the reply of salaam is from Allah, Most High, Himself.
She said further: “Those whom Allah sendeth astray, there is no guide
for them.” (Surah 7 Aayat 186). She meant that she has lost her way.

Hadhrat Abdullah bin Mubarak (RA): Where are you coming from?

The lady: “Glorified be He who carried His servant by night from the
Musjid-e-Aqsa (invioble place of worship) to the Musjid-e-Haraam” (Far
distant place of worship) (Surah17 Aayat1). She meant that she had come
from Musjid-e-Aqsa.

Hadhrat Abdullah bin Mubarak (RA): How long are you in this place?

The lady: “For three nights” (Surah 19 Aayat10).

Hadhrat Abdullah bin Mubarak (RA): What arrangements are made for your
food?

The lady: “And who (Allah) feedeth me and watereth me” (Surah 26 Aayat
79). She meant that somehow or the other, her food is provided to her by
Allah.

Hadhrat Abdullah bin Mubarak (RA): Is there any water for Wudhu?

The lady: “And ye find not water, then go to high clean soil and (make
tayammum) rub your faces and hands.” (therewith) (Surah 4 Aayat 43). She
meant that she makes tayammum, due to not finding water.

Hadhrat Abdullah bin Mubarak (RA): Here is some food. Partake of it.

The lady: “Strictly observe the fast till nightfall” (Surah 2 Aayat
187). She indicated that she is fasting.

Hadhrat Abdullah bin Mubarak (RA): This is not the month of Ramadaan.

The lady: “And he who does good of his own accord (for him) lo! Allah is
responsive, aware”. (Surah 2 Aayat158) meaning that I have observed an
optional (nafl) fast.

Hadhrat Abdullah bin Mubarak (RA): It is permitted to break the fast
when in a journey.

The lady: “And that ye fast is better for you, if you did but know.”
(Surah 2 Aayat 184)

Hadhrat Abdullah bin Mubarak (RA): Speak like how I speak.

The lady: “He (man) uttereth no word but there is with him an observer
ready” (Surah 50 Aayat 18). She meant that since every word of a person
is observed and recorded, she is taking precaution by speaking only in
the words of the Holy Quran.

Hadhrat Abdullah bin Mubarak (RA): Which clan do you belong to?

The lady: “Follow not that whereof thou hast no knowledge, lo! The
hearing and the sight and heart of each of these it will be asked”
(Surah 17 Aayat36). She meant those things that you have no knowledge
of, nor do they concern you, you are wasting your strength (senses) by
enquiring about them.

Hadhrat Abdullah bin Mubarak (RA): Forgive me. I have certainly made a
mistake.

The lady: “Have no fear this day. May Allah forgive you” (Surah 12 Aayat
92)

Hadhrat Abdullah bin Mubarak (RA): Would you like to travel on my camel
and meet your caravan?

The lady: “And whatsoever good ye do Allah knoweth it” (Surah 2 Aayat
197). Meaning that if you will do this good deeds towards me, Allah will
recompense you for it.

Hadhrat Abdullah bin Mubarak (RA): Well, then you may mount it.
Saying this he made the camel to sit down.

The lady: “Tell the believing men (when confronted by women) to lower
their gaze”. (Surah 24 Aayat 30). Hadhrat Abdullah understood and
(turned) looked away. While she was	mounting, the camel jerked and her
clothes got estrangled in the saddle (dorsers) and she proclaimed:
“whatever of misfortune striketh you, it is what your hands have
earned.” (Surah 42 Aayat 30). In other words she was drawing Hadhrat
Abdullah bin Mubarak’s (RA)	attention towards this mishap.

Hadhrat Abdullah bin Mubarak (RA) understood and he tied the legs of the
camel and he straightened the straps of the saddle (or dorser). She
applauded him for his proficiency and capability by saying “And we made
Sulaiman to understand” (Surah 21 Aayat 79). When the journey was about
to begin, the lady recited the Aayats which are read when undertaking a
journey “Glorified be he who hath subdued these unto us, and we were not
capable (of subduing them). And lo, unto our Lord we are returning.”
(Surah 43 Aayat 13).
Hadhrat Abdullh bin Mubarak (RA) held the bridle (or nose string) of the
camel. He began to hum the (Huddi) famous Arabic song for travelling,
and he started walking very fast.

The lady: “Be modest in thy bearing and subdue thy voice” (Surah 31
Aayat 19). Hadhrat Abdullah bin Mubarak (RA) understood. He began
walking slower and he lowered his voice.
The lady: “Recite of the Quran that which is easy for you.” She meant
that instead of humming the Huddi, he should rather recite the Holy
Quran.

Hadhrat Abdullah bin Mubarak (RA) began reciting the Holy Quran.

The lady became very pleased and said “but none remember (accept advice)
except men of understanding” (Surah 2 Aayat 269).

After reciting the Holy Quran for a while, Hadhrat Abdullah bin Mubarak
(RA) asked (the lady if she had a husband) (if he was alive) “O Aunt,
have have you a husband? (meaning is he living)

The lady: “O you who believe, ask not of things which if they were made
known unto you, would trouble you” (Surah 5 Aayat 101). She meant that
no questions should be asked regarding this matter which indicated that
her husband has most probably passed away. Finally they (caught up) met
the caravan.

Hadhrat Abdullah bin Mubarak (RA): Do you have any son or relative
(friend) in this caravan who has connection (contact) with you?

The lady: “Wealth and children are an ornament of life of the world”
(Surah 18 Aayat 46). She meant that her sons were with this caravan and
he has provisions with him.

Hadhrat Abdullah bin Mubarak (RA): What work are your sons doing for the
caravan? (Hadhrat Abdullah’s object for asking was to make it easy for
him to recognise her son).

The lady: “And landmarks, and by the star they find a way” (Surah 16
Aayat 16). She meant that he is a guide for the caravan.

Hadhrat Abdullah bin Mubarak (RA): Can you tell me their name?

The lady: “Allah chose Ibrahim as (for) a friend” (Surah 4 Aayat 125).
And Allah spoke directly unto Moosa” (Surah 19 Aayat 12). By reciting
these Aayats the lady informed him that her sons names were Yahya,
Ibrahim and Moosa.

Hadhrat Abdullah bin Mubarak (RA) called out these names in the caravan
and immediately three young people came forward.

The lady: (addressing her children) “Now send one of you with this your
silver coin unto the city. And let him see what food is purest there and
bring you a supply thereof” (Sura 18 Aayat 19) In other words she
instructed them to feed Hadhrat Abdullah (RA).

When the food was brought, she told Hadhrat Abdullah bin Mubarak (RA):
“Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in the past
days.” (Surah 69 Aayat 24), and with this Aayat she recited another
Aayat, the object of which was to convey (show) her gratefulness to him
for his good conduct and courtesy. The Aayat was: “Is the reward of
goodness aught save goodness?” (Surah 55 Aayat 60).

Their conversation terminated on this Aayat. The lady’s son informed
Hadhrat Abdullah bin Mubarak (RA) that his mother has been speaking in
this manner, i.e. using only the Aayats of the Holy Quran in her speech,
for the last forty years.

AL-BA‘ITH-The Resurrector

How can you reject Allah, when you were dead and then He gave you life, then He will make you die and then give you life again , and then you will be returned to Him? ( Surat al-Baqara, 2:28)

All people who have or will ever live are mortal. Everyone dies and is buried. Despite this obvious fact, however, most people avoid thinking about death and their subsequent resurrection. The Qur’an describes their situation, as follows:

They will ask: “Are we to be restored to how we were when we have become perished, worm-eaten bones?” ( Surat an-Nazi‘at, 79:10-11)

The Qur’an provides the most explicit answer to this popular delusion by proclaiming:

He makes likenesses of Us and forgets his own creation, asking: “Who will give life to bones when they are decayed?” Say: “He Who made them in the first place will bring them back to life. He has total knowledge of each created thing.” (Surah Ya Sin, 36:78-79)

As these verses indicate, Allah created humanity and granted different qualities to everyone. Indeed, down to his or her fingerprints, each person has unique characteristics. As our Creator, He can re-create each person in the very same manner as many times as He wills. Allah displays this coming resurrection each autumn, when nature begins to “die” and then actually experience a type of “death” during winter. Yet when spring comes, we see dry branches blossoming, nature being revived and becoming green all over. Furthermore, this “resurrection” has been happening without any interruption since time began. For Allah, resurrecting each person is as easy as this. The parallel features of these two resurrections are stated in several verses, as follows:

He brings forth the living from the dead and the dead from the living, and brings Earth to life after it was dead. In the same way, you too will be brought forth. ( Surat ar-Rum, 30:19)

So look at the effect of Allah’s mercy, how He brings the dead Earth back to life. Truly, He is the One Who brings the dead to life. He has power over all things. ( Surat ar-Rum, 30:50)

Another meaning of the beautiful name Al-Ba‘ith is “sending out Prophets.” Allah sent Messengers to warn their people and bring good news in order to call them to the right path. He revealed books to some of his Messengers so that they could bring people out of the darkness of ignorance and into the light of true knowledge. No doubt, this is a great blessing of Allah to His servants. In the Qur’an, Allah relates that:

Mankind was a single community. Then Allah sent out Prophets bringing good news and giving warning, and with them He sent down the Book with truth to decide between people regarding their differences. ( Surat al-Baqara, 2:213)

Allah showed great kindness to the believers when He sent a Messenger to them from among themselves to recite His Signs to them and to purify and teach them the Book and Wisdom, even though before that they were clearly misguided. (Surah Al ‘Imran, 3:164)
