Hoje foi um dia bem corrido e alguns carros diferentes aqui, consegui registrar somente a noite mesmo, foi difícil mas ficou mais ou menos, esse ano chega meu flash, ai as coisas melhoram.

Paradiso 1550DD da Brasil Sul com Mercedes O500RSD, detalhe curioso que para fazer o transfer desses carros a Brasil Sul, levanta o último eixo afim de fazer economia, fica esquisito.

Nel suo spettacolo Giuliano Turone, da buon giocoliere delle lingue e dei dialetti, si diverte con i suoni che vengono articolati dalla glottide e dalle corde vocali, saltellando da un idioma all’altro in una presentazione inconsueta dei versi del sommo poeta Dante Alighieri.

Ne viene fuori una fantasmagoria teatrale scoppiettante e multilingue, tutta giocata sulle prime terzine della Divina Commedia (“Nel mezzo del cammin di nostra vita…”) che il pubblico potrà ascoltare nella lingua di Dante e poi nell’inglese di un compassato ecclesiastico britannico ottocentesco, in quello di un brillante accademico americano di oggi, nello spagnolo sussiegoso di un elegante poeta castigliano e in quello quasi cantato di un prestigioso intellettuale argentino, e poi ancora in francese, in tedesco, in russo e in varie altre lingue, nonché nella divertente sonorità di alcuni dialetti italiani tra i più suggestivi.

Il tutto inframmezzato e contestualizzato da affabulazioni esplicative in forma di battute, gag surreali e curiosità storico-linguistiche di vario genere, sempre a cavallo tra il serio e il faceto o – se si vuole – a metà strada fra un intrattenimento giocoso e una spaventosa erudizione.

Dois momentos, um antes de jantar no sábado, esse Marcopolo Paradiso 1550LD com Scania K380 e na foto embaixo um Paradiso DD com quase certeza Scania K113TLB, após uma balada das boas aqui em Curitiba. Estava com a digital e não o celular, então a imagem é outra coisa.

Singer/songwriter Paolo Nutini (1987) has a voice which doesn’t rhyme with his age, 22 years. Breathtaking performances full of soul with raw elements on the friday concert in Paradiso. Composed mostly by the young guy himself, in all genres he likes. NO bounderies… i like that, no, I LOVE that!! It’s from folk to jazzy, from pop to rock that has a breath of Fleetwood Mac, Cat Stevens and even Simon and Garfunkel a bit… but always original and not copying. Also a whole lotta soul that you only could compare with the strength of Otis Redding. Songs from both his albums and three new songs …they were all fun to listen to and more than enjoying to watch with his true performing religion on stage! What a great talent. In nothing a star, in everything a pure artist… . He’s a half Scottish, half Italian (nowhere arrogance here) small boy Nutini, who is a musician and performer without an attitude, just GOOD and a lot of feel good and heartbreak songs with sometimes a great singalong line…and soul with a capital S. One of my best concerts this year!

With highlights like No other way, Jenny don’t be hasty, Loving You, Last Request, the opening song 10/10 that’s a brilliant vibrant reggea tune, which is so totally different than Growing up beside You or the terribly funny (but not my favourite) Pencil full of lead and intimate Tricks of the trade… he brews it into a melting pot that seems so natural that you love all the styles at the end of the concert! It’s a remarkable show, no special effects, no fuss, but so beautiful that i know that  John Martyn and Otis Redding have a brother here on earth, his name is paolo Nutini. And that his music is not  to be caught in just one cage, doesn’t mean that it isn’t SOUL. a 19 (GREAT SONGS AND PERFORMANCE!) out of 21 (total performances) score in paradiso!!

PS let’s not forget the opening act ROBERT FRANCIS!!! He played a very good set (twice…), with one of my favourites Dakota, Do what i can and the very good song for a single (which should mean the Breakthrough to a bigger aufdience for him) One by One… A smashing pop song, in a quality which Oasis doesn’t make them anymore…

His fisrt performance downstairs in paradiso was good, but his act and show after 11 PM was even better upstairs in the small venue from paradiso! so checked him out too, and glad Juul and i did that, great energy, great songs and a vvoice that’s sometimes like no other and the next song you hear sparks from Leonard Cohen, Radiohead, and even Rufus Wainwright sometimes!! A double Whammy for us in Paradiso.

And… singers that like animals… are better humans!

Geweldig nieuws voor alle fans van Joss Stone! Kaarten voor haar aanstaande concerten in Paradiso Amsterdam en Oosterpoort Groningen vindt u hier!

Vandaag is de mixtape van de Grote Prijs in de categorie HipHop gereleased. Je hoort tracks van alle finalisten. Een goede kans om een beeld te krijgen van wie er nou in de finale zit als je de acts nog niet kende. Op 12 december kan je de rappers live checken tijdens de finale van de Grote Prijs van Nederland. Het evenement vind plaats in de Paradiso te Amsterdam ,entree is 13,- euro inclusief lidmaatschap. Er is ook nog een afterparty in de Paradiso waar de winnaars van vorige jaar, M.O. & Brakko , op zullen treden.

Un pensionato pubblico muore, si presenta alle porte del Paradiso e dice a San Pietro:

Estava de folga pelo centro quando vi um MB O-500 da Putinga mas não deu pra tirar uma foto porque tinha carros na frente, depois em outro ponto acabei registrando esse Paradiso 1550LD da Putinga, de Encantado no Rio Grande do Sul. Não é a primeira vez que dei sorte em ver um carro dessa empresa naum, olha aqui um JB400 tirado com uma camera digital. Se eu fosse rico passava o dia em busca dessas raridades, mas final de ano esta chegando, rodoviária promete.

…strikes again.

Recently spent a long weekend in Amsterdam, focal point of which was taking in a screening at the Paradiso of Eisenstein’s Que Viva Mexico with live score performed by Nine Rain, made all the more special by it taking place in conjunction with celebrations for the Mexican Day Of The Dead.

was decked out for the evening with large skull mobiles hanging from the ceiling and an impressively adorned altar to Eisenstein front and centre below the stage.

A crowd of maybe around 300 gathered for the show, which began with two dancers ritually invoking the spirits.

And then the film – I’d not seen it before, and it’s a film with a ‘difficult’ past, probably best served over more than one viewing. Initially, the old city symphonies (Berlin: Symphony of a Great City – Man With A Movie Camera etc…) sprang to mind, and I wonder whether Eisenstein was perhaps intent on crafting a kind of  ‘country symphony’.

Nine Rain’s musical accompaniment provided a thought-provoking additional ‘layer’ of meaning, with some sections evoking the onscreen action and others acting as counterpoint. There were even a couple of passages of intentional silence to ponder. That the ’soundtrack’ didn’t end with the film points towards something else going on, a combined work in which vision and sound intentionally meet tangentially, creating an event that’s part film screening, part concert.  All extremely enjoyable, despite the occasions where the live sound mix briefly seemed to briefly ‘lose’ voice or instruments.

Was good to hang out with Isabelle, Steven, Alejandro, Jocelyne, Willem, Marianne and Greta in the bar of the Backstage Hotel (where the band were staying) afterwards, although the 4am finish effectively meant that I spent most of the following day in a bit of a stupor, rising late to bike around town with Jocelyn and picking up a DVD copy of Que Viva Mexico at a small film buff store we chanced upon.

We ended up, perhaps appropriately, having a leisurely dinner in Rose’s Cantina.

Sad to have missed a hastily organised ‘jam’ session at the Illuseum on Tuesday evening – I did try to rearrange my return flight, but discovered that my ticket type wouldn’t allow it, and a new single flight would set me back over £300. Ouch.  So I’ll have to make do with the two tantalising snippets that have appeared on YouTube, dammit.

And the curse?

According to Steven, every time Nine Rain play, it rains.  It certainly did when I caught the band at the Illuseum last year, and there was to be no exception this year. I got soaked through twice in the space of three days, though my decision to cycle everywhere probably didn’t help.

The Good:

The Hotel has taken me back like the bastard step-child* who keeps trying to run away (this is the 3rd time that they’ve taken me back).  So I’m there fulltime as of the beginning of December.  They asked that I at least commit to 6 months there and then we can see if we’re a good fit.  Sounds fair to me!  It’s a lovely place to work, and all of the people are fantastic, so I know it’s going to be a good 6 months (maybe, hopefully, possibly more?).

(*I can say that because I am a step-child.  Several times over in fact.  It’s not as bad as some might think.  Who needs one father WHEN YOU CAN HAVE THREE?)

Also The Good:

The Passion Pit concert that was delayed waaaaaay back in June was rescheduled for this past Wednesday at Paradiso.  I went with Ms Trouble Herself, Alexandra.  Because this concert was originally scheduled for the day I returned from Glasgow, and because all during my trip I listened mostly to Passion Pit, it was a great reminder of that trip and what good it had done for my heart and soul.  More on the concert in another post.

Also The Good:

I spent yesterday meeting new friends and drinking hot beverages by roaring fireplaces with already friends.  And in between that I even worked a little bit!  And it all gave me such a warm fuzzy feeling, and made me realize where the balance of life should lay.

Life should be a very small percentage of working for the paycheck, and a very large, overwhelming percentage of cultivating these friendships that give me so much energy and happiness.  DO YOU HEAR THAT POTENTIAL FUTURE EMPLOYERS?  I’d much rather be hanging out with new and old friends than doing your dirty work!  PUT THAT IN YOUR PIPE AND SMOKE IT.

The Bad

The Post-Apocolypic Hangover from the concert.  YOWZA.  Nothing like a 24 hour hangover to set your priorities straight again.

Also?  29 years old is WAAAAYY too old to stand next to the speaker. Please speak into my right ear only.

The Ugly

La messa è stata celebrata davanti alla sede della fondazione Cuore Immacolato di Maria, struttura voluta da Natuzza Evolo.

“Mi avete chiesto se Natuzza sarà Santa subito. Ebbene il vostro lungo applauso all’arrivo del feretro è una prima risposta. Lei è già santa perché è in Paradiso. L’istruttoria per il processo di beatificazione è un problema solamente nostro che seguiremo secondo le procedure e senza fretta. E poi più volte mi avete chiesto la posizione della chiesa rispetto alla figura di Natuzza. Ebbene a quest’ultima domanda si può rispondere con la presenza della delegazione dei vescovi calabresi che sta partecipando a questo funerale” ha detto il vescovo Luigi Renzo. Alla messa funebre erano presenti molti esponenti militari dell’Arma Dei Carabinieri, della Guardia Di Finanza, e Polizia Di Stato, tutti vestiti in Alta Uniforme. “Tante volte Natuzza ha accolto molti di noi, oggi siamo stati noi ad accoglierla con un applauso” dice il vescovo di Mileto all’arrivo del feretro di Natuzza, “facciamo festa, perchè Natuzza ora e tra i santi del paradiso”.

Nacque a Paravati, una frazione del comune di Mileto, antica città della Calabria, dove Ruggero il normanno aveva stabilito la capitale della sua contea e la prima diocesi di rito latino dell’Italia meridionale. Il padre, Fortunato, qualche mese prima che lei nascesse, nella speranza di poter aiutare la famiglia, era emigrato in Argentina, da dove non tornò mai più. La madre, Maria Angela Valente, rimasta sola con una numerosa famiglia da accudire, si adattò ai lavori più umili per sfamare la famiglia. Natuzza (un diminutivo di Fortunata molto diffuso in Calabria) cercò di aiutarla accudendo gli altri fratelli, non potendo frequentare regolarmente la scuola e restando quindi con un livello di istruzione molto limitato, quasi analfabeta. Sposata con un falegname e avendo cinque figli, ha avuto una vita caratterizzata sin dall’infanzia da episodi paranormali, quali presunte apparizioni e colloqui con Gesù Cristo, la Madonna, angeli, santi e defunti, la comparsa di stimmate ed effusioni ematiche accompagnate da stati di sofferenza durante il periodo pasquale, momenti di estasi; testimonianze le attribuiscono anche il “dono dell’illuminazione diagnostica“. Per decine di anni ha ricevuto presso la sua abitazione migliaia di persone provenienti da tutto il mondo per incontrarla, principalmente nella speranza di avere notizie dall’aldilà dai propri defunti o indicazioni sulle proprie malattie. Moltissimi hanno testimoniato di aver ricevuto grazie e benefici dopo la visita alla sua persona. Su sua ispirazione si è costituita nel 1987 un’associazione (poi diventata fondazione, presso cui Natuzza ha trascorso il resto della sua vita) con l’obiettivo di creare a Paravati un complesso che inglobi un santuario mariano, strutture per l’assistenza medica e centri per giovani, anziani, disabili, tra cui, già realizzati, il centro anziani “Pasquale Colloca” e quello per i servizi alla persona “San Francesco di Paola”^[. Ispirati da Natuzza e dalla sua testimonianza di fede sono sorti inoltre dal 1994 dei “Cenacoli di preghiera” e diffusi sul territorio nazionale e all’estero. Muore alle 5 di mattina del 1 novembre 2009, nel centro per anziani che lei stessa aveva fondato grazie alle offerte dei fedeli, a causa di un blocco renale.

E pelo que percebi foto por celular vai virar moda pra mim, afinal não pode ficar com digital em serviço. Essa semana consegui ver algumas novidades aqui em Curitiba, mas os carros da Santo Anjo foi surpresa, afinal ja trabalhei um tempo por lá. Esse Marcopolo 1550LD 15400, se não estou errado é um Scania K380 e estava em turismo com um pessoal de Tubarão – SC.

As novidades são assim, um Busscar Urbano a venda, esse carro era da linha Hospital Regional Via Coloninha, lugar aonde já morei. Na próxima um Scania K113 da Mister Tur vindo de Turismo trazendo pessoal para fazer vestibular em Curitiba. Depois minha primeira foto da Expresso do Sul e por fim meio no susto um foto cortada do 1450LD, Santo Anjo da Guarda, passando como um louco aqui perto de casa. Pós feriadão trabalhando na terça estarei na rodoviária vendo o movimento.

Last night, I attended the The 2^nd annual Dish It Up event benefiting the Women Against Abuse, the operator of the only emergency shelter in Philly for abused women and their children. Not only was it a successful event, but it brought another stream of hope for those who have counted on WAA, because all of the proceeds went directly to the organization. 

 Well organized and with purposely purpled décor the room was full and lively. Purple outfits paraded the scene, danceable music moved attendees to the dance floor, purple cocktails were flowing from ice-cold cocktail shakers, and wafts of purple-colored, chef created dishes perfumed the air. 

 Upon arrival we were handed the Lavender Infused Cocktail provided by Chick’s Café and Wine Bar.  This cocktail got its purple hue from a

homemade blueberry simple syrup.  Blueberries when cooked and crushed are really purple in color rather than blue.  What a great way to start the evening.  As ‘Thriller’ pumped through the speakers (appropriate for the Halloween Holiday) we made our way around the edges of the room to see what the Chefs had found to use in their purple-driven plates.  This was afterall, a competition to see who could prepare the best tasting purple-hued dish with the winner receiving The Purple Dish Award!

 Ane Ormaechea from Café apamate went for the familiar purple beet, but presented it appetizer style.  Rounds of bright purple beets poached in OJ, ginger and sherry vinegar stacked with pear, Capricho goat cheese, micro greens, applewood smoked bacon, candied Marcona almonds and a drizzle of Hazelnut vinaigrette.  For those of you who aren’t beet lovers, this little tower of flavor would sure change your mind.

 Moon Krapugthong of MangoMoon and Chabaa Thai Bistro was all smiles at the event providing us with two tastes of Thai spices.  Japanese eggplant salad with coconut milk, and a green curry beef with purple potato.  As tasty as the curry was, the green definitely was the dominate color in this dish.

 Effie’s Restaurant represented themselves appropriately with the Greek style meat pastry  Bourekas- minced beef, spices, tomato, and dark olives (which we were told when cooked, gave the meat a purple hue- okay sounds good, but really no sight of purple here) all wrapped in filo dough and served with a mustard-ketchup sauce.  These were tasty little treats, but I preferred them without the overwhelming sauce.  Sometimes simple is better.

 On to Marathon Grill.  At the M tasting table, poached salmon was served in a charming presentation with garnishes of lemon cream, pickled cabbage and beet mustard.  I loved the brightness of the purple garnishes here, and they stood out in flavor much more so than the salmon itself.

 E’punk was in the house with Lynn Marie Rinaldi owner/chef of Paradiso plating an ultra-tender, slow cooked, porchetta nestled on a scoop of pureed purple potatoes as smooth as silk ,and topped off with pickled purple cabbage that gave the dish a brightness of acidity to balance out the stick-to-your-ribs components!  What a dish, comfort in every bite!

 Le Virtu, one of my favorite restaurants in E’punk was there representin’ too, but only in flavor- not in color.  Not a dash of purple anywhere in the dish….nadda, nothing!  What happened Catherine and Luciana???  Don’t get me wrong, your Handmade lasagna in white ragu with sausage and cheese was decadent, maybe even too decadent, but purple was the most important element here….even I was WEARING purple!

 We had two celebrity Chefs in the competition, yes two! Jennifer Carroll of 10 Arts, our well-known cheftestant on Wednesday’s Top Chef, and Katie Cavuto of Healthy Bites who was a finalist on The Next Food Network Star that aired in June.  Jennifer, had the same protein base idea as Marathon, but prepared her salmon in 10 Arts fashion- upscale.  Jen poached it in red wine (which actually gave the fish a purple hue), then served it with a beet puree, tarragon beurre noir, picked red onions and beet caviar.  This was the most creative dish of them all for sure, but the fish didn’t seem to come together well with the other components, and I don’t know if it’s just me, but salmon, when not wild, has too strong of a fishy taste for my palate. An overwhelming taste that totally overpowers anything you try to use to cover it up.

Our other TV star, Katie Cavuto delivered her promise: “healthy but decadent”.  Her vegetable sauté of local and seasonal veggies joined purple Peruvian potatoes, purple cauliflower, purple beets and baby purple pearl onions, with a few carrots to break up the color monotony.  This, the healthy part, was served beside the decadent part: melt-in-your-mouth, tender balsamic braised shortribs.  “Green Cuisine” (her signature style) never tasted so good!

 Only one contestant braved into the dessert world, Delilah Winder Chef/owner of Delilah’s Southern Cuisine.  A wild blueberry and apple cobbler with fresh whipped cream.  Sweet as pie.

 So who was the winner of The Dish It Up Award? Around 8:30 it was announced that the numbers were close, very close, but there was a clear winner!  Bet you could have guessed it…..Jennifer Carroll took home the prize….surprise, surprise.  We’re hoping that she has the same luck on Top Chef! Congrats Jen- keep up the cook work!

 As you probably know, I was not one of the judges, but I will tell you my favorite dish, just in case you couldn’t tell from my reviews. Yep, Paradiso you had me at PORK!  Overall it was a really fun event.  I think everyone had a great time and it was all for a good cause- the most important element of the evening.  And don’t worry if you missed out on all the fun this year because WAA will be Dishing It Up again next year!!
