I have owed this post for quite a long time now. That doesn’t mean that I’m under pressure for writing or anything, but today I would like to introduce you to some music that surprised me when I discovered it, and I’ve been wanting to write about it since that day.

Personally, I’m lucky to be surrounded by talented friends who, in some way, devote their time and lives to music. A project that I specially appreciate, and not only because of the people involved, is Paranoia Pete. A small formation with a cozy sound, they are based in London, approaching their music in a relaxed manner, while paying attention to the very small details. With clever lyrics which aren’t at all typical or predictable, they combine sounds and harmonies in ways different from the norm. As you begin to get comfortable with the sound, soon something will catch you by surprise, whether it be a new instrument or an unexpected accidental note.

This feeling is increased when you look at the images that go with their music. A bizarre vintage atmosphere soaks everything, and when I say this, I’m thinking of their song Make it quick. This video really hit me when I came across it. Having particularly pessimistic lyrics, the mood is increased and lingers on after watching the clip. Made with footage taken from an open archive, the video shows disturbing images of psychic disorders from past times. Yes, it’s creepy, but you just can’t take your eyes of it. And no, I won’t show you how the band look, or tell you their names: I won’t unveil the mystery that shrouds this band I really appreciate. Here you have the video. Enjoy!
