Via

As parents it is our job to educate our children – not the government’s, not the school’s, not society’s – it’s OURS! A woman told my husband the other day that she didn’t like to punish her kids for bad behavior at school because the school already did. So if they took care of it, then she felt she didn’t need to. Oh wow! This is the same passive, socialist attitude that so many parents have about happily and willingly shirking their responsibility for teaching and properly rearing their children (and I can certainly add disciplining and teaching them manners, and what some might deem as proper values, as well). I am proud to say that I am not one of those parents, and I learned from the best, my parents. We were lovingly reared and taught by them.

So when I saw this book on The O’Reilly Factor on Fox News the other day, I went to the internet and looked it up. I think this girl is brilliant!

I’m headed out to get it and read it with our kids over their Fall break. We have a 14 year-old all the way down to a First grader and I’m sure they will all be able to learn something. The stuff in this book is likely not taught very much in the kids’ public schools and it’s important to my husband and me that our kids are educated. Not just that they go to school, but that they are actually educated. There’s a difference. An education implies an ability to ask questions, think outside the box, and formulate your own decisions, important things that everyone should be able to do for themselves.

I can guarantee that Juliette Turner’s parents didn’t rely on the government and public school to discipline and “educate” their daughter. Nope, you don’t get an amazing and smart kid like this from those two places. I can’t wait to read this book. Thank you Juliette!
