My match in heaven – finns den? Och i så fall, VAR? Det är några av de vanligaste frågorna jag möter som dejtingcoach. Och också viss tvekan – hjälper det verkligen med coaching, kan man verkligen dejtingcoachas till att träffa rätt partner? 

Jag inte bara tror att man kan det – jag VET att det funkar och har sett det med egna ögon. Om och om igen. Och det är därför jag också brinner för det. Att hitta rätt partner är så grundläggande, en sådan underbart bra förutsättning för att få in ännu mer lycka i våra liv, om det nu är så att vi definierat att vi vill leva med någon. Och tänk om du kan ändra ditt sätt att tänka som gör att du öppnar upp för just HONOM eller HENNE, som ju finns någonstans därute, just nu. Att få hjälpa till med det är verkligen helt underbart!

Vårt samhälle har mer och mer utvecklats till individualism och att satsa på sig själv, så det är väl inte så konstigt att det finns så många singlar. Vi ska förverkliga oss själva, har högtflygande karriärplaner och odlar många fritidsintressen , vilket inte alltid medger utrymme för en partner i våra liv. Många av oss har ju också enorma krav och “fastnar” i en drömbild av en partner som kanske inte ens är det som är det bästa och mest rätt för oss.

Du vet säkert inom dig vilken typ av person du vill träffa och vilka kvaliteter du uppskattar hos en partner, men kanske bilden inte alltid stämmer med de personer du väl väljer att träffa i verkligheten. 

Jag unnar dig verkligen att ta nästa steg mot den där personen som sitter någonstans just nu och också längtar efter den där någon.  Som skulle kunna vara du.

And I thought I’d heard everything…

Just when you thought you’d heard it all I found a link between being Single and Alzheimer’s Disease on an Arizona news site from Kyle Burke.

Thanks to Kyle for reminding us that November is National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month. Now that’s definitely something we should be helping to support – goodness knows it seems the likelihood of loads of us being afflicted with the disease is seemingly high!

 I think most of us know that Doctors say that maintaining your brain health early on could be key in preventing memory loss later in life. Jan Dougherty, Director of Family and Communication Services at Banner Alzheimer’s Institute explains: “Because Alzheimer’s often starts decades before it presents with symptoms, we should be thinking in our 30’s and 40’s about lifestyle strategies, about diet, exercise, cognitive exercise, staying engaged throughout our lives.”

The bad news as per Kyle’s report,  is a recent study found that Single people are twice as likely to develop dementia and Alzheimer’s disease as married or cohabitating people.

“We’re creatures that do better when we are in communication and living with other peoples, so there’s something about socialization that’s really important to brain health,” Dougherty said.

And just in case you’ve forgotten… some of the common symptoms of memory loss are:
- forgetting names (does this count if you couldn’t remember them in the first place?)
- forgetting recent events (not due to alcohol consumption though!)
- forgetting appointments and dates (can’t bear to meet that online date you made?)
- misplacing items / finding items in strange places – (not male are you – never put things in the same place twice do you!)
- getting lost or confused in familiar places (now I’m geographically challenged so that’s a killer for me all the time)
- having difficulty finding words or putting sentences together (again watch that alcohol consumption – definitely makes it a challenge!)
- changes in behavior or personality (of course that has nothing to do with the type of day you are having or the road rage incident that’s just happened, or the 6 Red Bulls you just consumed…)

This is not an attempt at trivialising the severe impact Alzheimer’s disease has on the sufferer as well as families and friends. It is tragic to be a part of this situation. So, if you are experiencing some of those memory loss symptoms above – and forget about my little italicized comments alongside them, do go seek some help. Same goes for if you suspect someone else may be displaying some of these symptoms, see if you can find a way to guide them to seek out help.

 But, back to the Singles of the world. We all need love, friendship, companionship, and if you can find a life partner who can offer all that and more – it could be as simple as that to ward off Alzheimers. So, all I can say is get out there, display your Single status SHI Symbol everywhere you go so you can meet loads of new and interesting men and women more easily, and if you’re inclined to look for a partner, it’ll be working for you 24/7. It’s a sure fire way to help ward off Alzheimer’s. Can’t guarantee they won’t send you demented for other reasons though!

My mind simply goes to my heart this Thanksgiving Eve.  This tradition of gathering around with our family and friends to enjoy a special meal that is prepared for the occasion, brings into my thoughts the real spirit of this holiday.

Our nation and world continues to feel the weight of a severe economic crisis, the continuing wars abroad and the fight for equality for many of us.  Yet, amidst all of this seemingly chaotic, dismal environment I have found thankfulness in my life.

I am thankful for a partner who has weathered the storms of life with me for the past 11 years and we find ourselves still growing.  Through it I have found love and found that it is not stagnant but forever growing and changing as we change.  I marvel at this continual discovery and I am grateful for him.

I am grateful for four wonderful children who weathered a divorce and a dad coming out of the closet.  Tumultuous times came upon all of us but we were able to rely on love. That pulled us through all these years and into the happiness we enjoy now.  They are the treasure of my heart.

I can not say enough about my mother and my siblings. They and their families have been anchors to me. This last year we all reunited because of the death of a sister-in-law, but out of that sadness we have become closer.  I ma thankful for them.

I am surrounded by friends across all walks of life in a sea of true diversity. I am enriched and strengthened by them.  I give them special thanks because without them I would have never been able to navigate the rough waters of life or celebrate the best moments of life.

I love my job and this life in the bay area.  It is home to me.  I am so filled with thankfulness for this place.

Thanksgiving is my song today, tomorrow and the rest of my life.

Das Deutsche Institut für Service-Qualität (DISQ) hatte im Auftrag des Nachrichtensender ntv anonym über Tester die Hersteller kontaktiert und sich beraten lassen. Bei dieser Untersuchung belegte Fujitsu in der Gesamtwertung einen sehr guten zweiten Platz.

Working women have long complained that their man doesn’t pull his weight on household chores.

But his lack of effort on the domestic front could actually be a myth created by his partner, researchers have found.

According to a major study, female breadwinners exaggerate their partner’s uselessness around the home because they feel guilty about devoting too much time to their career, and not enough to their role of wife and mother.

By nagging their man over his alleged shortcomings, women feel more feminine because they can control the traditionally female role of maintaining the home and family, experts say.

‘Working women who provide the majority of the household’s income continue to articulate themselves as the ones who “see” household messes and needs as a way to retain claim to an element of traditional female identity,’ said Dr Rebecca Meisenbach, professor of communication at Missouri University.

Dr Meisenbach questioned 15,000 American female breadwinners for the study, to be published in the journal Sex Roles this week.

Will ich Kinder?

Früher, wo ich selbst Kind war, hatte ich es für selbstverständlich gehalten, später selbst mal Kinder zu haben. Doch mit dem Alter wurden meine Ziele und Prioritätn anders und das Kinderkriegen rückte in den Hintergrund.

Zumal ich der Ansicht bin, das zum Kinderkriegen der passende Partner gehört und das er auch bleibt. Jetzt habe ich einen Partner, der gerne mit mir Kinder hätte. Das hat er mir nicht gesagt, aber ich habe es an seiner Reaktion gesehen, als ich ihm mitteilte, das ich mir eine “Altersgrenze” gesetzt habe. Diese “Altersgrenze” habe ich erreicht.

Langes Schreiben, kurzer Sinn: das Kinderkriegen ist für mich Vergangenheit. Nicht nur weil ich mich zu alt dafür empfinde und meine biologische Uhr langsam abläuft. Ich will mit meiner Partnerschaft zufrieden sein. So schön Kinder auch sein mögen, es ist für mich nicht das pure Glück. Wahrscheinlich deswegen, weil ich keine habe.

Yep, I did it again! I went on another date. This time, it was a blind date. She is a friend of a friends partner. We all (me, my friend from work, her partner, and my date) went to a comedy club last friday.

She was gorgeous!!!

I was quiet…

She has a 5 month old daughter!!!

That doesn’t bother me at all, but I didn’t tell her that…

She ordered the same drink I did!!!

But I didn’t make a single comment about it…

She got really mad about a drunk guy that kept running into me!!!

But I don’t believe in arguing with the drunk and stupid, so I didn’t make a sound…

She works in IT, like me!!!

But I didn’t ask a single question…

She later told my friend and her partner that I was very quiet!!!

And suddenly I sent off about 4 BILLION text messages to that friend about how lame I was and that she should really send the girl my person contact information!!!

And my friend sent off the information!!!!

But I haven’t heard a word…

Still single, and just realized that Elmer Fudd was talking about hunting, not dating.

[UPDATE] While I still haven’t heard from her personally, I have heard from my friend that she enjoyed the date and wishes I hadn’t been so quiet. She’s looking forward to date #2!

Which, by the way, at this point looks to be another double date in mid December. What are we doing? Going to a strip club!!!!
