Now that the cold weather is upon us I find that many couples are really getting started on their wedding planning! I attended the Rensselaer Society of Engineers formal party last night to capture portraits of the members and their dates. Everyone was sharply dressed for the occasion and looked fantastic. The event was held at The Meadows which is operated by Birch Hill.

Was für ein cooler Abend gestern. Erst gab es ein freudiges Wiedersehen mit DJ Tomekk mit dem ich vor ein paar Wochen in Los Angeles geshootet hatte. Danach ging es zusammen mit Jimi und Wilson Ochsenknecht samt Crew rüber zur Hamburger Modelnacht von Michael Ammer. Sehr entspannte und sympathische Jungs die beiden, auch wenn Wilson immer ein wenig grimmig daher schaute. An den Mädels kann es nicht gelegen haben, denn es liefen doch ein paar recht ansprechende Ladys dort umher.

Für Tomekk und meinereiner ging es dann aber noch rüber in H1 zur gut gefüllten Kontorparty. Tomekk natürlich schnurstracks in Richtung DJ Pult und von dort war er den Rest des Abends nicht mehr weg zu bekommen. Der lebt halt für Musik.

Und wieder zelebrierte Partykönig Michael Ammer mitsamt seiner Inner Circle Crew die allseits bekannte Modelnacht. Nach einem amüsanten Vorglühen im Pentahotel ging es fröhlich munter auf in die Bacio-Lounge.

Der frische Ostseewind am Rostocker Hafen ließ die Partycrowd bei Wodka und STÄNDER Drinks bis in die frühe Morgenstunden rocken, nicht zuletzt Dank der tatkräftigen Unterstützung von Axel Fuchs und seinem Team der Bacio Lounge.

Es ist mal wieder Zeit für ein Groß-Event am Pucher Meer!
Was würde näher liegen als am letzten Schultag vor den Sommerferien eine Riesenparty unter dem Motto: “Ab in den Süden” zu veranstalten?
Richtig – nichts!

Das haben die Absolventen der Realschule Maisach nun auch mehr alspassend gefeiert. Als Location diente der beliebte Squash Palast in der Buchenau.Die Stimmung hat förmlich gekocht. Feucht fröhlich war es auf jeden Fall. Als Specials gab es eine Love-Wand, mit der man flirten konnte, eine Fotowand, die für Erinnungsfotos gesorgt hat und natür durfte eine Happy-Hour auch nicht fehlen. Für die richtige Abfeiermusik sorgte DJ Florian Bauhuber. Allen Abgängern wünsche ich alles Gute für den weiteren Werdegang. Wenn Ihr so im Berufsleben werdet, wie ihr feiern könnt, dann geht es der Wirtschaft bald wieder besser.

Am Sonntag den 05.07. heißt es in Olching wieder Roll-on, denn hier geht es auf der BladeFever wieder 14km durch Olching. Die Inliner treffen sich ab 15.00 Uhr auf dem Volksfestplatz und starten dann gemeinsam die Tour. Begleitet wird der wohl größte Sportevent mit aktiven Sportlern auf dem Volksfestplatz mit einem OpenAir. So kommen nicht nur die sportlichen Besucher sonder auch Musikbegeisterte auf ihre Kosten. Dieses Jahr stehen Bands wie DonPiano, Der Jungbrunn oder
als Headliner Sorgente auf der Bühne die schon im Vorprogramm von Pink, Ich&Ich oder KidRock zu bestaunen waren. Auf dem Platz erwarten die Tourteilnehmer oder auch Besucher des OpenAir ein großer Biergarten, Essenstände und weitere Präsentationen.      Desperately trying to think of a positive subject for today’s blog and cannot push aside thoughts on the horrid  state of high schools grads.  Contemplating the future of America and it is scary.  No, not typical things such as Obama printing $1.2 TRILLION dollars or cuddling closer to terrorists, weakening our defenses or absurd fiscal policies.  NO, I’m worried about the replacements; the future of America, our recent high school graduates.  You see, one of my jobs [I've often held 2 or more, but you should get used to saying that in this economy] is moonlighting as a casino dealer for a casino party company.  Last night I worked what may  be the last of the “grad nights” for this year.  Grad nights are parties usually starting around midnight to 1 AM and lasting until around 5 or 6 AM.  The idea is to herd the grads into a secure place – amusement park or arcade we’re they’re the only guests [at 1 AM, Duh] or, as was the case last night, a small cruise ship.  The idea is to keep them isolated in a fun environment without fear of driving & drinking [they're delivered to the event by buses] or taking the prom queen to a motel or back seat and making kindergardeners!  I have done these sorts of parties for 10 years now and have witnessed a real dumbing down of America.

     Last night we were a few dealers short as the boat sailed a little earlier, combined with some changes at the port where most of the boats are being relocated [likely causing scheduled dealers to be blocks away from our dock], so I was rotating games to give dealer  breaks.  As I was dealing BlackJack [21], I wondered what was taking so many of these kids so long to decide to hit or stand.  It wasn’t like they were trying to read the small print on our basic stategy matrix cards we hand out.  As I asked one boy if he wanted a hit or not, he said, “Wait, I have to figure out what I have” followed by him counting aloud!  I chuckled and said, “I’m sorry, I thought all of you were seniors”.  They replied almost in unison they were.  “And you did graduate?”, I asked. “Yes”, again in unison.  “So, then, did you sleep through math class or didn’t they teach it at your school?”  Most giggled as if to say ‘yes, it’s funny I don’t have basic arithmetic skills’.  The boy in question protested that I did this more often and was better at it.  ???  Better at what … counting to 21 – or less?  Worse yet, was the lad who protested when I took his bet that we tied.  I had 19, he had 16.  When I asked him to count again he said I had 19, he had 19.  Really?  “8 + 2 + 4 + 2=16″, as I led him through it card by card.  A sad sack looking face finally mouthed, “oh, yeah.”  Don’t know if the sad look was for losing his play money bet … or realizing he just graduated high school and could not count.  Scary.

     The night proceeded much like that as I dealt craps and tried in vain to get these kids to understand the simplest rules and bets.  Even  trying to explain the ‘field’ bet as the all-time sucker bet ever invented and proving it mathematically, these kids would argue on the sole basis that they ‘liked the bet’. Solid logic!  Finally at Texas Hold ‘em, I saw a kid call an all-in bet with a 10-3 os on the river and he had NO pair, no straight, flush or even much hope of having high card with an Ace, Queen, Jack on the board and 3 hearts on board while he held only black cards.  I asked him why he would call such a large bet with absolutely nothing and he replied, “I was trying to bluff him”!  My efforts to explain that you cannot bluff by calling, only by raising or re-raising were lost on him.  During these events we [the dealers] are training, explaining and offering strategy most of the time, so I was examining folded hands and whispering hints to those players [Code among poker players-dealers, you never expose or reveal someones cards] to better educate.  Only 1 kid – a girl – did not have that ‘deer-in-the-headlights’ look and was picking up my tips and utilizing them.

     Finally, casino over, but cruise continuing with other entertainment, not all grads were participating, I engaged in conversation with one table of 5 grads.  I asked about current affairs, and with rare exception, they knew nothing of state of the world and this country.  Iran, Korea, card-check bill in congress, nominee for Supreme Court; perhaps 1 grad ‘heard of’ this or that subject, but could not extrapolate any details of it. A headline is all they knew.  Blame the media for not doing stories in depth?  I don’t think so – newspapers do that and most youth don’t bother reading more than the horoscope or comics.

     Really, the future of America looks bleak from my seat, but I am semi-comforted by the thought that these are California School grads and the teachers union here is so bad that they almost control the legislature and they clearly have handicapped the schools in doing their real  job of educating.  Another scary thought, considering how bad they have crippled California schools, but solace in the thought that maybe the rest of America’s schools are turning out educated grads.  Oh well, I’ll end with a quote that offers a lighter note.

Waddle On!

Febuary 20’st 2009. The puffle party begins!! For this i went out and got every puffle colour and lots of puffle items. The music is cool at the party to (well it was a bit cheesy). Silvester zu feiern ist immer so eine Sache. Mal hat man Glück, mal weniger. Dieses Jahr gehörte ich defintiv zu den glücklicheren Silvester Gängern. In Rostock wurde in der Bacio Lounge die Modelnacht als Silvesterspecial zelebriert.

Partyhoheit Michael Ammer kam mit seiner Crowd nach Rostock und feierte bis in die frühen Morgenstunden in das Jahr 2009 rein. Sänger Daniel Lopes begleitete die Party mit seinen Vocals und heizte die Stimmung noch mal richtig an. Danke auch auch an Axel Fuchs der seinen Laden immer stehts im Blick hatte.
