Nu tycker jag att jag har fått lite bättre ordning på mitt spel. Jag lyckas lägga mig oftare (kan ju vara bluffar dock) och jag är lite tightare på starthänderna. Igår kväll kämpade jag hårt men lyckades inget vidare, back tjugo buck eller så.

I morse spelade jag på topp och lyckades komma tillbaka till plus/minus noll efter att ha börjat med en riktigt bad beat på QQ mot en bluff som lyckades träffa rivern med sitt lilla ess, alla monedas på det bordet borta (vilket var 1/4 av rullen), men de resterande borden (kör 4) lyckades jag spela bättre på. Nu kom jag igång med Partypoker sent i månaden, men det verkar som om man kan få en ok cashback om man spelar regelbundet. Lyckas man då hålla sig flytande kanske man ändå kan lyckas att inte förlora alla pengarna ssnabbt

You’ve seen a lot less of me on dagblog lately, and while I’d love to put all of the blame for my absence on my Beyonce and the wedding plans which have been set in hot and heavy motion (It’s mostly painful, stressful stuff, but registering at Target was hella fun – come to Papa, Wii!!), but there is a much bigger badder beast than Mrs. All-Consuming Wedding at work here – and its name is PokerStars.

The truth of matter is, if we’re going to point fingers at anyone, Genghis is really the one to blame because it was partly due to his move to Philadelphia that our weekly NYC poker game, which has been going on regularly for more than eight years, has become very hit-and-miss, and I can’t have that. I need my cards fix.

So I decided to take the plunge and join Pokerstars, which easily earns the award for this week’s My One Favorite Thing. This isn’t the first time I played poker online – A few years ago I was on PartyPoker before that company decided to give up the U.S. market when Congress passed a law banning banks and other financial institutions from funding customer deposits.

The whole issue of the legality of online poker remains in flux, which is a complete joke considering the haphazard nature of this country’s gambling laws (yeah, state lottos and ‘riverboat’ casinos that aren’t even on the water, I’m talking to you) and considering that poker is a skill game enjoyed by millions and millions of Americans.

Indeed, poker is as American an institution as apple pie, and I’m pretty convinced now that the Democrats and card-loving Barney Frank are in charge that it’s only a matter of time before online poker becomes a fully regulated, fully taxed, fully legal activity. In the meantime, I had no qualms about rekindling my little addiction by joining Pokerstars, which along with a couple of other companies decided to take the risk and continue operating in the US.

As far as the site goes, it’s pretty good, very reminiscent of the PartyPoker look and feel. While Texas Hold ‘Em is far and away the most active game on the site, PokerStars offers up enough variety for a non-specialist like me to keep entertained, and I probably most enjoy playing Omaha Hi-Lo and 8-Game (which is eight different games that switch every 5 minutes or so).

And also like PartyPoker, I am convinced that the card distribution on PokerStars isn’t totally random – there are just way too many runner-runner flush suck outs that I see the bigger stacks hit. (This won’t make sense to you unless you know poker, but it basically means that the site’s algorithm seemingly has a mysterious way of moving games along – which if true makes the site a lot more money – by enticing people with few chips to call, only to nail them later in the hand. However, it’s possible it only seems that this happens a lot because you see so many hands playing online – I generally have three games going on at any one time).

I’m trying to keep my cardplaying to at least a reasonable minimum, but I have to admit it’s definitely eating into my blogging time, and sleeping time, and eating time. I’m just thankful we have such solid new contributors to keep the site active. I promise eventually I’ll start caring again about the real world – aside from poker and weddings that is. But right now, I have a game to get to.

The decision was made to go with PartyPoker. A friend of mine likes them and has never had any issues with payouts etc.

I decided I would start with the lowest of low No Limit tables and hopefully work my way up until I find my correct level. I’m considering this first month or two to be a training phase and I’m not really concerned with the amount of profits, just that there has to be profit.

$50US was deposited. I would be playing a lot of ring games which is my bread and butter. However I really want to play plenty of tournamounts and Sit n Go as I’m hoping this can also help my real-world game. Particularly single-table.

At this point I’m writing in past tense as I’m almost 1 month in. My findings from my first month of online poker will be in the next one.

The time has come for me to join the 21st Century. I’ve been playing Texas Hold-em Poker regularly for about 10 years.

A little background.
I started out like most playing semi-regularly with friends for a few bucks. This resulted in a monthly home game with a 10 player table. This game still exists today and is made up from the same core group of around 20 people. The buy-in has grown considerably and a good record at this game can make for some pretty handy spending money.

So the first few years were just these home games and the occasional tourney held at sporting clubs. Nothing like winning a meat tray and a box of beer after a couple of hours of poker.

A few years back my local casino added Hold-em to their roster. Since then I’ve been playing there 1 or 2 nights a week. Entering a tournament once in a while. While I’m certainly no professional I make some pretty handy pocket money from this. The drunks on a Friday and Saturday night usually make for easy pickings.

Always being somewhat of a purist, I’ve resisted the temptation of on-line poker. It  seemed so mechanical and robs a good player of many weapons from their arsenal. Physical appearance, a very deliberate barely visible grimace on the flop etc. I’ve always relied on my reads to get me by and consider it a major strength of my game.

After several conversation with a couple of other regulars from my casino I’ve been convinced. They are making good money on line and think I’m mad for not doing the same. So about a month ago I did it. Signed up with my fresh account and was ready to battle it out with other avatars from across the globe.

Stella McCartney logoen synes jeg har truffet spikeren på hodet. Den er moderne og har noe high-end og eksklusivt over seg. Hun har også klart å forbinde en farge med merkevaren.

WWF logoen er lett gjenkjennelig og spiller på det emosjonelle.

Facebook har en gjennomført enkelthet og fargebruk som gjør at man etterhvert kjenner igjen logoen selv om det meste av den er dekket til. Det må jo sies å være suksess.

Skandiabanken logoen ble skiftet for ikke så alt for lenge siden, så jeg tok med den gamle og den nye. Jeg må si jeg synes den gamle gir en større trygghetsfølelse og en følelse av noe seriøst, som jo en bank skal være. Det blå i figuren og den tradisjonelle fonten gir meg disse assosiasjonene. Jeg får ikke den samme trygghetsfølelsen med den nye logoen som kan sies å være mer moderne. Det moderne kan virke mindre trygt enn det tradisjonelle. Fargene gir heller ikke de riktige assosiasjonene.

Sol.no sin logo har jeg alltid stusset over. Hvorfor er den prikken der? Heter det egentlig s. ol? Eller er det forkortet for noe? I så fall hva? Jeg liker ikke ubesvarte spørsmål av denne sorten og liker da heller ikke logoen.

Obamas kampanjelogo fikk jeg litt feil assosiasjoner til. Jeg fikk for meg at det var en åker med soloppgang, noe som kanskje ikke er ideelt. Jeg fikk da senere forklart at dette selvfølgelig var det amerikanske flagget, som jo gir mye mer mening. Men jeg tok likevel først feil, og førsteinntrykk er viktig.

H&M har en logo som har holdt seg uforandret så lenge jeg kan huske. Det vil si at jeg husker den fra Hennes og Mauritz Rowells katalog fra da jeg var liten. På 90 tallet. Da passet den veldig fint. Nå er den etter min mening utdatert.

Rimis nye logo er det sagt mye om. At den er stygg er en ting. At den ikke kommuniserer noe klart budskap er en annen.

Partypoker tok jeg med mest på grunn av de negative assosiasjonene jeg har fått etter alle de irriterende pop-up sidene jeg har fått fra dem. Jeg er kanskje ikke i deres målgruppe, men markedsføringen har hvertfall slått feil!

Vengo llegando de Porto Alegre donde pude asistir al BSOP de la ciudad, tras un fugaz paso por Sao Paulo (Azafatas de TAM, yum… om nom nom).

En Porto Alegre me junté con nuestro nuevo embajador (PartyPoker), Felipe Mojave, quien a esta altura ya tiene blog, twitter, orkut, etc, etc. Pueden visitarle aquí. Fuimos junto a Mojave y Akkari a comer a un restoran de Sushi cerca del hotel donde se realizaba el torneo, y terminamos apostando la cuenta. Aún no he vuelto a jugar, estoy como el más casual, lo que siginfica que tendre que ponerme a estudiar pronto ya que el bankroll se agota rápido después de no jugar varios meses.

Der 2. Sonntag der Challenge stand an. Zeit hatte ich bis 17 Uhr viel….nur leider keine Tische. Sehr ernüchternd, wenn man nur ca 50 Minuten spielen kann und dann wieder eine Pause machen muss, weil einfach keine Tische da sind…

Auf 2000 Hände habe ich es trotzdem geschafft.

Also rund 250 PartyPoints, was mich jetzt auf 1552 Punkte bringt. D.h. vom 2. 200$ Bonus sind schon 352 geschafft. Läuft also.

Lust ist auch noch riesig, auch wenn ich merke, dass ab und an die “Kondition” etwas nachlässt. So wie heute Abend. Eigentlich läuft es ganz gut, es macht Spaß, die Fische sind wach…aber ich bin müde

Mag sicherlich damit zusammenhängen, dass ich meinen letzten wirklichen Urlaub vor….12 Monaten hatte. Irgendwann hat dann auch der Körper kein Bock mehr auf morgens arbeiten und abends zocken…Aber in weniger als 2 Monaten ist erstsmal 14 Tage Ruhe mit Arbeit!! YEAH!

Natürlich hatte ich nicht mehr wirklich viele Chancen aufm Flop, aber der dreckige Hund dachte sich, dass er mich mal schön in seine Airlines laufen lässt, da ich ja eh fast 100% Contibette. Aber manchmal reichen auch 12,8% Gewinnchance.

In den ersten 4 Tagen haben ich jetzt 890 Partypoints erspielt. D. h. es fehlen mir nur noch 310 für den ersten 200er. Da morgen die 10.000.000. Hand der unglaublich tollen, sagenhaften und ebenso brillanten Genius Promo kommen wird, werde ich versuchen morgen vielleicht doch die 310 Punkte zu erspielen. Mal sehen.

Aber nur, wenn mich der Schlaf der Gerechten Pokerspieler nicht übermannt.

Tag liegt hinter mir und ich bin – nicht nur wegen des Wakeups um 5 Uhr doch ausreichend erschöpft.

Gebracht hat der Tag kein wirkliches Plus. Aber auch kein Minus Das ist grds. erstmal gut, denn Bonus ist auch Geld.

Waren heute 2000 Hände und somit komme ich auf fast 7000 Hände und nur 750 Punkte. Erschreckende wenig, aber das steigert nur meine Geilheit auf die Challenge. Allerdings sind dunkle Wolken am Pokerhimmel aufgetreten. Partypoker fürchtet sich vor meiner kriminellen Energie und untersagt mir, mich mit einem anderen User (Nennen wir ihn mal Daniel) an einen Tisch zu setzen. Da Daniel aber NL100FR spielt, ist das ziemlich doof. Denn soooo viele Tische gibts da auch nicht. Und als SSSler muss man ja doch ab und an mal den Table wechseln.

Die Konsequenz daraus ist, dass ich neben meiner Arbeit eine weitere zeitliche Einschränkung habe. Ich bin unendlich begeistert. Ich denke ein gepflegtes FU PARTY!! ist angebracht. Arschlöcher.

Damit sollte die Frage aus den Comments auch bereits beantwortet sein: NL100FR SSS, wie schon vor 2 Jahren Limitaufstiege sind nicht mein Ding. Ich cashe lieber ab einem bestimmt Betrag regelmäßig Geld aus. Hab ich mehr Freude dran, als an Swings, die doppelt oder dreifach so groß sind, wie die aktuellen.

Die ersten 13 Stacks sind jedenfalls schon mal weg. Aber eine Challenge heißt Challenge, weil ich mich der Herausforderung stellen werden.
Am Spiel arbeiten, nicht tilten, Geld zurück holen. So ist der Plan!!

So, Tag ist rum. Ich auch. Rollercoaster deluxe. Jetzt sinds doch wieder 13 Stacks down seit Challengebeginn. Zwischendurch warens es nur 7, aber naja. Werde morgen mal ein bisschen über mein Spiel nachdenken und dann morgen Abend weiter donken

Achja, 569 Punkte sinds inzwischen. Das ist soweit ganz gut für 2 Tage

1. Tag. Viele Hände. 360 PP oder so. Macht Spass, aber am Ende war ich auch am Ende. Aber ich sehe viel Spass auf mich zu kommen. Naechstes mal mehr!!!

Alle Pläne sind über den Haufen geworfen. Ich beginne heute mit meiner wirklichen Challenge. Bei PARTYPOKER!!

Folgender Ablauf ist geplant:

Ich habe noch einen 1k$ Bonus durch die Teilnahme an einer Umfrage.  Der Bonus läuft noch bis zum 26. Juli – also noch 14 Tage.

Für 1200 Partypoints gibt es 200 Dollar. Mein Ziel ist es bis dahin 2x 200 Dollar, also 2400 Punkte zu sammeln. Mal sehen, ob es klappt.

Dann hole ich mir die 50 Freedollar von Partypoker und erspiele 300 Punkte um die 50 Dollar auszahlen zu können. Theoretische Sache, aber muss auch gemacht werden. Denn 50 Dollar sind 50 Dollar.

Zum Ende aktiviere ich meine “Welcome back Bonus” i. H. v.  1300 Dollar. Ausgezahlt in 2 Etappen á 650 Dollar. Jeweils 3900 Punkte werden dafür benötigt. Das wird der eigentlich große Teil der Herausforderung. Ob ich wirklich beide 650er Brocken nehme oder nach einem aufgebe, weiß ich noch nicht. Aber der Elan in mir ist grenzenlos

Für die 1300 Dollar habe ich 60 Tage Zeit. Problematisch ist mein Urlaub während dieser Zeit. Aber da ich den 1300er bis zum 30.07.09 gestartet haben muss, hab ich keine Ausweichmöglichkeiten. Mal sehen was ich schaffe.

Um den ersten Teil (2x 200$) zu schaffen, benötige ich rund 180 PP am Tag. Das ist nicht wenig aber heute ist Sonntag und ich möchte gerne ein bisschen mehr als 180 PP vorlegen. Mal sehen
Fazit: Maximum Bonus= 400+50+1300+600 = 2350 $

(Die 600$ ist das Geld, was ich durch Eintauschen der PP bekommen kann!)

Mal sehen wie viel es am Ende wirklich werden ) Mit 1k wäre ich glücklich und der Urlaub bezahlt.
Eingezahlt sind jetzt 1k$. Ein paar Tools müssen noch installiert und ein paar Einstellungen gemacht werden, aber dann kann es los gehen!!

Sieht eher nach Partypoker aus. Allerdings muss ich erst die Rahmenbedingungen klaeren. Dann folgen Updates.
