Israeli FMS Enterprises will launch its new ballistic helmet in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, during LAAD 2013, April 9-12. The new helmet is constructed from advanced High Performance Polyethylene (HPPE) Unidirectional (UD) materials. FMS’ helmet is capable of stopping 5.56mm and 7.62mm cartridges and 7.62mm pistol steel core rounds. The new helmet shell complies with  MIL-STD-662F and meets NIJ Ballistic standards. The helmet is chemical and water resistant as well. The new shell is available in PASGT and MICH shapes.

PASGT

Militer US sendiri sudah berhenti menggunakan helm jenis ini sejak Operation Iraqi Freedom tahun 2003 lalu, digantikan dengan next generation helmet, penyempurnaan PASGT. Namun, bagi yang ingin mengikuti impresi US Army pre-2003, disarankan untuk memilih jenis ini seperti impresi dari film Black Hawk Down yang menggunakan PASGT dengan helmet cover motif DCU.

MITCH

Singkatan dari Modular Integrated Communication Helmet atau dikenal juga dengan nama ACH (Advanced Combat Helmet). Inilah tipe helm yang aktif di kalangan US military baik untuk regular troops maupun special forces. Militer Negara lainpun mulai menggunakan helm jenis ini seperti Canada & Australia. Aslinya diproduksi oleh pabrikan MSA dan GENTECH dari US, helm MICH merupakan penyempurnaan dari helm PASGT. Dengan desain yang lebih ringan dan compact, MICH mengutamakan safety sekaligus efektifitas perangkat komunikasi headset yang kerap digunakan di lapangan. MICH ada beberapa tipe mulai dari yang paling umum yakni MICH 2000, MICH 02 dan 03.

Airsofter yang ingin mengikuti impresi US military, wajib memiliki helm tipe ini, namun memang tidak mudah mendapatkannya, karena walaupun sudah tersedia replikanya, populasi replica MICH di Indonesia masih belum sebanyak PASGT.

MICH bisa dilengkapi dengan mounting untuk pemakaian NVG (night vision goggle) yang banyak digunakan US military. Jenis mounting MICH ada yang standard, adapula jenis baru yang dinamakan NOROTOS, berbentuk segitiga di bagian depan helm. Biasanya impresi akan terlihat lebih maksimal apabila MICH dilengkapi dengan mounting tersebut (walaupun tanpa NVGnya, karena mahal sekali & replikanya pun mahal). Penggunaan Velcro patch pada bagian samping dan atas helm juga kerap digunakan oleh US Special Forces.

Singkatan dari Integrated Balistic Helmet. Digunakan khusus untuk NAVY SEALs, hanya diproduksi sebanyak 300 unit. Secara kapabilitas mirip dengan MICH, namun secara desain, yang membedakan adalah rongga telinga terbuka, ditujukan untuk mengakomodasi pernangkat komunikasi.

Replikanya tersedia dan lebih mudah didapat dari jenis MICH di Indonesia. Harganyapun lebih murah sedikit dari jenis MICH, namun memang bagi Airsofter yang mengejar genuine impresi, hanya bisa memakai IBH bila ingin SEAL style. Biasanya, IBH replika sudah dilengkapi dengan WILCOX mount, untuk pemakaian NVG, jadi tidak perlu membeli mounting secara terpisah.

COMBAT CAP

Jenis topi dengan cutting yang lebih kotak dan non-adjustable. Biasa digunakan oleh militer pada saat off-duty atau di lingkungan barak (non combat situation). Motif camo disesuaikan dengan uniform yang dipakai pada saat itu, tidak dianjurkan untuk berbeda warna. Motif hampir tersedia untuk semua jenis camo mulai dari ACUPAT, Multi-Cam, MARPAT, Woodland, Desert MARPAT, Black, OD, Tan.

Impresi yang bisa dikejar dengan topi jenis ini mungkin US Army pada jungle warfare, karena iklim hutan yang punya kelembaban tinggi tidak sesuai untuk penggunaan helm, maka dari itu banyak US Army yang mengenakan topi senada untuk operasi hutan.

Amerika sebagai Negara casual, bertanggungjawab besar atas penggunaan barang-barang casual untuk berbagai kegunaan, termasuk military operation. Baseball cap kini umum digunakan oleh berbagai kesatuan militer karena dirasa lebih santai namun tetap menjalani fungsinya sebagai penutup kepala. Bahkan, baseball cap untuk militer sudah disesuaikan dengan pengunaan Velcro patch di bagian depan untuk pemasangan patch kesatuan atau identitas militer si pemakai.

Impresi yang dikejar tidak terbatas, namun baseball cap lekat sekali impresinya pada PMC (private military contractor) operator yang kerap memakai non-issued uniform saat menjalani tugasnya.
