<description><![CDATA[Last Wednesday, the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety awarded 27 vehicles for receiving the high]]></description>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Last Wednesday, the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety awarded 27 vehicles for receiving the highest ratings for “safest vehicles for 2010”. All 27 vehicles received an award recognizing them for doing the best job against protecting motorists in front, rear, side and rollover crash. All vehicles feature, Electronic stability control (EST), which is a new state of the art anti-rollover technology.</p>
<p>With a new criterion, the numbers were cut in more than half. 94 were tested and approved in 2009, in comparison to the 24 this year.</p>
<p>Ford Motor Co. and its Volvo unit received the most awards with six, followed by five awards apiece for Japanese automaker Subaru and German automaker Volkswagen AG and its Audi unit. However, Subaru was the only manufacturer with an IIHS in all four vehicles classifications in which it completes.</p>
<p>&#8220;With the addition of our new roof strength evaluation, our crash test results now cover all four of the most common kinds of crashes,&#8221; said IIHS president Adrian Lund in a statement. &#8220;Consumers can use this list to zero in on the vehicles that are on the top rung for safety.&#8221;</p>
<p>Below is the IIHS list of vehicles given a top safety pick.</p>
<p><strong>LARGE CARS: </strong>Buick LaCrosse, Ford Taurus, Lincoln MKS, Volvo S80</p>
<p><strong>MIDSIZE CARS: </strong>Audi A3, Chevrolet Malibu (built after October. 2009), Chrysler Sebring (4-door with optional ESC), Dodge Avenger, Mercedes C Class, Subaru Legacy, Subaru Outback, Volkswagen Jetta (4-door), Volkswagen Passat (4-door), Volvo C30.</p>
<p><strong>SMALL CARS: </strong>Honda Civic (4-door with optional ESC, except Si), Kia Soul, Nissan Cube, Subaru Impreza (except WRX), Volkswagen Golf (4-door)</p>
<p><strong>MIDSIZE SUVs: </strong>Dodge Journey, Subaru Tribeca, Volvo XC60, Volvo XC90</p>

<p>Jag gillar nedanstående kampanj för Volkswagen jättemycket. Dels för att den lyfter upp ett ganska svårt ämne som miljö på ett lättsamt sätt och dels för att de gör jäkligt bra action av det i slutändan. Boka en provkörning. Det är väl så långt det går att komma näst intill ett köp (har hört siffror som säger att en provkörning är ett avslut till 60 %).</p>

<p>Volkswagen uses two systems on their passenger cars option 9W2 and option 9W3. here is the catch 22: option 9W2 supports bluetooth streaming while 9W3 supports voice dialing, phone book transfer (expect on Jetta TDI/SEL) and caller ID.</p>
<p><strong>The ONLY Volkswagen that support A2DP are:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Jetta S (with optional 9W2)</li>
<li>Jetta SE</li>
<li>Jetta Wolfsburg ediiton</li>
<li>Jetta Sportwagen ( all trim levels and engines)</li>
<li>Golf (all trim levels and engines)</li>
<li>GTI</li>
</ul>
<p>The following models <strong>DO NOT SUPPORT A2DP </strong>becuase they use option 9W3 but look at the bright side you get voice dialing!:</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Although, should we really be surprised? Yes, it&#8217;s a Passat, which means it&#8217;s kinda bland (or so the conventional thinking goes), but consider:</p>
<ul>
<li>it&#8217;s a wagon</li>
<li>it&#8217;s a 3.6 liter, naturally aspirated VR6 (which we absolutely love)</li>
<li>it&#8217;s got AWD</li>
</ul>
<p>Our only beef (and admittedly, this is pretty huge) is that the 3.6 wasn&#8217;t ever available with standard transmission (the 2.0T was, but four cylinders and FWD in a car this big doesn&#8217;t get us going). Tiptronic with paddles and sport mode means the lack of a manual gearbox isn&#8217;t a complete dealbreaker, but just barely. And it should go without saying that we don&#8217;t get the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/29/vw-passat-r36-goes-on-sale-in-uk/">good stuff</a> over here (do we ever?).</p>

<p>No, it&#8217;s not going to be an engaging drive right out of the box like, say, the S4 Avant, but it&#8217;ll likely also cost on the order of thousands of dollars less (although we really haven&#8217;t studied this issue yet), haul considerably more stuff (if that&#8217;s important to you), and still look and drive (and sound!) plenty nice after some pretty standard bolt-on modifications that we would have taken to an S4 anyway: cold air intake, exhaust, software tune, cup kit or coilover suspension, rear sway bar, wheels, tires, and possibly brakes if there&#8217;s money left over (since the stock brakes &#8211; also found on the R32, S4, and European S3 &#8211; are pretty good as is).</p>

I must admit that I had yet to see one of these cars <em>done right. </em>And, since I seem to be in the mood for confession, I&#8217;m not going to lie, I&#8217;ve never been the greatest fan of VWs. However, the more I see of them (especially this one), the more they&#8217;re starting to grow on me. <content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Volkswagen, Europe’s largest car maker, will launch the <a href="http://www.carazoo.com/%20article/2807200901/All-about-the-Love-Bug:-The-Volkswagen-Beetle" target="_blank">Beetle</a> in India by December. Volkswagen is expected to import the car from its Mexican plant for sale in India.</p>
<p>Beetle is one of the unbeaten models that Volkswagen has ever produced. The car has made history, although it was criticized widely and predicted to be a complete failure due to its peculiar styling, underpowered motor, rough ride and noisy engine.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.carazoo.com/%20newcars/make/Volkswagen%20" target="_blank">Volkswagen</a> currently sells luxury sedans Passat and Jetta in Indian market. The company is planning to launch its small car Polo by early next year.</p>
<p>VW has two facilities in India at Aurangabad and Chakan, which assembles cars of its three brands, Skoda, Audi and Volkswagen.</p>
<p>VW had earlier announced a target of 8- 10 per cent share of the Indian passenger car market in the next 6 years. It will also consider integrating after- sales service of its three brands in India for better synergy.</p>

<p lang="ca-ES">És difícil poder tindre tot el que un vol, tot el que algú necessita per ser feliç. Jo ara mateix demano tres coses: una universitat amb un sistema pràctic, una ciutat alegre, cosmopolita, tranquil·la, amb festa, cultura i esports. I per últim demano estar aprop dels meus amics, que cada dia crec més en que són la base per la que caminar i les parets a les que repenjar-se en la vida.</p>
<p>Es veu que aquestes tres coses no es poden combinar. A Barcelona no li trobo el model universitari, a Miami no li trobo els amics i no he buscat molt més però hem sona que Europa manca dels aspectes 1 i 2. Total; s&#8217;ha de sacrificar alguna cosa. L&#8217;any passat vaig sacrificar la universitat. No és molt intel·ligent&#8230;.però va valdre la pena. Sobretot per el que deia abans dels amics. Necessito els meus amics. No puc evitar no saber d&#8217;ells i tampoc que ells no sàpiguen de mi. Encara que no preguntin sé que estan pendents (i cada cop em sorprenen més de lo  assabentats que estan) i encara que no diguin res se que coneixen. Tot això del que parlo es deu a que <!--more-->fa anys els meus millors amics anaven canviant-se d&#8217;escola i cada dos anys perdia al &#8220;meu millor amic&#8221;. Va arribar el punt en que vaig ser jo qui va canviar d&#8217;escola i pensava que mantindria el contacte amb els amics. ZERO. Durant uns anys no vaig tornar a parlar-me amb ningú d&#8217;aquella escola, potser algun retrobament:</p>
<p>- Tot bé?<br />
- Si.<br />
- Com esta l&#8217;Aula?<br />
- Tot igual, edifici nou però tot igual.<br />
- I el Ribera?<br />
- Ens enterrarà a tots!</p>
<p>Després per casualitats geogràfiques d&#8217;estiu 	vaig retrobar-me amb un parell, però era molt casual, havia fet 	nous amics a la nova escola i molt millors que la majoria dels 	altres. Llavors va arribar el gran dia. Tenia que repetir primer de 	Batxillerat i no volia quedar-me en el sistema català-espanyol ni 	en “la casa de los lios”. Volia anar-me&#8217;n, amb els amics si 	pogués ser, però tenia que canviar d&#8217;aires. Me&#8217;n vaig anar a 	Irlanda, molt il·lusionat d&#8217;aquesta nova etapa però en el vol 	d&#8217;anada o en la casa d&#8217;acollida en la que vaig passar la nit abans 	d&#8217;anar a la nova escola, em vaig prometre que no permetria perdre 	cap amic dels que tenia llavores. Vaig crear un <a href="http://vila6.spaces.live.com/" target="_blank">space</a>, 	vaig escriure <a href="http://vila6.spaces.live.com/blog/cns%215647ED88EB21C927%213457.entry" target="_blank">cartes</a>, 	vaig crear un <a href="http://www.fotolog.com/mvilaregut/32081242" target="_blank">fotolog</a>, 	un compte a <a href="http://www.youtube.com/mvilaregut" target="_blank">youtube</a>, 	hem connectava diàriament al messenger, trucava, enviava missatges 	de mòbil tot per mantenir el contacte amb tothom. El feedback que 	rebia era bastan poc però funcionava, va funcionar al 150%. No 	només no vaig perdre cap amic, si no que vaig reforçar relacions, 	vaig fer-ne de noves i vaig recuper-ne de velles.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>I was trained on DVcams in college, and I have been trained additionally in the workplace on some features that I didn&#8217;t even know existed when I used DVcams for academic purposes.  (For instance, if you turn to my <span style="text-decoration:underline;">oldest post</span>, you&#8217;ll learn that, at the time, filming interviews for a school documentary, I did not know what a white balance was&#8230; Now, I can say that I do, alongside other basics: the difference between tungsten and daylight in light temperature, the accepted lighting set-up in an interview setting, the wide-angle and 35mm lens effects, how to avoid overmodulated audio, and much more).</p>
<p>Using my training, the assignment desk has sent me on several (admittedly important) stakeouts as a field producer, except now, I was armed with just a DVcam &#8211; I had no cameraman to accompany me.</p>
<p>This stakeout involved grabbing an arrival shot of DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano for the Weekend Nightly News headlines.  She would give a crosstalk with Lester Holt on the status of the H1N1 swine flu vaccine production, and the plan for dispersal, and the show wanted a &#8217;set-up shot.&#8217;  What I shot made it into the show (though, critically, I could&#8217;ve panned a little quicker, to follow her movement):</p>

<p>And, on June 29, the final day of the 2008-09 Supreme Court session, and indeed, the final day of Justice David Souter&#8217;s <em>employment</em> as a Supreme Court Justice, I was sent to stakeout Souter himself.  Situated outside the parking garage at the Court, I waited for hours for Souter&#8217;s olive-green Passat, standing in the glaring sun, constantly tweaking the settings on my DVcam obsessively.</p>
<p>The wait paid off.  With my small, less intrusive camera, I was able to wade into traffic and get a close shot of Souter through his driver&#8217;s side window, and the shot made it into Justice correspondent Pete Williams&#8217; spot for Nightly News that evening (though, also, critically, the shot is wobbly and begging of some stability &#8211; just being honest!) (2:21 in the spot):</p>

A marca decidiu criar um sucessor para o carro apenas para o mercado americano. O carro será diferente do próximo Passat para o resto do mundo.</p>
<p>O blog Irmão do Décio, especializado em projeções, utilizou a imagem cedida pela VW para construir o modelo acima. Pelas formas finais, dá para imaginar que o carro vai mudar bastante em relação ao que existe hoje. A VW promete um carro com dimensões maiores do que o atual Passat e com um preço mais baixo.</p>
<p>O carro, que é identificado pela sigla NMS (New- Midsized Sedan)deve chegar ao mercado americano provavelmente no próximo ano. Aqui no Brasil ele seria uma boa alternativa ao atual Passat, que hoje é caro de mais para brigar com Ford Fusion, por exemplo.</p>

<p>A Volkswagen alemã divulgou ontem um esboço do que será o seu próximo sedã médio para os Estados Unidos. O carro é conhecido pela sigla NMS (New Mid-Sized Sedan),ou novo sedã médio, terá dimensões maiores que o atual Passat, porém com um preço menor.</p>
<p>Como a fabricante irá fazer isso ainda é um mistério. Certo é que o carro está sendo projetado para ser comercializado apenas no mercado americano. O NMS será feito na fábrica da Volkswagen em Chattanooga, Tennessee.</p>
<p>A fabricante alemã espera produzir 100 mil unidades do novo sedã, já no primeiro ano. A necessidade do projeto exclusivamente americano se deu porque o  Passat, que é vendido em euros para os EUA, ficou muito caro depois da depreciação do dólar.</p>
<p>O carro deve chegar ao mercado americano entre 2011 e 2012. Mesma época que a Europa receberá a nova geração do Passat.</p>
