Owners of Borderlands on the PC have finally received the promised patch, which resolves a number of issues with the game, which were either fixed over a week ago for console versions, or were exclusive to the PC. The fixes include the rather bothersome bug where players could lose all of their progress after leaving a co-operative game, a fix for Lilith’s Phase Strike ability, and upgrades to the voice chat functionality.

The patch is available to download for those who purchased the game at retail here, along with the patch notes (included after the jump). Steam (and other digital services) users will receive the update automatically, which is how I stumbled across this news in the first place.

Update 1.0.1 Notes:

- Characters that have lost skill points will have the lost points refunded
- Clients will no longer lose proficiency progress upon leaving a co-op game
- Item cards now display the intended five lines of detail text
- Lilith’s Phase strike and melee attacks from Phase Walk now function as intended
- Voicechat: users can now control volume and individually mute players
- Fixed a bug that sometimes caused CL4P-TP to stop progressing during the introduction
- Server browser population times have been improved
- Server information should now always display the correct plot mission
- Benchmarking feature now works as intended
- Nvidia 3D Vision visuals now render shadows correctly (requires minimum 195.28 drivers, available from nVidia)

Russia bans Modern Warfare 2 over “airport terror” level

Modern Warfare 2 continues to be dogged by controversy, as its sales soar. While British MPs bicker about banning the game, Russia has done just that, removing it from sale and recalling all copies sold.

The Russian government pulled Modern Warfare 2 as a response to the Russian airport terror level, which we first revealed a few weeks back. But Russian gamers are also taking to gaming sites to attack developer Infinity Ward for its portrayal of their nation.

Infinity Ward will submit an edited version of the game within the month, hoping that the Russian government will be mollified enough to restore Modern Warfare 2 to the shelves. It has also removed the airport terror level entirely for Russian gamers.

Modern Warfare 2 sees Russia and America at war after the Russian Federation is taken over by a group of ultra-nationalists. Now what about that could possibly offend the Russians? Perhaps they should take a peep at the Modern Warfare 3 spoof instead.

Gee, now why would the Russian government be offended by this?

As I found out today, trying to fix the “Now playing” information of rhythmbox, there is a patch. It provides a new last.fm plugin that uses the official last.fm client including correctly sent “Now playing”s.

Well Scott and Randy over at the instance.net have really outdone themselves this time.

After Scott’s apparent “screwing up the previous theme” they have released what is possibly the best looking World Of Warcraft site (Obviously apart from the Official one but it does give it a good fun) out there.

The same basic links from the original website are still there in all their glory so it just cosmetic but you should definitely pop on over and tell the guys hi and that we sent you of course lol.

Some of you might not know that I’m a huge fan of adventure racing.  Notice I didn’t say a huge adventure racer, just a huge fan.  I’ve actually competed in two races and plan to one day be an avid/consistent racer (3-5 races per year), but for right now I only dabble.  For those of you not familiar with adventure racing, think of being dropped in the woods with a compass (generally unfamiliar surroundings for a guy who made it through ONE boy scout meeting) and then asked to find a needle (checkpoint) in a ‘forrest haystack’ using said compass.  It ain’t easy, but it’s a blast!  My first race was a 24-hour, mind-numbing, feet-blistering, morale-crushing race.  I somehow managed to talk (trick?) my buddy Graham into racing with me.  We were asked to trek, navigate, bike, canoe and swim for 24 hours hours.  We spent 5 1/2 hours in a canoe (Graham, I won’t tell them what happened to you), and at one point I was literally seeing things moving in the woods while Graham was hearing thing in the woods.  Pretty freaky experience.  I can easily say that I won’t do another 24-hour race.

My latest race was just slightly different.  For the latest one, think more “Amazing Race” than “Survivor”.  The race was the part of the Oyster Racing Series, and they hold several races through the year in different cities.  Graham and I teamed up again, but this time we had our friend Bjon join us to form The Good, The Bad & The Ugly (you get to decided who is who!).  We covered about 30 miles total, but we didn’t canoe nor did we need a compass.  On this race we were given clues that led us around downtown Nashville to various sites and landmarks on foot and bike.  There were times that we used Bjon’s iPhone to look up a location, asked people for directions, and we were even allowed to use public transportation.  It was a completely different experience from the 24-hour race, and we’ll definitely be doing it again next year.  Here’s a great article recapping the Merrill team’s take on it.  The Merrill-sponsored team finished 6th in the men’s devision, while we finished 8th.  Not bad if you ask me!

Microsoft just released a patch to address the License Logging Server Heap Overflow Vulnerability (CVE-2009-2523). This vulnerability affects the License Logging Service (LLS), a feature which according to Microsoft is “designed to help customers manage licenses for Microsoft server products that are licensed in the Server Client Access License (CAL) model.”

This vulnerability only affects Microsoft Windows 2000 Server Service Pack 4 and is rated Critical since this service is enabled by default in that OS. It is also accessible via anonymous network connection and exploiting this vulnerability can lead to extensive heap memory corruption which could possibly lead to remote code execution. It no longer affects the newer MS Server systems since this service has already been removed since Windows Server 2008.

A cracked server is a server where you can play  online games without having a cd-key or a third party application.So lets see how we can play left 4 dead online without steam.

First, you should download version 1.0.1.5 patch for most of the cracked servers use v1.0.1.5 or v1.0.1.4.

Go to options-keyboard mouse-allow developer console-enabled

Push “~” button to open console then type in  “connect ip”  and hit enter (you have to type in the ip number of the server e.g

“connect 194.187.205.181:28000″)

Se você assim como eu odeia o MSN 2009 e prefere o 8.5 que funciona bem, não cai e coisa e tal rsrsrs achei um Patch que proporciona o uso do 8.5 sem que ele fique te pedindo para atualizar.

Agora, se você já tem o 2009 por que foi obrigado  a instalar utilize o Fine Uninstaller (clique aqui para baixar) para desinstalá-lo, abra o programa e selecione “Windows Live Messenger”, clique com o botão direito e clique em desinstalar.

Depois instale novamente a versão 8.5 (clique aqui para baixar), não abra o MSN8.5, execute o Patch, instale-o e abra o MSN8.5, além disso esse Patch tira aquelas propagandas chatas.

Sono sei i bollettini di sicurezza che Microsoft ha rilasciato quest’oggi nel corso del consueto “patch day” mensile: tre di essi sono indicati come “critici” mentre i restanti sono classificati come “importanti”. Il livello di criticità che Microsoft è solita riportare, è sempre il più grave: a seconda del sistema operativo, sia esso Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008 o Windows 7, il rischio derivante da una mancata applicazione della patch corrispondente può talvolta essere considerato come più contenuto.

Ecco una breve panoramica degli aggiornamenti rilasciati questo mese:
- Una vulnerabilità nei servizi web (WSDAPI) può facilitare l’esecuzione di codice nocivo in modalità remota (MS09-063; KB973565). Questo aggiornamento corregge una lacuna di sicurezza scoperta in WSDAPI (Devices Application Programming Interface). La vulnerabilità potrebbe essere sfruttata da parte di un aggressore che riesca ad inviare al sistema non aggiornato mediante l’installazione della patch un pacchetto dati modificato “ad arte”. Va comunque sottolineato che l’attacco può avvenire solo all’interno della medesima subnet locale. Affetti dal problema sono Windows Vista e Windows Server 2008 (tranne la versione “R2″). Patch “critica”.

- Una vulnerabilità nel “License Logging Server” può agevolare l’esecuzione di codice dannoso in modalità remota (MS09-064; KB974783). La patch risolve una vulnerabilità che affligge i sistemi Windows 2000 SP4 e che potrebbe essere sfruttata da un aggressore inviando, verso il sistema afflitto dal problema, pacchetti RPC modificati con l’intento di far leva sulla falla. Patch indicata come “critica”.

- Alcune vulnerabilità presenti nei driver kernel-mode potrebbero consentire l’esecuzione di codice in modalità remota (MS09-065; KB969947). L’aggiornamento permette di sanare tre diverse lacune di sicurezza. La più grave potrebbe comportare l’esecuzione di codice dannoso nel caso in cui l’utente visualizzi dei contenuti resi con un font EOT (Embedded OpenType) modificato “ad arte” da un aggressore. Malintenzionati potrebbero far leva sulla falla allestendo siti web “maligni” che utilizzano fonti EOT appositamente alterate. La patch, che interessa tutti gli utenti di Windows (fatta eccezione per coloro che impiegano sistemi Windows 7 o Windows Server 2008 R2), è stata classificata come “critica”.

- Una vulnerabilità in Active Directory può esporre ad attacchi DoS (MS09-066; KB973309). Installando questa patch sui sistemi che fanno uso di Active Directory, è possibile proteggersi da eventuali attacchi “Denial of Service” (DoS). Aggiornamento “importante”.

- Alcune vulnerabilità in Excel potrebbero facilitare l’esecuzione di codice in modalità remota (MS09-067; KB972652). Questo aggiornamento è rivolto a tutti gli utenti di Office XP, Office 2003, Office 2007, Office 2004 per Mac ed Office 2008 per Mac. Esso consente di risolvere alcune vulnerabilità individuate in Microsoft Excel che potrebbero comportare l’esecuzione di codice dannoso sul sistema dell’utente nel momento in cui egli dovesse trovarsi ad aprire un file XLS modificato da un aggressore per sfruttare il problema di sicurezza. Patch “importante”.

- Una vulnerabilità in Word può agevolare l’esecuzione di codice in modalità remota (MS09-068; KB976307). Questo aggiornamento, come il precedente, permette di sanare una lacuna di sicurezza che potrebbe esporre a rischi nel momento in cui, utilizzando Microsoft Word, si cerchi di aprire un documento “maligno”, preparato da un aggressore. Patch “importante”.

A corollario del “patch day” odierno, Microsoft ha rilasciato anche un nuovo aggiornamento per il suo “Strumento di rimozione malware” (ved. questa pagina), giunto alla versione 3.1.

Il prossimo appuntamento con il “patch day” di Microsoft è fissato per l’8 dicembre.

This is a bit late coming now because i have been a bit busy and being the only hands on deck its hard to keep up. So a lot of things have gone on since Modern Warfare 2 was release, we had the patch because trophies werent working then when Infinity Ward was adding more multiplayer servers the servers went down altogether but this was ´the fault´of the third party company that manages the servers for PS3 Modern Warfare 2.

The friend invites do not work like at all but there is a temporary fix:

When you receive an invite and you are in-game press the PS button on your dualshock, then highlight account management and press triangle and sign out. Now click sign in then go to your messages and accept the invite, if the friend who invited you waited for you to come back online you should join their party without a problem. Bit of a pain but better than nothing.

A patch is due to be released tomorrow (Friday 13th) to sort the party system out however i dont seem to optimistic but lets see what tomorrow brings.

Out of everything that came during the patch update on November 11th, my favorite would have to be the new line of quests for Adventurers called “Episode 1″.

This gives Adventurers the same advantage that Cygnus Knights get during 1st job, a line of quests to help you level.

As a bonus to these quests, you also get equips which will definitely boost up your attack damage.

*I’m going to make 1 of each class and attempt to take screen shots of every single helmet, glove, and shoe that you get through these quests*

Another thing that came during this patch update was a preview clip of the new class Aran.

This video is similar to the Cygnus Knights preview in that it shows your character doing skills that the new class can do.

To see this video, all you have to do is be at least lvl 14(or somewhere around that) and talk to Cassandra to get a quest called “They’re Coming Back!”(or something of the sort).

The video also shows the release date for the Aran class, which is December 9th, 2009!

Tonight talk of the patch came up in guild chat.  Nothing too serious, but someone complaining about the new badge system and how people will again be able to run heroics and get gear that is on par or just one set behind those who are raiding.  They were upset over “free epics”.

Okay, so maybe it’s just me, but I don’t care what kind of epics are at the end of the rainbow, doing the same dungeons over and over and over on 3+ level 80s so they can all get gear…boo.  So I don’t do it.  Maybe others do, but it seems like lots of work to me.  I tried to propose to this person that the patch has more to offer than just new gear, and isn’t the experience of raiding the real reason to go and the loot is just a special side effect?

They they complained that yes, the patch has more than gear, it has nerfs too.  I think I was talking to Mr. Negativity.  I then joked that if you play a non-favored class and especially a non-favored spec, you’ll always get buffs in the patches *cough cough* frost mages and demonology warlocks.  Now I’m not saying play a class or spec that you don’t like so that you always get buffs.  That’s not why I picked frost mage, I just liked playing it better – though I’m really enjoying fire since the dual spec. 

Patches are always dicey like that, though I can’t think of a patch where I was upset about it.  Well except when they nerfed penance.  But mostly I’ve been excited about the patches because there’s new content, new loot, new talents, new everything!  Even a nerf isn’t always bad, I sometimes want to say hey DKs, it’s not that you’re so awesome at DK, it’s that they made them too powerful over the other classes, so stop crying that you’re being put on par with the others.  He he. 

I’m still looking forward to the next patch, and to expansions.  Though there’s a lot more to do yet!  Speaking of which, I’ll never get Rossini to 79 by typing here instead of playing!
