Moja mama je bila poslovodja v trgovini z obutvijo v Novi Gorici. Bilo so časi, ko sem bil še srednješolec. Njena trgovina je bila v neposredni bližini šolskih središč. Toda mladi v trgovino niso zahajali. Hodili so v Italijo. Pa smo debatirali, kaj je razlog. (To je bil moj prvih »svetovalni« projekt, ne da bi se tega sploh zavedal).

Brez velikega poglabljanja bi kdorkoli hitro ugotovil, da je ponudba za mlade neprivlačna in da je obenem to tržna priložnost, saj v celotni okolici ni enega samega ponudnika, ki bi nagovarjal to generacijo. Ok, naslednjo sezono torej pripeljemo nekaj ponudbe za mlade. Ne, ni dovolj samo nekaj, reče izkušenj polna mama. Mladi morajo imeti izbiro. Naročiti je treba mini kolekcijo. Pa je nastal mali kotiček znotraj trgovine s ponudbo za mlade. A prodaja žal ni bila uspešna.

Rezultatov ne moreš pričakovati takoj, treba je to spromovirati, vztrajati …. Pa tudi naslednjo sezono ni bilo zadovoljivih rezultatov (čeprav je bilo malo boljše).

Potem si rečeš, če želiš priti do rezultata je treba narediti korenito spremembo. Spremeniti je treba interier, prodajni servis, etc … Prodajalke stare štirideset let in več, ne morejo prodajati najstnikom. Najstniki se želijo popolnoma distancirati od zunanje podobe »establishmenta«.  Oni želijo biti drugačni. Pred njimi je bodočnost. Apriori se odrekajo vsemu, kar diši po prežvečenem. Želijo si izgraditi svoj lasten imidž. In svoj dragocen denar (ja, ko si mlad, ti sto evrov pomeni celo bogastvo, sploh če nisi iz premožne družine), boš naložil v nekaj, kar ti res veliko pomeni in ga boš zapravil tam, kjer imaš zares občutek, da dobiš tisto, kar želiš.

Pa prideš do zaključka, da moraš mami reči, naj opusti idejo, da bo postala verodostojen ponudnik najstnikom. (Itak: če ni znala mene razumeti, valjda ne more razumeti niti mojih vrstnikov.)

Toda, ne glede, ali so najstniki tvoji kupci ali ne – najstniki so izredno pomemben tržni segment, sploh v modi. In nanje se začenjajo zelo profesionalno obračati velika imena. Pozornost bi vam želel usmeriti na tri primere:

Teen Vogue

Zakaj se je Vogue, eden izmed najbolj vplivnih modnih medijev spustil v ta tržni segment? Prikazuje trende, ki jih narekujejo Balmain, Louis Vuitton, Dolce&Gabbana in podobni modni guruji, katerih cenovna politika zagotovo ne nagovarja najstnikov. Toda, najstniki so za modo dovzetni. Iz leta v leto bolj.

Topshop, Urban Outfitters, Tally Weijl, Roxy, Vans, Swatch, so blagovne znamke, namenjene izključno mladim. Sledijo življenjskemu slogu najstnic in najstnikov, vsaka na svoj način. Nekatere so si v DNK zapisale glamur, druge neke vrste uporništvo. Bleščeči slog luksuza je mladim cenovno dostopen s Swarovski kristali.  Celo dizajner Marc Jacobs se z blagovno znamko Marc by Marc Jacobs  vse bolj približuje najstnicam. V poletni kolekciji je recimo bila torbico za samo 38 dolarjev (na fotografiji).

Najstniki so že danes pomemben tržni segment, jutri bodo pa to ključni kupci. Treba jih je negovati.

Patricia Field

Vsi poznamo modni slog iz nanizanke Seks v mestu. Izgradila ga je Patricia Field. Stilistka je postala vplivno ime v modi. Izgradila si je blagovno znamko. In kako jo kapitalizira? Da prodaja mladim, čeprav bi lahko ubrala popolnoma drugačno pot. Namesto, da bi koketirala z Guccijem, Jimmy Choojem in podobnimi, se gre se »co-branding« z Barbie. Pripravlja kolekcije, katerih estetika in cena je pisana na kožo najstnicam, kot lahko vidite iz spodnjega posnetka njene modne revije za kolekcijo pomlad-poletje 2009.

Please know you have profoundly helped me grow to who I am today (I hope that’s not a bad thing!). I apologize off the bat for the bad grammar. This is a very stream of consciousness letter. I am thankful for so many people this is going to sound like an acceptance speech. If only I had an award to go with it!For some reason, I feel more thankful than ever. Going through a transformation of sorts puts everything in perspective. When I lost my job this past June, I would have never guessed I would have felt more alive and have met some of the most amazing people. I never dreamed I would be on television/radio and also have a blog, which has had to date over 15,000 hits. I am grateful for EVERYONE who visits day after day!

Keep me in your heart, as I do with you.

Wagner College gave me amazing inspiration to find myself and meet professors and life-long friends who inspire me daily. There are many ways you can gain an education as I learned in my years at Wager!

I’ve been inspired by a few different things lately…  among them, Karen O (as always), a little dip back into Cabaret, skeletons, deer, sequins, studs, faux fur, and Bauhaus.

As the nights get colder and the days begin to gray, I find myself aesthetically drawn to dark themes, motifs from nature and how wolves can be juxtaposed with deer…  stylistically and metaphorically.

FABULOUS…yes..thats the perfect word to describe Ayumi, Hair and Makeup Artist at Hello Beautiful Salon-House of Field (located at 302 Bowery, NYC) on the lower level of the Patricia Field Boutique. What a jem of a salon. We felt as though we had entered a secret passage to hair & fashion heaven! Millie and I had sooo much fun talking with her. She is a totally wonderful looking, Japanese import who has been working there since 1993!

It didnt feel much like an interview because shes so humble and easy going…oh and did I mention the woman is a total fashion forward, hair guru, from head to toe. I mean from her impeccably done hair and makeup to her Vivienne Westwood heels…I wanted a full hair make-over-the-top on the spot!

As if we were not gagging at how much we loved her, Ayumi is Patricia Field’s personal hair stylist (I know…AMAZING… THE Sex in the City stylist is Ayumi’s client) and has a full list of other celebrities and music artists…including the Wonder Girls, and yeah remember Deee-Lite, groove is in the heart… I mean the list goes on. Ayumi says many people come in to see her for her cuts & colors (her specialty), they also go to Great Lengths for her great extensions. Umm yes, longer hair is always better, my opinion anyway ADM (Aye Dios Mio) I am out of control!

Ayumi is inspired by traveling, music artists and working inside of one of the most cutting edge fashion hubs in NYC, HELLO Patricia Field people. When we asked about the latest hair trend everyone was asking for in the salon-she responded by saying that all of her clients are so different and unique. No boring, cookie cutter stylist here We heart her and know you will too…

Killing it! The Patricia Field stud cincher. Obsessed with Carrie's belt too?

Nothing makes me ‘ooh and ahh’ these days like accessories accented with zippers, grommets and studs.  There is something perversely dark and edgy about any of these details.  Perhaps it’s a hint of after-hours dominatrix mixed with punk rocker in a smokey, dilapidated Lower Manhattan dive bar.  Or maybe that’s just me.

While any of these styles can be pretty conventional as far as recycled fashion goes, the key to integrating ‘a trend’ into your look is to adapt it either subtlely or as a statement.  I prefer to go all the way…Volumes more fun.  And ask yourself, why have only a little fun, when you can have A LOT? 

• Zippers – I’m not talking the fly on your jeans or the closure that keeps your wallet safe in your handbag, I mean using zippers as part of the aesthetic design.  I have seen wonderful interpretations of zippers strewn across tops haphazardly, bunched as fleurettes accenting a scoop neckline or even used to edge leather ruffles on a hobo bag.  The key here is that zippers are all form, no function.

• Studs – I’m not talking about that vampire guy from Twilight or the head captain of the football team, I mean those silver or gold metallic buttons that add a special sparkle to clothing or accessories.  The most notable are the studs we are seeing all over birdcage stilettos and sexy boots.  Today, I saw the most beautiful leather opera gloves with tiny stud details and shiny, black patent with geometric studs.  My friend A got me a studded Giles top from London, fashioned into a the head of a tiger (sounds like an over the top extravaganza because it is).  It has a very interesting shiny, tactile quality and when asked to feel it, I respond, “See, See. No touch.”  That, or $5 please.  haha.

• Grommets – I have no witty analogy for this one.  While I do love grommets, I don’t feel nearly as passionate about them as I do studs.  What can I say?  I live in truth.  The best interpretation is on something completely unexpected such as these Coach lacquered wooden bangles.  The disproportionate size of the grommets is enhancing the enticement.

 To perfect your look, remember to smudge your smokey eyes and shake up your hair like you just don’t care.  Rock on!

I paid a visit to the Patricia Field store in NY (which I love… I come here all the time for their accessories & plus I simply love Pat), and as I was browsing thru the racks low and behold this tee pops up!!!

WOW!!! I mean, I have no words… actually fuck that, I have plenty of words to say about how shocked and disgusted I am that someone would straight up bite my Coco x Hellz tee… chomp chomp!!! Every highlight is exact… even my subliminal “M” on the wrist for Misslawn… The only difference is they took out Hellz.

Patricia Field has teamed up with Diet Coke again, this time to bring us a re-useable bag. The bag exclusive to ‘Boots’; is yours when you buy two bottles of 500ml Diet Coke.

Diet Coke has stated that ‘by continuing our relationship with Patricia, we’ve used fashion as a tool to tap into our target audience’s passion points- creating a stylish accessory which carries a strong environmental message.’ Yes it carries an environmental message but it certainly isn’t stylish.

After the success of the ‘Diet Coke City Collection’ and the ‘(ugly) Betty Bottle’ it’s a let down. The design on the bag draws on inspiration from various fashion terms which have been placed on the bag in brilliant white and flashes of bright pink writing. It even folds up into a practical small pouch- which has a grey leopard print design. Overall it just looks cheap. You get the idea that all though it’s re-useable, it’s not going to last very long.

Asked whether the second movieadaptation of the popular HBO series will be as “big” as the first movie in term of length, the Charlotte York depicter said, “Oh no. This one is not going to be that long. It’s like condensed soup.” When MTV reporter Josh Horowitz questioned if “every minute will be meaty”, she responded, “Yes! And different, and adventure and rich, and like, there’s music involved.”

Being the stylist of a series of fashion movies and dramas like Sex and the City, Ugly Betty, and the Devil Wears Prada, Patricia Field is well known as a heavy weight in the fashion world.

But Du Lala may be a strange name to recognize. She is neither a stylist nor a hollywood star. Du Lala is the main figure of a top-selling novel in China: A Story of Lala’s Promotion, which is a story about a Chinese girl’s fighting in career development. Recently, the novel was adapted to a movie by Jinglei Xu, a talented young female director and actress. Trying to change people’s negative impression on local fashion movies, she magically invited Patricia Field come to China and styling for the movie for  5 days.

What makes the fashion devil spare five days from the busy preparation for Sex and the City II? Maybe she was attracted by the interesting story, maybe her curiosity of Chinese fashion movie, or the charm of the director Xu. But anyway, she came, with her magical styling hands. “Sex and the City” star Kim Cattrall and Matthew Macfadyen, who played Mr. Darcy in the 2005 film version of “Pride and Prejudice,” are to star in the West End in a new production of Noel Coward’s 1930 comedy Private Lives.

It will begin performances Feb. 24, 2010, prior to an official opening March 3, for a run that is booking through May 1. Prior to the West End, it will preview at the out-of-town Theatre Royal in Bath, beginning performances Feb. 10 for a run to Feb. 20.

The production will be directed by Richard Eyre, and produced by Duncan C. Weldon, Theatre Royal Bath Productions and Sonia Friedman Productions.

In the play, which was last seen on Broadway in 2002 in the transfer of a West End production that starred Lindsay Duncan and Alan Rickman, Amanda and Elyot have been divorced from each other for five years. Now both are honeymooning with their new spouses in the South of France. When by chance they meet again across adjoining hotel balconies, their insatiable feelings for each other are immediately rekindled. Without a care for scandal, new partners or memories of what drove them apart in the first place, they hurl themselves headlong into love and lust.

The British-born Cattrall has previously appeared in the West End in productions of Whose Life Is It, Anyway? at the Comedy Theatre in 2005 and David Mamet’s The Cryptogram at the Donmar Warehouse in 2006. She is best known for playing Samantha Jones in the HBO TV series “Sex and the City” (for which she won a Golden Globe Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award and five Emmy nominations) and the subsequent 2008 film version. She is currently filming “Sex and the City 2.” Other film roles include appearances in the forthcoming Roman Polanski political thriller “The Ghost” and “Meeting Monica Valour”, as well as “Porky’s,” “Police Academy,” “Bonfire of the Vanities,” “Star Trek VI,” John Carpenter’s cult classic “Big Trouble in Little China,” “Mannequin” and “The Tiger’s Tail.” She was also seen in the TV movie “My Boy Jack,” opposite Daniel Radcliffe. Richard Eyre was previously director of the National Theatre from 1988 to 1997. Sex and the City 2 shooting heads to Morocco

Sarah Jessica Parker, her six-year-old son James Wilke and the child’s nanny were photographed leaving her Greenwich Village townhouse on Monday afternoon en route to the airport for a flight to Morocco.  While the trip’s main purpose is to continue shooting the Sex and the Citysequel, it may have doubled as a birthday treat for James, who will turn seven on October 28.

Wouldn’t the newly redone La Mamounia – the 18th century palace of Moroccan Prince Moulay Mamoun and a film location for Alfred Hitchcock’s The Man Who Knew Too Much – provide an excellent venue for his birthday celebration?

Parker’s actor-husband Matthew Broderick, the couple’s twin daughters, Marion and Tabitha (born four months ago with the help of a surrogate) and quite likely another nanny or two have presumably remained at home in New York City.  It appears shooting in “the City” where this entertainment franchise is primarily set wrapped last week with highly publicized scenes in which Penelope Cruz, Liza Minnelli and Mylie Cyrus are reported to make appearances.  Us magazine provides a quick clip of some of the movie’s New York City filming in the video at the end of this article.

According to Life & Style magazine, the Moroccan scenes will be shot in the cities of Erfoud, Rabat and Marrakech.  The film’s style guru, Patricia Field, told People magazine, “[We're shooting] there for about six weeks.  You’ll probably see belly dancers and Bedouins!”  The Moroccan film location was decided upon after Dubai officials denied the production access to shoot there, fearing the resulting movie would be too racy for Middle Eastern standards and would reflect poorly on the country.

Calling all “Sex and the City” fans! You’ve seen their 80’s pics with their long pearls, big tutus, and huge hair leaving you in question, but look no further, we have some details!

According to PEOPLE, “style guru” Patricia Field gives some info on the anticipated “Sex and the city 2.” “It was in the beginning of the movie,” Field explained. “Carrie was waiting to meet her girlfriends and she was thinking about when she first moved to New York in the ’80s and how she met Samantha and Charlotte. They’re all, in real time, meeting to go shopping. And in her flashback time, she is thinking of when she first met each one of them.”

Field also says Miley Cyrus is definitely in the movie.  “Cyrus recently filmed a scene with Kim Cattrall, where the two ostensibly showed up to a movie premiere in matching outfits.”

Also, the cast is broadening out their locations. The first “Sex and the City” movie they were in Mexico and the next film they’ll be shooting some parts in Morocco.

The film will also have guest appearances by Liza Minnelli and Penelope Cruz.

So there you have it!

“Sex and the City 2″ is said to be released in 2010.

Hilary Duff is in the city to film her latest flick “In the Business of Falling in Love” – and falling she is!

The star took a (staged) tumble in the middle of a busy crosswalk Wednesday for the romantic comedy, which has a plot very similar to the “Sex and the City” series, according to the UK’s Daily Mail.

Duff plays a young fashionable magazine columnist who writes about her dating struggles in the city (hello, Carrie Bradshaw).

Though Duff’s character ends up going undercover to snag a rich banker, her flashy handbags, sexy dresses, and sky-high stilettos scream “SATC,” according to the Daily Mail.

But the movie isn’t the only thing keeping the 22-year-old busy.

She recently joined the cast of “Gossip Girl” to play Olivia Burke, a young celebrity looking for a normal educational experience.

“Everyone’s been really, really gracious to me and sweet to me,’” she told People.com. “They called me and said come and do a few episodes. I jumped at the chance.”

I gotta say, I love MAC lipsticks. I love the texture, which is creamy and non-drying. I love the scent, which is like cotton candy. I love the range of colors, from dark to pale to bright. And lately, I love the look of two specific MAC lipsticks, Film Noir and Deep Love. Film Noir is a very dark brown, so dark that it’s almost black if applied straight-on from the tube. But use it with a lipstick brush and a light hand, and you’ve got a look that is more fashion-forward than goth club kid. Blotting with a tissue helps, as well. And Deep Love…ah, this one is so perfect. Sadly, I believe this color has been discontinued. It’s a deep burgundy with no trace of fuschia. It’s pure class. I keep it in my purse all the time. I guess the only thing that’s tricky about these dark colors is that you can’t just swipe them on, unless your goal is to look deranged, in which case, by all means, swipe away. Maybe I just haven’t had enough practice with these deep shades, but I do like to use them with a lip brush just for precision. Otherwise I sometimes wind up with the melted-crayon look. Which has its own special charm, I suppose. *** I remember having bought a deep burgundy lipstick at the fabulous Patricia Field’s, and that same night I wore it out to a club.  Some guy I ended up dancing with said to me- under the dim club lighting- “You really shouldn’t wear black lipstick.” I was really upset, not that black lipstick is bad, but this was a gorgeous color, if he’d only seen it in the light of day, if only he hadn’t been so dismissive. Soon after I threw that lipstick away. I really wish I hadn’t, I wish I’d had the confidence to just continue wearing it. These days, I wear similar colors without the same self-consciousness I had back then. I find this look bold and edgy. MAC’s Film Noir and especially Deep Love are definitely favorites of mine…it’s taken me long enough to appreciate them, but now that I do, I can’t see myself ever wanting to go back to a more demure look. It’s too late! I’m too far gone (start singing “She’s Come Undone”)! These lipsticks are like instant confidence, so take THAT, club guys everywhere!
