Throughout the ages of the advertisement industry, music has played a huge part in the promotion process. Most recent examples of this is Apple’s Ipod Ad with ‘Jerk it out’ by The Caesars, MacDonald’s slogan ‘I’m Loving It’ by Justine Timberlake, and of course Pepsi’s remake of ‘We Will Rock You’ featuring Britney Spears, Beyonce and Pink. But once again Coca-Cola has outplayed its competitors with its new uplifting/self-inspiring song from the combined efforts of Janelle Monae, Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump, Panic at the Disco’s Brendon Urie, Gym Class Heroes’ Travis McCoy and who else but Gnarls Barkley himself. This single has been around for a few months now, but with Cola’s new summer line of advertisement reinforcing their new slogan ‘open up happiness,’ there is no doubt this will be topping charts soon.

Is a remixer? Maybe I’m behind…no I am definitely behind the times on this but last time I checked Fall Out Boy frontman Patrick Stump sang Michael Jackson style vocals and played guitar whilst wearing a signature hat and looking incredibly cuddly. And no matter what people say about him, Pete Wentz is a business genius. A Label, a clothing line, a publishing company, that man has skill when it comes to making money.

And that is off topic, Patrick Stump has taken a sideline remixing pop-punk style emo bands on an electro tip. This one is a Baltimore band named All Time Low who most people know most recently thanks to their single “Weightless” which has been getting a lot of Radio 1 daytime airplay, and the fact that they’ve just been added to the Kerrang Relentless tour in 2010. The band have been over for Give it a Name fest before in 2008 and make disgustingly happy poppy rock music. This really is no exception. The sound is very early Fall Out Boy or Boys Like Girls which appeals to the younger female audience and guiltily I admit that I sometimes enjoy dancing around my bedroom to it when I’m feeling crap. It’s not cool, it doesn’t have any kind of kudos or status, it’s commercial and childish but at the same time it is guaranteed to get a drunk club jumping. Sometimes I think people should just leave their egos at the door when it comes to music and like what they like, not jump on the next big thing cause it’s cool.

Maybe now I’m just trying to save my image.

Anyway Stump’s remix has a nice dark electro, dare I say again, Michael Jackson-ish beat about it. You can’t get away from the distinctive pop-punk style vocals, but the actual music behind it is quite now. Have a listen.

Did you know Patrick got arrested? He’s worried about his mum’s reaction when she hears about his arrest. The lead singer of Fall Out Boy was arrested in Beverly Hills because he was driving with out a valid license. He admitted to the offence but says it was an accident. He said: “All I really have to say is ignorance of the law isn’t innocence. I didn’t want to give up my Illinois driver’s license and was unaware that was a crime. It is, by the way, in the state of California. Lesson learned. I technically broke a law, so technically I deserve whatever I get”

Haley had work to do and I was bored out of my skull so the liveblog ended early.  Here’s a quick wrap-up of what happened.

Michael Jackson is still the King.

Kanye is still a douche.

Tracy Morgan BLOWS.  Why was he even involved?!?  Since when is he relevant?  I miss Eminem’s blonde hair.  A LOT.

Lady Gaga got best new artist.  I nearly tossed my cookies.  She’s so fucking disgusting.  The best part was that we couldn’t see her face.  I’m sure “God” doesn’t care about your shenanigans and “the gays” should shun you.

I love Pink’s music, but I can’t stand her personality.  Her performance WAS the best though – very athletic.  Still, I’d rather her sing well than see acrobatics and hear broken lyrics and panting.  Cirque de So-so.

Russell Brand should’ve had more bits.  WE LOVE HIM!

Fucking Beyonce won video of the year so all you whiney bitches can shut the fuck up.  She should have been booed.  She should not have been applauded for bringing Taylor Swift on stage – if you ask me, that was the ONLYoption.  I don’t believe for a second that she wasn’t involved in the Kanye ridiculousness and I also don’t believe her publicist didn’t MAKE her do it.

What the FUCK?!?  I thought Cobra Starship was performing.  Disappointed.

How DARE MTV involve Joe Jackson in the MJ memorial.  That man is a MONSTER.  He is one of the worst human beings to ever walk this Earth.  He’s just as responsible for MJ’s death as Dr. Conrad Murray and he MAKES ME SICK.  If I had been there, he would have gotten an earful.  I can only hope that a horrible, horrible death befalls him.  Bless Madonna for sticking it to him on stage.  (I never had a mother, but he never had a childhood.)  I have a new-found respect for her.

Our friend Shell got her purse robbed from her tent whilst she was asleep in it and POTENTIALLY EVEN WORSE, my massive throne-esque camping chair got nicked! It was such a good chair too, cup-holders and everything! I slept with one eye open for the rest of the festival…

3. I am too small to be at the very front of the barrier for The Maccabees. CRUSHED.

4. Always beware of the one-hour gap between Patrick Wolf and Me You At Six. Because Them Crooked Vultures WILL perform a secet gig and you WILL miss it.

5. Fame has it’s price. And Kings of Leon found out the hard way throwing a massive stress when it dawned on them that the majority of their crowd were now 15-year-old scenesters, drunk off one WKD, there to see Sex on Fire and Use Somebody. In fact, to quote one young lad there on the SUNDAY NIGHT; “I’ve only seen Kings of Leon and Enter Shikari!” £175 well spent then…

6. Wind at the Main Stage is your worst enemy. Fall Out Boy never stood a chance on Friday afternoon, where rumour had it that the effects of some hurricane over in America were drowning out little Patrick Stump’s vocals. Poor Patrick.

7. I am no longer an Arctic Monkeys fan. Dull, dull, dull.

8. It is a very ‘young’ festival. I mean, of course this is a massive generalisation, but I didn’t half feel old, continually wishing I could rewind 5 years and take just that little bit more joy from shouting “BOLLOCKS” with a sea of a few thousand people and hugging sweaty men.

9. You’ll spend a good couple of hours not desperately wanting to see anyone, then 3 bands you love will all clash. Golden Silvers, Crystal Castles and Yeah Yeah Yeahs on Sunday evening. Yowch.

10. That liquid that hits you in the back of the neck at 10pm is never going to be a lukewarm cup of coffee…

All of this said, I had the most amazing time. Special commendations to:

• Yeah Yeah Yeahs for their accoustic performance of Maps. Beautiful.
• You Me At Six for the best performance of the weekend, despite the fact I knew NONE of their songs. It really says something when hearing a band makes you get up off the grass outside the tent to come in and watch. They were absolutely fabulous, completely hitting the nail on the head with clever marketing by writing songs which smack their teenage fans right in the face. And I guess it helps that the lead singer is FIT in real life.
• The Rakes for an incredible setlist: Retreat, 22 Grand Job, The Light From Your Mac, Strasbourg, The World Was A Mess But His Hair Was Pefect, 1989, We Danced Together, Open Book…
• Friendly Fires for deciding that Ed Macfarlane should dance more on stage! At the NME Awards Tour this year the whole band was a little static, but it was all-change for Reading! The boy was bustin’ moves and it was totally infectious!
• Passion Pit, for not spinning out exactly what’s on the CD but remixing their biggest songs, providing something that was still recognisable for their (relatively) small following yet different and tailor-made for the festival. A+ for effort.
• The Maccabees. Worth every elbow in the face and stamp on the foot.

I await next years festival with huuuuu-awwwge anticipation!

A sort of sequel for “You said ‘Love me when I’m gone’ and now I’m ‘Here without you’”

Light.

And Pete wakes up abruptly, sweaty. No, there isn’t anything, his room is still dark; he squints his eyes to look at the clock, it’s 6 in the morning and he can’t lay down again, he can’t stay still.

So he starts pacing around his messy room, stumbling now in his guitar case, now in a toy of his dog, now in a pair of trousers abandoned on the floor: he hasn’t switched the light on.

He opens the closet and the drawers blindly, emptying them, looking for something even though he didn’t know what either..

Pete starts tapping lightly on the walls, like in trance, brushing his fingers over the rough walls and the smooth posters that adorn his room, then he stops in front of the door and turns facing the window, the curtains moving a bit for the drafts.

A soft snoring from his bed brings him to reality.

He cocks his head to the side like a confused dog: he didn’t remember waking up with another body in his bed.

He slowly moves closer to the bed and the undefined figure sleeping in it; at least he knows it’s a person, but who is it? There isn’t enough light filtering from the windows to enlighten the features.

Pete delicately passes a finger where he thinks there’s a cheekbone, feeling it wet. Only touching it makes Pete sad, without knowing the reason.

The person stirs a bit, murmurs something in the pillow, changes position of sleeping.

Now that Pete’s eyes are more used to the darkness, he’s almost sure there’s Patrick sleeping in his bed. The sensation of sadness is stronger now, he can’t help but start crying, unconsciously.

Pete’s hovering over Patrick, looking at his soft features and at his mouth slightly moving in the sleep; it tempts Pete, he wants to touch them, but he doesn’t want to wake his friend up, so he settles for try listening to what Patrick’s murmuring.

“Pete…car…why…accident…running…away…me…love…”

Patrick’s eyes snap open, fixing on the ceiling while breathing heavily. It startles Pete, who quickly steps back.

More tears run down Patrick’s cheeks, on his neck and on the pillow, following the trails left by old tears. He closes his eyes, trembling more and more till he bursts out crying at the top of his lungs.

This definitely scares and confuses Pete: what the hell happened? What’s wrong, why is Patrick crying?

More than three months have passed, but Patrick can’t forget the last time he saw Pete.

He drove madly, almost blinded by his own tears, looking desperately for Pete while talking to him at the phone, trying to stop him.
He found Pete in his car in front of the mart, his red Clandestine hoodie stained with black tears, the cellphone almost falling from the loosening grip of his weaker hand, the Ativan bottle on his lap, open and empty.
Patrick brought his hands to his mouth, looking in shock at his dying best friend. With shaking hands he dialled the 911,chocking back tears trying to explain what happened, pleading to arrive fast.
He took Pete’s hand between his, praying a God he didn’t believe in to help…the person he loved.
Pete died the minute the ambulance parked near Pete and Patrick’s cars.

And now Patrick is at the cemetery, kneeled down in front of Pete’s grave, covered by fans’ presents,for the first time since the fatal accident.
-Hey Pete… I’m finally here for you…
A hundred days have made me older (your words haunted me for days, for weeks, for months… For three months)
Since the last time that I saw your pretty face (I’m sorry it took me so long to come visiting you)

Every morning Patrick is the first to arrive at school,and he fucking hates it – it’s all his mother’s fault,of course. It’s always too early,and his other classmates aren’t there.
Well,except for one.
But that one creeps the shit out of him: every morning he stays there,sitting at the desk in the furthest corner of the room,a black hoodied mass with only one eye barely visible. That eye scrutinizes everything,though,and fixes on Patrick,not letting him go for one second till the lessons start; sometimes Patrick feels uncomfortable,with holes burning in his neck.
It’s a daily routine: Patrick arrives early,the dude is already there,Patrick sits near the windows and pretends to ignore him while listening to his iPod,the dude observes him from the other end of the classrom,the others arrive,the lesson start.
Patrick is almost sure that even if he arrived even earlier than he always does,the creepy dude would already be there.

This morning he’s woken up determined to face hoodie-guy and ask him to stop staring,thank you very much.
His mother drives him at school and Patrick is left alone in front of the school,mentally repeating his cool speech to say to that creepy dude.
After the stop at the locker,Patrick heads to his first class,takes a deep breath and enters the classroom.
With the corner of the eye he spots the familiar black mass,but keeps ignoring him and goes to sit at his desk.
He’s nervous,you can see it from a mile distance: he’s bounching a knee,drumming his fingers on the desk and chewing the inside of his cheek.
Patrick slowly counts to ten,taking all his bravery to go talk to the guy.
He stands up and makes his way to the other side of the room.
The eye is still fixed on him,following each movement.
The eye widens a bit when Patrick stands in front of him.
-Listen…-Patrick begins.
But he doesn’t continue: the dude doesn’t lay on the desk anymore and takes his hoodie off. Now Patrick can perfectly see dark straight bangs -maybe a bit too greasy- covering one of those deep brown eyes circled by black smudged eyeliner and bags of lack-of-sleep.
For a second Patrick was hypnotized by those eyes,for a second he thought he saw them change color,from black to orange to brown. He blinks,but the eyes are brown.
“Just an impression,” he thinks “maybe the lights…”.
They stare at each other till Patrick remembers that he wanted to say something.
-…Erm…listen… -screw the perfect speech- …I…
-I’m sorry I made you feel uncomfortable -says the dude
-Oh! Ehm,it’s okay… -yeah,sure
-…
-…I’m Patrick,by the way -he stretches his hand out
-I know -the guy says,leaving his hands deep in the pockets of his hoodie
-…and…you are…
-…Pete…
-Nice…to meet you…
Pete just nods.
-Mh,okay… -Patrick drums his fingers on the desk- I…I think I’ll go sit down…
Pete nods.
-Okay,I…go…
Patrick feels Pete’s eyes burn harder on his back when he returns to his desk.

He’s never paid attention before,but now Patrick starts to notice that hood- Pete is always the last to leave the classroom and apparently also school – he’s never been able to check because his mother is already there to pick him up,whenever he’s out of school.
There it is a behavior that his mother and Pete have in common. He feels stalked.

A few days pass and Patrick wants to know a bit more about this Pete dude.
He decides to lie to his mother to have more time at the end of the school to catch up with him and talk.
-Mum,you don’t have to pick me up today,because I have to stay a bit longer at school.
-What for?
-A research.
-Can’t you do it at home like always,using your beloved computer?
-I need the books of the school’s library and may ask my professor for a bit of help.
-But you’re good at school!
-But this theme is a bit difficult,with some philosophy shit and whatnot…
-Language!
-Sorry mum.
-Mh…okay…I’ll pick you up later…
-No,I don’t need it,I can return home by bus.
-Patrick,we’ve already talked about this…
-Yeah,i know,you don’t want me to go around alone in this screwed up city full of dangers and not to be trusted people,but I’m fifteen now,I can take care of myself for…what,half an hour from school to home by bus?

She sighs.

Fall Out Boy frontman Patrick Stump has spoken to Rock Sound after he was arrested in Hollywood earlier this week.

“I was handcuffed on Hollywood Boulevard which is so unbelievably obnoxious,” he said laughing. “I was not read my rights though which was disappointingly different to the movies I’d seen. When I got to the station they took my shoes and belt off me and asked if I was suicidal. I got bailed and got on a plane over here!”

A Fall Out Boy has been arrested. So sayeth The Washington Post (via The AP):

LOS ANGELES — Singer Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy has been arrested on a two-year-old warrant for driving without a valid license.

Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore says the 25-year-old was arrested late Tuesday during a traffic stop by Los Angeles police. He was booked on an outstanding warrant for driving without a license and released early Wednesday after posting $15,000 bail.

…and all for an invalid license? I’m guessing (and this is by no means factual) that his license was probably expired for quite a bit of time. I honestly can’t see what other way his license could potentially be invalid… Chances are it’s not a fake (what would a 25 year old do with a fake?)

All and all, it’s actually, quite oddly, the best fit for a musician of Stump’s stature/image to get tossed in the slammer for a brief period of time. By all means, Fall Out Boy are fairly pop-and-teeny-bop friendly (their music tends to generate such a fan base at the very least, though truth be told their lyrics have some semblance of multiple layers), this kind of grand misdemeanor and the joint bail are on the same level as his stature in the pop realm.

Basically, not terribly offensive, but with the same style of semi-rebelliousness (though the actual crime probably more through thoughtlessness/forgetfulness).

And everyone thought Chris Brown was the clean-and-shiny pop idol out there.

I’m just waiting for some mega-celebrity to have a five-state manhunt with a warrant to arrest for jaywalking that would overtake national news and put everything into perspective…

Yup, Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy got arrested last August 25, 2009 for driving without a license. I drove maybe twice without a license ’cause I forget like everyone else. I never got caught though. That’s because I only drive within a kilometer from our house.

Ok. He’s may being regretting this.
Why has he decided to come to this filthy bar,crowded with not so recommendable people, who’re high and drunk already at six in the afternoon,who’re almost twice or three times himself both for height and weight -at least some of them-,who’re full of tattoos and piercings in the most unthinkable points,surrounded by a steady white-light grey cloud of smoke.

But his friend Joe asked him to totally check his band out.
Friend? oh,yeah,right,because Patrick and Joe met randomly in a border and connected immediately. Patrick was surprised of himself,him being so shy but going along so well with a guy he’s just met -in a library! i mean,wtf?-,who doesn’t have a lot of things in common with him but their love for music and a few other things. And don’t forget that the guy smokes,yes. Pot. And so? Patrick has always refused whenever Joe offered him a joint.

Let’s return to the bar,shall we?
So,Patrick stands there on the door,sometimes he’s pushed here and there by the people entering,while he’s desperately trying to stay on tiptoe to see where the hell Joe is.
It was all Joe’s idea: “Let’s meet inside the Absinth bar,be there quite early because it’s always full,maybe around six it should be fine”. And yeah,Patrick notices how fine it is at six…
Anyway,somehow,a miracle perhaps,Joe spots and bearhugs him,his short and chubby friend,dragging him from a person to another,from the bar to the stage to the offstage.

Behind the scenes there are about ten dudes,shouting to each other where to put the amps or the instruments or “go fuck your sister”,walking nervously from one side to the other,passing quickly in front of Patrick and Joe,not even noticing them standing there.
Joe points to four or five of them,telling Patrick the names of his bandmates,not giving him the time to understand who’s who; he’s kinda sure to have seen who are a Daniel dude and an Andy dude -who,Joe explained,is replacing the drummer for the night-,but he hasn’t figured out who the others are yet,when someone calls Joe from the other side of the room: “Hey Joe,you fucker,move your lazy ass from over there and help us,we’re on in ten minutes!”.
Joe apologizes for leaving Patrick,inviting him to enjoy the show,before heading to the guy that asked oh-so-kindly for his help.
“Hey Patrick!”
Patrick turns,it’s Joe again: “Hold me these for the night,I’ll take ‘em back at the end of the show”. It’s a joint and a lighter; Patrick just shrugs and puts them in the pocket of his hoodie.

He returns in front of the stage,fighting for a good place,ending in the middle of the fifth or sixth row.
The room is hot,the air is tick,the floor is sticky for the beers and God knows what else,the people around are already pushing,and our poor Patrick is hoping with all his heart that they won’t jump and push along with the music.
One last glance at his wrist watch,a push to the glasses on the bridge of his nose and another to his hat,and the lights go dim before the band goes on stage.
The guys enter neatly,fully concentrated,taking their places while adjusting their instruments: first the drummer,then Joe,who plays bass,then three guitarists and finally the singer.
And Patrick stands there,wide eyed,jaw dropping.
He’d totally explain this as his surprise for the difference of age between Joe and his bandmates -he’s 15,just like Patrick,while the others look around their twenties,if not over-,but it won’t justify his bright red cheeks.

Igaz nem sokáig volt a hűvösön Patrick Stump, akit kedd éjfél körül kapcsoltak le a zsaruk Beverly Hills környékén. Stump ugyanis jogosítvány nélkül kocsikázott, amiért előállították és négy órán át fogva tartották. A ma hajnalban szabadon engedett Fall Out Boy frontember egy ilyen menő rendőrségi képpel is gazdagodott, na meg persze egy kis priusszal is.

Arrested for a traffic warrent for driving without a license in LA. Mugshots are funny, look at him he looks like a 12 year old amish kid. Anyways, he posted bail and he is on the move.
