And with the Pats down 21 points, I called it a night. What an awful embarrassment to your franchise

And with the Pats down 21 points, I called it a night.

What an awful embarrassment to your franchise. Your secondary is a fucking joke. Your pass rush, non existent. Your offense clearly no match for the Saints far superior offense.

From thinking that the Pats were a Super Bowl contender to thinking they’ll be ousted in the first or second round of the playoffs. Sure they’ll have a home game during Wild Card weekend since they’ll win their pathetic division, but after that there really isn’t a whole lot to look forward to. Heading to Cincinnati, San Diego or Indianapolis your confidence in the Pats has to have clearly taken a massive hit.

Good thing I went to bed and missed Brady’s second interception. Who the fuck was that pass to? Seriously? Just guns it straight down the field to the other team. What a fucking stupid, stupid play. Hit the bench pal, even better hit the fucking showers.

The only thing worse than watching the massacre on the field (the Pats first real beat down this season for all you optimists) was listening to the awful commentating from Jon Gruden. My buddy’s Toucher and Rich make fun of the “this guy” overuse every Tuesday morning following Monday Night Football, but it’s fucking annoying. “This guy threw for 5,000 yards last season.” “This guy is just making it look easy.” “This is the guy you want in this situation.” Enough already. Get someone in there that isn’t a retard that’s bringing down the entire broadcast.

Just an absolute fucking joke. From everyone in the area (myself included) thinking that the Pats were going to dethrone the “fraud” Saints and they did nothing but waste a trip to New Orleans.

When I initially looked at the schedule this year, I figured the Pats were going to lose three or four games. The losses I marked down were the Colts (check) the Saints (check) and probably one of the Miami games. No way anyone thought they’d lose a game to the Jets or Bills. They squeaked it out in week one against the Bills and followed it up with a shit show at the Meadowlands against the Jets.

They have five games left and the way they played this past week against the Saints you really have to question how they’ll play out. Miami, Buffalo and the Texans on the road with Jacksonville and Carolina at home. Of those games, again based on how they played last night, the Pats could easily finish 10-6. It’s not out of the question the Pats could drop two of those five.

Sorry to be the downer, but seriously that loss just ripped my confidence, completely.

Seriously, where is the Pats defense? What is going on? I’ve never liked the Saints or Drew Brees, but now I don’t know if I should hate them, or love them for exposing all the things we need to fix.

                                                                                                  Ma

Many people, including me, thought the Tennessee Titan’s season was over after a shocking and unpredictable 0-6 start. After 3 close losses to the Steelers, Texans, and Jets followed by 3 blowout losses to the Jaguars, Colts, and Patriots the reeling Titans went into their week 7 bye surrounded by questions and searching for answers. The solution was simply Vince Young. Yes, the same Vince Young who last year had questions swirling about his desire and his mental health, but also the same Vince Young that is a proven winner as a starter in the NFL (23-11 career record as a starter). Young has the Titans on a 5 game winning streak and is poised to make it 6 when the Titans face the Colts in week 12 (which I think is a reasonable possibility). During the 5 game winning streak Young has thrown for 4 touchdowns and ran for another while only accounting for 3 turnovers, but he has received some help from the defense and especially from MVP candidate Chris Johnson (more about Johnson soon). Young’s brightest moment in his NFL career was his game winning 99 yard drive against the Cardinals last week. Young marched down the field, spraying the ball around to many receivers and finally capped off the drive with a touchdown pass to Kenny Britt on fourth down and no time remaining on the clock. Young and the Titans look to ride their new found momentum into next week’s showdown against the Colts.

I think the Titans have a legitimate chance at another 10 game win streak (remember they had one last year). Their last 5 games consist of 3 teams that currently have losing records and a Colts team that has looked human of late and a Chargers team that is the best example of Jekyll and Hyde. Call me crazy, but come this postseason the Titans will be lurking.

Now, my case for who I think should be MVP, Chris Johnson. Other than the obvious things like CJ’s combination of speed and power and his great blocking ability for a guy his size, very few if anyone in the NFL means more to their team than Chris Johnson. He does it all. Here are the stats to support my argument:

1396 rushing yards (1st in the NFL)

294 receiving yards (4th among running backs in the AFC)

9 rushing touchdowns (2nd among running backs in the AFC)

10 total touchdowns (3rd among running backs in the AFC)

The stats speak for themselves.

The Panthers have given me a heart attack… I do not believe in the NY FOOTBALL Giants… so… I am a wayward football fan looking for something to believe in… I watch the synergy and have a hard time rooting against this SAINTS team.

Defense, check… in fact, “brick wall…” THESE boys are swarming…

Watching Tom Brady on his heels is somewhat rewarding.

Why not?

10:57 AS MANNY WOULD SAY, TURN THE PAGE Pats starting a drive down 14 at the start of the fourth quarter. I daresay this is it, or something trending heavily toward it. I believe we used to call this Brady Time. Or maybe that was must me, or maybe no one said it. But it certainly felt like we were gonna score. Today? Maybe not so much, but a touchdown drive would be huge. After missing Sam Aiken for a bomb on the first play, the next two plays go nowhere, and the Saints easily move the ball for a touchdown to put the game out of reach with xxxx 7:49 left. It’s Brees’ fifth touchdown, and to the Pats’ credit, they weren’t out of it until it struck. But it did strike. I would have expected absolutely anything in this game, so I’m not surprised, and I still think the Pats can win the Super Bowl. Can they beat the Saints if they play again? I have no idea how they would, but if they got that far I’m sure they could find a way. Right now it doesn’t look possible, but it’s just one night. The next five teams are the Dolphins, Bills, Panthers, Jags and Texans. We’ll talk about other teams in January. Let’s see what we do with these five.

10:40 I AM NOT IGNORING THE GAME I have largely avoided saying anything, but the Saints are absolutely humming on offense. They scored in no time whatsoever after the Pats touchdown. The Patriots’s secondary is suspect, but Brees is making them look worse than Manning did. Dude just distributes the ball and keeps coming at you. Now, thanks to Sam Aiken, Brady just converted another third down. Whatever the result of this game, this Patriots team looks and feels much more like the 2003-04 bunch than the 2007 crew did. Those teams won with third down conversations, turnovers and breaks. If it’s true that you “make your own luck,” that team had it, and this team seems to have a knack for the opposite. When the 2007 Pats showed up to face the Bills, they got extremely lucky and won; now the old-school team can’t quite get a break on the road, though Ravens fans might disagree. It is unclear if this game is coming down to breaks or execution, but we’re probably a wash on the first and behind in the second. There’s still time, but if the Saints get the ball without the Patriots scoring it could get late out pretty early here, and stay late out very late in New Orleans.

10:22 THERE’S THE MADDENING PART On the flip side of halftime, Laurence Maroney fumbles on the first play because he bowled someone over to get an extra yard. I mean, the Patriots lost to Colts game because he fumbled on a 1-yard run that would have been backbreaking to the Colts, and no one cared. No one in the national media, that is. Sammy Morris replaced him the backfield, and I expect that might last for a while. Morris favors the unspectacular philosophy of “run foward, avoid defenders, and hold onto the ball” that tends to serve Patriots backs fairly well. Maroney may be a good or even great running back, but his style and that of the Patriots’ mesh like two sets of jagged images on vibrating overhead projector. Meanwhile, the Pats recovered a subsequent fumble on the same play—with Maroney the strip—and continue to drive, earning a 1st and goal after some nifty Brady footwork kept him alive long enough to find Moss on a 40-something yard catch. It was a broken play, and the Patriots seem to be up against the wall right up until they execute. The Saints are relentless, but Maroney just popped it in from three yards out. That’ll happen.

9:45: WHOA Laurence Maroney just got knocked well out of bounds while he was running full speed, fell down, and scrambled back to his feet like he was still running. He hit his head pretty hard on the play; did he think he was still in bounds? All the evidence says no, because he smiled and walked back to the huddle, jawing with the Saints. But isn’t the problem that concussions are so prevalent that even stopping the completely obvious ones doesn’t prevent many of the problems? It’s either that or Mauroney is so jacked up to play that he literally couldn’t stop his legs, which is kind of awesome. Mauroney is just a bizarre player. I’ve never seen anyone so unafraid of contact be afraid of the line. It’s like getting to the line is one problem, deciding where to go is another one (hence his legendary happy feet), but going there is not a problem—except maybe for you. He’s absolutely punishing tonight, and he’s seeming to get stronger every game. After all the hype about what he could be, he’s turned into a fascinating, occasionally maddening player who ages like a decent bottle of wine: still fairly good, but slightly different from year to year and a better complementary piece than a show-stopper. But there is time yet. The Patriots have less time. Brady just missed Watson on a 3rd-and-10 and the Pats don’t score going into halftime, and are trailing 24-10.

9:09 IT WOULD BE HARD FOR ME TO PROPERLY REGISTER MY DISGUST WITH THAT BRADY INTERCEPTION So let me get this straight: we stop the Saints around midfield, return a punt to their 40, and on the first play Brady throws across the middle, on the run? That is a baaaaaaaaad decision. On the bright side, I can buy a phone that “trades hairdo for can-do” and is has a name that is licensed to Google by George Lucas. While trying to figure out how to follow this up, the Saints had another 4th-and-1 inside the 20 and went for it, and got it. Good job. They had done something cool with the aforementioned punt, lining up in a standard formation on 4th-and-4 near the 50, then rotating everyone to the punt formation. The idea, I’m guessing, was to keep the Patriots’ punt team off the field, but a) If the Saints didn’t take 4th-and-1 earlier, why would they go crazy with 4th-and 4? and b) Their punt team allowed a 60-yard return, so maybe the moving around messed their concentration. Still, I like the call, and the decision to go for it on 4th-and-1 again. That the decision worked and the punt one decision doesn’t make wrong and one right.

I can’t think of anything to follow that up, so we’re on to the next one…

8:51 OBSERVATIONS PRIOR TO NOW THAT PROMPTED THIS: a) The Saints should have gone for it on 4th and 1 on their first drive, and b) Smart play by Darren Sharper to dive for Maroney’s legs while running beside him; shows that he knows Maroney’s signature move is the stiff-arm and was able to recall it so quickly. Also, Maroney did it once prior to that on the drive. And also, Sharper did it five plays later, only this time he was coming right at Randy Moss, and could have easily sent his kneecap into the stands. Geez. The Saints are pretty much hitting the #### out of the Patriots… who are still driving. They are amped up. I didn’t buy the “Superdome Craziness” argument they were pitching before the game, but seeing as this is the biggest game in their history, I think it was just a difficulty to adjust, on my part. The Saints’ D has the energy, but even on offense, the Patriots are hitting back. Kevin Faulk just ran down the sidelines for 15 yards and instead of going out of bounds, he ran smack into the man in front of him. Then Laurence Maroney bounced off three people on a 2nd and four. Yesterday was billed as the old school, phsyical matchup, but this game is far harder hitting so far. And now the Patriots have 4th and 1 inside the 10. And they’re going for it. Gotta love that symmetry.

Very Simple game plan:

The Patriots will win by one point tonight if they can play Patriot football. Brady will need to extend the field with Moss so that Wes Welker, Kevin Faulk and Lawrence Maroney can be more effective underneath. Given the Saints’ flexible run defense, I think Faulk is going to be a big X factor as the Pats attempt to beat the unbeaten.

The major key to the game is to not let Darren Sharper score a defensive touchdown.

Accomplish that, and we’re looking at a win for the Good Guys.

If Tom Brady and Bill Belichick have said it once they have said it a thousand times “You have

If Tom Brady and Bill Belichick have said it once they have said it a thousand times “You have got to win the turnover battle”, and that is where I think this game will be won.

So Let’s take a quick look at how these teams match up in that category.

INTERCEPTIONS Tom Brady-6, Drew Brees-9 advantage PATRIOTS

FUMBLES Patriots-4, Saints-10 Advantage PATRIOTS

INTERCEPTIONS CAUSED Patriots-13, Saints-20 Advantage SAINTS

FUMBLES RECOVERED Patriots-9, Saints-9 Advantage- EVEN

So it appears that the Patriots have the advantage in this category. A Closer look reveals that the Patriots may have an even bigger advantage in the interceptions thrown category considering Brady throws more passes than Brees so Brady’s interception percentage compared to Bree’s makes it even more clear.

Now having said all of that, I think the Saints defense is better than the Patriots with more playmakers-look out for New Orleans Darren Sharper, who is the Saints version of Rodney Harrison. This is the ultimate test for the Patriots defense.

My prediction? Tune in at 8 O’clock for our pre-game show.

so, they don’t announce the league mvp until like, what? january i think, but so anyway, there’s already been huge controversy between like analysts about who should get the mvp award…manning or favre? now, of course my first reaction is to say manning!! cause i’m such a big Colts fan, but after analyzing everything…i think that i’m going to have to say that mr. brett favre deserves this prize. wow that took alot of effort for me to say (: anyway…yeah, favre has done pretty well this season…if anyone remembers the vikings from last year?? i don’t know what their exact record was, but i know it was a losing one. and now look at them! they have become 10-1 in the blink of an eye, and with some great receivers like percy harvin and a fantastic running back like adrian peterson, who can blame anyone for picking him? yes, peyton has lead the Colts to a so-far-undefeated season, he still has thrown quite a few interceptions, has not been playing as long as brett, and he just isn’t looking like the year’s “perfect candidate”. so, sorry peyton, even tony dungy agrees with me (:

moving on to week 12 summary, despite the game between New Orleans and New England tonight, the week has come to a close, filled with quite a few much needed and close wins, i must say…let’s see…there were 4 games that had a margin of 3 points between a win and a loss…and for the Tennessee Titans and the Baltimore Ravens, that was a much needed win. if either of these teams lost, it meant that any hopes of making the playoffs would pretty much be over. but, both of these teams won yesterday, so their playoff hopes are still alive. not like that really applies to the Colts though! they clinched the AFC South with a win over division rivals, the Texans, and a loss by the Jaguars. Gooooo Colts!

Hmmmm…not much else to say…i’m looking forward to tonight’s game between the Pats and the Saints, although I’m reallyyyyy not a fan of either team…i can’t ever ever ever bring myself to root for the Patriots, so New Orleans, you have my vote. the Giants are most unfortunately so far out of your reach, so, i guess i can root for you. ehhh…go saints? alright… enjoy tonight’s game!

No one is happier about the timing of tonight’s Tom Brady-Drew Brees match-up than Tiger Woods and Elin ”3 iron” Woods. (not only does her slender figure resemble a 3 iron but apparently no one swings a 3 iron with more venom than Elin proven by her connecting with Tiger’s face and the back window of his Cadillac SUV… Tiger knew when he bought that car that he should have spent the added money on that extra-bullet proof glass).

So, yes, it is time to bump Tiger to a later Tee time and now focus all of our attention on tonight’s Patriots-Saints game on Channel 5. Can the Patriots stop the explosive Saints offense? I don’t think so. So can the Patriots outscore the Saints? Good question and one that I will answer in a few hours as we get closer to kick-off and our pre-game show on Channel 5 which will feature an exclusive interview with Tedy Bruschi and Bill Belichick.

So let’s recap what happened the last time the Pats played a team that was known for their incredible offense at the Super Dome in New Orleans. Oh yeah, they won the Super Bowl against the Rams despite being a 14 point underdog.

A different defense this time for the Pats but I foresee the same results.

The Pats are heading into New Orleans as the favorite. So to understand this correctly the Patriots who have yet to win a true road game this year (I don’t count England) are a favorite by 1.5 against the undefeated Saints and arguably the best offense in the NFL? You know what? I’m OK with that.

I’m thinking that the game plan will be very similar to the Rams Super Bowl. Try and confuse Brees as to where that extra guy is coming from. The big issue facing the Pats is, what guys are going to be available. As of Sunday night they had 17 guys listed on their injury report. Of those 17 the list includes Tully Banta-Cain, Ty Warren, Ron Brace, Pat Chung and Jarvis Green. So really where the blitz is coming from is going to depend on the guys available.

On the offense of side (this is killing me to write it) I think that Maroney is going to have a monster game. The way I look at it is this, the Saints are very susceptible to the run. They allow about 115 yards per game on the ground and 4.6 yards a carry. They don’t allow a lot of points total but that’s just because their offense seems to be on the field most of the time.

Brady and the passing game should have success as well considering that if they’re able to establish the dominant run game early it will open up the offense to use the play action that they love so much. Sure the five wide, no huddle has been their bread and butter when they’re really running it up on teams but the play action wasn’t available with guys running for negative two yards and playing dancing queen behind the line.

The over/under is set at 56.5. I think that’s a pretty smart line. Defense is going to be sparse in this game. Of course those are the games that are usually 7-6 at halftime and end 13-10. I don’t think that’s going to be the case. That Pats love playing indoors on the turf and if it weren’t for a depleted defense and a failed fourth and two would have beat the Colts on the turf.

So what do I think is going to happen. The same thing Vegas does. Pats win a close road game and pull out the win in classic Vinatieri style as time expires. Pats win 33-31 on a Gostkowski’s foot this time in the bayou.

. A group made by deported veterans and supporters to network, inform, and advocate for all members

.
A group made by deported veterans and supporters to network, inform, and advocate for all members of all branches of the U.S. Military who serve or have served our nation who face deportation or have been deported by our government.

1. To advocate for the amendment of the Immigration and Nationality Act to include the following:
“The following shall be nationals*, but not citizens of the United States: (1) A person who, by conscription or enlistment, entered any branch of the United States armed forces. This shall be retroactive to servicepersons previously removed from the United States.”

2. Repatriation “Welcome them home”

3. Educational outreach programs to the American People and veterans organizations nationally

*The INA provides that a noncitizen national is “a person who, though not a citizen of the United States, owes permanent allegiance to the United States.” 8 U.S.C. §1101 (a)(22)

I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform noncombatant service in the Armed Forces of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform work of national importance under civilian direction when required by the law; and that I take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; so help me God.

Federal law requires everyone who enlists or re-enlists in the Armed Forces of the United States to take the enlistment oath. The oath of enlistment into the United States Armed Forces is administered by any commissioned officer to any person enlisting or re-enlisting for a term of service into any branch of the military. The officer asks the person, or persons, to raise their right hand and repeat the oath after him. The oath is traditionally performed in front of the United States Flag and other flags, such as the state flag, military branch flag, and unit guidon may be present.

In the Armed Forces EXCEPT the National Guard (Army or Air)

I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.
In the National Guard (Army or Air)

I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States and the State of (STATE NAME) against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the Governor of (STATE NAME) and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to law and regulations. So help me God.

History of the Oath of Enlistment
During the Revolutionary War, the Continental Congress established different oaths for the enlisted men of the Continental Army.
The first oath, voted on 14 June 1775 as part of the act creating the Continental Army, read:
I _____ have, this day, voluntarily enlisted myself, as a soldier, in the American continental army, for one year, unless sooner discharged: And I do bind myself to conform, in all instances, to such rules and regulations, as are, or shall be, established for the government of the said Army.

The original wording was effectively replaced by Section 3, Article 1, of the Articles of War approved by Congress on 20 September 1776, which specified that the oath of enlistment read:
I _____ swear (or affirm as the case may be) to be trued to the United States of America, and to serve them honestly and faithfully against all their enemies opposers whatsoever; and to observe and obey the orders of the Continental Congress, and the orders of the Generals and officers set over me by them.

The first oath under the Constitution was approved by Act of Congress 29 September 1789 (Sec. 3, Ch. 25, 1st Congress). It applied to all commissioned officers, noncommissioned officers and privates in the service of the United States. It came in two parts, the first of which read: “I, A.B., do solemnly swear or affirm (as the case may be) that I will support the constitution of the United States.” The second part read: “I, A.B., do solemnly swear or affirm (as the case may be) to bear true allegiance to the United States of America, and to serve them honestly and faithfully, against all their enemies or opposers whatsoever, and to observe and obey the orders of the President of the United States of America, and the orders of the officers appointed over me.” The next section of that chapter specified that “the said troops shall be governed by the rules and articles of war, which have been established by the United States in Congress assembled, or by such rules and articles of war as may hereafter by law be established.”
The 1789 enlistment oath was changed in 1960 by amendment to Title 10, with the amendment (and current wording) becoming effective in 1962.

These veterans referred to are Lawful Permanent Residents (LPRs). They entered the country lawfully, most if not all of their family members are US citizens or green card holders (LPRs), English is their dominant language and they enlisted in the US military.

“I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”

4. Whereas The Oath of Enlistment is quite similar to the Oath of Citizenship which is also a permanent oath of allegiance to the United States of America and states:
“I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform noncombatant service in the Armed Forces of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform work of national importance under civilian direction when required by the law; and that I take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; so help me God.”

5. Whereas US Military Veterans are currently being deported or have been deported have a long history in the United States:
a. They are legal permanent residents “Green Card Veterans” prior to entering the
military;
b.      They have served in all branches of the military for years;
c. They have served in Vietnam, Grenada, Kosovo, Somalia, Persian Gulf, Iraq,
Afghanistan;
d.      They have lived from16 – 48 years legally in the United States;
e. Their Parents, Spouses, Children, Siblings, Partners are United States Citizens and
Legal Permanent Residents.
f.        They are Business Owners;
g. They are recipients of the GI Bill

6.      Whereas they are subject to removal or have been removed due to criminal convictions;

7. Whereas the U.S. has a duty to protect those who protected it, regardless of their personal character. The United States now, and historically, has treated aliens admitted for an indefinite period, whether as lawful permanent residents, refugees, or asylees, as other countries would treat noncitizen “nationals” or subjects.” It requires these individuals to submit to the draft, to have an allegiance of political loyalty to the United States subjecting them to the death penalty for betraying that allegiance, and itself treats the individuals when in uniform as American nationals for a variety of purposes, including American jurisdiction in its Status-of-Forces Agreements.

8. Whereas the removal of veterans, particularly those who served during times of hostility, present a number of problems that the removal of other aliens do not:
(1)     There is a moral question as to whether the character flaws and, in some instances, the commission of a crime, that would lead to denial of citizenship, are themselves the result of the psychological stress of service in war;
(2)     There is the possible loss of native citizenship rendering the individual stateless;
(3) There is the possibility of criminal charges awaiting the alien in their native land for his service in the war; and
(4) There is possible exposure to the jurisdiction of the ICC (even though the US doesn’t partake) or the courts of their native lands for alleged war crimes committed while in an American uniform.

Therefore be it resolved that the National Lawyers Guild calls upon the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate to amend the United States Code to clearly state
“The following shall be nationals*, but not citizens of the United States: (1) A person who, by conscription or enlistment, entered any branch of the United States armed forces. This shall be retroactive to service persons previously removed from the United States.”

Be it further resolved National Lawyers Guild calls upon the Department of Homeland Security to stay their removal from the United States of America;

Be it further resolved that the National Lawyers Guild will establish an NLG Banished Veterans Committee open to all members to coordinate action by the NLG in support of legislation to clearly state that US military servicemembers are noncitizen nationals and petition the Department of Homeland Security to stay their removal from the United States of America, to work with national and grassroots impeachment organizations, and to provide legal assistance for those efforts to strengthen the national campaign; and

Be it further resolved that the NLG Banished Veterans Committee will help organize and coordinate events at the local, state, and national level to build public participation in the campaign to educate the public, to push for enactment of legislation and a stay of removal for these veterans without further delay; and

Be it further resolved that the NLG Banished Veterans Committee will coordinate and assist all willing NLG members in contacting their respective members of Congress to urge support of the legislation to ask their respective member of Congress to support upcoming legislation, (bill numbers to be announced) and request the Department of Homeland Security to stay the removal of the US military veterans; and

Be it further resolved that the National Lawyers Guild calls on all other state and national bar
associations, state and local government bodies, community organizations, labor unions to adopt similar resolutions and to use all their resources to build the campaign to clearly state that US military servicemembers are noncitizen nationals and petition the Department of Homeland Security to stay their removal from the United States of America; and

Be it further resolved that the National Lawyers Guild will forward a copy of this resolution to
the Speaker and the Clerk of the US House of Representatives, to Representative John Conyers,
Chair of the House Judiciary Committee, to Representative Bob Filner, Chair of the House Veteran Affairs Committee, to the various state and federal bar associations, to other peace and justice organizations, other military organizations, and to the news media.

Implementation: By the NLG Banished Veterans Committee established by this resolution, by the National Immigration Project, by the Military Law Task Force, by the San Diego NLG Chapter and by interested local chapters.

While Obama and his loathsome administration and congress busy themselves coddling our enemies and extending our constitutional rights to the foreign murderers of Americans, while they dilly around trying to avert attention from the horrific results of political correctness at Fort Hood, while they secretly make plans to turn our troops over to international courts for trumped charges of war crimes – the men and women of the greatest military in history carry on with their duty. They continue to fight, risk and sacrifice life and limb for the preservation of the nation that allows an accidental president to stand by while some of the elite of the elite face criminal charges for carrying out orders and fulfilling duty.

But, but Bubba … don’t you think there’s more to the story than what we’ve learned so far? Maybe. Maybe these three SEALS crossed a line somewhere …

As Americans, we CANNOT stand for this and MUST show our support for our troops who are constantly being put in harms way to protect the country that is now bringing them under fire.
As most of you already know, some of our military’s most elite, the Navy SEALs are under fire from the US Government for none other than bloodying the lip of one of the most wanted terrorists in Irag – the alleged mastermind of the murder and mutilation of four Blackwater USA security guards in Fallujah in 2004. And three of the SEALs who captured him are now facing criminal charges.

This story was taken from Fox News.

The three, all members of the Navy’s elite commando unit, have refused non-judicial punishment — called a captain’s mast — and have requested a trial by court-martial.

Ahmed Hashim Abed, whom the military code-named “Objective Amber,” told investigators he was punched by his captors — and he had the bloody lip to prove it.

Now, instead of being lauded for bringing to justice a high-value target, three of the SEAL commandos, all enlisted, face assault charges and have retained lawyers.

Matthew McCabe, a Special Operations Petty Officer Second Class (SO-2), is facing three charges: dereliction of performance of duty for willfully failing to safeguard a detainee, making a false official statement, and assault.

Petty Officer Jonathan Keefe, SO-2, is facing charges of dereliction of performance of duty and making a false official statement.

Petty Officer Julio Huertas, SO-1, faces those same charges and an additional charge of impediment of an investigation.

Neal Puckett, an attorney representing McCabe, told Fox News the SEALs are being charged for allegedly giving the detainee a “punch in the gut.”

I smell a hot delicious bowl of fucking super this year for the New Orleans Saints.

Tomorrow will be their toughest game yet: the New England Patriots. While the Saints do have home field advantage, the Patriots are peaking late in the season, despite their close loss to the Colts. What does this mean? Patriots don’t have the added pressure of a perfect season, and they are probably going to beat the Colts in the playoffs, like always. But if the Saints do lose tomorrow (and I suspect that it will be a close game) maybe the Patriots will have just lifted the perfect season burden from New Orleans so that the Saints can focus on winning their first Superbowl.

Get ready for a great game tomorrow.

Quarterback Drewe Brees is statistically the best QB in the game having one of the best years of any signal called since N.E.’s Tom Brady shattered records in 2007. Offensively the Saints are in a class by themselves. Defensively, they can hold their own. The special teams have been solid. Through 10 games, N.O. has only punted the ball 34 times. There’s been no need to.

I have a new team this week in the 2 hole. The Vikings are my pick here. Minnesota has looked machine like lately and with the Colts struggling, although winning, the Vikings deserve the spot. QB Brett Farve looks like a 20-something year old signal caller.

Can he keep it going for six more weeks ? I’m not sure at 40-something. But if he does slip up, there is always Adrian Peterson to run the ball. Heading into the playoffs, Minnesota looks like a complete team. With a bye in the offing for the Vikings and homefield advantage at this point until the NFC title game, the Vikings are basically assured of playing all of their games indoors in the playoffs.

I understand the Colts are 10-0 right now, but its a weak undefeated record. And yes, it is what it is. I’m a firm beleiver in that. But my eyes tell me the Colts are right for the picking. Two weeks ago, N.E. should have beaten the Colts in Indy. Last week, gthey slipped past Baltimore, a game they should have lost as well, 17-15. As this is being typed, the Colts trail Houston, 20-7 at the half.

The Patriots are in the 4 slot. Since Bill Belichick came to N.E in 2001, the Patriots are 74-18 in games played after Thanksgiving. Thats an 80% winning average when games mean the most. But N.E. needs a win on Monday night against the Saints to show the rest of the league they are a contender. The Patriots have yet to win a quality game on the road this year. If you think back to last year, the Patriots struggled on the road as well, going 11-5 and mising the playoffs.

We should know a lot more by midnight on Monday on how this is going to shake out.

With that being said, here are the BSD NFL Power Rankings:

1) Saints 10-0

2) Minnesota 9-1

3) Colts 10-0

4) Patriots 7-3

5) San Diego 7-3

6) Dallas 8-3

7) Cincinnati 7-3

  Arizona 7-3

9) Green Bay 7-4

Dr. Harris PastidesPresident, USC

Dear Dr. Pastides,

I read your editorial in the Greenville News, November 26th with great interest. I agree with you that Americans need to keep as much civility as possible when discussing the great, and often volatile, issues of out times.

I do take exception to one characterization you have made and ask you to consider my view of the matter. You wrote, in part “Hecklers financed by special interests have disrupted town halls and forums across the country …”

Sir, I believe you have misunderstood the phenomenon you are observing; and, you have been misinformed about the financial arrangements. I have been to a number of “town hall” meetings by Senator Lindsey Graham and several members of Congress. I have also attended numerous “tea party” events around South Carolina as well as trips to Washington, D.C. on 9/12 and again on 11/5 of this year. Members of Congress spoke at most of these events and the reception they received ranged from tumultuous applause, (for Jim DeMint) to, in at least one case, exchanges of shouted barbs.

I wish to make two points. First, much that you see merely as a lack of civility, is, in reality, a deep seated frustration. It is frustration at not being listened to. The citizens of South Carolina have seen Congressmen Bob Ingles, Gresham Barrett, and Senator Lindsey Graham, attending meetings to tell us what must be done because they, rather arrogantly, believe they are better informed and just plain smarter than we are.

Dr. Pastides, if I addressed you, in the manner these “public servants” have addressed us, you would probably not still be reading.

The frustration is deepened by the fact these Congressmen and this Senator, have rather arrogantly forgotten just who pays their salary. They have forgotten they work for us sir!

Instead of listening to the will of the people, they want to marginalize their detractors by saying they are “bigots” or supporters of one failed Presidential candidate, or otherwise out of the mainstream – therefore, their opinion does not count. The folks inside the beltway know best. The unwashed masses need to just shut up, and go meekly about the business of being good little Politically Correct serfs.

It is that attitude of condescention, arrogance, and derision, that has driven the rank and file American voter to record levels of cynicism, frustration, and (justified I believe) anger. When you are not being listened to by the very people who are supposed to represent you, it is natural to get more than a little frustrated and raise your voice.

So, yes sir, you did see folks raising their voices in anger, and displaying a lack of decorum. I suggest this is not because of any deficiency in their education, upbringing or breeding, but because they were sorely provoked. If that anger is not justified, it is at least understandable. And if the ruling elites who really are “financed by special interests” don’t get the message; there will be even more uncivil discourse, not less.

This brings me to my final point Dr. Pastides. You claimed the folks disrupting town halls, friends of mine, were “financed by special interests.” You have been completely misinformed about that sir. The angry Americans coming to town hall meetings, and who went to Washington, D.C. both times, were not financed by anyone but themselves. They would be insulted by your implication that they could be bought.

The kind of passion you have seen comes from the heart, and from deep frustration; not from any mercenary interest. The people who went to Washington, D.C. did so at their own expense. Those younger than retirement age, had to take time off from work or away from businesses they own. That means, not only were they not paid to be there; they lost real money in order to do something they believe just may save this country from a slide into socialism.

Probably less than 3% of the people who went on the bus trips to Washington, mostly senior citizens, were financially unable to afford the trip. There were businessmen in town who could not be away from work obligations who paid for a few folks to go in their place. Not big corporations either, family physicians and college professors, mostly. There was no corporate money, no party money, no PAC money, and none of our people benefited from any grants by a 501 (c)(3) foundation, or some group like ACORN.

In my own case, I did not have a trip to Washington, D.C. in my family budget. The economic downturn has hit me as hard as anyone. A friend paid for my bus ticket on 9/11 and I lost money being away from my home based business two days. On the second trip to Washington, a different friend called me, said he was taking his SUV to Washington, and there was an empty seat I could sit in. He really wanted me to go. I did chip in $20 for gasoline once, and I am quite sure that was less than my full share, so once again I was subsidized by a few dollars.

None of us were paid a penny to be there and all of us lost money, and time with our families, in order to do something we believe is making our country stronger and keeping it free. I will be 59 years young this coming Tuesday. Riding all night in an SUV, or a bus with a bunch of strangers, was very uncomfortable, and the sleep deprivation was not really good for my health. Still, it was better than sleeping on the ground as I did the last time I had to fight communism, in Vietnam. Oh yeah, all those strangers on that bus, and in that SUV…. we are friends now! And we are getting organized. You ain’t seen any lack of civil discourse yet!

Respectfully,

With Tom Brady this week having moved his weekly presser to the more manageable media room (don’t think that Randy Moss and his angry preferences didn’t have a LOT to do with that), the question remains can Brady on Monday night move around in the pocket long enough (to connect with what would be a very happy Moss) to hand the Saints their 1st loss of the year.

The Saints are good, and explosive offensively, but they are a little suspect defensively, not a lot but a little. Everyone is predicting a high scoring shootout. I don’t think so, tho I do think the Saints will score close to their average of 36.9/pts a game. The question is can the Patriots put up those type of numbers? What do you think?

I’ll let you know my thoughts tomorrow as we get closer to game time, a game you can see right here on Channel 5, pre-game at 8pm

Indy @ Houston – The Texans are 3 point underdogs in this game. I’m taking the points and Houston to pull off an upset.

Cleveland @ Cincinnati – The Bengals are 13 point favorites. That’s a lot to cover for an in state rivalry. As bad as the Browns are – I think they cover. Taking them with the points.

Chicago @ Minn – The Vikings are 10.5 point favorites in this game. I like them winning big. Taking Brett and giving the points.

Washington @ Philly – The Eagles are 9.5 point favorites in this game. I am actually going to be rooting for the Redskins this week so we get more separation in our division from Philly. I think the eagles win – but don’t cover. I’m taking the Skins with the points.

Miami @ Buffalo – The Dolphins are 3.5 point favorites. I like them to win this. Giving the points and taking the Dolphins.

Arizona @ Tennessee - The Titans are 2 point favorites in this game. I honestly think AZ looses their first game on the road this season and Vince Young keeps the run going. Taking the Titans with the points.

Seattle @ St. Louis – The Seahawks are 4 point favorites. I’m taking them and giving the points to beat the Rams.

Tampa Bay @ Atlanta – The Falcons are 12 point favorites. I like the Bucs in this. Josh Freeman will get better each week. Taking the points and the Bucs to cover.

Carolina @ New York Jets – The Jets are 3.5 point favorites in this game. I like the Panthers. Taking the points and panthers to win.

Jacksonville @ San Fran – The 49ers are 3 point favorites in this game. I could go either way in this game, but I’m giving the edge to Gurrard over Smith. Taking the points and the Jags to cover.

Kansas City @ San Diego - The Chargers are 14 point favorites in this game. I like them to win, but not by that much. I’m taking the Chiefs with the points.

Pittsburgh @ Baltimore – The Ravens are 7.5 point favorites in this game. With Big Ben out – I think the Ravens should win this. I think Tomlin however will find a way to keep it close. Taking Pittsburgh with the points.

New England @ New Orleans – The Saints are 2 point favorites in this game. They’ve been exposed too many times by bad teams (even though they found ways to win) to keep their streak alive. I think it ends tomorrow. Bill and Tom take care of the Saints and cover. Taking the Pats with the points.

Two Battles Won: PATRIOT Reform AND State Secrets Reform Bills Pass House Committee
Deeplink by Kevin Bankston
After a long two days of legislative battle, the House Judiciary Committee just finished its second day of debate on Chairman Conyers’ PATRIOT reform bill, HR 3845 (see our wrap-up of the first day). Thanks in no small part to those of you who used our action alert, the Committee rejected almost all amendments that would have weakened the bill’s reforms and voted to recommend the bill to the House floor by a vote of 16 to 10.

Even better, the Committee kept going after it was finished with PATRIOT to consider Representative Nadler’s State Secret Protection Act (HR 984), which would reform the state secrets privilege that the government has repeatedly used to try and throw EFF’s warrantless wiretapping cases out of court. After an impassioned defense by Mr. Nadler, who described how the government has used the privilege like a “magic incantation” to cover-up wrongdoing and warned that state secrecy “is the greatest threat to liberty at present,” the bill passed with even better numbers than the PATRIOT bill, 18 to 12!

It was, to say the least, a busy couple of days in the House Judiciary Committee. If you want the entire blow-by-blow of both day’s meetings, check out our Twitter stream at @EFF.

Admittedly, the PATRIOT bill isn’t all we had hoped for — as we described yesterday, it’s been weakened in a number of ways due to quiet pressure from the Obama Administration — but it passed through the Committee with most of its major reforms intact, and it is a substantial improvement over the PATRIOT bill approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee last month. Meanwhile, the state secrets reform bill made it through the committee without being watered down at all, with only a few technical changes. Thanks and congratulations to the representatives and activists that worked so hard to make that happen.

Eyes now turn to the Senate, where the Senate Judiciary Committee’s PATRIOT Bill (S. 1692) will soon land on the floor, and to the House Intelligence Committee, which will soon be marking-up its own competing PATRIOT bill with much fewer reforms (HR 3969). So, the war is far from over. But two important battles were won today.

Just think on that day not too long ago when he was Senator Obama, he promised us a Nay on H.R.6403 he lied. Yea he electronically voted since the Senate could give two S**TS about our Fourth being redacted. i despise them for that.
