It sure is a good feeling to get back to shore after you’ve done your duty on the platform .

It sure is a good feeling to get back to shore after you’ve done your duty on the platform . After working offshore for a month with only the ocean, drills and oil in your sites. What’s a man to do when he get’s to go back to shore? - Hit the bars in a country with lots and lots of bargirls ! You want it, you asked for it.

Alot of guys that take leave in places like Thailand or the Philipines have girlfriends they’re supporting while their working offshore. If they’re lucky they’ll find themselves an honest woman that will do their best to take care of them. – But what about the rest? Let’s admit it we aren’t exactly finding these girls in the best of places. I mean c’mon a street bar in a heavily touristed area, where there’s literally hundreds if not thousands of guys just like you walking around. You think these girls are innocent amateurs? No my man, they are seasoned professionals well versed in the art of pulling your heart strings and dollar bills.

So you think you’ve found the one and only girl you can ever be with, she says things you’ve never experienced back in your home country, and always knows the right things to say. I bet she even knows what to say to keep you quiet when she wants you to be. You think you’re the one in control and feel like the man, when it’s exactly the opposite? Just think about it, are you really the first guy that she’s been with? But then how does she know how to speak English so well then? Ok , Ok she’s not the same as the rest she’s edumacated and is only working in the bar while she goes to school to pay for classes. (yeah right)

So now it’s time to go back offshore while your special girl stays home and waits for you to get back. While you were with her did she ever have strange phone calls in the middle of the night? Did she ever speak English to someone on the phone? Does every other call end up being her brother or sister? Does she often put her phone on silent, and why doesn’t she answer the phone when you call- oh, she didn’t hear the phone, the phone wasn’t with her or she was in the shower.

They have a saying: ‘When there’s doubt, there is no doubt – you’re definately getting played”….So its time to take matters into your own hands and see just what the real deal is.

So now your starting to question just whether or not the girl you’ve taken so kindly to is rea

So now your starting to question just whether or not the girl you’ve taken so kindly to is really the one and if she’s being honest with you. Are you the only one or does she have a handful of sponsors throwing money at her from every direction? After all you’re offshore most the time and don’t have a clue what she’s up to, or atleast you think you do.

There’s a way you can find out now without a doubt just what she’s up to. What if I were to tell you there was a way to listen to every call she makes on a mobile phone and read every message that gets sent both in and out of her mobile phone. Oh yeah it’s for real but not only this, you can track her location via GPS and actually bug her phone to see what she’s doing when the telephone is just laying on the table. She says she’s at home, but then you activate ‘Spy Call’ and it sounds like she’s in a club, go figure.

There are software programs designed to be installed on mobile phones that are called either spyware or spy tools, installed on a phone the phone is now called a spy phone. Software makers such as Flexispy have formed a team of mobile software developers to give you these powers. The newest smart phones and pocket pc’s such as iphone, Blackberry, Android, Windows Mobile and Nokia Symbian are all at Flexispy’s mercy. The company has dissected the operating systems to enable full spy capabilities that turn these phones into a spy device capable of the most intricate types of eavesdropping and mobile tracking via GPS.

Keep on reading the next article because there’s a lot more to learn.

These products from Flexispy are professional grade spy tools, designed to be used in the most deman

These products from Flexispy are professional grade spy tools, designed to be used in the most demanding environments where staying undetected is of utmost importance. To install the spy ware to the mobile phone which will be monitored, you simply access the internet with the phone’s web browser and point to the Flexispy download site. From there you enter the authorization code into the required field, press ok then it downloads automatically.

After the installation you’ll need to setup the program and set the monitor number. The monitor number is your own phone number, it is the phone that will be used to call into the target phone to tap calls and eavesdrop as well as being the recipient for SIM card change notifications.

Once you have set the monitor number, you must choose if you would like to activate the GPS tracking function. There are a number of different functions to choose from as well as settings, and this is why I recommend Flexispy. Out of all the spy ware programs available, Flexispy is the only truly remote operated spy tool available that gives you virtually complete control of almost all of its functions. Which means that you only have to have access to the phone once, from then on everything is done by remote control by sending simple SMS text messages into the target phone to take control. Yeah, I know – COOL.

So what exactly can Flexispy do? The main feature is something called ‘Call Intercept’ , this enables you to dial into a current conversation as it is happening. When a call is placed or received the Flexispy software takes the name from the phone’s contact list and sends a message to the monitor phone containing both the name and number of the caller. After you receive the message you just dial the target’s phone and are silently patched through and able to listen to everything that is being spoken, sweet.

The next awesome feature is the ‘Spy Call’ function…This function allows you to listen to whats happening in the same room when the telephone isn’t being used. The phone acts like a bugging device and picks up all sounds in close proximity, from face to face conversation to any little sound, moan or groan that is being made. It will catch it.

Another very powerful feature is the GPS function. This feature allows you to track the target as they move around from location to location and sends the updated coordinates to the Flexispy server where the data can be pulled up any time by the user. In the event immediate information is needed, the web account can be configured to send the information to the users email address then relayed one more time to the users mobile phone number. When logged into the web account, the coordinates can be viewed on a map provided by the Flexispy web account for easy acquisition of the target’s location.

The fourth most powerful feature is the SIM card change notification. If the target tries to change the SIM card, the Flexispy software records the new phone number and sends details of the new phone number being used to the monitor telephone. The spy ware remains stable and completely functional, all you have to do is dial the new phone number and it’s like nothing ever happened.

Flexispy comes in 3 main packages all 3 levels come with a secure web account as well as sms and call activity recording, the Pro version offers slightly higher features and includes the ‘Spy Call’ function. The Pro-X version includes everything the Pro version has and also includes ‘Call Interception’ as well as GPS tracking. These 3 levels of options are the best in the business and include remote capabilities. Some specific spy ware platforms even include the ability to be remotely removed from the phone leaving no traces of the program, giving you a smooth getaway.

Oh I forgot to mention, when you run into the next love of your life, the software is still valid, simply deactivate your old girl and reactivate your new girl. Go through as many woman as you like within a 1 year period, Flexispy will always be at your side.

It’s been very busy… and I still haven’t finished writing about Vietnam which we left over a week ago. Promise promise promise to write every day this week!! And more photos to follow v soon…

Sandwiched In A Really Teeny Weeny Tuk-Tuk

We have met up with Ian, chilled for a few days in Bangkok, eaten most of the ten huge Green & Blacks bars he brought out with him (our first proper choc since too long)*, been repeatedly massaged into glorious oblivion, and then moved on to Pattaya.

We stayed for 3-4 nights at the lovely Suk 11 in Bangkok, which had been recommended by the lovely Violet Dear whom we met in Indonesia. She was spot on. Suk 11 is a beautifully dark and cosy Arabian nights style hostel with pokey corners and delicious free breakfast. Plus there was a hospital right next door where I could get my stitches out, so the whole thing was completely painless (almost).

Stitches Out!!

Loved our cocktail night at The Banyan Tree’s stunningly beautiful rooftop bar Vertigo (check out the picture on the link – oooooh pwetty). We sort of surpassed our daily budget by cocktail round no.3 but, hey who’s counting?? Oh, Will actually. Doh.

Quick Catch Up – Final days in and musings on Vietnam -

1. We had an absolutely yummylicious meal at Quan An Ngon, which I highly recommend. Wonderful Vietnamese food in beautiful surroundings at easy prices.

2. One thing I noted whilst travelling around Vietnam was the use of glass panels in toilets to make every toilet cubicle effectively see-through! I have never seen this anywhere else, but here every other public toilet seemed to be a peep show.

3. The Vietnamese hotel hospitality was wonderful. Even the cheapest rooms always give you a fresh towel, new soap and a new toothbrush and toothpaste. We were so spoiled with our bathroom condiments.

4. Em, Clary – Thought of you when we saw “Very Good” Popcorn at a service station somewhere in the middle of nowhere very much. Velly velly good.

Tanktastic

5. The War Remnants Museum in Ho Chi Minh was a very good exhibition showing the shocking human and political atrocities of the Vietnam War. Most interesting were photo accounts of the war, particularly those of English photo journalist Larry Burrows who revealed to the American public the true depictions of the war whilst it was happening. Other displays included horrific images of the effects of Agent Orange and other chemicals on both people at the time and now, with the sadly continuing legacy of birth defects. Some of the images were exceptionally harrowing. We were very grateful to spend 10 minutes at the end looking around a final display of cartoons and drawings of peace which had been created by young Vietnamese school children.

Apparently when the Vietnamese went to set up the museum many countries donated many exhibits, propoganda posters, photos etc. and it was only the US who charged them monies!! The museum itself is currently under refurbishment so several display areas were not accessible. Hopefully they will also sort out the air con / fan issues in there as it was swelteringly hot when we were looking around. I was very grateful for my Burmese paper fan!!

6. I am now a complete Wire convert and addict. We were v lucky to pick up some bargain DVD collections in Ho Chi Minh, including the complete series of The Wire and the complete works of Woody Allen. I am sooooo happy and Will and I hardly speak anymore.

7. I was lucky to pick up a krama scarf in Ho Chi Minh, and I am trying to pull off European chic with my various neck ties.

8. Oh, we love you Air Asia, we really do. But why oh why did you have to be so silly about weighing everything at Ho Chi Minh?? Our bags weighed the same as they had on every other lovely Air Asia flight (plus maybe a wafer thin DVD or two, and a scarf here, a scarf there…) Let’s still be friends. And then we’ll also forgive you the terrifying flight into Bangkok…

9. We had a terrifying flight into Bangkok. All fine and dandy until we suddenly started losing altitude very quickly. And then all of a sudden out of the blue bit of turbulence / dodgy mid-air manoeuvre which jolted the whole plan sideways quite substantially, throwing a poor air hostess into an empty seat. It was actually quite scary. Happy to finally land. And then noted the 77-year old looking pilot. Even happier to have finally landed.

Back to Thailand -So now here we are again in Thailand. And as I was saying, we spent a few days in Bangkok then we headed on to Pattaya. There we spent 4 days or so dealing with the practical issues we needed to get through with Ian (who was, and is, amazing), and met a lot of Neil’s friends, both Western expats and Thais who were all so welcoming and lovely. Also tried to have some fun, mainly goggling intriguingly at the ubiquitous and blatant sex tourists, and drinking endless ma pao (coconuts). Highlight of Pattaya was definitely the amazing Tiffany’s ladyboy cabaret show which Ian was especially keen we took in (“you can see the emptiness, the sadness behind their eyes” – he really sold it). We all particularly loved ladyboy Tina Turner. Fascinating to watch. Very hard to tell what is what. Definitely subverts gender expectations and messes with your mind!!

Had dinner a couple of times at gorgeous Mantra. THE best pumpkin soup any of us had ever had. And then some. In fact, worth booking a flight out to Thailand just to go here and taste this. So many depths of flavour, so silky, so divinely mmmmm. Caused Will to ask at one point, “What came first, the pretension or the soup?” Plus, they had toothpicks with mint herbs stuck on the end. How genius is that??? Answer: very.

In Pattaya everything is a go go. They even have a JoJo bar a go go. And now we have a gone gone back to Bangkok. Here we are chilling for 5 days whilst Ian does his massage course at Wat Po, I do some writing and Will just generally arses about. Hee hee. Oh, and we need to wait for our Cambodia visas.

Staying at Shanti Lodge, 15 mins or so from the uber-hyped Khao San Road. Receives mixed reviews online but we like it. Ian loves the vegetarian restaurant, and we love the free wifi. Rooms are fairly small (especially as the three of us were in a tiny double room with extra bed pushed in last night. But we move today to larger room with balcony and big fish in a tank) and a tad overpriced, but the communal areas are lovely lovely chilled and happy. The passion punch smoothie is amazing. Oh, and Bangkok National Library is at the end of the road which is just the place I’m planning to be most of this week. SO fortuitous that it is literally 1 minute walk away. You couldn’t have planned that. The travelling fairy is shining down upon us. Now, I just need to find where she put the ma paos around here…?? xx

* Many of you will also be pleased, and not surprised, to hear that Ian brought out a tupperware container of his delicious homemade houmous, as well as a salad his dad had made, and an English apple segmented perfectly within its foil casing, for us all to enjoy. Lovely. Ian is a big lovely pile of houmous.

When sultry beaches and beautiful water is your bag, then Pattaya is a must for every visitor to Thailand or the region to see. The city's name comes from the Thai to the south-west winds blow, that in every year to signal the beginning of the rainy season.

What can be more than one million visitors who descend on Pattaya each year to surprise in their quest for carnal sandy beaches and exotic recreation that the city, as we know it did not exist 40 yearsbefore.

For centuries a small fishing village, Pattaya was virtually unknown to outsiders, where a traditional way of life in the safety of the quiet bay. Before the 1960s, caught nearly 100 families from their meager livelihoods in these pristine waters.

It was the Vietnam War heated up, that the forces that would change forever Pattaya. As more and more American soldiers to Southeast Asia, Air Force and Army bases have been sent began to sprout in the vicinity.

More often than notThese soldiers could not get enough time to do during their leisure hours of the long journey to Bangkok. So she began exploring the Pattaya beach.

Savvy entrepreneurs quickly realized there was a growing market of thirsty, horny soldiers who would be paid in hard currency, have to satisfy their appetite.

The result was a steadily growing stream of bars, hotels, clubs and restaurants, would be a sleepy village in one of the hottest tourist destinations in the changeWorld!

Who would have thought 50 years ago that they were sleepy fishing on what will one day some of the finest tourist homes throughout Asia is?

As Pattaya is a new city, it does not have any of the ancient temples and statues that are the cornerstone of most Thailand tourist experiences. This is truly a place where you spend your days relaxing on the beach and your nights looking for love want.

Most likely to spendour days diving in crystal clear water, or casually on the three main beaches of Pattaya, Jomtien and Wong Prachsan.

This is all well and good, but at the end of the day what the point in your beautiful body bronzing products if you are not trying to maintain an action on your attraction.

We know that some of the best girls are really young. If you have your men with tits up, North and Central America, Pattaya, what you are looking for. Just be careful, manyof transvestites and transsexuals shows draw a crowd just be so sure, the cute boys ask if they are friends of Dorothy, before you make your move too! This "show girls" size matters, and many of them have great songs to satisfy almost any Oral Fixation. The Tiffany Show, the famous transvestite show in Thailand and also host of the annual transsexual beauty contest. It opens early at 6:30 clock and open late

Many T-shirts in Pattaya have the right toMotto: Good boys to heaven, bad guys go to Pattaya. True to life, Pattaya is a piece of heaven for good guys and bad guys. We can not wait until you see it with all the other beach goers to!

Many enterprising farangs are turning their backs on the bright lights of Bangkok’s famous nana plaza and the crusty streets of Pattaya sex scene in order to save a few bucks!

You see over the past decade I’ve been waving my fists about it and warning people to almost no avail, Bargirl inflation will hit!!! And slowly but surely it has! Yes, it’s hit Expats and two week tourists. It could be likened to a mini credit crunch for Thailand whoremongers. It’s here and most expats and their tourist counterparts are now reaping what they have sown! Ha!

Bar girls are now demanding ridiculous sums of money for short time! Yes, 1,000 baht and more, this is outrageous, in fact there should be a law against it!

So what is the soloution. You could hop into Cambodia and get a decent deal there. A few years back I got laid for $5us whether it’s gone up or not I’m not sure. Though the girl I shagged was Vietnamese with a great pair of banana tits! However, what about the guys who just want to stay in Thailand, what’s the answer to this dilema?

The answer is simple, you’re gonna have to move out of the bars and the islands and go hunting for cheap sex in the kareoke bars and massage parlours of the northeast. The cheapest sex to be found here is with girls 30 years and upwards.

There are plenty of more mature women who are willing to service farang guys here, without the price tag! You should be able to get sex for about 500 short time.

Now some of these girls aren’t lookers yes, but beggars can’t be choosers now can they? Anyway most of them will happily smoke your cigar, though they tend not to look so pleased when it’s been unexpectedly sick in there

Thailand is Hong Kong’s backyard paradise. Primarily because of its close proximity and relatively i

Thailand is Hong Kong’s backyard paradise. Primarily because of its close proximity and relatively inexpensive airfare, many people from Hong Kong enjoy visiting for a short getaway. Thus, almost every tour agency in Hong Kong offers trips to Thailand. My friends and I booked a trip a few weeks ago for $300 USD through Hong Thai tour group. This included: airfare, hotel accommodations, bus transportation, and most activities for 4 nights/5 days. It’s been years since I’ve taken a tour group vacation, so I was expecting a tour similar to one that I took in Japan around 6 years ago; a very typical tour that you’re probably imagining…

However, there is something very interesting about Hong Kong tours in Thailand that was literal culture shock. Not in a negative way, but in a very surprising and innovative way! Since so many Hong Kong people visit Thailand, tour agencies work together to cater to the Cantonese-speaking tourists. Essentially, all of the Hong Kong-Thailand tours are similar and visit the same destinations. At these places, everyone – including the Thai workers – speak Cantonese. The tour groups visit the same places: monkey shows, elephant trekking areas, parasailing docks, boat trips to certain islands, restaurants etc. During the entire tour, you never have to speak any other language except Cantonese.

For example, we went on a full day boat trip to Coral Island in Pattaya, and it was filled with 95 percent Hong Kong tourists. The only boats docking at this particular island were Hong Kong tour groups. It almost felt like the island was “owned” by one parent company. The same goes with the monkey show and elephant trekking village, all owned and operated in Cantonese. It almost feels like you’re in Thailand, but in a bubble owned by a company in Hong Kong. Who would have known that you could visit Thailand and be surrounded by Thai people speaking Cantonese? It was quite interesting – and business savvy – for the tour agencies to work together to cater to the Hong Kong people. I never knew such things existed, which is why I was so shocked.

Nevertheless, with that interesting fact put aside, I must say that my trip was extremely enjoyable. Traveling with 8 other friends was unforgettable – filled with laughter, bonding, and lifelong memories. Simply being with these people is something that I will never forget. I am so fortunate and lucky to have such great friends who are always willing to have a good time. With that said, here is a photo montage of my trip. Most photo credits go to Mike Chang, the fearless photographer of our group!

Rainy day yesterday morning. No real plans except having “Godfather” and “The Girl” over to the house for dinner. I was sipping a Nespresso when “Monk” asks me if we want to meet up with a couple of her friends in New Westminster for lunch. I’ll be the fifth wheel in a group of “ladies who lunch” anytime!

A few weeks ago, I had seen a list of 101 best things to eat in Vancouver Magazine. Number 1 on the list, though order was probably insignificant, was a crab and prawn roll at a Thai restaurant in New Westminster called Pattaya [406 6 St, New Westminster, (604) 529-9161]. Since New West is relatively close to our suburban dwelling, I had been meaning to give it a try.

“Monk”, “Jazzy” and I hopped in the hybrid, pick up her fellow “Rocky Mountain Nuts” and off to lunch we went. Pattaya is relatively simple, clean and is very much what one would expect from a Thai restaurant. After some debate on how and what to order (“Monk” don’t like spicy and her pals love uber-spicy), we decided on the prawn and crab roll, tom kah gai, pad thai, gang keaw waan (green curry) and a red curry chicken dish that the girls ordered thermal nuclear. The prawn and crab roll was interesting. It was filled with the seafood, veggies and cream cheese and was served with a sweet chili sauce. It was hot, tasty, crisp, but not spectacular in any way. The tom kah gai was reasonable, but a touch too sweet, under seasoned, lacked depth and not enough acid. As for the other dishes, they were OK, but again, very lack lustre. The lunch specials we ordered are a good value at $7, but I’ve had better $7 lunches elsewhere. Overall, the meal was reasonable. The company was good. Issues and concerns; an overall lack of pizzazz when it came to the food. The food was not ingredient, flavour or technique driven, in any way.

Prawn and Crab Rolls

I fell in love with Thai flavors years ago when I worked for Jean-Georges in London. We were cooking Thai inspired French dishes and I learned about lemongrass, coconut milk, tamarind, galangal, kaffir lime, chilies, curry pastes and fish sauce. Since then, I’ve had really bad luck with Thai food, particularly here in Vancouver. I’ve only heard good things about Maenam, (previously Gastropod) so I figure we’ll be trying it very soon.

On my chef’s night out scale, Pattaya receives 2/5 SOB (slices of bacon).
