Guyzance Hall Wedding Photography, Northumberland - Emma & Jez

November saw Emma and Jez get hitched at the wonderful Guyzance Hall in Northumberland. The day started out a bit drab (weather wise that is!) but finished of with one of the best sunsets I’ve seen in ages – see one of the last photos further down. In keeping with the stylish feel of the day I’ve included quite a few contemporary black & white images too. Spending the majority of the morning with Emma and her bridesmaids I make sure I get all the photos I need before running down to see Jez and the guys getting ready – as you can see it’s all very different with guys – less finesse, more speed!! Get some great shots and its back up to get the final last minute important shots of Emma – she looks great and I show her a photo to put her mind at ease. Guyzance Hall hosted the full day so it was just a short jog down the stairs to prepare for the ceremony. Afterwards the Northumberland weather brightens up allowing us to get all our formal wedding party photos outside, followed by the bride and groom wedding portraits around the grounds – Emma wore her wellies just in case. One of their favourite shots was the sunset photo which happened just at the end of their starter – it only took 2 mins though as I had everything already set up. The speeches (hilarious) took us right through to an amazing fireworks finale – simply stunning and it helped produce some really fantastic images. I look forward to my next Guyzance Hall Wedding! Horton Grange Country House - Jo & Paul's Wedding

Last Friday I found myself at Horton Grange Country House again. This time shooting Jo & Paul’s wedding. Now if you’ve never been to Horton Grange it’s def worth a little visit – or even a bigger visit as the food is pretty amazing and the place itself is quite special. It’s an elegant Grade – II listed Country House with a real intimate charm about it and I’m sure thats why Jo & Paul chose it for their special day. A wonderful champagne reception welcomed all their guests and kept welcoming them until all the bottles were empty! Always good to see. Whilst waiting for the ceremony to creep up on us I took some less formal shots of Paul and his best man – and never needed to say ‘smile’ once! (Maybe the champage?!) Wasn’t long before everyone was called into the lounge for the ceremony start so I greeted Jo and her Father just outside – a quick comb of the hair (Jo’s dad that is!) and they were ready to walk down the aisle. Horton Grange is perfectly suited to cosy intimate ceremonies and this was no exception – even with a good few people it still feels private. After the ceremony all that remained for me to do was arrange and capture the formal wedding photography and get some nice relaxed images of Jo & Paul. My next Horton Grange Wedding will be slightly different in that I won’t be working and it will be my best friend’s wedding – really can’t wait for that! Congrulations to Jo & Paul. Jo & James - Cuddystone Hall, Northumberland

Cuddystone Hall is situated in The College Valley, set in over eleven thousand acres of beautiful Northumberland countryside. I read that it’s one of the most silent places in the UK – certainly not on the Saturday night Jo & James got married! The day started of with Jo and her bridesmaids getting ready in a cute little cottage near cuddystone hall. Not before long a lack of hairspray kind of stopped any progress, so I offered to go and get some before things could get back on track (not just a wedding photographer!). The Rolls Royce arrived just before I set off to St Ninians Church in Wooler where the ceremony was being held. Once there I got a few quick shots of James and his best man and ushers before awaiting Jo in the Roller. The Church was beautiful, and so was the ceremony. The main reception was back at Cuddystone Hall though so once everyone arrived I set about getting the formal wedding party photographs and then something a little less formal for Jo & James. The weather didn’t exactly make things easy for me – did I mention it rained for most of the day – but we managed to have a laugh and get some lovely romantic wedding images. A cracking ceilidh saw the evening off to brilliant and noisy start and probably echoed through College Valley until the early hours! Thankfully it’s pretty remote so I doubt anybody heard

Emma & Andrew - St Ann's Church and the Assembly Rooms, Newcastle

Last Saturday saw Emma & Andrew tie the knot at St Ann’s Church followed by a reception at The Assembly Rooms in Newcastle. Mega sparkly shoes, crazy socks, a horse and carriage, a super cool Jaguar (the car not the animal!) and a vintage bus made all made for a truly wonderful and unique wedding day. Not forgetting the bride & groom though, who looked really relaxed and happy throughout the whole day. If ever a brides jaw was gonna ache from smiling all day my bet would certainly be on Emma – she never stopped! Always great to photograph such happy people. Once the ceremony had finished I couldn’t help but jump on the bus with everyone as I knew this would result in some great (if a little shaky!) photographs. Congratulations to Emma & Andrew. Here is a small sample from the day.

Paul Santos Photography gets WPJA acceptance!

I’m rather happy today because I’ve been accepted as a member of the prestigious and internationally renowned Wedding Photojournalist Association (www.wpja.com). Membership is pretty tightly controlled – there is less than 100 members in England. Think I’m one of two in the North East. I’m quite honoured that the quality and style of my wedding photography has been recognised in this way – it’s quite a big deal for me. The following is the press release issued:

The Wedding of Nicola & David at Matfen Hall, Northumberland

A stunning stately home and 300 acres of gorgeous Northumberland parkland to capture beautiful wedding photography in – it doesnt get much better than that! Even with the brief rainy spell it simply couldn’t be spoilt. I met up with Nicola & David at Matfen Hall in Northumberland a couple of weeks before their wedding day just to go through timings etc and began to wonder if I might actually be more excited for their big day to come than they were! It’s not the first time I’ve been here but I do look forward to coming back each time. Nicola & David asked for a select amount of formal shots but really wanted the majority to capture the feel and emotion of the day without the traditional photographer intervention. And so the day started with a few cheeky glasses of champagne – the bride and bridesmaids might I add and not me! Before you know it the ceremony has come and gone and it’s time to get the formal shots captured, only this is when the rain makes an appearance and forces my plan B – a quick improvised lighting set up and group shots in the Great Hall with Nicola & David’s photos a little later on when the rain has disappeared. Also worth mentioning is David’s best man who did a stirling job in getting everyone together for the formal shots (thank you). Apart from the British weather the day went predictably perfect and it’s fair to say everyone looked like they were having a ball!

Your Wedding Photography DVD & Copyright Info

I still get alot of enquiries asking about wedding photography copyright, printing, watermarks etc etc. So I thought I would try to clear up the confusion – at least when choosing Paul Santos Photography! As always I try to keep things crystal clear and simple so firstly, you always get all your wedding images on DVD. Better than that though you get two sets of wedding images on disc – you get high resolution non-watermarked images for printing, framing, canvas etc. You also get another set converted especially for use on the web – they are around a 60th of the size of the originals so load super fast and look great on screen, ideal for facebook and emailing these are duplicates from your online gallery with a small watermark in the corner. All supllied in a neat personalised presentation case.

Copyright is simple too. Paul Santos Photography grants the bride and groom full personal use of the images so you can use them just how you really want to use them. You get a full rights receipt too just incase you get asked to prove you have permission to print them – more and more places are asking my customers this these days. You can still choose to do your printing through your online wedding gallery though and your prints will always arrive at your door looking vibrant, accurate and proffesional – without any hassle!

The Wedding of Michelle & Floyd at The Quayside Exchange, Sunderland

The day started at The Marriott with a little bit of a panic due to Michelle’s wedding makeup artist not turning up! Thankfully the bridesmaids came to the rescue and they both did a stirling job and made Michelle up to look just perfect for her big day. With things back on track and the getting ready wedding photography out of the way it was time for me to dash to Michelle and Floyd’s chosen wedding venue – The Quayside Exchange in Sunderland to record the ceremony. A great wedding venue with wonderful low atmospheric lighting made for some classic ceremony shots whilst the terrace on the back was perfect to capture the chosen formal shots. I wanted to get a photo of Michelle & Floyd with the classy Beauford wedding car they hired but the streets were full of traffic – so with enough time before the speeches I asked the driver to take us all to the factories round the back where I’d spotted a great colourful backdrop for the car shot I’d planned. Michelle & Floyd love their wedding day photographs. Here is a very small taster.
