Story from the Wall Street Journal, by the Dean of Harvard Medical School Jeffrey S. Flier. Excerpt:

Story from the Wall Street Journal, by the Dean of Harvard Medical School Jeffrey S. Flier.

Excerpt:

As the dean of Harvard Medical School I am frequently asked to comment on the health-reform debate. I’d give it a failing grade.

[...]Speeches and news reports can lead you to believe that proposed congressional legislation would tackle the problems of cost, access and quality. But that’s not true. The various bills do deal with access by expanding Medicaid and mandating subsidized insurance at substantial cost—and thus addresses an important social goal. However, there are no provisions to substantively control the growth of costs or raise the quality of care. So the overall effort will fail to qualify as reform.

In discussions with dozens of health-care leaders and economists, I find near unanimity of opinion that, whatever its shape, the final legislation that will emerge from Congress will markedly accelerate national health-care spending rather than restrain it. Likewise, nearly all agree that the legislation would do little or nothing to improve quality or change health-care’s dysfunctional delivery system. The system we have now promotes fragmented care and makes it more difficult than it should be to assess outcomes and patient satisfaction. The true costs of health care are disguised, competition based on price and quality are almost impossible, and patients lose their ability to be the ultimate judges of value.

Worse, currently proposed federal legislation would undermine any potential for real innovation in insurance and the provision of care. It would do so by overregulating the health-care system in the service of special interests such as insurance companies, hospitals, professional organizations and pharmaceutical companies, rather than the patients who should be our primary concern.

In effect, while the legislation would enhance access to insurance, the trade-off would be an accelerated crisis of health-care costs and perpetuation of the current dysfunctional system—now with many more participants. This will make an eventual solution even more difficult. Ultimately, our capacity to innovate and develop new therapies would suffer most of all.

In order to have an economy recover, you need people running government who actually understand health care and economics. My lunch-time book is Regina Hertzlinger’s “Who Killed Health Care?”. Regina teaches at Harvard University, as well. She talks about how we need to lower costs and improve quality by introduce elements of choice and competition. Her plan is similar to the Republican’s Patient’s Choice Act. Consumer-Driven health care is the right solution to the problem of rising health care costs. Obama’s plan just adds fuel to the fire.

Dear friends,

Today is 11/11 – Do you know what that means? 1111 is a trigger to wake up to higher consciousness. Have you ever found yourself catching the clock exactly at 11:11. I learned about this many years ago from SOLARA when we were both living in Charlottesville. She claims it’s a pre-encoded trigger placed into our cellular memory banks prior to our descent into matter. I believe it. She also believes that the doorway of 11:11 was opened on Jan. 1, 1992 and will close on November 11, 2011 as an entranceway into an evolutionary humanitarian shift into the era of 2012. I have asked other people about 11:11 and was surprised to find many people with their own stories about the numbers. Lightworkers unite around this idea. It just feels totallu right!

So today at 11:11 I meditated for 11 minutes on the healing of my dear friend Dee Yoh from colon cancer. There were probably at least 1111 friends of her meditating at that time, she is so loved. She went to Lake Tahoe to see a healer and we were praying that her tumor decreases enough so that the MRI she rescheduled for next week will show a significant decrease and her doctor will not recommend chemo.

While meditating on Dee I saw the two of us completely merged in our Higher Selves. The healing is on the level of Oneness. That’s where we manifest our life- that’s where the soul resides. We are not in charge with how long it takes to manifest- that’s God’s timing. Will the shift to higher consciousness take place while we reside in the body this lifetime or will we need to release the body to get to the next level? I am convinced that this is my ascension life and I will release any disease while still in the body. I pray the same for Dee.

So today I received a very interesting report from Mike Adams- the Health Ranger at Natural News. Lots of info here Breast Cancer Deception and here: Thinkbeforeyoupink

Ever wonder how much money goes to research from all those pink ribbon breast cancer “charities”. Ever wonder why the very things that promote breast cancer like pink milk chocolate M&Ms and other dairy products are being used to raise funds for research? Is it just ignorance or is it greed? Starnge what money does to people? For a good article on why eliminate dairy if you have breast cancer click here.

Adams conclusion:

“EDUCATE YOURSELF! The cancer industry hopes you remain ignorant. YOU are the only person who has an interest in keeping you healthy. Remember: The healthier you are, the less you’re worth to the cancer industry! The average cancer patient generates about $800,000 in revenues for the cancer industry. I strongly suggest that you find ways to deny the industry those revenues by avoiding this easily preventable disease altogether!

Recommended book: Pink Ribbons, Inc.: Breast Cancer and the Politics of Philanthropy by Samantha King.”

I’ll have to read the book he recommends… I like the name…

Until next time… Keep shining- you shining stars.

Blessings,
Melinda

Bonne lecture

What would happen if we sneaked a tiny little clause in the fine print of new finance regulations that will allow our President to invoke Taxpayer Privilege in using inside info to manipulate the market on behalf of taxpayers?

Scenario 1. Health care reform doesn’t pass. Health insurance and medical companies’ stocks make a rally. The White House knows about the deal before the news reach the market and instructs the Treasury to buy health stocks. With the trillion profits it will make selling them after the news is out, it bails out taxpayers. That’s Sweet!

Scenario 2. The health bill can pass but the White House announces that it doesn’t have the deal it wants. Technically speaking, that is an accurate statement of the government’s intentions. The market interprets it as no-deal on health care and stocks rally. The Treasury sells the stocks short. Profits and health care go back to the taxpayers. That’s sweet-killing of two birds with one stone. Sweet nevertheless!

That’s all good and nice in “A Perfect World” where free markets exist.

Since we don’t live in “A Perfect World“, we get to make up for loss of free markets with plenty of free imagination.

In executing some of my free supply of it, I imagine a unanimous vote on the Executive Privilege of allowing the President to invoke Taxpayer Privilege and have the market pay back taxpayers for free! )

Anthony Weiner (D-NY) repeatedly called out former Lt. Gov. Betsy McCaughey for lying about health care reform. He said debating her was like “debating a pyromaniac in a straw man factory,” prompting intense and immediate reaction from the audience.

“Debate like a man!” hollered one bespectacled, middle-aged man. Another quieted the ensuing shouts with, “This is his speaking time, not yours!“

Weiner and McCaughey arguably represent the furthest ends of the health care reform spectrum. Weiner is a progressive Congressman who wants a single-payer, government run health care system. McCaughey, who recently posited that reform may lead to government-mandated euthanasia, helped kill the Clintons’ health care plan in the 90s.

The “Lincoln-Douglas-style debate,” hosted by Democracy Leaders for the 21st Century and held at the NYU Medical Center, lasted nearly two hours. For much of that, the pair seemed engaged in two entirely different debates.

White House blog—It might seem merely symbolic that there were doctors from all 50 states here at the White House, but it’s symbolic of a deep truth about the health insurance reform debate. As the President said today, “when you cut through all the noise and all the distractions that are out there, I think what’s most telling is that some of the people who are most supportive of reform are the very medical professionals who know the health care system best — the doctors and nurses of America.” He continued:

“These men and women here would not be supporting health insurance reform if they really believed that it would lead to government bureaucrats making decisions that are best left to doctors. They wouldn’t be here today if they believed that reform in any way would damage the very critical and sacred doctor-patient relationship.

Instead, the reason these doctors are here is because they have seen firsthand what’s broken about our health care system. They’ve seen what happens when their patients can’t get the care they need because some insurance company has decided to drop their coverage or water it down. They’ve seen what happens when a patient is forced to pay out of pocket thousands of dollars she doesn’t have for treatments that she desperately needs. They’ve seen what happens when patients don’t come in for regular check-ups or screenings because either their insurance company doesn’t cover it or they can’t afford insurance in the first place. And they’ve seen far too much of time that they want to devote to taking care of patients spent filling out forms and haggling with insurance companies about payments.

So these doctors know what needs to be fixed about our health care system. And they know that health insurance reform will do — that it will go a long way towards making patients healthier and doctors and nurses to be able to perform that — those tasks that are so important to them and led them into medicine in the first place.”

John Zogby: Decision Day For Democrats: Poll Shows Path to Healthcare Reform By S. Ward Casscells, MD and John Zogby
Despite suggestions that Americans were either tired of the health care issue or did not consider it to be enough of a priority, we found that people would read the long description of the bill, then wade through 10 amendments. Even after months of off-putting rhetoric by an over-heated, over-publicized few on both sides, Americans do indeed care about this health care debate.
Moreover, they sent a clear message: Only one proposed amendment raises support for the bill to even: malpractice reform. The second biggest boost was from eliminating the individual mandate, and third: adding a public option.

Press Release—Frustrated with the health care ‘options’ coming out of Washington, D.C., six “Mad as Hell” Oregon physicians are taking an unprecedented road trip across America to lobby Congress for a single-payer health care system. A big part of their plan is to take the entire country with them.

Called a “Care-A-Van,” these road-tripping Oregon physicians will leave in a used motor home from Portland, Oregon on September 8th, inviting doctors and ordinary citizens from other states to join them on their twenty-city tour across the country. Their journey will culminate in a D.C.-based event on September 30th, scheduled to take place on the
steps of Congress. Demonstrating with the doctors will be thousands of fellow ‘Mad as Hell’ single-payer advocates, all adorned with the movement’s new symbol – the white ribbon. Their demand: Single-Payer Now!
“We’re mad as hell because our health care system is run by people who profit from illness” says Dr. Paul Hochfeld, lead Mad As Hell Doctor and producer of the documentary Health, Money and Fear. “The rest of the civilized world has test driven single payer and it works. But elected officials in America won’t even allow a discussion.”

“The public option is a trap.” Hochfeld continues. “It sounds very reasonable, but the problem with it, no matter what the final bill looks like, is that it will continue to allow private medical insurance companies to dictate America’s public health policies. And that’s just plain wrong.”

Several national, single-payer advocacy organizations including Physicians for a National Health Program, Health Care Now, Single Payer Action, and even groups like Progressive Democrats of America and Jobs with Justice are supporting the Oregon physicians by setting up Mad as Hell Town Halls across the country in anticipation of their arrival.

“People need to understand what single-payer is–and isn’t,” says Dr. Mike Huntington, a radiologist from Corvallis, Oregon and fellow Mad As Hell Doctor. “It isn’t Socialism, any more than police and fire are Socialism. And it doesn’t require any more money.

Simply put, single-payer is a way to take the current premium payments that go to a thousand different private insurance companies, and redirect them into a single, public fund that insures everyone. That’s all it is. But when we do this, lots of wonderful things happen, not the least of which is to save Americans 500 billion dollars a year starting day one. That’s billion – with a ‘b.’ America needs this information. That’s why we’re taking the tour.”

And one more video from On The Fence Films called “Dead Meat“.

While you watch these videos, keep in mind that these people pay about half their incomes into a socialist system for thirty years. Usually, both adults in the family are working their whole lives to pay into this system. The money is spent by politically correct leftists on politically correct leftist research, such as polygamy studies. The politically correct leftist government grants taxpayer-funded treatments, for their preferred constituents, many of whom do not even pay into the system.

For example, things like breast cancer, in vitro fertilization, contraceptives, abortions, STDs, AIDS, drug rehabilitation and sex changes are well-funded by the government. But since men are politically incorrect in a feminist society, the mortality rate for prostate cancer, which only affects men, is abominably poor compared to countries like the United States. (See this article for a comparison of other health care outcomes).

The take home lesson for us in the United States is that this is a tremendous vote-buying scam. You will have ignorant but well-meaning Christians voting for the Democrats from the time Obamacare passes. Many Christians are typically ignorant of free market capitalism and do not realize that they are trading in their liberty and prosperity for “free health care”.

Christians rationalize their vote for massive government-run social programs as “compassion”, and try not to think about how they are really voting in favor of abortion, same-sex marriage and the end of religious liberty. I find it amusing to talk to Canadians who love free speech and single-payer health care, not realizing that the single-payer health care is the exact thing that sets a nation on the road to restrictions on free speech.

Even Canada is moving towards privatized health care

Here is a post from the American Power blog that cites an LA Times article entitled “In Canada, a Move Toward a Private Healthcare Option“. (H/T Blazing Cat Fur)

Excerpt:

When the pain in Christina Woodkey’s legs became so severe that she could no long hike or cross-country ski, she went to her local health clinic. The Calgary, Canada, resident was told she’d need to see a hip specialist. Because the problem was not life-threatening, however, she’d have to wait about a year.

So wait she did.

In January, the hip doctor told her that a narrowing of the spine was compressing her nerves and causing the pain. She needed a back specialist. The appointment was set for Sept. 30. “When I was given that date, I asked when could I expect to have surgery,” said Woodkey, 72. “They said it would be a year and a half after I had seen this doctor.”

So this month, she drove across the border into Montana and got the $50,000 surgery done in two days.

“I don’t have insurance. We’re not allowed to have private health insurance in Canada,” Woodkey said. “It’s not going to be easy to come up with the money. But I’m happy to say the pain is almost all gone.”

Whereas U.S. healthcare is predominantly a private system paid for by private insurers, things in Canada tend toward the other end of the spectrum: A universal, government-funded health system is only beginning to flirt with private-sector medicine.

[...]“What we have in Canada is access to a government, state-mandated wait list,” said Brian Day, a former Canadian Medical Assn. director who runs a private surgical center in Vancouver. “You cannot force a citizen in a free and democratic society to simply wait for healthcare, and outlaw their ability to extricate themselves from a wait list.”

Be sure and take a look at some of the videos I collected together detailing some of the horror stories.

The media left normally called the main stream media, ABC, CBS, and MSNBC trump the though that ther

The media left normally called the main stream media, ABC, CBS, and MSNBC trump the though that there is really no reason for the right to worry about little O’ Obama speaking to school children about ‘staying in school and making a good grade’. What they fail to mention is that our President was very involved in an organization that was set up to educate teachers on how to convince students that they are victims of an "unjust, oppressive and racist America.” [3]

The educational foundation called the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC), of which Barack Obama was on board to dole out over $100 million dollars for education, of which was not donated to schools, but was spent in teaching teachers how to indoctrinate our children in their radical Socialist Ideology.

From 1995 to 1999, Ayers led an educational foundation called the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC), Ayers remained on the board until 2001. In 1995, Barack Obama, with zero executive experience, was brought on board to dole out over $100 million dollars to various left wing organizations. The stated agenda of the CAC was to "improve Chicago public schools". Not surprisingly, with Ayers and Obama at the helm, CAC’s own in house evaluations show no evidence of educational improvement following CAC’s intervention.

Ayers co-chaired the "collaborative" which shaped educational policy. Any suggestion that Ayers and Obama had just a passing acquaintance is preposterous. [1]

The goal of social justice teaching is to convince students that they are victims of an "unjust, oppressive and racist America. "A few years of this kind of "education" and the kids are primed for a takeover by community organizers who will mobilize them to vote for the far left.

The plan is working. In 2008, seven out of every ten voters between 18 and 29 favored expanding the role of the government and believe that the government should be doing more to solve our problems.

Future teachers are fully indoctrinated into radical leftist ideology. Teaching materials are provided by special interest groups with distinctly left wing agendas. School districts invite these groups to conduct "professional development" training, at tax payer expense.

Phyllis Schlafly sums it up: "When a teacher engages in this type of advocacy in lieu of teaching literature, math, history or science, the teacher is engaging in political indoctrination." [2]

Put all that in perspective, there is no reason the idea of televising Obama to address the school children directly with the first submitted “lesson plan” to have the children write a letter to themselves on what they can do to help the President. It would not be unreasonable to believe the teachers that have already been propagandized in the education of how to convince students that they are victims of an "unjust, oppressive and racist America” [3] would not follow-up with influencing the their little subjects in pushing ObamaCare.

Additionally, the letter sent to the nation’s school principals "encourages educators to use this moment" to modify their first-day-of-school lesson plan by drawing from a "menu of classroom activities" prepared by the Obama administration’s own "teachers-in-residence" and "Teaching Ambassador Fellows."[7]

There is no reason to believe otherwise due to the track record of President Obama in his non-apologetic use of children in the past to propagate his agenda such as the town hall meeting of late. Exploiting children was his agenda for years and I have not seen any reason to believe he has changed. Even his health care bill that he has been trying to sell to the American people bares this out. [4]

Yes, mom and dads, you are justified in believing this Obama Class Room invasion into your children’s class room has a hidden agenda. The agenda is to get done what he has not been able to do in his lame “town hall meetings” of late. You have not fell for his sells pitch, so now he is out to get in in by selling your children a happy meal, only this happy meal with leave a bitter taste in your children’s mouths toward you for being so unjust by not accepting socialism as our fate.

Have any doubt. Just take a look at what Barack Obama’s own webpage political web site BarackObama.com (which goes by the name Organizing For America) said about you. Your a terrorist. (Thanks goes out to The Heritage Foundation [6] for casting light on what Obama. After pointing out what Obama and his team were doing, the web page shown below was taken down.) [5]

On the page, the Obama political team is advertising a "Health Care Organizing Event."

All 50 States are coordinating in this — as we fight back against our own Right-Wing Domestic Terrorists who are subverting the American Democratic Process, whipped into a frenzy by their Fox Propaganda Network ceaselessly re-seizing power for their treacherous leaders.

Whoa, not the words I would expect to come from a President of the United States of America. And get this, it is about a “Health Care Organizing Event" not about planes crashing into the WTC or even Bombers such as his friend and colleague Bill Ayers who he worked so closely with setting this classroom event up.

But, then again, I digress. Consider the source and come to grips, he is out to create a “New Republic” not conserve the one the founding fathers gave us.

Socialism is just a fancy word for slavery.

That’s the view from here,

Le Papillon qui sous le Ciel
Ne connaît pas son Nom
N’a aucune taxe à payer

***
The Buttrefly upon the Sky,
That doesn’t know its Name
And hasn’t any tax to pay
And hasn’t any Home
Is just as high as you and I,
And higher, I believe,
So oar away and never sigh
And that’s the way to grieve -

Today the “Cash for Clunkers” program came to an end. For those people that were able to take advantage of the program, congratulations. You have just ripped off the American taxpayers for 4500 dollars. Once again Obama has implemented a plan that wasn’t designed to do anything except spend money or increase government control.

The program appears on the surface to be a big success. But, the reality is that this one billion dollar program will ultimately cost the taxpayers three billion dollars. That is three billion dollars added to the federal deficit so that new car sales will look good for two months. There is no long term stimulus involved in this program. If we had taken the three billion and provided the car dealerships with tax breaks, then they could have lowered the cost of the cars, or service, or at least hired some additional staff. All of these options would have had a much more long term affect.

The democrats just do not get it. These kinds of programs will only have a short term affect at best. The stimulus plan created jobs that will only last between a week and a month. This does not help get us out of a recession. You need a much longer term solution. This is why tax breaks are more effective than handing out a lump of cash.

Now rumor has it, that we will have a similar Cash for Clunkers program for appliances. Again, we will flush down the drain several billion dollars of tax payer money for no long term help. STOP WASTING OUR MONEY!!!!!!

At the rate the democrats are going, the 2010 election will be too late. The damage will be so great that the U.S. will be taken over by China. Remember the borrower is always the slave to the lender. China is lending us the money we need to pay our bills. When we start defaulting on our interest payments, they will be in a position to dictate whatever they want us to do. Capitalism will be dead. We will be turned into a communist country. If Obama continues with his agenda at the current pace, we will see this transformation within the next two years.

So once again, contact your representatives and senators and tell them NO MORE SPENDING!!!!! The health care reforms will have to wait. Obama’s plan to add 12 million illegal immigrants to the welfare roles will have to wait. Cap and tax will need to be repealed. A tax break will need to be given to small businesses to help correct the unemployment issues. A tax break will need to be given to all individual tax payers to help the middle class meet their expenses and to get money flowing in the economy again.

The choice is between Chinese communism or American capitalism. The choice seems clear to me. No more clunkers, no more stimulus packages, no more health care reform, no more cap and tax, no more illegal immigrants, no more spending. The alternative is far worse.
