It’s a slightly sad week for me. For the last two years, or almost two years, I’ve been running a whole load of blogs, which I have used to post ads for cash. Adverts for all sorts of things. Logo designers, web hosts, viagra shops, rejuvenation surgery for ladies bits….you name it, I’ve blogged about it. And it’s been quite profitable. In 2008 I earned about US$10,000 with my spammy blog ads. This year, with the economic crisis, and Google pegging my blogs back with poor rankings, things haven’t been so good. About $2,000. But still. It all counts.

This week though, Izea closed down my favourite paid ad program of them all, the one that’s made me about 90% of my cash, PayPerPost, version 3. It’s been replaced, sure. With two new programs in fact. But it’s not the same. Not at all. And that makes me sad. I’m not going to link to them here though. Google doesn’t like that. You can also search for them. I suggest Google. I hope than I can work my way into the money on their new programs though. I’m about half way to a new Canon T1i…

PayPerPost is one of a growing crowd of link strategy sites hoping to broker deals between advertisers and bloggers. After 3 years of user input, Ted Murphy announced in April that they were releasing PPPv4 – “A complete re-write of PayPerPost from the ground up.”

After checking out PPPv4 for a couple weeks, I’ve found it very easy to use/understand.  The interaction between advertisers and bloggers is the best I’ve seen from a review site. The approval process involves the bloggers and advertisers in a way that makes sure both parties are happy with the pricing, posting, and approving.

On top of that, they have a 25% deal going on right now – rewarding advertisers with a 25% bonus if they deposit $500 or more into their account. A big chunk of change, but a sweet incentive to do so. The blogs are priced relatively well compared to the industry.

All blog posts are required to contain full disclosure. Advertisers can pick whether they’d like disclosure to appear within the post, site-wide, or a combination of both. While disclosure isn’t ideal from an advertiser’s perspective, it is closer to being aligned with Google’s best practices than most paid reviews. Perhaps following such guidelines will warrent some favor from King Google.

All-in-all, from my experience, Version 4 of PayPerPost is a decent upgrade to the sponsored reviews industry.  Well done PPP.

Just received an interesting email from Izea:

As you know we recently made some changes to the PayPerPost platform. While the feedback regarding our interface refinement has been great, we have also received some concerns relating to our pricing adjustments. I am sensitive to your pricing feedback and would like to try a new model for a limited time. My hope is that we will find a balance that works financially for advertisers, bloggers and IZEA. With that in mind, we have made the following changes:

• Minimum total cost per post reduced to $1.00
• Minimum word count reduced to 25 words with a link only option

That’s a pretty interesting development which is being pushed out till the end of the month allowing Izea to test the water with this “micro-payperpost” idea. My biggest concern is that this will affect the quality of the blogging network as it minimises the amount of effort people put into posting. On a positive note, it might also encourage new advertisers to try the medium out. So if you want a post about live video streaming services for example, it will only cost you $1 to try.

I’ll be interested to see the results of this experiment

I have many inquiries here about online earnings. I reviewed my posts and I noticed that I don’t really have detailed information about making money online aside from the post for oDesk. As promised to Chelle and my other readers who were asking me bout this topic.

Here is the common question I got from my readers:

• Do you really earn from this affiliate and all this writing stuffs?
• How much range of income do u get from this?
• Is working online really true?
• Are they not scams?
• Can I see your proof of payment? You don’t have one in your blog…
• Can you recommend some reliable site?
• I am working at home, I hope you can share some link which can help me earn…

I assure you guys, earning online is real. I am earning decent money which keep me get going, in fact almost 50% of our income comes from my work online and 50% from my home based business. Of course these earnings doesn’t make me rich yet but it sustain our expenses, at least my phone bills, ISP, electric, water, mobile and other household bills and expenses are covered with my earnings. Although we still have to work hard because we have a big family. I have 4 kids, my eldest daughter is a junior high, 2 grade school, 1 niece in college and my youngest son. That makes us 7 members of the family including 2 dogs and 1 guinea pig.

Okay let me give you a detailed info about my earnings:

1. I am a verified oDesk provider

oDesk is a website both for hiring companies and job providers. As a company, you can hire freelancers or even companies who are providing this kind of service. It can be fixed job or hourly work. Payment is escrowed for hourly job, meaning the hiring company has to pay oDesk and after work completion, oDesk will pay the work provider. oDesk has tools to measure hourly work. A special program has to be installed in your PC. On the other hand, fixed job is different. The money is not escrowed and it depends on the hiring company and the work provider’s agreement how they will settle for the payment. It must me through oDesk or Paypal.

How to register:

• You can click here
• Fill up the necessary information. Make your profile 100% finished.
• Create a good resume
• Link your online Portfolio and other related online experience
• Take and pass oDesk readiness Test (90% passing). Just review the TOS & FAQ.
• Take English proficiency exam at oDesk and other website which offer this type of service. I took my English Proficiency exam here.
• Take other tests at oDesk, this will add to your profile and a plus also
• Link your blog. Companies are looking for real writers and your blog will be the most effective sample of your work.

After passing the exam, you will be notified that you’re already a verified oDesk provider. You are now ready to bid for jobs. Just click, find job tab and you will be presented with many job opportunities. Select a category at the left side bar. Choose jobs which suits your skills then click apply. The company usually asks you to send your CV and link to your portfolio.

After your first project with oDesk, share your experience by posting it in your blog. Don’t forget to link that blog at oDesk by tagging it. 2. I became a regular quiz writer of Devbook.com through oDesk.

4. AW Surveys.com – I am also earning from this site. You will earn through referral and surveys. Minimum pay out is $75 through PayPal. Due to fraud and scams they are strict on referrals so be sure to refer only those people that you knew.

5. Commission Junction – you can get advertisement offers through this site. They will pay you through check.

6. Adgitize - I am just new to this site but they will be paying you for referrals, viewing and clicking ads and by posting blog articles in your own site.

7. Yuwie.com – Just like adgitize, yuwie will also pay you through referrals, viewing and clicking ads

8. Helium – This will pay you everytime you create and post article on their site

9. PayPerPost – This is also a good site for paid blogging.

I also tried joining PTCs but the earnings is so slow and it eats my time so I won’t recommend it. Paid blogging and article writing is still the best way to earn online.

How to start:

• Create an online profile
• Create your portfolio. If you are a writer, post your samples. If you are a web designer, post the links to your finished works. If you’re a graphic designer, upload and post your sample designs, layout or Logos and it would be best if you post a link to your past projects.
• Create a blog where you can show your writing expertise.
• Post your ads. Remember every click on your ads will earn you a dollar.
• Post your referral links. Note that every person who click your referral link and sign up under you will be added to your earnings. AW Surveys.com pays $1.25 for every referral. Just imagine, if 100 people signed up under you, that would be $125. But take note, those must be active members.

Remember also that you have to work on your traffic by joining social community sites like MyBlogLog, BlogCatalog, Facebook, Orkut, Friendster and MySpace. Check what will work for you. Add friends and visit and comment on their blogs and you will see that they will do the same. Add widgets and post your banners.

I’m not big into hunting like some of the women and men around here. The boy is hunting crazy though and being the wonderful parents that we are hubby and I indulge his needs. Ha! (as long as he dosen’t bring any deer meat home that is). It wasn’t until last fall that I even KNEW what a Hunting Blind was. I was enlightened by a bunch of 11 year old boys during a Writers workshop lesson. Needless to say, they were all pretty astounded that “teacher” (aka the one that is supposed to know it all) had NO CLUE what a “blind” was. Anyway, the boy has been talking about needing to set up Hunting Blinds here in the woods too.

I recently got my eyes checked and ended up with a stronger contact lens and glasses Rx. To save money, and since I rarely wear my glasses unless I’m reading or watching television in bed, I planned on forgoing a new set of lenses and frames. I guess the dog had other ideas, she’s going through a teething/chewing stage for some reason and ate my old glasses. I found Great Discovry:$ 8 Prescription Glasses From Zenni Optical online. Now that Christmas is over this little family is headed into birthday season. Miss Em has asked for a Nintendo Ds and a Sansa Shaker already. She’s a big spender, haha. I guess we’ll have to take out a few payday loans just to pay for her presents and party. She’s planning on having a bowling party with her friends like big sis did back in December. Poor kid will have to spend her birthday weekend at another soccer tournament instead though.

I’ve always wanted to learn how to play piano, but up until this year I just lived vicariously through my daughter who learned how to play last year. A couple of women wrote a grant and were able to get music into our school in the form of teaching students to play keyboards (piano) and bells. It’s a great program, but the best part is that I’ve been able to learn the keys and chords right along with my students. We bought dd her own keyboard for Christmas so I’ve been researching how to increase her exposure to music and happened upon this Piano lessons & piano chords newsletter. It’s released every five days or so and offers a lot of really great information for people that are interested in playing the piano.

We’ve ran the gauntlet so to speak for heat sources in this house. When we first got married we had a wood stove in the living room and a cook stove in the kitchen for when it got really cold. After having the kiddos and worrying about them getting burned we bought a faux fireplace with ventless gas logs, of course that’s back when propane was .86 (yes that’s CENTS) a gallon. Needless to say, gas prices rose and we switched to a pellet stove. Apparently so did everyone else because we had a heck of a time finding pellet fuel one winter. So last year we decided to purchase another wood stove, however, this one operates like a furnace and has duct work running under the house so it isn’t near as messy as the one we had way back when. When it gets really cold though, we need an alternate heat source so we rely a lot on space heaters to warm up the rooms while the fire is catching up. I’d have to say that the gas heat was definitely the warmest though. Hopefully gas prices will go down and we’ll be able to afford another gas fireplace. Until then, we’ll have to rely on space heaters and a wood stove to keep us warm.

The duos new movie is based on the Broadway musical by the same name. Johnny Depp plays Sweeny Todd, formerly known as Ben Barker. He was convicted of a serious crime and spent fifteen years in the penal system. Upon his return home Sweeny discovers that his wife has committed suicide by poisoning herself and his daughter is the ward of the very same judge that had sentenced him to years in prison. Sweeny opens a barber shop and kills his clients for money and his female accomplice sells the body parts in her meat pies.The movie promises to be nice and gory for movie buffs that enjoy that kind of thing.
