Pelas declarações de um suposto amigo do casal “eles se casarão em breve e pode ser que a celebração ocorra inclusive nas férias”.

Ambos vencedores de Oscar, os atores espanhóis sempre zelaram pela preservação da intimidade, embora a “InTouch” tenha ressaltado que não duvida que o anel de Cruz ostenta nas últimas aparições públicas nos Estados Unidos seja uma aliança de compromisso dada por Bardem.

Este é o 17º longa do diretor e o primeiro protagonizado por Penélope após vencer o Oscar. Antes de entrar em circuito comercial no Brasil, “Abraços Partidos” foi exibido na programação da 33ª Mostra Internacional de Cinema de SP.

Nine, o novo filme do diretor Rob Marshall (Chicago), ganhou um novo cartaz que mostra as mulheres da vida de Guido, vivido por Daniel Day-Lewis.

O filme é baseado no musical de mesmo nome, que por sua vez foi baseado no filme 8 e meio de Federico Fellini e conta a história de um cineasta que durante a crise de meia idade usa lembranças das mulheres que passaram pela sua vida para poder superar a crise e reaver sua criatividade que anda em baixa.

O de contar com Daniel Day-Lewis no elenco o filme tem também a presença de Sophia Loren, Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz, Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson, Judi Dench e Fergie, que farão os papéis das mulheres da vida de Guido.

Nine entra em cartaz aqui no Brasil no dia 15 de Janeiro de 2010.

Tenemos ahora un nuevo póster de la cinta, pero ahora enfocado exclusivamente a las bellezas que formarán parte de la misma, a saber, Penélope Cruz, Kate Hudson y Fergie. Hay que hacer notar que, al parecer, la tendencia de Hollywood está cambiando nuevamente, pues tras de que se pudieran de moda las muchachas de menos de 25 años como símbolos sexuales, ahora están volviendo fuertemente las mujeres algo mayores, pues estas tres protagonistas están todas ellas dentro de los treintas. Y a como van las cosas, es posible que pronto regresen las maduras.

DRAGONS’ DEN GOES TO THE DOGS: Woofstock creator Marlene Cook, the brainy entrepreneur whose annual summer salute to Man’s Best Friend drew 300,000 participants to downtown T.O. this year, pitches the Dragons tonight with five look-alike dogs — one for each dragon. Would you be surprised to learn that Ms Cook matched Kevin O’Leary to an English bull terrier?  Probably not. But apparently finding an apricot poodle with a coat that was just the right shade of red to represent Arlene Dickinson was a far greater challenge. Aunque son nueve son bastantes menos las que se llevan el protagonismo, elegidas probablemente por carismáticas y talentosas sí, pero también por jóvenes, exhuberantes y famosas. Kate Hudson, Fergie, Nicole Kidman, Marion Cotillard o una despampanante Penélope Cruz (que sigue evolucionando sin límites, cual Pokemon) se llevan el estrellato en esta serie de nuevos carteles para Nine, película y espectáculo que intentará acaparar flashes durante la recta final de este 2.009. Hay que destacar también que entre tanta hembra potente se cuela ese hombre tranquilo y discreto que se transfigura en monstruo imparable sobre un escenario, conocido como Daniel Day Lewis, un tipo al que nadie querría enfrentarse en una gala de premios.

L’ultimo film di Pedro Almodóvar è sicuramente, se non al pari, almeno molto vicino ai suoi migliori lavori. Ambientato tra gli anni novanta ed oggi è una storia d’amore tormentata con tutti gli elementi portanti del cinema del regista spagnolo – passione, dramma, sofferenze, ma anche l’omosessualità e la morale, il tradimento e le fatalità del destino.

Un regista, Mateo Blanco, sta girando una commedia che ha per protagonista Lena (Penélope Cruz), l’amante di un importante personaggio, Ernesto Martel, che è anche produttore del film. La passione tra Mateo e Lena divampa inesorabile scatenando le gelosie di Martel. Prima ancora di lui, però, è il destino tragico ad abbattersi sulla coppia. In un incidente d’auto Lena muore e Mateo perde la vista rifiutando da quel momento la sua vera identità e assumendo il nome del suo alter ego, Harry Caine, fino a quando, alla morte di Martel dodici anni dopo, tutto può chiarirsi in un finale che dipana i nodi quasi da noir e dà almeno una speranza di felicità futura. Il film è anche, ma non solo, un omaggio al cinema nel quale alla commedia briosa girata e poi ripresa e conclusa anni dopo da Mateo (“I film vanno terminati, anche da ciechi”) fa da contraltare il tono cupo da melodramma che costituisce la struttura del film vero e proprio. Numerose le citazioni, compresa quella del titolo tratta dal Viaggio in Italia di Rossellini, ma anche la Cruz che nel film rimanda a Audrey Hepburn. Gran film, maturo, forse leggermente complicato nello svolgersi della trama, ma sicuramente ben diretto – gestendo bene i continui rimandi temporali e con alcune finezze registiche – e con Penélope Cruz in stato di grazia, di fatto perfetta in due ruoli completamente antipodici.

Die beiden Schwestern Raimunda (Penélope Cruz) und Sole (Lola Dueñas) wuchsen in einem abgelegenen Dorf irgedwo in Spanien auf, leben nun allerdings in der Nähe Madrids, wo Raimunda ihren arbeitslosen Ehemann Paco und ihre 14-jährige Tochter Paula (Yohana Cobo) mit Gelegenheitsjobs durchfüttert. Als Paco im völlig betrunkenen Zustand versucht, seine Tochter zu vergewaltigen, sticht Paula ihn nieder, woraufhin die Pragmatikerin Raimunda die Leiche in der Kühltruhe des Restaurants eines Freundes verschwinden lässt, das sie kurzerhand übernimmt. Währenddessen muss Sole allein in die alte Heimat zur Beerdigung ihrer kürzlich verstorbenen Tante fahren, wo sie von ihrer vor einigen Jahren verstorbenen Mutter erwartet wird …

Ich fürchte, Freunde werde ich mir mit dieser Rezension nicht machen. Wenn ich mich normalerweise dazu genötigt fühle, der Allgemeinheit bei der Beurteilung eines Filmes strikt zu widersprechen, geht es für gewöhnlich um Blockbuster mit Beteiligung von Spezies wie Roland Emmerich (oder Will Smith), deren Verrisse mir meist verziehen werden. Allerdings habe ich mich bisher noch nie derart negativ über einen von Presse und Publikum gleichermaßen als Meisterwerk gepriesenden Film auslassen müssen, wie das im Folgenden passieren wird. Seht es mir nach, ich bin auch nur ein Mensch.

“Volver”, zu Deutsch “Zurückkehren”, möchte Tragikomödie sein, ein Genre, dass ich seit dem deutschen Independentfilm “Schultze Gets The Blues”, spätestens aber seit “Lost in Translation” lieben gelernt habe, denn es verspricht skurrile Charaktere, absurde Dialoge und den ganz normalen Wahnsinn des Alltags. All das findet sich auch in “Volver” wieder. Was mich stört: Weder das Tragi- noch die Komödie kommen in dem Film wirklich zur Geltung. Den ganzen Film hindurch habe ich einmal, ein einziges Mal schmunzeln müssen – die Tote-Mutter-Geschichte hatte schon was für sich; das war’s dann aber auch. Gelungene Komik ist etwas anderes. Ich kann dem Plot einfach nichts Lustiges entnehmen, so sehr ich mich auch angestrengt habe; dass ich bis zum Ende des Films durchgehalten habe, ist schon eine durchaus lobenswerte Leistung gewesen, finde ich.

Der tragische Part lässt sich leichter ausmachen und ist auch gelungener. Allein die Szene, in der Paula auf Raimunda wartet und sie in die Wohnung führt, wo sie die Leiche ihres Ehemannes findet, ist schon ein, zwei Punkte mindestens wert. Überhaupt hätte sich aus dem Film so viel mehr machen lassen, wenn Regisseur und Autor Pedro Almodóvar “Volver” von Beginn an als Drama konzipiert und die Möchtegern-Komik beiseite gelassen hätte. Mag sein, dass ich mit spanischem Humor einfach nicht viel anfangen kann, dennoch hätte ich etwas mehr Feuer erwartet. “Volver” tröpfelt einfach so lange vor sich hin, dass man – das heißt, ich – nach einiger Zeit nicht einmal mehr erwartet, dass noch allzu viel passiert – und diese Einstellung ist für einen Film natürlich der Gnadenstoß, denn das durchaus stimmungsvolle Ende geht dadurch etwas unter.

Mein letzter Kritikpunkt ist eigentlich gar keiner; Penélope Cruz spielt nämlich wirklich toll, auch wenn ich sie wie schon im ungleich besseren “Vicky Christina Barcelona” für etwas overhyped halte. Das soll aber nicht weiter stören, sie agiert nämlich auf jeden Fall sehr souverän, was auch für den Rest des Ensembles gilt, und rettet auf diese Weise, was eben noch zu retten ist. Mir persönlich hat das letzten Endes nicht gereicht. Auch wenn ich damit allein auf weiter Flur stehe.

Estos videos representan apenas una puntita de lo que se podrá disfrutar en el musical Nine, a estrenarse el 25 de diciembre en Estados Unidos y el 4 de febrero en Argentina. Dirige Rob Marshall, que ya obtuvo reconocimiento en el género gracias a Chicago, en el 2002.

I am looking forward to this movie!! This is Rob Marshall’s second musical, and the cast alone makes this film worth seeing. The all-star cast consists of Daniel Day-Lewis, Penelope Cruz, Judi Dench, Fergie, Kate Hudson, Nicole Kidman, and Sophia Loren. Nine opens Christmas Day nationwide.

Upon reading the blog of Collin Meyer (http://collinmeyer.wordpress.com/) I decided I would start one of my own. I am not exactly sure what I plan to write about, or how consistent I’ll be with writing, but we’ll see. List of topics for my first post: Joe Mauer, Penélope Cruz (strictly academic, I promise), and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

1. Joe Mauer

Well, for the second time in four years the Minnesota Twins will roster the reigning AL MVP. Joe Mauer, the first catcher to win the award since Pudge Rodriguez in 1999, was the most deserving player. It’s undeniable. He received 27 of the 28 first place votes (who voted for Cabrera?? seriously) because of a .365/.444/.587 line, which backed up his 28 HRs, 96 RBI, 94 R, and 30 doubles. The guy didn’t have a weak spot in his offensive numbers. He also was awarded his fourth THIRD Silver Slugger Award and won his second straight Gold Glove, though he may not have necessarily deserved it. He has reached a level of notoriety in MLB that will net him awards even if he’s not the most deserving. The number one priority for the Twins this off-season should be inking Mauer to a new deal. I’m not talking any of the FDR policy, I’m saying contract extension. If the front office does not sign Mauer, the new stadium will never sell out a game. The fan-base will crumble. I read something online recently that, using some funky formula, Mauer deserved to make $37.5 Million last season. If we’re talking that kind of money, I’m happy to let him walk. I love the guy, and he could very well win 2-3 more MVP trophies in his career, but I’m never willing to pay a guy that much money. This may sound crazy, but I think his contract needs to be incentive-laden in terms of plate appearances, or some similar statistics. Sure, he should make $10 Million no matter what, but he has proven that he isn’t an iron man like Cal Ripken. Why would you guarantee a player$15-20 Million annually if he may miss half of a season? “Because he hits .365″ — OK, fair enough. Maybe that’s why I am not the GM. My approach would probably send Mauer to the Yankees, in which case Minnesota would spiral into a deep depression. Hey, at least we have Brett Favre for another six regular season games.

2. Penélope Cruz

What can I say about this lady? She’s beautiful, talented, and a true comedienne. If you haven’t seen Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Volver, or Elegy, you need to check these out. She is phenomenal. Her earlier work is still solid, in my opinion, even though critics thought the English/Spanish language barrier was too much for her to overcome (her Spanish language films are all great- Abre Los Ojos, Todo sobre mi madre, etc– great films). I am very excited to see Los Abrazos Rotos and Nine. I think she’ll be a serious Oscar contender for many years to come. She has finally achieved success in America, which she deserves to the fullest extent. I just wrote a large research paper about her star image, particularly surrounding the film Vicky Cristina Barcelona, and it was actually FUN. Obviously I do not know her personally, but most of the research I conducted led me to conclude she is nothing less than perfect. She is a very private person these days, and why wouldn’t she be? After dating Tom Cruise, Matthew McConaughey, and supposedly Matt Damon (and making subpar films with each of them), she finally got out of the tabloids, and actually left Hollywood for a few years. She hasn’t made a big budget film since Sahara in 2005. She has been in Elegy, Volver, and VCB since then, and all were good films, mainly because of her. I wrote about her failed attempts at assimilating into mainstream Hollywood through a string of films that critics largely panned. It took her virtual departure from Hollywood to find some legitimate roles than really displayed her wonderful talent. She has received great reviews (yes, I know reviews aren’t everything) in everything since Sahara. I argued that this success was found through her control over her public image. It was actually a difficult paper to write, though it may not sound so. Trust me, researching how she presents herself wasn’t simple, but I think I successfully crafted a solid paper. It was just over twelve pages in length. Straight up, if I can’t be with her (my choice, not hers), I am glad that she’s with Javier Bardem. Their onscreen chemistry is fantastic, I can only imagine they’re just as charming off screen.

3. It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia
It goes without saying, though I am going to anyway, that this show is the funniest on television. It is actually overtaking LOST as my favorite show. Charlie, Dee, Dennis, Frank, and Mac are selfish, egotistical, deceitful, and utterly imbecilic. Dee is the only character I could do without. The four men (I’m not sexist, just honest) are four of the best characters on television right now. This is inspiring me to create a top ten list… I will do that for my next entry. I am going to need some time to configure that list. Charlie and Frank will definitely be on it.

IASIP consists of “the gang” plotting and scheming, often against each other, simply in an attempt to gain something for themselves. In the pilot episode, Mac pretends to be pro-life because a girl he meets at a clinic is good-looking (played by the beautiful Autumn Reeser). He sleeps with her, and she tells him he’s pregnant (as a test), he immediately tells her she needs to get an abortion. He’s shown for who he truly is, and she leaves. That can describe this show in a nut shell. They think of elaborate and idiotic plans to better themselves, and typically make others worse off, and they all fail. They’re never successful, but they keep trying, and that’s why it’s so funny. The best part is that the show was created by and is written/produced primarily by Charlie Day (Charlie), Rob McElhenney (Mac), and Glenn Howerton (Dennis). If we’re getting specific, Rob created it, Glenn and Rob developed it, and Charlie, Rob, and Glenn produce it. Danny Devito (Frank), joined the cast in the second season, and I’ll admit I was skeptical of the addition. The first season was strong, and I feared that he may upset the chemistry, but I was dead wrong. The move was brilliant, and I can’t imagine the show would have lasted this long without him. This show is gold, check it out.

I wrote way more than I had originally planned, and jumped around way too much within my three categories, but that’s how it goes. I don’t have a signature goodbye yet. I probably shouldn’t ever have one. Maybe I’ll delve deeper soon and talk about things that are actually important. I am bored with politics, though. Aren’t you? Seriously, shouldn’t we be united in tough times? All I see is two parties (that aren’t actually all that dissimilar) fighting simply because they’re red and blue. We should all be purple.

Lo acepto, no he visto Singin’ in the Rain ni Amor sin Barreras y ni siquiera soy fanático de cualquier musical (Across the Universe está muy cerca) pero muy probablemente ame esta película. ¿por qué? Por la sencilla razón de que salen en pantalla:

1. Nicole Kidman
2. Penélope Cruz (me fascinó en Los abrazos rotos)
3. Kate Hudson (que sale en un papel decente desde mmm… ¿Almost Famous? y que me encanta y la adoro, a pesar de todas sus malas películas hasta ahora)
4. Y por supuesto, Marion Cotillard, que literalemente la deseo y la adoro con toda mi carne y corazón.
5. Y claro, Daniel Day-Lewis, que #yoconfieso, lo AMO.

Estoy hablando por supuesto de la nueva película de Rob Marshall, la adaptación del éxito de Broadway, Nine.  Que dicho musical de teatro está adaptado de otra obra maestra (me dicen, porque, desgraciadamente, no la he visto) que es 8½.

Director Rob Marshall has confirmed that it is possible that actress Keira Knightley, the protagonist of the series “Pirates of the Caribbean”, to be replaced by Penelope Cruz. Disney has discussed this, but nothing is sure yet, informs the British newspaper “Telegraph”.

It seems that Marshall will advocateffor Penelope, the two working together also at the long awaited musical “Nine”.

Johnny Depp has already reached an agreement with Disney for the role of Jack Sparrow, being paid with no less than 33.6 million dollars, plus additional revenue from ticket sales. For the other three films the actor has been paid about 50 million dollars.
