After spending a good part of the lesson introducing personal descriptions and all the important adjectives, I thought what better way to review our learning than to do a spot of drawing. So, I read out the following phrases and look at the results!

我的头很大
我的眼镜盒是绿色的
我的头发是金黄色的
我又胖又高
我穿红色的裙子
我穿紫色的T恤
我又亲切又厉害

Need to Know Basis

Was this prompt deceptively simple or challenging for you? Was it easy or not to state three important attributes of yourself? And what about that “other” person or persons or group? Stick to basics or perhaps sought a playful response? The most simple questions can sometimes be the most difficult to address. Don’t even have a poem yet? Perhaps read a few of other’s work, be inspired. There’s still plenty of time to discover a poem for yourself!

Leave the links to your poems in the comments of this post, then go visit your fellow writers’ sites and read their work. Remember to leave only positive comments in the spirit of sharing and not critiquing. We look forward to reading your poems!

This is a two part prompt. The first part is to write three things that you feel are most important

This is a two part prompt. The first part is to write three things that you feel are most important for another individual, or group of people, to know about you. It might be good to have a specific individual, or group in mind when you create your three point list. Family, co-workers, a friend, an acquaintance, an individual you would like to meet someday, a famous person or celebrity you would like to speak with, or a group you might wish to join, these are just some possibilities.

The second part of the prompt is to write three things you know about that chosen individual or group of persons. Then tie the two lists together into a poem.

Show us the poem, and optionally, your two lists as well.

Come back next Wednesday to share your poem by posting a link to the poem on your blog. If you don’t have a blog, then please, post your poem right in the comment itself.

You’re invited to respond to the prompt given here, but if you have something else you are just itching to share, please feel welcome in doing that. Our first desire here is to encourage you to write and learn and share.

When leaving comments to other’s poems, please be appreciative and encouraging. We are not a poem “criticism” site (unless someone specifically asks for that). Be kind with each other (always a good idea). Enjoy!

To describe someone, we use the verbs ‘haben’ (to have) or ‘sein’ (to be).

To describe someone, we use the verbs ‘haben’ (to have) or ‘sein’ (to be). These are both key verbs and should be learnt off by heart. Practise repeating them in the order below until you can say the whole verb without looking.

www.languagesonline.org.uk

To practise describing yourself and others, click on the web-site above and then go to:

Beginner’s Units / Wie siehst du aus / beschreibungen 1 – 12

Once you have practised using www.languagesonline.org.uk, look at the table below. You can use this in 2 ways:

a. Play a game with a partner. Throw a die to determine how many squares you move forward. When you land on a square, you must make a sentence in german using the prompts. If your sentence is correct, you stay on the square – if it is not correct, you must go back to where you started from!

b. If you are alone, write a sentence for each of the squares using the prompts given. Then check your answers by clicking on the thumb-nail.
