Chapter fifteen: La théorie du mathématicien

Il y 3 semaines j’essayais d’oublier un fuck*** moth*** de canadien qui m’avais lâché comme un vieux bout de viande de caribou périmé.
Il y a 2 semaines (saoul) j’avais totalement oublier le fuck*** moth*** dans les bras d’un certain moine nommé précédemment et m’écriais “Oh Gosh” entre quelques rugissements bestial qui signifiaient un des meilleurs coup de ma vie !
Il y a 1 semaine j’officialisais ce “coup d’un soir“ par une mise en couple. Heureuse de la “remise de couvert qui s’en suivais”.
Aujourd’hui je suis en plein questionnement sur le fait d’être ou non amoureuse.

Chapitre 15:

Je ne pensais pas cette théorie possible; mais les faits sont là ! Et il faut bien se rendre à l’évidence ! Premièrement il faut savoir que malgré mon caractère quelques peu volage je ne suis pas une de ces filles qui sont du genre à coucher le premier soir mais plutôt de celles qui font monter la pression, le plaisir, l’envie (ou autre) l’espace d’un mois pour être sûr de la réciprocité de la chose. Pour autant vous aurez bien compris que j’aime m’amuser, et l’alcool fait accélérer certaines choses.

Je connaissais déjà celui qu’on appellera dorénavant “le moine” (pour le choix de son déguisement pour le moins en désaccord avec son comportement lors de la soirée d’halloween ^^) depuis plusieurs semaines, néanmoins lors d’une soirée plus qu’alcoolisée et par un concours de circonstances plus que suspect de sa part ^^ nous avons finit par conclure dès le premier soir. Lendemain matin quelque peu gênant pour ma part, ne sachant pas si c’était pour lui un coup d’un soir ou plus. Le résultat comme cités plus haut est que ce fut plus. Mais les semaines passent et vu la précipitation que les choses ont pris, je n’ai pas vraiment eut le temps de forger de réels sentiments. Nous rentrons déjà dans une routine qui me tue l’envie petit à petit. J’ai donc repensé à la théorie qu’une amie m’avait sortie il y a bien longtemps. La théorie du mathématicien !

Théorie du mathématicien: “Bon coup ≠ bon plan cul ≠ bon coup donc bonne relation”

En langage français: “si tu couches direct avec un mec, même si c’est le meilleur coup de ta vie (cas présent), ba t’arrivera pas à t’enlever de la tête que c’est qu”un plan cul qui dur par ce qu’il est bon” Désolé pour les thermes crus utilisée par ma très chère amie mais le fait est que je me retrouve présentement dans cette situation !!! Toujours celons les dires de mon amie, la seule façon d’y remédier est de confronter les opinions de chaque parties pour voir si une longueur d’onde commune peut être trouvée. MMMMhhh mais le problème c’est que dans ce genre de relation la discussion ne fait pas partie des activités favorites des 2 protagonistes !!!

Conseils pour vous les hommes : Même si l’envie est immense, les plans parfaits, le timing excellent, surtout ne pas conclure avec une fille sans en avoir précisément déterminé les conditions avant ! Soit:

Plan cul
relation longue
relation on s’amuse et on avisera dans un futur prochain.

Car dans mon cas, je me retrouve dans les 3 ce qui cré un jolie bordel dans ma cervelle !

Aujourd’hui, une petite lecon sur le fameux “x” anglais qui termine tout échange amical entre deux individus. Vous avez tous déjà vu, à la fin d’une lettre, d’un email, d’un texto ce fameux “x” situé après la signature qui, généralement, signifie “bisous”. Pas aussi simple d’utilisation qu’il n’y paraît, des règles précises s’imposent.

Un seul “x” signifie que vous connaissez la personne, que vous avez une relation en dehors du travail et que l’appréciez. Vous mettez encore peu de sentiments dans cette relation, et vous espérez peut-être plus mais restez prudent. Il s’agit généralement de quelqu’un que vous venez de rencontrez et que vous espérez revoir.

Deux “x” implique que vous pensez être presque amis. S’il s’agit du sexe opposé au vôtre (ou de toute personne pour laquelle vous avez des envies non catholiques), il suggère une possibilité de relation plus profonde et une invitation à se revoir.

Trois “x” et c’est gagné, vous êtes amis, amants, vous vous embrasserez la prochaine fois que vous vous verrez, vous êtes intimes, etc…

Plein de “x”, c’est généralement l’excessivité qui caractérise les filles/femmes, elles adorent mettre plein de “x” pour être sûres que vous compreniez bien qu’elles vous adorent et que vous êtes très importants pour elles. C’est exactement comme celles qui mettent plein de petit coeurs partout, un peu fleur bleue, un peu naives, très attachantes.

Une variante plutot sympathique du “x” est le “o”. Il veut dire “câlin”. C’est encore plus meugnon quoi, au lieu de dire “xxx” (bisou-bisou-bisou) vous dites “xoxoxo” (bisou-câlin-bisou-câlin-bisou-câlin). Finalement, les anglais sont les inventeurs du smiley, ils remplacaient déjà un bisou par un symbol avant l’arrivée d’internet.

Voila, j’espère avoir éclairé votre journée et que vous vous coucherez moins bête ce soir. Sur ce, je retourne bosser.

OM Ships CEO Speaks On Doulos Decommission

As news about the end of Doulos spreads, OM Ships CEO Peter Nicoll shares his thoughts here. The hard decision to end the ship’s ministry had to be made at a speed no-one wanted, leaving the future of the 300 crew presently on board uncertain. The ministry leaders are discussing options with each of them for their next stage. All future port visits have been cancelled. Plans are also being discussed about how to replace Doulos, both in the short and long term. However, as Peter makes clear here, all those on board and at the OM Ships head office continue to believe God has something great planned.

Donor Relations: An Employee's Small Gesture Can Send a Big Message

I experienced this incident first-hand about a month ago. I think it illustrates how even small gestures can have large (and sometimes negative) consequences.

I was interested in registering for two events that were being run by a nonprofit organization. I checked the website but was only able to find details about one of the events. I emailed the organization (at the email address provided) to register for the events and to check if the second event was even taking place:

…I am also interested in the event taking place on [such and such date] but do not see it on the website. Is that still happening? What time will that be?

The response I got was:

…The second event is still happening and can be found on the Events Calendar.

Needless to say, this answer was nowhere close to being helpful; the employee neither provided me with an exact time nor did she provide a link. Instead, the staff person took about 0.3 seconds from his day to advise me to check the Events Calendar — which I had already done at the beginning, but to no avail.

Frustrated and flabbergasted by the seemingly lack of caring, I rewrote my email three times until I was able to send the employee something free of sarcasm and that didn’t sound patronizing (it’s never a good idea to email when annoyed, emails always come out harsher than you intend). If I was a donor, I definitely would have been less inclined to support the organization. I know I’ve seen donors abandon great causes for less.

This story brought into focus a blog post I read a few months ago entitled “Whose Responsibility is Fundraising Anyway?” by Stephen Donshik.

In the non-profit organization who is responsible for raising funds? The real answer is everyone affiliated with the organization…Every staff person has a role in fundraising for the organization and this includes all administrative staff as well as the professionals who deliver the services to the clients…When someone responds in a friendly, “how can I help you” way, this says a great deal. When someone answers the phone and tries to direct the call to the appropriate person with patience this makes a lasting impression. These are the kinds of responses that encourage people to want to support an organization.

With regards to customer relations, it is critical that every employee is on the same (and correct) page. A little training and a smile can go a long way.

Business are built on a base of assets; cash, receivables, inventories, patents, trademarks, equipment, and real estate. But in the final analysis, “business is people.” Regardless of the level of investment in all your other assets, it’s your people who will ultimately determine the performance of your business.

I was in the parts/service area of an auto dealership recently. The service managers was completing a job estimate for another customer who had phoned in a request. One of the employees of the parts department was standing near by. He was leaning back against a desk with his arms crossed in front of his chest. His bearing lead me to believe that he held a responsible position, perhaps he was the parts manager.

The service manager turned from his desk and extended some paperwork in the direction of the parts department employee and said, “I’ll need an estimate on these parts to complete this job.”

The parts manager remained fixed with crossed arms as he turned his head to look at the clock on the wall which read 4:45 PM. He then smirked and replied, “It’ll have to be tomorrow, its five o’clock and we’re closed.” Someone in the background said that tomorrow was Saturday. He shirked his shoulders and said, “I guess it’ll be Monday then.”

The story sounds a bit dramatic, but I’m afraid its an altogether too commonplace occurrence. With all the time, effort, and money that has been spent by American industry, particularly the automobile industry, to improve customer service and productivity, this is a good reminder that money doesn’t solve problems, people do!

That same week I went to the movies with one of my daughters. The movie that we wanted to see was playing at one of those new theaters that really is several little theaters combined. After a brief wait in line, it was our turn to buy our tickets.

I asked for two tickets to the movie we had chosen. The ticket vendor politely replied that there were only front row seats remaining for the seven o’clock show. Front row seats in a movie theater are not such a good deal. We were about to leave, but made a last minute decision to buy tickets to one of the other movies that was scheduled to begin at about the same time.

As we proceeded to our show, I stuck my head into the door for the movie that we had been told there were only front row seats remaining. The theater was half empty!

I’m certain that the ticket sales person hadn’t intentionally mislead us, but the result of that misinformation was almost a lost sale. How many others in that line decided to walk away?

Another example. I was recently in a well known restaurant for dinner with my family. One of my children asked the waitress for directions to the rest rooms. A puzzled look came over her face and she said she wasn’t sure where they were either. I should have gotten up and left right then!

The waitress was more than pleasant and was embarrassed as she explained that she was new on the job. What kind of managers were responsible for putting a new employee in a situation like that? While you might disregard this as a poorly managed establishment, I suggest that the situation repeats itself all too frequently throughout business and industry. This was not an otherwise poorly run business.

Why do some employees quit at 4:45 on Friday afternoon why others remain on the job, sometimes long after closing time, until they’ve met all their responsibilities? Do you suppose that ticket sales person would have passed on that erroneous information if her income was dependent on how many tickets she sold that evening? Is it fair for an employer to send an employee out to do a job without first training them properly.

As you ponder your assets and liabilities at the start of this new year, determine on which side of the balance sheet your human resources are. In the final analysis, “business is people”. They can make you or break you. You get to make the decision!

Mistake # 95: Let there be gossip!

How many companies have your worked for where gossip was king?! I have had plenty in my day. And, when a company is expecting to conduct layoffs, the gossip becomes rampant; people become fearful; and production goes down the tubes.

An article in the NY Times illustrates how one company eliminated gossiping. When hired, an “agreement to values” is signed so that people are not talked about behind someone’s back. If so, the company has the right to let the individual go, since it is a breach of their agreement. Most importantly, the company management keeps information, including layoffs, timing, reasons for layoffs, all out in the open. Knowing what is expected of each individual, and holding each other accountable, eliminates the need for office gossip.

Further, the company identified how employees can communicate with diverse personalities within the company. Can you imagine how they can be successful with the diverse personalities of your customers?!

Awesome company! Bravo!

Ok ok… je viens de réaliser que j’ai abandonné mes nombreux fans…

Des excuses ne sont jamais très convaincantes, mais je vais les cracher quand même…

Depuis le mois juillet, je blogue pour le synchro-blogue. En fait, il est surtout important de préciser que je suis payé pour bloguer. J’espère qu’il est donc facile de comprendre qu’entre des blogues payants, les études et le divertissement, je n’ai pas beaucoup de motivation pour bloguer ici, gratuitement.

Oui, vous avez raison. Je suis maintenant un capitaliste pourri. Je vendrais ma mère pour quelques misérables billets verts.

Bah, si vous pensez ça, vous ne me connaissez vraiment pas. Comme le dit la chanson : « Je vous emmerde ».

Mais non, ce n’est pas moi. Je ne suis pas vulgaire comme ça…

C’est drôle, j’ai juste l’impression de me justifier et de m’excuser. J’ai peut-être un problème!

Tout ça pour dire que si vous m’admirez au point de vouloir lire tout ce que j’écris, vous pouvez me lire sur le synchro-blogue. Sinon, vous perdez votre temps à venir ici pour vous abreuver de mes douces paroles.

Je marchais sur ma rue.. pis jme disais que.. j’aimerais ça me revoir dans 2 ans.. remarcher la même rue..

J’aurais le même physique ou presque. Les même cheveux peut-être.. qui sait.

L’important ce n’est pas vraiment ces détails. Je me demande plus.. à quoi je penserai ? Qui serais-je ?

Le même Thoma qui marche présentement, un Thoma rempli de problèmes ou un thoma sur le crack.

Blonde, femme, enfants ?

Je regarderai la rue avec ses mêmes yeux. Ces mêmes yeux tristes qui se demandent ce que la vie va m’apporté. Ces yeux qui regardent encore ceux qui passent… qui les regardent indifférement. Malgré l’historie que nous partageons peut-être. Malgré le bon ami que nous avons peut-être en commun.

Tomberais-je encore en amour avec cette jolie demoiselle que je viens de croiser. Vais-je encore écrire un article du genre en revenant.

Qui serais-je alors ?

Devrais-je vraiment penser à ce genre de truc…

It’s always nice to be surprised by people – in a good way, not a bad way!

I remember sitting on a log with a Sales Director from Greene King on a course discussing one of his junior members of staff. He had seen a whole new side to him during an outdoor training course and it had made him reconsider his future potential with the company.

In reality how often do we get to see our colleagues and team members outside work? We might see them singing out of tune at the Christmas karaoke party after a few too many mulled wines but do we see them in an environment where they can excel?

With such fierce competition in the workplace it’s not always easy to spot someone’s hidden depths whilst still at work. You get a good feel for how they operate; whether they hit their targets; whether they communicate effectively. But you don’t always get to see specific skills such as conflict resolution, inspirational leadership, project management etc. Sometimes it requires a step away from the norm for talent to emerge.

A recession is a great time to invest in talent identification and training. If you can find the hidden gems amongst your team – those people with bags of potential, lots of energy and a creative approach to work – and then invest in them, they will stay with you because you have shown your commitment to them. And they are the ones who will drive your company forward and out of recession.

But don’t just rely on your impressions in the workplace. Think creatively about how you can get staff away from the office and performing so that you can see their true talent and potential emerge.
