Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 é mais um jogo da estrondosa série de games de futebol da Konami. O concorrente de FIFA 09 é caracterizado fortemente pela inovação na inteligência artificial em comparação com os outros títulos da franquia. Goleiros e zagueiros foram os principais alvos da Konami durante o desenvolvimento do game.

A edição 2009 envolve o jogador fortemente com gráficos belíssimos e sons emocionantes. Além disso, a mistura entre simulação e arcade está mais presente do que nunca, visto que a jogabilidade está melhorada e a praticidade dos comandos continua firme e forte.

O modo Become a Legend aparece para combater frontalmente com o modo Be a Pro de FIFA. Em Become a Legend, o gamer tem a chance de criar seu próprio atleta e provar ao mundo que seu esportista é o melhor jogador de futebol de todos os tempos. Dentro de campo, esse modo faz com que o jogador possa controlar apenas o atleta criado. Partidas online podem ser disputas entre os jogadores também dentro desse modo de jogo.

When Authenticity isn’t really needed.

In a day and age where sports games such as NHL 08, NBA 2K08, FIFA08 and others feature not only great game-play and a realistic feel offering authentic team jerseys, players and team names, there has been one game that has managed to stay up the top in terms of game-play and great fun with-out featuring the full authentic entourage, Pro Evolution Soccer.

The Pro Evolution franchise is known for it’s excellent game-play, with some features being the pace of the game feeling just right on the dot, capturing the atmosphere of the beautiful game and also letting the gamer feel like they are apart of the intense competitiveness. Pro Evolution 2008 is the 2nd installment into the franchise on the Xbox 360 and with a year to improve over last years entry, Konami haven’t really put much effort to make this game break away and ensure itself to stay on the top.

Rather than trying to be a football simulation game for an unknown reason it plays more like an arcade version of football with the pace being a little too fast and furious. Sure football is a fast paced game where quick thinking is needed but everything that happens on the screen is a little too frantic. This means that the player is not being able to keep up with everything and there are times where the pace of the game needs to slow down to allow some structured passes but unfortunately PES2008 is just one rollercoaster from start to finish.

Team-vision which is a new feature added to game basically means if your style of play is passing out to the wing and crossing balls in to the centre for headers the AI will adapt to your style of play and start defending the wings to stop you. This isn’t very noticeable most of the time, and while the computer vows to stop you in your tracks in terms of your play, your team-mates usually decide to not guard the computer player they are supposed to meaning the AI can give through balls and he is always free to do as he pleases. This is not only frustrating but annoying, as if you are winning 1-0 and it’s the last 5 minutes of the game and the AI does a through ball the player will be free and most definitely score a goal to tie the match.

There is much fun to be had with PES2008 offline offering Master League, League and Cup. Master League is an interesting feature starting off with a nice intro as to what you shall be doing you select a team and move up in the ranks. Basically you’re the underdogs and you need to work hard and show yourself in every game and get the top. Winning matches and league cup gives you the ability to be able to purchase star players from major football teams and means that your team can only get better and better.

Now while this is a great underdog story there is one problem. You are able to choose some of the best teams in the world today Barcelona, Real Madrid to name a few, meaning that if you’re good at this game then winning won’t be a problem. It would have been better if you had a list of low ranking teams and then earning the ability to rise in the ranks, would have been much more satisfying and deserving.

Graphics wise, PES2008 looks great running in 1080p which is a huge bonus, but it doesn’t take advantage of the 360’s potential all that well, with all 15 stadiums looking bland and at times there is huge drop in the frame rate during cut-scenes. Player models are some of the best I have seen in a football game looking realistically like their human counter-parts. You are also able to see shirts and shorts crease like in real life and not only that, but the movement of the players is also fluid & impressive.

Commentary is basic and uninteresting. Most of the time in a match there is little effort by the commentator to really comment of what is happening and this just reinforces the fact that Konami haven’t really fleshed out the game to offer something special. Free kicks and penalties slow down the game a lot with you having to wait at least 6-8 seconds for the referee to blow his whistle and then you can continue.

While the game plays great and offers hours of fun offline, online is a different story. If you have a friend who owns this game or someone on your friends list then online can be a ton of fun, but unless you do then online is a no go zone. Not only because there is a lack of an Australian community for the game but that it is very deceiving, with some games showing green bars meaning a lag free game, although once you enter it and the match begins think Goku from Dragonball Z teleporting all over the map, that’s how online plays out.

Along with the lag, online has been stripped and is bare-boned in terms of features with no sign of creating your own tournaments, leagues or cups which is disappointing as only ranked and unranked matches are available. I mean this “is” Xbox live we’re talking about, giving the developer the ability to include countless features to ensure that PES online is better than any other football game can offer.

PES2008 does its job to deliver a good solid serving of fun, excitement, competitiveness and intensity like no other. Although with games like FIFA08 that have many online features and direct feeds into the world of football and what is happening in it, Konami need to ask themselves, “Are we trying our hardest to have the best football game out there?”

Hoy vamos a hablar de la última entrega de la saga PES.

Desde hace años ya quedó bastante claro que PES y Fifa eran los dos rivales en el campo de batalla de los videojuegos de simulación de futbol. Cada año una nueva entrega ve el mercado, con nuevas alineaciones, nuevas opciones, nuevas caras… ¿o no?

Esta vez PES nos ha dado una sorpresa, pero mala. La evolución respecto a la entrega anterior es muy pobre, al menos inferior a la que cabria esperar para un videojuego de su nivel. Por eso, vamos a compararlo (quizás sea algo que me dice el subconsciente) algo más con el anterior, el PES6.

Igualmente es muy buen juego, como siempre la jugabilidad es excelente, han incrementado los movimientos de los jugadores y los videos de animación; cuando sale un balón de banda, se comente una falta o se saca un corner. Podemos ver a los jugadores protestar más, interaccionar más entre ellos e incluso saludarse cuando van a ser sustituidos. Aunque si es verdad que algunos movimientos, por ejemplo al correr, son muy irreales.

Los gráficos son muy buenos, pero fallan las caras. Tenemos caras excepcionales, como la de Raul o C. Ronaldo, y otras, como la de D’Alessandro, que no sabemos muy bien si se han basado en la foto de uno de los programadores porque no encontraban la original o es que sencillamente no les apetecía buscarla.

Otra cosa bastante interesante es la banda sonora, con un montón de canciones nuevas que amenizan bastante el largo tiempo que te puedes pasar merodeando por los menús, porque lo que si tenemos, como viene siendo normal en PES, son muchas opciones y tipos de juego diferentes.

En el modo Liga Master, el más completo de todos, han evolucionado bastantes aspectos, haciéndolo más real.

En juego no es demasiado difícil, al principio hay que cogerle la técnica, pero al final incluso los partidos contra los equipos buenos en nivel destacado se nos harán fáciles de ganar, asi que si comenzamos una liga master, os recomiendo que sea con un equipo pequeño, no demasiado bueno.

En fin, un juego muy divertido, con muy buenos gráficos, una banda sonora entretenida, real, pero que deja el mal sabor de boca de no haber evolucionado lo suficiente.

P.D.: Las imágenes las he capturado de la versión PC, las de PS3 o Xbox tienen mejores gráficos.

Un modo de juego exclusivo para Wii del nuevo Pro 2008 será la posibilidad de jugar con tus Mii.

La verdad me muero de ganas de jugar con mi Mii personal en la delantera del Sevilla

Y hacerme un equipazo con mis mejores personajes (Peter Griffin, Darth Vader, Torrente, Aznar…)

Wesentliche Neuerung in PES 2008 ist Teamvision, ein einzigartiges, eigens von Konami entwickeltes, lernfähiges KI System. Teamvision bringt als ausgeklügelte und anpassungsfähige Künstliche Intelligenz eine ganz besondere Komponente ins Spiel: Das System lernt und passt sich dem individuellen Stil des Spielers an. Damit ist die KI in der Lage, beispielsweise neue Wege für Angriffe zu ergründen oder vorangegangene Aktionen zu parieren und bereits gemachte Fehler zu verhindern. Ergebnis: Der Spielfluss spiegelt mehr denn je den echten Fußball wider, mit all seinen taktischen Anpassungen und variablen Spielzügen.

Die Pro Evolution Soccer-Serie ist seit je her bekannt für ihr flüssiges und realistisches Gameplay. Mit der Einführung von Teamvision als Grundlage des neuen Teils gewinnt die Serie nun einen weiteren, entscheidenden Vorteil hinzu. Bereits 1996 entwickelten die Programmierer eine separate Ballphysik, die in Pro Evolution Soccer seitdem zu einem guten Teil für das unverwechselbare Spielgefühl sorgt. Und das runde Leder gehorcht auch in PES 2008 seiner eigenen Physik und schafft in Kombination mit der neuen KI ständig wechselnde Spielsituationen. Verteidiger sind nun noch geschickter darin, die Räume eng zu machen und Torschüsse abzublocken.

Auch das Passspiel wurde überarbeitet: Mitspieler erkennen und nutzen den ihnen zur Verfügung stehenden Raum, um den Ball hin und her zu passen. Die Weiterentwicklung der unmittelbaren Kontrolle über die Kicker hat zur Folge, dass beim Dribbling eine noch exaktere Steuerung möglich ist. So wurde eine Reihe von einfallsreichen Tricks ergänzt, um Verteidiger zu umgehen und sich einen Vorteil zu verschaffen.

Was zählt, ist auf dem Platz: In Verbindung mit dem Teamvision System wurde jeder spielerische Aspekt in Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 überarbeitet und neu abgestimmt, um die Balance und strategische Tiefe von erstklassigem Fußball zu erreichen. Beispiel Standardsituationen: Die Spieler haben jetzt die volle Kontrolle über die Anzahl der eingesetzten Teamkollegen innerhalb der Freistoßmauer. Damit wurde eine wichtige taktische Komponente vom realen Fußball erstmals auch auf dem Bildschirm umgesetzt.
Zur Gestaltung der Standardsituationen gibt es außerdem noch mehr Optionen, mit deren Hilfe die Spieler besser einsetzbar sind – individuell im Hinblick auf ihre jeweiligen Talente innerhalb der Mannschaft.

In diesem Jahr feiert die Serie ihr Debüt auf PLAYSTATION 3 und ihr zweites Erscheinen auf Xbox 360. Ebenso wie die Fassung für PC-DVD wurden die Next Generation Versionen von Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 auch optisch erheblich verbessert und weiterentwickelt. Die High Definition-Möglichkeiten der Hardware-Plattformen wurden genutzt, um das Aussehen und die Animationen der Spieler auf höchstes Niveau zu heben: Die Gesichter der Spieler spiegeln ihre Emotionen verblüffend echt wieder; selbst Details bei den Trikots sind im Spielverlauf zu sehen.
Alle „Next Gen“ Versionen profitieren zudem von einem ausführlichen Edit Modus, mit dem die Spieler ihr PES-Erlebnis individuell an die eigenen Bedürfnisse anpassen können.
