Hello all. I’ve been so very behind with blogging lately. Its been a busy time! I just wanted to share a bunch of photos before I take off for a little break this week. Here’s what I’ve been up to lately…

This piece is SO FUN and on such a lovely lady! Merlin bird of prey with geometric designs, holding a braid in its claws. Also, a little Bruce Springsteen shout out. I rreeeeeaaaalllly want to do more work with these kind of elements.

I started this tattoo last night and it is my last work before vacation! Anita is lovely and brought me a bottle of wine. Thanks Anita!

Memories

Description :

Seeing this card this morning it brings up lots of different emotions and areas of what memories mean to me.

My passion for photography started with a beautiful memory of part of my life and family when I was a single woman living alone with my beautiful Husky Misty by my side. Way back then it was the start of the internet and digital camera I being low on cash thought that getting one of those fancy little gadgets that took photos and doubled as a web cam was a great idea.

My first photo good photo was of Misty … I loved that dog and still do she is long gone now but will forever be in my memory and because of my new found passion I have many photos of her to remember her by.

I urge everyone to get many photos of their family and friends and fur kids to remember them by and at least once get some professional photos done even of the pets I did get some of Misty done the photographer thought I was crazy but he did it was not thought of much back then to photograph your pets but she was my child and one of my best friends I am so glad I did.

Memories are a beautiful thing but they can also haunt you and keep you back from memories of the beautiful Misty that drifts me through meeting a man and although that was a wonderful time and worthy of remembering it can also and probably still does in a way keep me from moving on because that memory is so deep and was great you can cling to it and think that it was the best memory and now it’s over nothing can compare so why try for something new with someone new but we should it will never compare to what has gone before but it could be wonderfully different and bring a lot of happy new memories .

Using memories where you have moved on like how when Misty went over the rainbow bridge I never thought I would find another kindred soul like her but eventually I was forced by family to bring a beautiful puppy into my memory banks and that was Ellie and I am so glad I did she was beautiful and an amazing kindred spirit.

Now Billy is filling my days with new wonder and laughter he is still a puppy at heart only being around a year old and as he gets his confidence back he is a great soul and a very funny young boy.

The memories card also reminds me of one of my major goals for this year.

To improve my memory.

I have written this goal in my 2013 Incredible Life Journal by Leonie Dawson

(it’s never to late to start either of those just click on the words to find out more)

I have bit the bullet and paid for membership with the Luminosity website for brain training and although you are playing games it really does highlight how bad I have become at basic things like quick maths and finding words quickly even working on remembering names and orders in a mock café they are fun but really do work the brain .

I want to be able to remember the extra details that photos can’t provide so when I look at that photo of Misty I will remember always that the day before she had run away down the street and I had to chase her into someone’s backyard to get her back ..lol… lovely soul Misty but a husky she knew how to run and not how to get back home.

So when I post a oracle card each day for everyone on my Rainbow Farm Photography Facebook page and when I do indepths readings for you I urge you to read the reading and meaning I give you but also really look at the image and meaning and see what comes up in your own mind to see what each card means for you .. what your memory brings to you that you need to concentrate on and work through you would be surprised how your insight will guide you through to what you need to be working on.

It got off to a funny start as Angela could not find the way and got lost, it was a very funny story how she eventually got to us!

Cat Portrait of Tabby by Liz Marshall

This adorable tabby cat is the prize for the Kid’s Art contest that we organized with Muddy Buddy and Artisan Framing last December.  The cat’s portrait is based on the photo provided by the owner.  The cat portrait is watercolor, and 8×10.  Yep, for those of you who paint with watercolor, that was a LOT of Thalo Red! I love the vibrant feeling of this piece of “cat art” and hope the owners like it too!

I love scenes like this. Dramatic dark skies and a brightly lit foreground with such vivid colours. This was a quickly taken photograph. It might look bonnie but believe me, those clouds are being driven rapidly by the most brutal, freezing north-easterly. It’s a wind that brings tears to your eyes and bites your face, turning it numb. We’ve endured this wind, sometimes gale-force, for about three days now – even the ducks are hiding under the bushes! So, essential outdoor chores only which is fine, as this week I’ve been busy re-decorating the conservatory, where our soon-to-be-arriving bed and breakfast guests of the new season will enjoy their breakfast.

Not a pretty sight but I’ve finished it now and given the place a spring-clean too. It may be horribly cold outside but now that the sun rises over the hill opposite much earlier in the day, at least it’s been pleasantly warm while I’ve been working. You might be able to see some other seasonal preparations of a different kind on the table in the background. A propagating tray with tomato, pepper and chilli seedlings inside and there’s also another tray outside the propagator containing some newly germinated red cabbage and cauliflower seedlings.

As it’s Sunday and my re-decorating complete, I’ve spent most of the day completing a portrait of Patches, this time using coloured pencils on black pastel paper.

Trooper’s Story:  Long story short, Trooper was rescued after the HSMO was called about a badly injured pit bull puppy on November 21, 2012.  He had been dragged over a mile down Highway 55 by a man who was unaware of the puppy tethered to the back of his truck (thanks to surveillance footage, the HSMO’s Animal Cruelty Task Force and St. Louis City Police Department we now know how Trooper was put in this situation). Unsurprisingly Trooper had a long road to recovery ahead of him, but slowly he began responding to the treatment provided to the critical wounds that were acquired from this traumatic event, including a leg that vets were considering amputating, and he is back to being the playful little boy that everyone hoped he would be.

Trooper is still being cared for at the HSMO, but eventually he will be put up for adoption, going to a one lucky family among the thousands who have already sent in requests to add Trooper to their home.  To that family, just know, I’ve heard he loves string cheese.

Notes on the Drawing: Seeing as my mom is a volunteer at the HSMO, it shouldn’t really be a surprise that this portrait was her idea (she also suggested Brownie and Charlotte as well).  She’s always volunteering my time like this without asking me first… [Deep sigh] Just kidding mom!  I’m just lashing out because she’s seen Trooper in person and I haven’t…  Anyway, with her help, I was able to get permission from the HSMO to use an image of Trooper to create this portrait, with it actually being their idea to do something involving before/after images.

The portion in the lower left corner was based on an image that was taken the day he was rescued after he was checked out and bandaged up.  You can still see some of his wounds on his front leg of the larger portrait, but clearly he has come really far, with fur growing back in a lot of the areas that had been scraped clean.  But the best part of that image is his big ol’ smile!

Snow Dog

Well, we got a total of 15 inches of snow at our house yesterday.  They were calling for 12-24 inches so I consider us lucky! They were so certain it would be a great deal of snow that we had both The Weather Channel and The Today Show’s Al Roker broadcasting from our little town of Front Royal, VA.
