Schools Christmas Card Competition a huge success

The Hop Farm are delighted to announce their first ever Christmas experience – SANTA’S MAGICAL KINGDOM.  Launching on Saturday 14^th November, it is the only attraction of its kind in Kent – with over 50,000 tickets available for this two and a half hour experience.

The unrivalled attraction features Christmas scenes bought to life through magic tunnels, life-size moving characters, special effects, magical train rides and animated animals. With a forty-five minute Christmas circus pantomime and, of course, a visit to Father Christmas, it really is the ultimate festive experience for the whole family!

To celebrate the launch of this spectacular new Christmas experience, The Hop Farm decided to spread the Christmas cheer through their ‘Santa’s Magical Kingdom Christmas Card Competition’. The competition saw children from various schools competing to win a full class trip to the venue’s Santa’s Magical Kingdom experience; with a grand monetary value of over £1,200, as well as a runner-up prize for one lucky family. 

Over 40 schools were contacted about taking part in the competition and entries have flooded in, with children keen to show off their artistic prowess and win a trip to the festive highlight of the year.

Peter Bull announced his winners this week:

Winner – Sayema Begum, Brook Primary School, Hackney

Runner Up – Katie Black, Grays Farm Primary School, Orpington

Maple Class in Brook Primary School will be attending Santa’s Magical Kingdom on Thursday 19^th November.

We came up with the Christmas card competition to get the kids involved in the fun, acknowledge their talent and reward the hard work of their school. The entries have been fantastic!”

 Or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb

There are so many characters, so many moments. I will not even try to breakdown Kubrick’s 1964 classic, yet I will simply tell you of my experience. We all know the famous seen of Major Kong riding the nuke, to tell the truth that’s what made me find this movie. I thought that scene alone was sick, like that nigga must be bugging to do that so I had to check. What I found was a classic that disturbed me like no other movie I had seen before. The dialogue is humorous yet very black, at the same time you feel as if its still all rational. George C. Scott is known for his dramatic roles, but god damn this muthafucka had me rolling in this film. The over the top war ready general he played was superb (plus nigga chewed mad gum that shit was like crack back then I think lol). Peter Sellers we all know was the fucking man playing, Mandrake, The President and then of course Dr. Strangelove. Sterling Hayden is the man too though, I felt his role as Jack D. Ripper (get it) that cat be bugging too talking about bodily fluids and how he be with chicks but don’t bust in them! He onto something cause he don’t want no one especially the ruskies stealing his essence. The main plot concerns a mentally unstable Air Force general who orders a 1^st nuke attack on Russia, and follows the Prez, his advisors, the Joint Chiefs and a (RAF) officer as they try to recall the bombers to prevent a nuclear apocalypse, as the crew of one B-52 attempt to deliver their bomb. Peep the damn flick there is way too much for me to say on this film, watch and enjoy.

The song at the end of the film is very eerie yet soothing but it fits so perfect. Vera Lynn’s  ”We’ll Meet Again”. Good look Ben

Dagbladet hadde nylig en sak titulert Mashup-Peter (24) mikser Madonna og og Justin, som omhandler mashup-artisten Peter Bull og hans prosjekt Norwegian Recycle. En kamerat jeg bodde med tidligere spilte en del kule mashup-sanger på fester, og minnene om disse lokket meg inn til Dagbladets IM-intervju av den norske artisten som for tiden studerer audio-enginering i Australia. Til å ha drevet med mashup i et halvt års tid har karen et imponerende talent, for det er lenge siden jeg har hørt så god mashup.

Nå skal jeg ikke på noen måte titulere meg som en hengiven og erfaren mashup-lytter. Det jeg har hørt er tidligere nevnte fest-sanger, samt et tilfeldig samlealbum i ny og ne (og selvfølgelig den imponerende Boulevard of Broken Songs av Party Ben). De tilfeldige samlealbumene, samt min generelle avsmak for hip-hop (hvis inntrykk jeg har er det mest populære å lage mashup av), gjorde at jeg aldri har holdt denne musikkformen særlig høyt i status, bortsett fra den generelle gleden av å synge med på kjente sanger mikset i hytt og pine (en glede som kjennes billig når man hører sangene dagen derpå).

Jeg har nå hørt gjennom Donkey Business og halvveis av So Far, samt flere enkeltutgivelser (alt kan lastes ned gratis gjennom torrenter lenket fra sidene), og det har gitt meg mersmak. Spesielt sterke syns jeg When Diddy’s Gone (Donkey Kong Country – Aquatic Ambiance, Eminem – When I’m Gone) og Runaway Dixie (Donkey Kong Country 2 – Forest Interlude, Ludacris feat. Mary J. Blige – Runaway Love) er, med Billie Jean Kong (Donkey Kong Country – Fear Factory, Michael Jackson – Billie Jean) og Lose Your Fantasy (Eminem – Lose Yourself, Final Fantasy 7 Soundtrack – Battle Theme) som to veldig festlige innslag (sistnevnte er litt vanskelig å svelge til tider, men hallo, karen har klart å mikse Battle Theme fra FF7!=D).
