I have got to start going to bed at a normal time. I feel so horrible right now. I’ve been going to bed at about 4 in the morning for the last week. Ugh. I keep doing things and then not remembering I did them or having conversations with people that I dont remember. And my eyes hurt like whoa. And my legs.  I dont know if that’s a side effect or not. So yeah. Basically I just need sleep. But! I watched a season and a half of heroes in three and a half days and I’m happy to report I am fully caught up and totally loving it again. Why would I ever leave it? It’s so great! I’m wondering if Peter will ever get his full power back cause he used to be so epic and amazing but now he’s like..one ability at a time boringness. And this latest episode I so thought Claire was gonna bust out at the dinner table that she was gay for Gretchen, not that she wanted to quit college. Seemed like the more dramatic twist and Heroes looooves those. Kay. I’m gonna run off now and maybe fall asleep on the floor of my office for a little nap. Wouldn’t be the first time.

Just finished the third season. It was a good season over all. Pretty much who started out bad was bad in the end and who started out good was good in the end. Shocking. But along the way it was twisty and highly entertaining. And Angela Petrelli stopped being so evil and started showing us some history so she went up on my list. Peter Petrelli is still my favorite despite the fact that he lost all his cool abilities (I’m hopping he recovers the ability to have more than one ability. niner) and he’s always been my favorite. Him and Claire. They pwn the show. Way too graphic with the violence. I wish Syler would just die already. Yeah, he’s an interesting character but he’s also repulsive and he’s just not cool enough to make up for that amount of violence. Kay. Starting the fourth season this week. For right now it’s bed time. G’night people.

Hey. So I’m just chillin’. Kinda bored. Kinda want human contact. More than human contact, however, I want to watch more heroes. Man. I’m addicted to that show all over again! Peter Petrelli is the best. Or Claire. Those are my favorites. Oh and Hiro. Yup. Top three right there. So yeah. Roller Derby is tomorrow night. I’m super excited. Super duper excited. That’s uh..basically all I know. Having a good day. I’m pretty peppy. Have been for quite a few days now. How’s it going out there in cyber land?

Ali, ex-Lunatic de son état. Ecoeuré du rap game il coulait des jours paisibles et des bronzes bien durs à force de bouffer du riz. Parce que là bas on bouffe que ça, du riz.
Il se pensait loin de tout, mais un jour, un mystérieux voyageur arrive aux abords de sa demeure isolée.

Ali -… C’est la consternation. Es tu bien conscient que mon album est sorti en 2005 ? Soit 4 ans avant le tien ? et que d’ailleurs j’avais déjà fait un son classique : Le code de la rue. et loin de moi l’idée de porter des jugements de valeur, mais il me semble que le tien qui s’appelle pareil, et bien c’est même pas du loukoum à côté.
Kennedy -… Disons que tu t’en tires bien… Bon bah je vais te laisser… Ah au fait je suis avec toi cousin ! Nique le jambon !

Kennedy était donc rentré chez lui comptant les minutes qui le séparaient encore de son heure pourtant proche.
Lorsque tout à coup, on sonne à sa porte. Il va ouvrir et tombe nez à nez avec un individu doté d’une étrange tête.
Youssoupha -Salut Kennedy, il va falloir que t’arrêtes de me pomper.
Kennedy- Quoi ?
Youssoupha – Non mais ho ! Quand tu dis “je suis le rappeur préféré de ton rappeur préféré” moi je dis “Je suis peut-être le rappeur préféré de ton rappeur préféré » dans mon album qui vient de sortir là.
Kennedy – oh merde…

Evil Butterfly Man? Momo dead? Sysy, Uncle Peter and Nathan in one room? Hiro Nakamura from ze future?

Heroes’ 9th episode in season four starts with Hiro and Samuel arguing over Charlie, that Hiro will not get Charlie back unless Hiro goes back in time by 8 weeks and retrieves something Mohinder Suresh destroyed. The show takes us back to see Mohinder arguing with his girlfriend Mira about his father’s research (author says with Indian accent). He throws the box of research away and gets on with his life, until he is kept awake because of the intrigue his father’s work brings him. He gets out of bed, digs through the box and finds a film reel titled “Samuel” (Author wants you to know that she got super excited at this point). Mohinder hooks the reel up to a projector and sits back in the darkness to watch his a young Chandra Suresh, his father, proclaim to the camera about earthquakes and tremors and other earthly things coming from a pregnant woman. Well this woman is Samuel Sullivan’s mother and the video pretty much tells us that Samuel’s powers are really, really cool. Anyway, Mohinder uses some equations from his dad’s film to create a compass (which the audience knows has been used by Samuel) and he falls asleep. Mira wakes him up and tells him that if he goes on an adventure, she will not wait for him (beeotch!). Mohinder leaves for the Carnival and mets Joseph Sullivan (Author was really excited at this point too) who tells him that Samuel is his brother. They go to meet Samuel (Author wants to tell you that she was really excited when she saw Samuel as he looked VERY bad ass in black leather), tell him a bogus story about Mohinder writing a book about traveling carnies then Joseph sends Samuel to a fire (Samuel’s hot enough, Joseph!) and leads Mohinder inside the trailer. They speak of Samuel’s ability and Joseph pretty much says “No way in HELL am I going to let Samuel’s ability get more powerful” so Momo leaves (Author got tired of typing out his name so resorted to Revvie’s nickname for her secret lover). Little do Joseph and Momo know, Samuel was outside listening in! So, Momo is at his hotel room telling Mira’s answering machine to please forgive him. Then he takes out the reel, sets it in a trash can, lights a match and drops it. Hiro freezes time as the match is in midair. He switches the reels and time returns. Samuel barges into Momo’s room to watch the flames slowly eat the reel. Samuel argues with Momo over it, shows him a rock that he crushes with his terrakinesis then makes the rock bits plunge into Momo’s chest. Panicked, Samuel flees and Momo falls back and is apparently dead. Then, MIRACLE OF MIRACLES, Momo is ALIVE! Hiro pops out from behind the bed as Momo is wondering what the heck just happened. Hiro had put a Kevlar vest to protect Momo from the future Hiro saw ’cause his power messed up and was first brought to the hotel 10 minutes later. Hiro asks Momo to hide for 8 weeks and pretend he’s dead so Samuel doesn’t really kill him. Momo refuses so Hiro teleports him somewhere. We next see Hiro give present day Samuel the reel and ask for Charlie. Samuel doesn’t comply. Then we see Momo in a mental institution (which REALLY cracked the Author up!!!). *end Hiro/Mohinder*

The rest of the episode was hilarious, suspenseful, and AMAZING! The hospital scene with Peter, Nathan, and Sylar (and Parkman…) was HOT (except Parkman, sorry Grunny). Tracy freezing Claire cracked me UP! Samuel is MY evil butterfly man. And I really recommend that you save #Heroes and #WatchHeroesLive Mondays 9/8c on NBC.

I don’t think I can get drunk

I don’t normally drink, and before last night the last time I had drank was probably Feb, but even then it was only a couple. I’ve never been to the point where I’m falling over, or not remembering parts of my night, or even doing things I wouldn’t normally do.

I went out last night fully intending to drink and probably get drunk and have a good night with some old friends, but when I came home I was sitting in the taxi thinking “I could easily have drove home, I feel perfectly fine” - not that I would have even if I did have the car.

It’s not as if I hadn’t drunk much either, I’d had a double archers and lemonade, 3 jagerbombs and 1 and a half woo woos – which for me is a lot. I’d barely eaten anything either, only thing I’d had all day was just a couple of chips before I left the house… so the alcohol should have affected me a lot more than it did. Instead, me and Emma spent the night looking for someone who looks like Peter Petrelli. We failed.

I am glad that because I seemingly don’t get drunk, I don’t get hungover either… Well not my head anyway haha, I have woke up with my right arm aching really badly, feels like someone’s been stretching it, it’s not fun.

On the plus side, I don’t have to go to work tonight because Elton John has the flu – weird eh? Oh, and we finally got a treadmill that works! 2 months, 4 deliveries, and 2 and a half treadmills later! Shame I can’t be bothered to go on it. I’ll start on monday.

Yeah that face pretty much covers it.

Le sigh.  You would think that an episode that had quite a bit of Sylar would be pleasing, at least to me.  You would think that, but you would be wrong.  This would be because Sylar’s having his 2343th who am I? crisis and the circus freaks are not pushing him dark side fast enough for my liking.  Oh they tried but Nathan’s goody good nature crept up at the most inopportune of times and ruined the Ghostbusting fun.  I’ll get to that though, because even though I bitch about it, it was by far the best part of the episode.

Why is that?  Well because the rest of the episode was, as Tripp dubbed it, An After School Special.  Make that a Very Special After School Special.  And you can’t have “special” without Hiro being prominently involved, now can you?  He defines “special” after all.  But Hiro was not the only member involved in After School Specials, oh no, they had to draw HRG and Pretty Peter into their own version as well, which spun out of Hiro’s.  Hate.  Which to talk about first?

Peter is trying my patience and my love by helping Hiro.

Hiro is in the hospital now, where he refuses to stay in his bed and instead keeps wandering around and talking to poor Emma.  He figured out she was deaf after she told him about 3 times, so I guess that puts him one up on Pretty but Dim Peter.  Peter unleashed Hiro on the poor deaf girl, telling her to ask him about having powers as Hiro was the ultimate person to teach her about how “good” powers could be.  So, she made the mistake of asking.  First he raved for awhile and she couldn’t understand him, then he talked like she was retarded and could understand nothing.  Why she didn’t just laser kill him then and there is beyond me.

But if she had, then we would have missed out on his damn magic performance.  Yeah, they were having some show for the sick kids and Hiro pretended to be a magician, stopping time so he could disappear.  Sadly, he did not permanently disappear.  The best part about this scene was this nurse who was quite irritated and was making faces because he was out of bed.  But then she succumbed to his charm (as if he has any) and she was no longer remotely cool.

Hiro and Emma got to talking about how he wants to use his power to help people, even though that’s killing him.  He doesn’t care, it is worth it if he dies helping others.  Yep, whatever.  Just hurry up and die, it would help me and my enjoyment of the show immensely.  At the end of the episode, instead of waiting for Peter, he took off to go back in time and save his one true love, Charlie.  Yay for her return, boo for more Hiro next week.

Why was Claire even there? Are her lips lonely?

While Hiro was irritating a deaf woman, Peter went to HRG to ask him to help him find a healer so he could save the moron.  Yeah, Peter is on my shit list, despite the Pretty.  HRG conveniently remembers a kid in Georgia that he went to see a couple of years ago that could heal.  Peter had grabbed Hiro’s power to teleport so he and HRG take off to find the kid.  On a side note, Claire was in this episode for some inexplicable reason, hanging with her dad as if last time we saw her she was not having a girl on girl moment with her roommate.  No reaction to the kiss, nothing.  Good job Heroes.

Annoying, fugly healer, may we never see him again.

When our boys get to Georgia, they find all the plants outside the house dead, dead birds and dead parents in the living room.  Fun.  Anyway, Healer boy, whose name I think is Jeremy but who really cares?, was upstairs shooting at them and telling them to leave.  Seems that he’s lost control of his power and now kills instead of heals.  HRG tells him he knows how to help him and Peter zaps up and surprises the kid, who fires his gun.  Peter stops time but too late as he’s been shot in the chest.  Yeah, I finally got to see a sliver of Peter skin but it was all bloody.  Fuck you too, Heroes.

HRG convinces Healer boy to try touching Peter, seeing as he’s already on the path to killing him and all.  With his coaching, Healer heals and out pops the bullet.  Peter helps himself to the power and heads back to Hiro, the short way seeing as he can no longer teleport since they made the stupid decision to change his powers, again.  HRG stays behind to counsel the kid, finally having found his purpose again.  I think he needs to find his way to the carnival because emo-Healer boy has terrible hair and an annoying voice.  No more of him.  Peter gets back to the hospital but of course doofus is already gone, zapped to find Charlie and hopefully inches closer to death.  Tripp and I are hoping that Peter touches Emma or another powered person soon and loses healing before Hiro comes back.

What is more disturbing? The memories, the eyebrows or the hair?

And now, the circus.  Sylar doesn’t know who the hell he is but lo and behold, there’s a dude at the freakshow that can help him recover his true memories.  They take him to the fun house, because we should all have our freaky murderous memories appear in multiple mirrors, and that’s what happens.  He sees killing his mom, various powered people, Elle (SOB!), cake woman…all awesome Sylar moments that freak him the hell out.  He runs to Samuel and cries about being a killer.  Sam’s all like, dude, you’re awesome, suck it up.

Elle power!!! I'm glad they at least showed a flash of her in his memories.

Later, Zorro, whose real name is Edgar and that is terrible so I shall not call him that, starts fighting with Sylar, throwing his knives near him.  Sylar flicks his wrist and tosses the knives right back.  Way awesome.  Then he throws Zorro into some concrete.  Zorro is pissed but Samuel is happy.  He invites Ghostbuster cop to the circus and tells Sylar to go take care of him.  He goes to the funhouse and tries, even whipping out the Elle power, but he can’t kill when it comes down to it.  I blame Nathan.  Zorro pops in and carves up Ghostbuster and bitches to Samuel about how useless Sylar is.  Samuel tells him right now maybe it’s good that he’s not ready to kill and then he has Lydia (AKA Tattoo Woman) lead him off to a trailer for some sex, which of course we don’t get to see.  Zorro is pretty pissed about this, so I assume he’s hot for Lydia.  I imagine Sylar will have to kill Zorro eventually, which will be good.

So that was the episode.  Sylar’s officially been baptized as a circus freak (literally, they lowered him in water and baptized him) and he’s fighting his nature still.  It looks like, from scenes, that he might actually be in Matt, which I did not think was happening but it could be.  I do know they’re going to have Sylar in bed with Janice which is not acceptable.  Not at all.  I do not look forward to that but I will pretend it’s Matt and still just his mind.  It’s the only way to get through.

So there you have it, another lackluster episode that was way OTT with the “helping others” shit and not remotely balanced with “killing others” on the Sylar end.  Fix it.  Soon.

While I applaud the writers for a surprise twist that I didn’t see coming, (literally, who would have thought there would be another invisible person?) what is up with Gretchen? There is defintely more to this creepy lesbian roommate than meets the eye…

But so far this season, I have found that my new favorite character is not Emma. Her story and her ability is pretty boring. I am a fan of the writers finally putting “The Greatest American Hero” theme into the show! It was most excellent! Believe it or not…

No, the award of most interesting new character has to be Samuel. I think the whole carnival story arc is fascinating! Especially when we found out that the person who pushed the girl out of the window was a carnie. Also, I am loving the mystery involved with his crack team of people with their unique abilities. So what is with the ink? Where did the carnival go? Is that why we need the compass tattoo? I need answers!

Sylar’s tabula rasa is quite intriguing. So he is now a scared man who has no idea who he is, where he came from, and why he can do all of these weird things. Could it be that Lydia wasn’t able to make out the face of the newest family member because he doesn’t have an identity? Because it was masked as Nathan Petrelli the dead man?

And is Nathan gone forever? I am way more a fan of Nathan than Peter. Nathan is definitely a far superior Petrelli, and what are we Adrian Pasdar fans to do without him each week?

This week was shy a Traci, Parkman, and most importantly, and Hiro story. Quite a disappointment NBC, just to let you know. By the way, where is Mohinder???

Traci

She got out of the tub and got dressed up. Then she went to a restaurant where the governor was having lunch. He was all excited that she was there. She told him, “I’m back.” The governor offers Tracey her old job back, and wants her to have dinner with him. She takes the job, but has a strange look on her face. She meets HRG at the Japanese restaurant he goes to, and she’s confused. She wants something more from her life, but she’s not sure what. She’s happy she’s got her job back, but there’s something missing. HRG tells her that sometimes you have to go back to find out where you need to go forward to. She meets the governor for dinner, and he makes a disgusting pass at her. She goes to the bathroom and starts to cry. While there, her hands begin to liquefy until she can get herself back under control. She then goes back out to the governor and basically tells him to bug off.

Hiro

Kimiko told him that she and Ando have decided to get married, and she would like him to give her away at the wedding. He told her that he’d be proud to. Ando, however, was worried, because Hiro may not be around then, since he’s dying. Hiro, though, is still concentrating on fixing the sins of his past. Then the hero hot line rings, and there’s a jumper on their roof. The jumper (Tadashi) copied his butt at the year-end party and has since been fired. Now, he’s called Hiro so that people will know why he’s jumped. Hiro can’t stop him from jumping, so he goes back in time to stop the xeroxing. He shows back up just as Kimiko is telling Ando the good news. So Ando is once again telling Hiro that this is bad, when Tadashi calls Hiro again. Now, instead of the year-end party, it was the Emperor’s Birthday celebration. Hiro time travels again. Hiro ends up helping Tadashi 47 times, before he gives up and just talks to the guy on the rooftop. He ends up keeping him from jumping, and then he comes back in and tells Ando that it is time to tell Kimiko the truth. He starts to do that, when he gets a major pain in his head and freezes. Ando and Kimiko start to call an ambulance, when Hiro disappears.

HRG

He’s at a table in his new apartment reading his divorce papers, when Peter shows up. Peter wants to talk to him about the compass tattoo, but it’s disappeared. HRG really doesn’t want to have anything to do with it all, so Peter gets ready to leave. Claire then shows up. She tries to talk to him about what he’s going to do with his life now. He’s not sure. She opens up the newspaper and sees that a lumber company is looking for a salesman. He tells her that working for Primatech was a cover. She tries to help him with interview questions, but he proves that the lumber job is just not for him. Eventually, we see the people from the carnival. The main guy puts a tattoo on the girl, and it shows up as HRG. He’s shocked and asks why is she showing him this. Bennett has retired and wants nothing to do with us. She says that maybe he’s changed his mind. We then see HRG in his apartment with newspaper clippings about the carnival and the compass.

Nathan

Mama Petrelli comes to DC with a box of Nathan’s things to help him remember his past. (Mostly so that Sylar thinks that he really is Nathan.) He starts going through things and he can now see the memories as visions. When he picks up a baseball hat, he sees an old girlfriend in a swimming pool with blood around her. He goes to Peter and asks her about the girl. Peter mentions that the girl disappeared, but Nathan’s not so sure anymore. He then goes to the girl’s mom (Swoozie Kurtz), who tells him that she hired a PI who found out that the girl used a credit to buy a flight to London and picked up her checked bags. Nathan then walks around the estate to the pool, and sees more memories of the girl – including seeing her bump her head on the edge and die. Nathan confronts Mama, and she admits that she covered up the whole thing when it happened, because it would have ruined Nathan’s life. Nathan feels that he needs to tell the girl’s mom the truth – she doesn’t want to hear it. Nathan later pulls into a parking garage. He starts to call the homicide department, but then cancels the call. As he gets out of his car, he’s attacked from behind and stabbed with a needle. Swoozie (playing Millie) is having dinner with Mama talking about how odd Nathan was acting. Meanwhile, the guy who attacked Nathan is pulling car into the woods and digging a hole. He dumps Nathan in and shoots him 3 times in the chest. Then he fills the hole. Millie gets a call saying the package is delivered – she then tells Mama, that everything is all about closure. But at the very end, we saw a hand coming out of the dirt, a la Jason and Freddie…

In meiner Recherche zur Heroes Serie stach mir sofort eine Meldung in Auge: “Heroes war dieses Jahr der am meisten illegal beschaffte TV Download im Internet” – noch vor Lost. Einen heftigeren gleichzeitig besseren und schlechteren Superlativ kann man für eine Serie eigentlich in diesen Zeiten nicht finden. Die von Universal produzierte und von NBC in den USA bzw. RTL2 in Deutschland ausgestrahlte Staffel ist ein weltweites Phänomen. Einerseits kosten die illegalen Downloads Milliarden, andererseits sind sie verantwortlich für die unbezahlbare Mund zu Mund Propaganda, mit der erst ein weltweites Phänomen möglich wird.

Leute, wie ich, hören dann aus 10 Quellen, dass die Serie toll ist. Vielleicht waren nur 3 oder 4 davon Käufer der DVD’s oder echte Fernsehzuschauer, vielleicht sogar noch weniger. Fakt ist, ich habe trotzdem sehr lange und preisbewusst gewartet, bis ich mir die geteilten Boxen der Staffeln 1.1 und 1.2 mit insgesamt fantastischen 23 Folgen gekauft habe. Aber ich habe sie wahrscheinlich nur wegen eben dieser Empfehlungen gekauft, die mir ein ums andere Mal im Netz und im persönlichen Umfeld begegneten.

Vorweg schließe ich mich der großen Mehrheit der Kritiker an und empfehle die Serie jedem Leser mit der Einschränkung, sich die Serie besser nicht im Fernsehen anzuschauen. Werbeblöcke, eine Woche Wartezeit und ggf. das Verpassen von einzelnen Folgen, sorgen dafür, dass man der Story – besser den verschiedenen Stories – aufgrund diverser Einzelgeschichten, sowie räumlichen und zeitlichen Sprüngen nicht mehr richtig folgen kann.

Vorsicht ist ansonsten beim DVD Konsum geboten, weil man schnell Blöcke von 3-4 Folgen hintereinander weg schaut und sich trotz Arbeit am nächsten Morgen um 2 Uhr nachts ernsthaft überlegt, noch eine Episode dranzuhängen.

Um nicht zuviel zu verraten, reiße ich die Story nur kurz an. Die Evolution der Menschheit bringt schon heute Individuen mit außergewöhnlichen Fähigkeiten hervor – Usain Bolt kann nunmal, ob gedopt oder nicht, schneller laufen als seine Doping Kollegen. In der Serie Heroes sind diese Fähigkeiten etwas phantasievoller ausgeprägt. Manche Menschen können fliegen, durch Wände gehen, heilen durch Handauflegen – sie übersteigen in der Summe das Repertoire von David Copperfield (oder Tiger Woods) knapp.

Manche dieser Fähigkeiten sind aggressiv, manche Inhaber dieser Fähigkeiten agieren aggressiv. Manche Menschen mit aggressiven Fähigkeiten sind hilflos und wollen sie gar nicht, sie verstecken sie so gut es geht. Andere Menschen fühlen sich durch ihre Fähigkeiten zu etwas Höherem berufen. Die Charaktere, die uns gezeigt werden versuchen auf menschliche Weise, damit fertig zu werden. Eine klare schwarz-weiße Grenze existiert nicht. Wenn man beispielsweise Highlander geschaut hat, weiß man um den Unterschied.

Wie in der Realität gibt es radikale Charaktere, die das Geschehen in der Serie polarisieren. Es entsteht eine Haupthandlung, in der ein sehr negatives Ereignis durch eine Reihe von Idealisten verhindert werden soll. Allerdings ist bis zum Ende der Staffel nicht klar, ob dieses Ereignis von einem guten, einem neutralen oder einem bösen Charakter ausgelöst wird.

Das klingt geheimnisvoll, zeigt aber, wie vielschichtig jede einzelne Episode durchdacht ist. Selten handeln die Hauptpersonen unverständlich oder konstruiert. Die Serie gefällt mir einfach sehr gut und bleibt jederzeit spannend. Es gab eine Serie, die praktisch das gleiche oder sogar bessere Rüstzeug hatte, wie Heroes. Die Serie hieß “Das verschwundene Zimmer” (Trailer). Die Fähigkeiten waren hier an Gegenstände gebunden, die weitergereicht werden konnten, das Grundprinzip war aber gleich. Schade, dass diese Serie nicht ebenso zum Welterfolg wurde. Vielleicht hätte man in diesem Fall mehr illegale Versionen über eine Agentur in Tauschbörsen hochladen sollen.

There is something terribly wrong with the third season of Heroes. Either that or I am losing my mind. Okay, maybe that part was not very convincing, but really, I get lost at almost every episode. I presume this season is as gripping and as adrenaline inducing (pun intended) as the first two seasons since it already made me forget that I go to work at 9Am and I had to wake up at 7Am, but I forget the episodes easily. And this is weird because I have unusually sharp memory. That was because of the eclipse we had last I-don’t-remember-when and I felt like I was not human anymore, not that I ever thought that I was. I really am a monster, and I eat brains for breakfast. And now I assume you are lost of my random babble. Okay, my real problem is, I don’t remember who Linderman is. Or what power Angela Petrelli has, and how Alejandro (or was his name Alejandro? The brother of Maya) died. I wanted to stop watching but I didn’t want to so I came up with five reasons why I should keep on watching Heroes. Okay, I was lying. I never planned to stop watching Heroes, I just wanted to come up with a list because I love lists. I am that kind of geek. So, ladies and gentlemen, here is a list of the people, or characters, that keep me glued to my TV and will probably keep me glued for the next few years even if I probably would never understand the story anymore because I would soon forget about them. Oh, and spoiler alert-ish. I think most of you who watch Heroes already finished the third season but whatever.

Peter Petrelli

5. Peter Petrelli. Okay, he might be your usual eyecandy and he had a few shirtless episodes that keep women and some gay men watching, but his power is very interesting. He is freaking powerful and he probably is the most powerful of them all since unlike Sylar, he need not kill someone to take their abilities. Very cool. The season also showed his villain-y side or something and there were episodes when the viewers, I presume, were supposed to think that he was the real bad guy. Which suits him, in a way.

Hiro Nakamura

4. Hiro Nakamura. You have a heart of steel, or a sense of humor of a troll if you didn’t laugh when Tracy called her Pikachu. It was hilarious. I like Hiro mainly because he’s a geek. And I have always been a sucker for geeks, so yeah. I guess he was just overstereotyped, if that word really exists. His New York city scene where he shouted ‘I did it’ didn’t hurt either. He is one of the easy-to-fall-in-love-with characters in Heroes, the loser kid who is depreciated by his father which makes him seek his approval but he is so geeky that he just plays his PSP most of the time or read mangas that make his look childish. I am in a lot of ways like him. Except for the father part. Oh, and he is also the master of Space and Time.

Elle

3. Elle. Yes. That blonde girl raised to be an agent who has some 5000 volts inside her body. She is very mysterious and very likeable, despite the fact that she is a villain. She also seems to have a very special connection with Sylar, which was only shown in this season, or not, I don’t remember really. I wonder why I never saw her in any other TV shows or movies. Kirsten Bell. She is very pretty and she seems like she could be on par with Hilary Duff or Mandy Moore, except she looks sneakier, bitchier, and evil-er. Her pair up with Sylar is beyond me, they’re too sexy together you can’t help but wish they’d break up. Or that one of them dies *cough Elle cough*

Sylar

2. Sylar. or Zachary Quinto, that very hot yet very cuddly (really, now) villain of Heroes who likes eating brains and is ironically named Gabriel after an angel. Although I am not really sure if that angel was a good angel because I never really payed attention to my Christian Living classes when I was still in highschool. I used to think that he was creepy. Anthony Hopkins kind of creepy, just his voice makes all the hair in my body alert for danger. But well, he is one of the (if not the) most beautiful actors in the series. Him being there is reason enough to watch the ever so forgetful TV series called Heroes. Oh, and he paired up with Elle, for a while at least. That could not get any better.

Claire Bennett

1. Claire Bennett. Played by one of the most promising stars of today, Hayden Panettiere. Okay, so I really have no basis for saying that, it’s just that I have a huge crush on her and I have had that crush ever since her Bring it on: All or Nothing times. I am a sucker with cheerleaders as much as I am for geeks. Which, now that I think about it, is a little weird. I am both attracted to popular and not so popular kids who struggle through highschool mostly. Anyways, the stunning Claire Bennett is invincible and has been one of the most important characters in the series since the first season. Save the cheerleader, save the world. Even Sylar said that she was different. And special. I could so marry Sylar– except he might eat my brain and steal my X-Ray vision ability. Okay, that’s a little creepy. Scratch that. Like Elle and Sylar, she has Daddy issues too. Poor Claire Bennet is always being left behind by his adoptive parent, Noah. Oh Claire. I could babysit you for a day or two. While we’re at it, teach me how to do numerous cartwheels that make other people’s jaws drop.

You probably finished watching the third season of Heroes alreeady. Or have stopped watching Heroes like most people for reasons that are so obvious. I just made this list because  Ilove making lists. I always have, even when I was still a child. I used to tally how many times some product advertisements appear on TV then tell my Yaya back then what the top commercials were, based on the number of times they were shown on TV. I am such a weird bastard.

It is much easier to weave the tale of this week’s episode of Heroes by separating the main storylines.  However, I am sorry to report that no Hiro on Heroes this week was an utter disappointment by all of us fans.  Boo!

Claire

Gretchen keeps trying to talk to Claire about what she saw when Claire was testing the theory about the roommate jumping out the window. Claire of course doesn’t want to talk about it. When HRG shows up at the school to take Claire to lunch, Gretchen gets herself invited to go with them. Gretchen lets it slip to HRG that she knows about Claire’s ability. HRG is about to call the Haitian to wipe out Gretchen’s memory of Claire’s ability, but Claire threatens him if he does. He backs down. She tells him she’ll handle it on her own.

Claire tells Gretchen that it’s been a long time since she’s been able to trust anyone, but she’d like to be able to. She and Gretchen end up talking in Claire’s room, and she explains all about her ability. Gretchen even gets a chance to test it. Then Claire invites her to become her new roommate.

Peter

He’s collecting the newspaper stories of the people that he saves with his abilities. As he’s posting them on the wall, he gets served by a process server. He goes to find the paperwork on the case of the person who’s suing him, and he meets a deaf woman (who we earlier saw waking up in the morning). He then finds the guy in one of the rehab rooms, and it’s the creepy Sullivan guy from the carnival. He’s telling Peter that he has to sue him, because he’s being told that it’s going to be months before he can work again. Peter is convinced that they’ve never met and that he wasn’t in the accident. Sullivan points out that Peter is working 2 and 3 shifts at a time, and how would he be able to remember who was in which accident. Peter talks to his partner, who tells him that their co-workers think that he’s been glory-hounding and causing the accidents himself.

He goes back to his apartment. The carnival guy is there and he has just put his own picture into the newspaper shot of the bus accident that he’s suing Peter over. He sneaks out without Peter seeing him. Peter later catches up with him in the park. Peter apologizes to him for not realizing that he was in the accident. Peter then explains to him about why he works as an EMT rather than hospice; “I wanted to save lives instead of watching them die slowly and painfully.” The carnie says that Peter is the man he thought he was, shakes his hand, and then says that he’s dropping the lawsuit. Peter recommends that the carnie go back to his family’s home, since it’s so close by. The carnie does that.

Turns out that it’s a mansion, and his parents were the butler and the housekeeper or cook. But, the owners were having a dinner party, so they turn him away at the door. He’s ticked, and causes a sinkhole. Peter goes to the call – and finds the spinning compass on his arm.

Emma

The deaf woman is named Emma. She is apparently now seeing lights when she should be hearing sound. Her doctor (Louise Fletcher) tells her it’s normal, but that she’s too shut off and she needs to be out doing more. Emma says she likes working files because they don’t give her “that look”. She also wears headphones, so that people don’t think she’s deaf – but she doesn’t plug them into anything.

Later at the park, Emma watches a cellist play, and when he takes a break she sneaks over to his cello. She’s been amazed by the colors she sees with his music, so she tries it herself. Suddenly, she makes beautiful colors come out of the instrument – and is surrounded by people listening to the music. When she realizes it, she runs off. Peter has been watching and follows her.

Parkman

He goes on a drug bust with his partner (Rick Worthy), and once he’s alone Sylar shows up again. This time Sylar ends up saving his life when the guy in the house starts shooting from inside a closet. When Matt goes to search for drugs in a bathroom, Sylar tells him that he’s looking at the wrong thing. Matt then finds a pink stuffed animal behind a toilet. The partner then goes to look in the garage for clues, and Matt/Sylar find the ransom note that the kidnapper(s) of a girl are working on. Matt reads the dealer’s mind and finds the girl’s body under the staircase. He beats up the dealer just as his partner comes back in. The partner and he go back to the staircase, and there’s no body – there’s no note and no animal either. Sylar admits that he used Matt’s power against him. The partner tells Matt that he can’t think of anyway that they can clean this mess up and Matt realizes that this has pretty much destroyed his career. He hands his 30 days sobriety coin to the partner. But then, Matt puts the thought into the partner’s mind that the dealer attacked him and that Matt jumped in to save the partner. The partner then goes to call it in. Sylar is so proud…

So I personally found most of the episode a little lame, I am a little tired of and definitely annoyed by Peter now.  I honestly a little tired of his God complex.  I am incredibly interested in learning more about this group of Carnival people!  What exactly is their side?  Good?  Bad?  Indifferent?  And I am finding Emma fascinating, it seems that everyone is entranced by her  musical abilities, but can they see the lights too?  And does Gretchen have an ability or not??

I know I said it last year, but I’m serious this time. You and me, we’re done if you let me down this season. I keep holding on to hope, but if I have to sit through another implausible storyline where all the characters I love act like crazy people I don’t even recognize, I will go mad myself. So you’ve had your 100 millionth chance, and I’m not going to just sit around forever.

Phew! Now, I don’t mean to be mean but that just had to be said. However with the season premiere behind us now, I can vouch that things are definitely on the ups in Heroes-verse. As Peter said, “There’s a lot of change going on with me.” Volume Five is title “Redemption,” and could they have picked something more fitting? The tone of this season is very similar to the first season that made it a breakout hit. It’s dark and mysterious, as if each week we’ll be ripping off layer after layer until we’re finally illuminated.

The focus has returned to the show’s characters and how they balance being normal and extraordinary at the same time. It’s about their thoughts and emotions, and not so much about throwing as many battles as humanly possible into an hour or two in this instance. It’s a thin line to tread, being too character driven or acting like you’re making a live action comic book. The truth is we want both, but not if one is a detriment to the other.

NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK
“Redemption” will focus on a band of circus folks who actually have REAL powers. Robert Knepper (aka T-Bag from Prison Break) joins the cast as the carnies’ leader Sam, a man with a power I still don’t get but has to do with a compass. Not much has been revealed yet about their motives, but it’s clear they’re about sticking with their own. The things we have learned are that Sam wants to travel back, possibly to change his brother’s death, who’s buried during the show’s opening. I’m sure you can guess who he turns to, but how finding our other Heroes will help his plan is still to be determined.

Sam has the ability to control earth, but he can also create powerful tattoos. He uses another carnival worker Lydia’s ability to discern information from these tattoos when they’re put on her body, and he also uses a tattoo to choke Edgar when he gets a little mouthy for his liking. Edgar is another carnie with lightning fast speed and some sweet knife-wielding abilities. When Sam sent him out to find a compass, that’s important for some reason I’m sure they’ll clue us into later, he’s a little doubtful about following Sam’s lead. Maybe another hero with a conscience?

IT’S 9 O’CLOCK. DO YOU KNOW WHERE OUR HEROES ARE?
Peter is still Mr. I Need to Save the World, but he’s doing it on a much smaller scale nowadays. He’s working as a paramedic using his powers to help people who would most likely be goners if the man attempting to save them didn’t have super strength and super powers. Sadly, he’s regressed socially, ignoring calls from both his mother and Nathan.

Claire starts college but quickly becomes the odd frosh out when her roommate seemingly leaps to her death from their dorm room window. She also meets a new friend who finds out Claire’s abilities when she sees her bloodied and broken after jumping from the aforementioned window in a forensic experiment. Her friend Gretchen is played by Madeline Zima (Californication), and she was such a naughty girl on that show, I can’t really trust her just yet.

Tracy has been murdering people left and right, seeking revenge on those who tried to hunt her down and kill her last season. Danko’s still holding a grudge, but can you really blame her. It’s a kill or be killed world. A perfect example of how the show’s direction is changing, and hopefully will continue to do so, is the fact that the focus isn’t about the chase in this case. It’s about how Tracy reconciles what she’s done with what she knows is right. And the fact that Noah offers her a helping hand (even after she tried to kill him), and erased Danko’s mind to forget her and give up his hunt, gives her a second chance. Unfortunately, it’s the last chance for Danko since Edgar takes him out.

Noah, on the other hand, is getting the second chance that I think he deserves. As the poster boy for everything the Company did wrong, he’s gotten the short end of the stick. His wife still isn’t speaking to him, so he’s living a sad and lonely life. He gets a smack in the face when he calls her and a man picks up. Ouchie! All Angela wants to do is pull him back in though all he wants is his family back. And when he does get involved by finding the compass, Peter acts as his bodyguard but only for a short time, rescuing him from Edgar but leaving him with the compass. Since Edgar won’t give up, in the end Noah ends up without the goods and in the hospital. Poor HRG.

But there are two in an even worse state. Nathan, who we know is really Sylar without Sylar’s consciousness and with all of Nathan’s memories, has begun to realize that something is off. Powers he never had are starting to emerge. And when he turns to Peter, who went through a similar abilities transition, he gets no love back. Good thing he doesn’t notice how warily Angela regards him since she sees Nathan acting as Nathan but looking like Sylar in her visions.

It’s actually so burdensome that she turns to Matt, the one who locked Sylar away, to help straighten Nathan out once more. But like so many other Heroes, Matt just wants to spend time with the family he neglected and almost lost. What he did last season, though, haunts him quite figuratively. Sylar taunts at him saying what he did left a piece of him in Matt, and he wants his body back.

And across the world, Hiro is still not doing so hot since he still has the nosebleeds.  Taking it easy, he’s not doing the grand version of saving the world anymore without his time traveling powers, so he starts a cute little business with Ando called Dial-A-Hero. During  his first and only assignment so far, he freezes time but then ends up freezing himself. While he and Ando try to figure out what’s going on, he ends up going back in time and meeting Sam. He pushes Hiro to use his powers to help other people by rewriting the past. But having always thought you shouldn’t change time because of the butterfly effect, he’s hard to convince. But when he does something so small as to prevent Ando from spilling a slushy on his sister Kimiko’s favorite dress when they were kids and when he returns to the present, Ando and Kimiko are in love. Is he a fairy godfather or playing with fire?

WRAP IT UP
Just know that things are looking more and more like the Heroes so many of us loved before they went off the deep end and stated writing like they were writing fan fiction. This season is off to a promising start, but it’s happened before, and I will not get my hopes up this early on. So far so good though. Heroes, you can still take me out on that date next Monday if I didn’t hurt you too bad earlier. I can’t promise you any more than that.

Wow, sadly Heroes has actually not really improved. Well, its horribleness has never resulted in me hating the series luckily, it just makes it even more entertaining. Re-telling the 2 hour premier would probably be murder, not because so much really happened, but there is simply so many characters. This season, we are even introduced to more characters! We now have the circus freaks, one guy can somewhat control people using ink, some other person can say everything about a person when ink guy creates an image on her back (how do you even figure out you have that power anyway?).

There also is some sort of storyline involving a “broken compass” that only works in the hands of someone with powers and Milo (I mean Peter) has gone back to his medical job and is saving people when all hope is gone. Ali Larter somehow continues to live. The writers on the show should really stop pretending to kill her off, it brings us so much happiness and then disappointment. At least it seems like everybody wants her killed off at least. Anyway, Matt has always been one of the worst characters, simply because he is so boring and is always doing the same thing, but at least now the scenes that include him tent to include Sylar.

Sylar continues to be that one shining light in a pile of tar. He just looked so cool in this episode completely messing up Matt’s life by demanding to know where his body is. I really hope in the next episode he gets a lot more screentime. It was also actually kind of funny when he picked up the baby and it just looked so frightened! It was without a doubt the most upset baby I have ever seen. I wonder what the director did to make that baby look like it did…

Claire is being stupid as she always is. By that I mean, jumping out of windows and someone figuring out her power, you know, the usual. I am surprised they didn’t play the lesbian card yet in this episode because we all know it is coming and I am sure they would get more viewers when they show off their romance. On another note, the episode itself was not that great, The fact that it was 2 hours really didn’t work. They probably could have easily sunk it all into one episode or spanned it over more than a week, but 2 hours in a row just got me bored and tired. Well in the end, let’s just say here’s to hoping we see more Sylar in following episodes!

Ando and Hiro chase their superhero dream careers on "Heroes"

Just getting my feet wet with the new fall TV season. While the jury’s still out on new shows, I’ve been a fan of “Heroes” almost from the beginning. In the 2-hour season premiere, Hiro, Ando and Peter Petrelli are chasing their dreams of becoming true-blue superheroes. When it comes to our careers, how can we be successful without dreams and the will to pursue them?

In the Season 4 premiere, Hiro (played by Masi Oka) and Ando (played by James Kyson Lee) are intent on making superheroism a profession by starting their own heroes for hire business called “Dial a Her0″. Meanwhile, on the other side of the planet, Peter (played by Milo Ventimiglia) is taking the superhero/alter ego route by playing a mild mannered NYC EMS Tech, while secretly using his super powers to save people’s lives. All are trying to live their lives on their own terms after an unending string of events that have forced them to use, lose and regain their powers to save humanity in one way, or another.

Don’t Just Dream It, Do It

For me, life can sometimes feel like it’s forcing me to live on its terms, pulled one way or another by obligation and circumstance. The only way to live your life or develop your career the way you want is to HAVE dreams and to PURSUE them.  Curt Rosengren suggests filling in the blanks of your dream to make it reality in “How to Move Forward With Action or Dream“.

Make Sure It Comes From the Right Place

However your dream is borne, make sure it comes from the right place- heart and soul. You’ll need both to make your dream come true. If it comes from anywhere else, you won’t have the courage or the passion to take one step.
