For all those women who are planning on going Greek this autumn, here are some things to keep in min

For all those women who are planning on going Greek this autumn, here are some things to keep in mind as you’re registering for Sorority Recruitment:

1. Depending on where you’re going to college, make sure you meet the following academic requirements: an academic index of around 2.5/you’re in the top 60%/70% of your high school’s graduating class!! (Also, be sure to turn in your grade transcripts if your college/university asks for them.)

2. Get registered online!! Also, make sure to give your college’s/university’s registration & records office the go-ahead to check out your high school scholastic information, hours completed & semester/cumulative GPA (among other pertinent things).

3. Be sure to register for Sorority Recruitment ahead of time; the sooner you can sign up, the better. (In addition, watch for registration deadlines!!)

4. For those undergraduates & transfer students who are thinking about going Greek, you’ll need to fulfill a certain amount of course hours/a certain GPA requirement in order to be eligible for Sorority Recruitment.

5. See to it that your recommendation letters are turned in ahead of time (along with a true-to-life photo of yourself)!! That way, the actives won’t only know your name – they’ll also know who you look like as well (& they’ll be able to identify you more easily).

6. Once you’ve registered for Sorority Recruitment, you’ll get the following information: the recruitment process, what to expect during Recruitment Week & last but not least, relevant information about each Sorority/women’s Fraternity at whatever college/university you’ll be attending. So while you’re ahead, see to it that you carefully read through the material which your college/university sends you!!

Are you ready to go? So far, so good. If not, don’t be hesitant to sign up for Sorority Recruitment if you have the time!!

On my first day back home, after being away at school at Orientation Sessions for six weeks, my sister Kimberly took me out to visit her work! She was recently hired at Water Fresh Farms (WFF) in Hopkinton, MA. WFF is a small marketplace that sells lots of fresh produce, dairy, cheeses, hand crafted items, baked goods, and sandwiches. There is also a cute little silo on the side of the building that houses WFF’s ice cream shop!

The coolest part about this place is that the produce that is sold there was all grown on the premises; there is a hydroponic greenhouse located in the back. This greenhouse gives the workers at Water Fresh Farm the ability to grown and provide fresh, pesticide-free fruits and vegetables!

Kimberly and I had a nice time exploring the store and the greenhouse…we also picked up some sandwiches to go!

Here is the link to Water Fresh Farm’s website if you’re interested in learning more! http://www.waterfreshfarm.com/index.html

(The following post is a beautiful & heartfelt tribute to Phi Sigma Sigma undergraduates & alumnae.)

Here are ten reasons why I love Phi Sigma Sigma as much as I do & ten reasons why I’m a proud supporter of Panhellenic life in general:

1. Women in Phi Sigma Sigma make a heartfelt impact as leaders & difference-makers for their chapters, colleges/universities, communities & the world!!

2. Women in Phi Sigma Sigma inspire, empower & encourage one another to be the best that they can possibly be.

3. Women in Phi Sigma Sigma continue to set their standards & expectations high when it comes to academics, philanthropy, service, membership development & leadership opportunities.

4. Phi Sigma Sigma’s undergraduate & alumnae members are miles from “average”/”ordinary.”

5. Phi Sigma Sigma continues to inspire the personal development of its members & perpetuate the advancement of womanhood.

6. Women in Phi Sigma Sigma make a positive difference for their colleges/universities & communities through their efforts in the classroom, their efforts in volunteering, their efforts in philanthropy, their efforts in community service, their involvement in other campus organizations & their efforts in recruitment.

7. Women in Phi Sigma Sigma positively impact the lives of others through philanthropy & service. Whether it’s participating in community service projects, taking part in other Greek-sponsored philanthropies or hosting fundraisers/philanthropic events which support the Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation, Phi Sigma Sigma’s undergraduate & alumnae members are dedicated to bringing change for the better on campus & in the local community.

8. Women in Phi Sigma Sigma are classy, amazing, empowered, strong-willed, fun, intelligent, caring, compassionate & generous…To make a long story short, they’re all of the above!!

9. Phi Sigma Sigma brightens my day!! Whether it’s writing amazing posts about Phi Sigma Sigma or supporting such an amazing women’s Fraternity, there’s no denying that Phi Sigma Sigma holds a special place in my heart!!

10. Last but not least, women in Phi Sigma Sigma aspire to achieve great things in their lives, careers, at home, their colleges/universities & communities!!

No matter which letters they wear on/around campus, one thing is undeniably clear: nothing compares to a sorority woman.

Nothing compares to a sorority woman who is sincerely & wholeheartedly committed/dedicated to living the values of the Sorority/Fraternity which she represents.

Nothing compares to a sorority woman who is a mentor & inspiration to her chapter’s new members, alumnae, women who are planning on going Greek & other sorority women in her Panhellenic community.

Nothing compares to a sorority woman who promotes the importance of sisterhood to others around her.

Nothing compares to a sorority woman who lives her sisterhood day in & day out, showing others around her (both Greek & non-Greek) how much she loves her Sorority/Fraternity & why she loves her Sorority/Fraternity as much as she does.

Nothing compares to a sorority woman who constantly does her part to shatter/erase the stereotypes which non-Greeks harbor towards Greek life in general.

Nothing compares to a sorority woman who wears her organization’s letters with pride & with care; she is her chapter’s own best advertising & does her part to cast her Sorority/Fraternity in a positive light on a daily basis.

Nothing compares to a sorority woman who both points out & proves the good that her Sorority/Fraternity does on campus & in the local community.

Nothing compares to a sorority woman who inspires & encourages other women to go Greek or at least see if Greek life is truly for them.

Nothing compares to a sorority woman who strives to uphold integrity (along with high standards & expectations) in all that she does for her chapter, college/university, community & beyond.

Nothing compares to a sorority woman who strives to leave a first lasting impression on her campus & community through her efforts in academics, philanthropy, service, leadership opportunities, recruitment & membership development.

Last but not least, nothing compares to a sorority woman who shows that sisterhood & friendship aren’t just for college days alone. For her & other sorority women, both of the above are for life!!

You’ve heard all the misconceptions/stereotypes which non-Greeks have brought up about Greek l

You’ve heard all the misconceptions/stereotypes which non-Greeks have brought up about Greek life in general. You’ve seen how Greek life has been inaccurately/poorly depicted/portrayed on television & in the movies. To make a long story short, what you’ve seen & heard is enough to make you have second thoughts about joining a Sorority/women’s Fraternity altogether (let alone give Formal Recruitment the time of day).

But if you’re really thinking about going Greek, don’t let the opinions/viewpoints of others get the upper hand. Don’t allow any doubts/second thoughts to sway you into not going Greek. Don’t listen to the detractors/doubters who say that Greek life isn’t for you. Above all, don’t believe other people’s misconceptions/stereotypes about Greek organizations!!

Go into Formal Recruitment with an open mind. Follow your heart. Ask any questions/address any concerns you might have while you’re ahead. See for yourself if Greek life is right for you. See for yourself if a Sorority/women’s Fraternity is a perfect place for you to call home & make your mark on campus. See for yourself if sorority women are the real deal. See for yourself if Greek life is a far cry from movies like Legally Blonde, Old School & Animal House. See for yourself what sorority life is all about before you wholeheartedly decide to join a Sorority/women’s Fraternity. No one’s standing in your way to tell you, “Hey, you can’t go Greek!!” The choice is yours to make, so choose wisely; even if you don’t go Greek or forego Formal Recruitment for another year, at least give Recruitment events & activities a shot & see what you think.

Also, keep in mind that no Sorority/women’s Fraternity is “worse”/”better” than another; every chapter on campus is amazing in its own way & on its own terms. Likewise, there is no “right”/”wrong” Sorority/women’s Fraternity to join; you’re bound to find an amazing organization where you can feel right at home. (In addition, all Sororities/women’s Fraternities at your college/university are NOT the same; each chapter has its strengths & weaknesses, pros & cons.) So if you decide to join a Sorority/women’s Fraternity, follow your heart & see for yourself what makes each chapter stand out on campus before making your final selection.

See for yourself. Chances are good that you’ll find a Sorority/women’s Fraternity where you truly belong & where you’ll feel right at home!!

Whether it’s for a chapter recruitment video, our chapter’s website or even sharing our stories about sorority life with the potential new members during Formal Recruitment, a testimonial is such an amazing way to tell these women how much we love our Sororities/women’s Fraternities & what our Sororities/women’s Fraternities mean to us.

In addition, our testimonials are a perfect opportunity for us to do the following:

tell the PNMs why we went Greek (as well as who & what inspired us to join our Sororities/women’s Fraternities);

tell the PNMs the best/most amazing part about Greek life at our colleges/universities;

tell the PNMs not only the benefits we gained by joining 0ur Sororities/women’s Fraternities but also show them the valuable lessons & experiences we’ve learned along the way;

tell the PNMs about our favorite Greek-sponsored events this past year;

show & tell the PNMs that sisterhood & friendship aren’t just for college days alone;

show & tell the PNMs how Greek life has made us into the women we are today: better friends, better sisters & women with strong character;

show & tell the PNMs more about our Sororities’/Fraternities’ philanthropies & the events which our chapters hold to support these philanthropies;

tell the PNMs how Greek life has encouraged us to excel academically;

show & tell the PNMs how joining our Sororities/women’s Fraternities has made us into more confident & stronger leaders for our chapters, campuses & communities;

and last but not least, show & tell the PNMs how joining our Sororities/women’s Fraternities has built/strengthened our character through both good times & bad.

However you choose to share your testimonials about Greek life & sisterhood, remember one thing: You’re not only telling potential new members how much you love your Sororities/Fraternities & how highly you value your Sororities/women’s Fraternities. You’re also inspirations for women who are thinking about going Greek as well!!

(Whether you’re a recruitment chair for your chapter/Panhellenic Council, the following post i

(Whether you’re a recruitment chair for your chapter/Panhellenic Council, the following post is for you.)

When it comes to planning, preparing & organizing events for either Formal/Informal Recruitment, a VP of Recruitment not only has one of the most important positions in her chapter or for her college’s/university’s Panhellenic Council. Besides multitasking & overseeing everything pertaining to Formal/Informal Recruitment, she also has the following charges & responsibilities to keep: informing potential new members of upcoming recruitment events, introducing potential new members to both her chapter & the Panhellenic community which she represents, promoting her Sorority/Fraternity/Panhellenic community, showing potential new members the various benefits which Greek life has to offer (as well as addressing the more serious aspects of sorority life), inspiring/encouraging/empowering as many potential new members as possible to go through the recruitment process & inspiring these amazing ladies to see if Greek life is truly for them, & above all, doing her part to find quality women for chapter membership!!

If you’re a VP of Recruitment, ask yourself the following questions:

Am I doing my part to find quality women for chapter membership?

Am I doing my part to keep potential new members updated/informed on recruitment events?

Am I inspiring potential new members to see if Greek life is truly for them? Am I empowering/encouraging these women to go Greek? Am I inspiring PNMs to join a Sorority/women’s Fraternity?

Am I doing my part to promote my Sorority/Fraternity, as well as my college’s/university’s Panhellenic Community?

Am I doing my part to introduce potential new members to my chapter & to a greater degree, my Sorority/Fraternity? Am I showing these women who my chapter is, what my chapter does on campus & in the local community, and what my Sorority/Fraternity is all about? Also, am I showing these women how much I love my Sorority/Fraternity & what my Sorority/Fraternity means to me?

Am I also doing my part to introduce potential new members to the Panhellenic Community which I represent?

Am I doing my part to show potential new members the various benefits which Greek life has to offer them? While I’m at it, am I also addressing the more serious aspects of sorority life?

If you can answer all of the following questions with a resounding “Yes!!”, you’re not only staying on top of your game as a VP of Recruitment. You’re also fulfilling the charges, expectations & responsibilities that go with being a recruitment chair. Moreover, you’re going to show others that you, your chapter & your Panhellenic Council literally take recruitment seriously.

For those incoming freshmen & other undergraduate women who are thinking about going Greek, here

For those incoming freshmen & other undergraduate women who are thinking about going Greek, here are some things to keep in mind before you finally decide to join a Sorority/women’s Fraternity during Formal Recruitment:

1. There is no “right”/”wrong” Sorority/women’s Fraternity to join; you’re bound to find an amazing Greek organization which is just right for you & where you can say to this effect, “I truly belong here.”

2. Going Greek is about following your heart & finding a Sorority/women’s Fraternity that’s just right for you. If you want to go Delta Zeta, go Delta Zeta. If you want to go Chi Omega, go Chi O. If you want to go Alpha Delta Pi, go ADPi. If you want to go Kappa Delta, go Kappa Delta. If you want to go Alpha Gamma Delta, go AGD. So on & so forth.

3. See for yourself if Greek life is truly right for you!! Visit each chapter during Formal Recruitment & see what you think. If you want to go Greek, go ahead. If not, that’s your prerogative.

4. Not all sororities are the same!! Each chapter that you’re going to visit is going to be amazing/unique in its own right/way. So after visiting all the sororities on campus, be sure to do the following: assess each chapter’s pros & cons, assess each chapter’s strengths & weaknesses, ask yourself where each chapter truly shines/where they don’t click with you & last but not least, ask yourself how seriously each chapter takes academics, philanthropy, community service & leadership opportunities.

5. It’s up to you if you want to join a sorority or not. The choice is yours & no one else’s. So follow your heart & make your decision with plenty of forethought!!

6. Last but not least, go Greek for all the right reasons!! If you love philanthropy & community service, here’s your chance to give Greek life a go. If you want to participate in intramural sports, here’s your chance to give Greek life a go. If you want to get involved in other campus organizations, here’s your chance to give Greek life a go. If you believe in achieving your personal best academically, here’s your chance to give Greek life a go. To make a long story short, by going Greek, you’ll get countless opportunities to do all of the above & much more!!

(The following post is a shoutout to sorority women everywhere.)

What is good news if we can’t pass it on to women who are thinking about joining a sorority? And what is good news if we can’t find the time to share it with PNMs who are wondering if Greek life is truly for them?

It’s on us to get the word out about not only Formal Recruitment events & when they’re going to take place, but also who our Sororities/Fraternities are, what our Sororities/Fraternities do & what our Sororities/Fraternities are all about. It’s on us to take a stand & get the word out about our chapters. It’s on us to tell potential new members how our organizations are making a positive impact on campus, the local community & the world.

Let’s face it: If we don’t get the word out about sorority life – & if we don’t get the word out about anything pertaining to Formal Recruitment – who will? If not us, who? And if not now, when?

Who’s going to inspire/encourage/empower women to go Greek if we don’t?

Who’s going to inspire/encourage women to see if Greek life is truly for them if we don’t?

Who’s going to show & tell these amazing ladies all the great things that our chapters do for our colleges/universities & communities if we don’t?

Who’s going to show & tell these amazing ladies how our chapters inspire women to become leaders & difference-makers for their chapters, campuses, communities & the world if we don’t?

Who’s going to show & tell how our Sororities/Fraternities set high standards & expectations for excellence if we don’t?

Who’s going to show & tell how our Sororities/Fraternities are constantly disproving the stereotypes about Greek life if we don’t?

Who’s going to cast our chapters – & for that matter, our Sororities/Fraternities – in a positive light if we don’t?

Who’s going to prove the doubters about Greek life wrong if we don’t?

How will potential new members know when Formal Recruitment’s going to be if we don’t tell them?

How can women know about our Sororities/Fraternities if we’re not doing our job?

It’s on us to get the word out about when Formal Recruitment’s going to be (as well as what to expect during the recruiting process). It’s on us to get the word out about who our Sororities/Fraternities are & what our Sororities/Fraternities do on campus, the local community & the world. It’s on us to show women who are planning to go Greek what our Sororities/Fraternities are truly about. Above all, it’s on us to show what makes our Sororities/Fraternities stand out on campus & why our organizations are amazing to begin with. If we don’t, who else is going to?

If not us, who? And if not now, when?

No matter which Sororities/Fraternities we represent, the following quotes continue to hold true about our organizations & sisterhood:

“The ties that bind me to my Sisters are not wrapped around my wrists, but rather are fastened to my heart.“

“Our sisterhood is not a destination, but a journey.”

“Chance made us sisters. Choice made us friends.“

“Sometimes we stand outside life waiting for a door to open to us, hoping the person behind that door will let us in and be our friend. I was once on the outside until a door opened to me and behind it I found not only a friend, but a new world – a sisterhood. Now I stand behind that door, on the inside, helping to open it for someone else who stands where I once stood.”

“It isn’t something you’ve just become; it’s something you’ve always been.”

“Sometimes sisters come into our lives, leave footprints on our life and we are never, ever the same.”

“When your letters are in front of you, your sisters are behind you.”

“These are the women who have shown me kindness and given me strength. They give me refuge when I am afraid and support me for who I am. They both believe in me and challenge me to change. But most importantly they are the inspiration for the person I am becoming.”

“Sisterhood’s a beautiful thing!!”

“These letters don’t make me better than you. These letters make me better than I used to be.”

If that’s not enough, deciding that we’re going to do a Recruitment skit called “What Makes You Beautiful.” #SororityRecruitmentproblems

Wishing that Formal Recruitment could begin right now, instead of having to wait around three/four months. #SororityRecruitmentproblems

Wondering if we can get everyone on the same page when it comes to preparing & planning for our Formal Recruitment events & activities. #SororityRecruitmentproblems

“How colorful/dazzling/frilly do you want this year’s Formal Recruitment to be, ladies?” #SororityRecruitmentproblems

Worrying that the main stars of the show during Formal Recruitment are going to be Lilly Pulitzer, Vineyard Vines & Vera Bradley. #SororityRecruitmentproblems

Deciding to put off planning & preparing for our chapters’ Formal Recruitment events/activities until two weeks before Recruitment Week. #SororityRecruitmentproblems

In the weeks leading up to Formal Recruitment, we’re inevitably bound to run into difficulties/complications of some sort. Some of them are minor while others are more pressing & urgent. Call them what you want to but I call them Sorority Recruitment problems.

For those chapters who take recruitment seriously, here are some real Sorority Recruitment ideas/suggestions which we should all be focusing on:

Having Formal Recruitment events without all the glitz, glamour, frills & other colorful distractions. #RealSororityRecruitmentideas

Deciding to select potential new members on Founders-worthy, Founders-approved criteria. Not using superficial premises/criteria for choosing our new members. #RealSororityRecruitmentideas

Doing Recruitment skits, presentations or chapter recruitment videos that get to the heart of who our Sororities/Fraternities are, what our Sororities/Fraternities do & what our Sororities/Fraternities are all about. #RealSororityRecruitmentideas

Putting 110% into planning & preparing for our chapters’ Sorority Recruitment events/activities. #RealSororityRecruitmentideas

Showing & proving to the PNMs why our chapters are so amazing to begin with. #RealSororityRecruitmentideas

Never settling for second best. Always stepping our game up when it comes to selecting quality women for chapter membership. #RealSororityRecruitmentideas

Showing & proving to the PNMs that we both promote & live our sisterhood. #RealSororityRecruitmentideas

Seeing to it that our chapters are ready to go for Sorority Recruitment. #RealSororityRecruitmentideas

Making sure that we make a first impression that’s not only lasting, but casts our chapters in a positive light. #RealSororityRecruitmentideas

Showing the PNMs that our Sororities/Fraternities have shaped us into empowered leaders & difference-makers for our chapters, colleges/universities, communities & the world. #RealSororityRecruitmentideas

During Formal Recruitment, you could give plenty of reasons why you chose to join your Sororities/F

During Formal Recruitment, you could give plenty of reasons why you chose to join your Sororities/Fraternities (as well as what compelled you to go Greek in the first place). But at the same time, you shouldn’t forget to tell the potential new members who will be visiting your houses/suites who truly inspired you to go Greek in the first place.

Don’t be content to say that your Big Sis, Grand Big or Great-Grand Big were the primary reasons for why you decided to join your Sororities/Fraternities in the first place. Likewise, don’t rattle off a list of famous women like Pat Summitt/Sela Ward/Lucy Liu (if you’re Chi Os), Nancy Grace/Danica McKellar/Kate Capshaw (if you’re ADPis), Florence Henderson (if you’re Delta Zetas), etc. Tell the PNMs who else inspired you to go Greek while you’re at it. Were your moms in sororities? Were your grandmothers sorority women? Were your dads fraternity men? Did you have any brothers/sisters/relatives who were Greek? If you can answer all/almost all of the questions with a resounding “Yes!”, don’t be afraid to bring any of these people up during your conversations with the potential new members.

Let’s face it: You can share plenty of reasons why you chose to become sorority women. You can tell others what really compelled you to go Greek. But you shouldn’t be hesitant to tell the potential new members who will visit your houses/suites during Formal Recruitment who inspired you to become Chi Os, Delta Zetas, ADPis, Alpha Phis, etc. etc.

Just think about it. By telling the PNMs who truly inspired you to become sorority women, you could easily be one of the greatest inspirations out there for any woman who’s planning to go Greek.

(The following post is a shoutout to those Phi Sigma Sigmas who just graduated; in addition, it

(The following post is a shoutout to those Phi Sigma Sigmas who just graduated; in addition, it’s a shoutout to other Phi Sigma Sigma undergraduates & alumnae.)

Phi Sigma Sigma is an experience unlike any other, one of the best things that could ever happen to any woman who chooses to go Greek. Phi Sigma Sigma inspires its undergraduate & alumnae members to make a heartfelt difference for their chapters, campuses & communities. Phi Sigma Sigma goes to show that sisterhood & friendship are for a lifetime. And last but not least, Phi Sigma Sigma is an experience that isn’t just for college days alone.

I said it once but I’ll say it again: Phi Sigma Sigma is an experience that isn’t just for college days alone. Whether it’s joining an alumnae club, volunteering for the Fraternity in various ways (e.g. as chapter advisors, mentors, recruitment advisors, among other things) or giving to the Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation, Phi Sigma Sigma is an experience that can’t be limited to a few years of college. It’s the experience of a lifetime!!

Phi Sigma Sigma is a reminder that sisterhood & friendship don’t come to a sudden stop after we graduate. Both of the above continue to go strong well after we receive our diplomas & take our first steps into the real world.

Phi Sigma Sigma isn’t about “arrival.” Nor is Phi Sigma Sigma a destination. Phi Sigma Sigma is a lifetime journey!! By getting involved in alumnae clubs, recommending young women for membership into Phi Sigma Sigma & even starting new chapters, we’re not only staying connected with Phi Sigma Sigma. We’re also making a positive impact on a Fraternity which has made/continues to make a lasting impact in our lives, even today.

Phi Sigma Sigma isn’t just for college days alone. Phi Sigma Sigma is for a lifetime.

No matter how we stay involved with the Fraternity after graduation, we can be sure of one thing: Phi Sigma Sigma is an experience that keeps on going strong even after we graduate!!

Formal Recruitment may be a few months away, but here are some things that every undergraduate membe

Formal Recruitment may be a few months away, but here are some things that every undergraduate member of Phi Sigma Sigma should keep in mind as you begin planning, preparing & practicing for your Formal Recruitment events & activities:

1. Recruitment isn’t something that we do just once a year or when we “feel like it.” It’s something that we should do all year long.

2. Recruitment’s all about quality, not quantity. It’s not a matter of how many new members we ended up getting on Bid Day. It is a matter of who we’re selecting for chapter membership as much as it is a matter of how & why we’re selecting these women for Phi Sigma Sigma.

3. It’s never too early to plan, prepare & practice for Sorority Recruitment.

4. A more-than-amazing/successful/truly memorable Formal Recruitment is something that we can’t plan for in a timeframe of just one/two weeks. It takes months of planning (anywhere from a few to several months).

5. The women we’re going to select for chapter membership are going to determine which direction our chapters will take in the future (for better or for worse). So think of not only who we want to join Phi Sigma Sigma; also think about why these women would be perfect candidates for chapter membership & how we’re selecting these women (on Founders-tested, Founders-approved criteria).

6. Summer Break may seem like a great time to relax/take a breather. But when it comes to anything pertaining to Formal Recruitment, we should spend our summer coming up with amazing, creative & workable Recruitment ideas/suggestions!!

7. First impressions are always lasting ones & even more so during Formal Recruitment. Whether we’re doing Recruitment skits, Recruitment presentations or chapter recruitment videos, don’t forget to show the potential new members who will be visiting our houses/suites why our chapters stand out like they do in such areas as academics, philanthropy, service & leadership development.

8. Simply planning & preparing for Sorority Recruitment is harder than it looks. Honestly, it’s time-consuming, exhausting & stressful; if we’re not even prepared, things can be ten times worse. So make sure that we’re ready to go well before Formal Recruitment even begins!!

9. It’s not about what songs we’re going to sing to the PNMs during our Recruitment Week events. It’s not about what songs we’re going to use for our Recruitment skits/videos. It’s all about getting the right message about Phi Sigma Sigma across to the potential new members: not just talking about sisterhood & friendship but getting to the heart of who Phi Sigma Sigma is, what Phi Sigma Sigma does & what Phi Sigma Sigma is all about.

10. Last but not least, Formal Recruitment is an opportunity for us to show the potential new members how much we love Phi Sigma Sigma & how Phi Sigma Sigma shaped us into the women we are today!!

Formal Recruitment may be roughly a few months down the road, but here are some things to keep in mind as you begin planning, preparing & practicing for the Main Event:

1. It’s never too early to plan, prepare & practice for Sorority Recruitment. (Seriously, it’s not.)

2. A more-than-amazing/successful/memorable Recruitment is something that you can’t plan for in one/two weeks time. It takes months & months of planning, preparing & of course, plenty of practice, practice, practice!!

3. Formal Recruitment isn’t about how many women we’ll be getting as new members. It’s who we’re getting as new members, how we’re selecting these amazing ladies for chapter membership & why we’re choosing these women for our Sororities/Fraternities in the first place.

4. The summer might seem like a perfect time for vacation/taking a break in the action. But when it comes to anything pertaining to Sorority Recruitment, we should also be spending our summer coming up with amazing, colorful/dazzling & (above all) really workable Formal Recruitment ideas!!

5. The women whom we’ll be selecting for chapter membership are going to be the ones who will determine which direction our chapters will take in the future (for better of for worse). So think of not only who we want for our Sororities/Fraternities, but also why we feel these amazing ladies would be perfect candidates for chapter membership & how we’re selecting these women (i.e. on Founders-tested, Founders-approved criteria).

6. Whether we’re doing Recruitment skits, Recruitment presentations or Recruitment videos, don’t forget to show the PNMs why our chapters stand out like they do in such areas as academics, philanthropy, service & leadership development.

7. Simply planning, preparing & getting ready for Sorority Recruitment is more difficult than it looks. To be honest, it can be time-consuming, exhausting & stressful for one & all.

8. It’s not about what theme we’re going to use for our Recruitment skits that will win the PNMs over to our chapters. It’s not about the music we’re using for our skits/Recruitment videos. It’s all about getting the right message across in our Recruitment skits/videos/presentations.

9. First impressions are always lasting ones – & even more so during Sorority Recruitment.

10. Last but not least, Formal Recruitment is an opportunity to show the PNMs how much we love our Sororities/Fraternities & how our Sororities/Fraternities shaped us into the women we are today!!
