My daughter Abby and I just spent the weekend at Landmark Education’s Access to Communication Course

My daughter Abby and I just spent the weekend at Landmark Education’s Access to Communication Course. If I weren’t already a Landmark graduate, I’d say I couldn’t believe what I learned. Since I am a Landmark graduate, I’ll share with you my delight at learning just how simple and loving communication can be.

Of course, I’d urge you graduates reading this blog to register for this course and those of you who aren’t yet graduates to explore the Landmark Forum. You might get an idea of how forceful this work is when I tell you that my upcoming marriage is a result of it.

As a matter of fact, there’s an introduction this Wednesday night at the Scottsdale center from 7 – 11. The address is 16100 North Greenway-Hayden Loop, Suite 108, and the phone number is 602-222-1110. You can always contact me and we can go together.

I chose communication about CKD as the topic for this week’s blog because I have been doing just that… and being startled over and over again at the number of people I’ve spoken with that know nothing about Chronic Kidney Disease. So, this week, we go back to basics.

Anyone know what the kidneys are and what they do? Will the gentleman with his hand raised in the back of the room answer the question, please? Oh, it’s my future son-in-law, Sean, and he’s quoting me!

On page 1 of What Is It And How Did I Get It? Early Stage Chronic Kidney Disease, Gail Rae wrote, “Later, I learned that the kidneys were two reddish brown organs which lay on the muscles of the back on either side of your spine above hipbone level and below the diaphragm… Some have compared their size to that of a clenched fist or a large computer mouse, and the right one lies lower than the left since the liver is on that side.” [You can order digital copies of the book at Amazon.com and B&N.com. Print copies are available at Amazon.com and myckdexperience@gmail.com.]

I couldn’t have said it better myself. [ Ha Ha. Get it? I DID say it.] Now about their function… Ah, lady on the left side of the room. Estelle, my dear East Coast buddy, I didn’t know you were here.

According to The National Kidney and Urologic Diseases Information Clearinghouse (NKUDIC), A service of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), National Institutes of Health (NIH) at http://kidney.niddk.nih.gov/kudiseases/pubs/yourkidneys/#kidneys, “Every day, a person’s kidneys process about 200 quarts of blood to sift out about 2 quarts of waste products and extra water. The wastes and extra water become urine, which flows to the bladder through tubes called ureters. The bladder stores urine until releasing it through urination.” Nice job!

What else do they do? Nima? Yes, you may answer questions even though you’re my daughter. Well then:

Control your body’s chemical balance

Help control your blood pressure

Help keep your bones healthy

Help you make red blood cells

You’ve learned well. What was your source? The American Kidney Fund at http://www.kidneyfund.org/kidney-health/kidney-basics/your-kidneys.html.

That’s a good one, as are all the others mentioned here. They each contain far more information than we’ve included in today’s blog and can make you a sort of neophyte kidney expert. Well, maybe someone who knows about his/her early stage chronic kidney disease or that of someone you know and/or love might be a more realistic title.

More? Okay. How many people have chronic kidney disease? Look there. Lara, my step-daughter, who is in very good health (thank the powers that be) is here. Ummm, I did tell you that number but it’s changed a bit since then. It’s 26 million in the USA alone and raising. Those are the diagnosed people. There are millions of other who have not yet realized they have CKD according to The National Kidney Foundation at http://www.kidney.org/kidneydisease/aboutckd.cfm#facts

How do you know if you have it? Excellent question, Kelly. As another healthy person, my step-daughter has asked an important question. Since there are rarely symptoms, it’s all about blood and urine tests. A simply stated E-how article at http://www.ehow.com/how_2051919_test-kidney-disease.html explains without overwhelming. Basically, your doctor is looking for protein in your urine and at the following values in your blood test: GFR (glomerular filtration rate) and bun (blood urea nitrogen). I don’t advocate eHow for medical information, but this one is not that bad.

I will, Bear, right now. The wonderful man I’ll be marrying in April asked me to make certain I write about the renal diet. He follows it with me so we don’t have to cook two different meals when we do cook and he lost 60 pounds in the first several months of doing so. I could hate him for that, except that I already love him.

The renal diet is only one part of the treatment. [There’s also exercise, adequate sleep and lack of stress.] I thought the one at Buzzle (http://www.buzzle.com/articles/diet-for-chronic-kidney-disease-ckd.html) was a good example until I realized there was no potassium restriction on this diet. I follow that of the Northern Arizona Council of Renal Dietitians. What this tells us is that you need to pay attention to the specific renal diet the nephrologist (kidney and high blood pressure expert) has given you or your loved one, friend, and/or co-worker.

Basically, sodium, phosphorous, protein, potassium and fluids are restricted. Sometimes, I feel like my fluids are exaggerated rather than restricted – like when I’m writing – and have to remind myself to drink so I can meet my 64 ounces/per day ‘limit.’

My neighbor and friend, Amy, just asked me to backtrack a bit and discuss the causes of CKD. That would be helpful, wouldn’t it?

eMedicine at http://www.emedicinehealth.com/chronic_kidney_disease/page3_em.htmers this. Two thirds of ckd is caused by high blood pressure or diabetes, but they neglected to mention that sometimes ckd is simply a result of growing older – as in my case.

You know the people I mentioned are not in my office as I write this blog, so here’s a public thank you to each of them for the loan of their names. I kind of think they would have offered those answers or asked these questions if they were here with me right now.

Check out those websites. They offer quite a bit of information.

Until next week,

Keep living your life!

I thought I might start on this subject early in hopes of averting problems. The most discouraging phone calls I get are rams or show wethers that are showing symptoms of urinary calculi. At that point the chance of success is limited. Occasionally a person can get lucky and clip the feeler on the end of the penis and that will contain the sand or stone but usually the only fix is to amputate the penis and pull it out the back and the usefulness of the animal has diminished to salvage value. Generally stones are located higher where the penis makes a bend. If the penis ruptures instead of the bladder and there is edema of under line and scrotum surgery can still be successful an the animals still salvaged for slaughter after a recovery period. Rams that recover after removing feeler or appendage are ok for breeding.

The stones are invariably the result of addition of Phosphorus to the ration. Other factors such as availability of salt, lack of calcium in the ration and a clean plentiful source of water contribute.

So how do we prevent?

When lambs are self fed 30#of limestone, 20# of salt and 5 to 10# ammonium chloride per ton of feed. Access to a clean plentiful source of water, free choice loose salt and hay, preferably alfalfa. With this type of a ration seldom will you see a problem. I have seen in young lambs that haven’t been weaned yet, Rarely but I believe these are a result of an anatomical defect or a metabolic defect of some sort,

Avoid feeds and minerals containing added phosphorus. Dicalcium phosphate is often used and ratios are talked about but at the end of the day lamb rations are loaded with phosphorus and adding more and keeping the ratios correct isn’t the answer, thats what some nutritionists don’t understand.

Any procedure that encourages the consumption of water helps. The feeding of alfalfa hay not only encourages water consumption but delivers additional calcium as well.

The ammonium chloride changes the PH of the urine which helps dissolve stones and prevent formation of more.

Reoccurring calls about urinary calculi led to the development of our selenium and iodine premixes that can be mixed with loose white salt that is basically all that is needed in most sheep rations.

As one of the most expensive seafood available, lobsters are often considered a luxury. This crustacean’s subtly flavoured meat is highly prized and priced and tends to be found on menus of high end gourmet restaurants while only a few connoisseurs and food enthusiasts dare to cook it at home. However, slowly but surely, Pakistani taste buds are also developing an appreciation for the delicate flavour of lobster meat, especially during the winter months.

The phrase “too much of a good thing” particularly applies to lobster and other crustaceans, including shrimp and crayfish which are easy on the palate but can cause health problems if eaten in excess. Although it’s common knowledge that crustaceans raise cholesterol and have high sodium content (and should be avoided by heart patients and hypertensive people) it’s not all bad news because they have some redeeming qualities too – they are rich in the following beneficial nutrients:

Proteins are carriers of vitamins, oxygen and carbon dioxide plus they act as enzymes essential for chemical reaction in the body. They are an integral part of the immune system and participate in building muscle.

B Vitamins (B6, Niacin, Pantothenic Acid, Riboflavin and Folate) need to be consumed daily because this group of water soluble vitamins is not stored in the body. This vitamin group plays a role in carbohydrate metabolism and energy production; folate is required for nucleic acid (DNA) synthesis and a deficiency during pregnancy can result in spinal tube defects in the baby.

Calcium is essential for strong bones and teeth and for efficient muscle contraction, including proper pumping of the heart muscles.

Magnesium is required for strong bones and teeth.

Phosphorus is a constituent of DNA and helps build strong bones/teeth.

Zinc helps the speedy healing of wounds and efficient growth; a deficiency can lead to hair fall.

Vitamin A is important to maintain good vision, though excessive levels can lead to toxicity.

These are one of the most open and ethereal types. When in balance life is full of wonderment and joy. Their energy is expansive and therefore if there is some imbalance it is like feeling all these pieces inside are broken. Shattered is a good word to describe this.

Now I write from my point of view. If I go to the shopping centre, my energy is expansive towards others, I am drifting toward everyone. I lose myself in the place. When I come home I am shattered, it’s like the pieces inside me are cracked. I really can’t do anything for a 4 hours until I pull my energy back to my centre.

Sometimes it is hard to sleep because I feel the negative vibrations. I need to consecrate my room. You are so ultra sensitive that dense energy affects you. Can you hear the sound of bugs crawling?

My consciousness drifts from myself, others, to collective. This is the kind of thing Phosphorus has to deal with.

The Phosphorus people I have treated have so much problems dealing with physical and material worlds. As a Phosphorus it is important to stay balanced, when you are balanced you have a greater affect on the people and things around you. Everything flows more and life is easier. A dose of Phosphorus helps, but they often need a daily dose to keep things in perspective and balance.

Nothing is more telling of the global fight for resources than a few trips to Asia and long conversations with clients as I have learned this past year.

To build the roads, bridges, cars, planes, and power plants their people need, policy makers, CEOs, and consumers in India, China, Thailand, and Malaysia in Asia are all consumed by sourcing the traditional commodities of coal, oil, and gas but also metals, minerals, and chemicals. The same stakeholders in resource-rich nations such as Australia and Indonesia are focused on keeping their customers happy while fighting cost inflation and talent shortages.

Even so, companies across the value chain are proactively investing in innovation to improve extraction productivity, find substitutes for increasingly scarce ingredients, and promote recycling. As a result, Mosaic now extracts 97% — up from 90% — of phosphorus from phosphate rock, BASF is developing alternatives to rare earths in key refining catalysts, and Dewalt is offering discounts to incentivize lithium battery recycling.

You, however, need not necessarily travel to Asia to learn more. Three books — Winner Take All, The Race for What’s Left, and The Oil Curse — provide interesting if sometimes biased accounts of these issues.

Wouldn’t it be lovely if we could just go into the garden, scoop up some dirt and be in busine

Wouldn’t it be lovely if we could just go into the garden, scoop up some dirt and be in business? Unfortunately, my garden has nothing but clay soil which makes it hard for most plants to grow. I’ve bought and spread bags of amendment to no avail. Bad soil is my lot so I’ve started doing a lot of container gardening for fussy plants.

So what soil do I buy for my containers? It depends on the type of plant. We buy soils for their various draining abilities and for air flow. Cactus soil is specially formulated for faster drainage because cactus and succulents don’t want to have wet feet. Potting soil stays moist longer so it’s good for plants that prefer constant moisture. Potting mix is my favorite as it seems the most versatile for container plants as it allows enough air flow and drains well while retaining moisture. Bark is best for orchids because it retains the right amount of water and allows for a lot of air flow (orchids are susceptible to root rot and need lots of air.) Clay soil holds too much water and also prevents roots from spreading as they have to work very hard to push through the dense texture.

The soil itself provides nothing but a medium to hold or drain water and air. Some soils are sold with slow-release fertilizers mixed in but most have no nutrients at all. The plant gets nutrients from the fertilizers we add. According to common wisdom, fertilizers should be used only during a plant’s growing season but I apply them whenever I remember. I think that most gardening rules don’t apply to San Diegans.

Look on any fertilizer box and you’ll see three numbers for Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium (NPK.) An easy way to remember what they’re for is thinking “up-down-all around.” Nitrogen grows leaves and stems. Phosphorus is good for the roots (and blooms.) Potassium is good for the overall health of the plant. Plants typically absorb these nutrients in a 3:1:2 ration so a 24-8-16 all purpose fertilizer is great especially if it contains other minerals such as Magnesium, Calcium, Sulphur, Boron, Copper, Iron, Manganese, Molybdeneum and Zinc. Water soluble fertilizers give you greater control over quantity and frequency than slow-release granules that dissolve a little at a time whenever the plants are watered.

Check out this piece for a great explanation of fertilizers.

http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/load/contain/msg0510442422001.html

I could try and put this in my own words but why try to paraphrase Al’s excellent thesis? My take away from this is that I should use 3:1:2 for leafy plants and something with a higher phosphorus ratio for blooms, maybe a 1:1:1. I’ve even bought 1:3:1 and 1:5:1 bloom boosters. You can manipulate the percentage by using more or less per gallon of water. Also, try and put some fertilizer every time you water (more waterings obviously mean less fertilizer each time.) I tend to use half the amount recommended on the box because I’m afraid of burning the plant. Using some fertilizer every time ensures that the plant is never without nutrients. It isn’t as if nutrients show up in nature all of a sudden followed by nothing at all.

This is all talk, by the way. I hardly ever remember to fertilize but when I do, I use the amount I would use if I were fertilizing regularly (because that’s my intention at that moment.) Better to err on the side of too little than too much, imho.

My latest plan is to use half the recommended continuous release all-purpose fertilizer (10-10-10) on all my plants including containers. Even with frequent watering (rain or summer heat), I don’t think my plants will get over-fertilized.

Phosphorus is a vital part of all life. It is not only found in our body’s energy source (ATP) and i

Phosphorus is a vital part of all life. It is not only found in our body’s energy source (ATP) and in our very DNA, but it is a crucial building block for the life of plants as well. Interestingly enough, it is a finite resource, irreplaceable, and mined in just a few places around the world (it is found mostly in the lithosphere, or the solid, outer part of the Earth’s crust a.k.a. sediment, soil, and rock). Despite its suggested scarcity, and its crucial role in plant and animal life, the overuse of phosphorus in any natural cycle can be problematic and damaging.

Phosphorus presents a Goldilocks problem. Too much phosphorus causes harmful algae to bloom in waterways, leading to bigger environmental concerns down the road. Too little phosphorus in soil prevents crop growth in general.

For example, phosphorus-heavy agricultural run-off often empties into waterways. Excess phosphorus attracts phytoplankton and causes algae to bloom. The populations of these species begin to flourish and explode upwards, due to the phosphorus rich environment. Once their food source runs out, death follows them, making way for decomposers to take care of the physical remnants, but in the process consuming the dissolved oxygen in the water. What results from these processes is hypoxia, or the manifestation of a dead zone where there is simply not enough dissolved oxygen in the water to support life.

With too little phosphorus, plants struggle to grow. For example, Amazonian agriculture was unheard of until the advent of phosphorus based fertilizer. The soils in the Amazon had very little phosphorus content, and could not support the large-scale planting of crops, like soybeans. Now, with the help of phosphorus-based fertilizers, crops can prosper in these tropical climates.

In recent months, a group of scientists from Brown University published a study examining the use of phosphorus-based fertilizer in three of the world’s most productive soybean growing regions: Iowa (United States), Mato Grosso (Brazil), and Buenos Aires (Argentina). These three locations produce the same end product, but the fertilizer they use and its effects on the surrounding environment are wildly different.

In Mato Grosso, farmers use fertilizers very heavily, but since the natural soils found in this region lack vital nutrients, the soil is able to retain, or absorb the fertilizer (and its nutrients) and keep it from becoming run-off at the expense of phosphorus reserves. In Iowa, on the other hand, they have been forced to cut back on fertilizers because eutrophication caused by run-off destroys waterways. In Buenos Aires, it seems that they have found equilibrium in the utilization of fertilizer and natural soils. They have a “break-even” phosphorus budget where they are putting in enough fertilizer, but not too much, to prevent run-off, but give their crops sufficient reserves of phosphorus to prosper.

The researchers conclude that whether phosphorus based fertilizer will be harmful to an environment, or not, is dependent upon the original soil it is placed in, in addition to its historical context. Therefore, the management practices will need to be catered towards the specific circumstances of the soil, instead of having a one-size-fits-all plan, and these management practices must have one eye on the environmental costs at all times. Phosphorus is a magical nutrient in the right doses, but either too much or too little can have damaging consequences on the food supply.

Southern Grocery Cart It’s easy to throw healthy eating habits out the window when you’re away from

Southern Grocery Cart

It’s easy to throw healthy eating habits out the window when you’re away from home and your regular routine. Andrea D’Ambrosio, RD talks about ways to create a healthy winter routine while staying on a budget.

Plan ahead and stick to a list
Being prepared before you grab your grocery cart will help you avoid impulse purchases. It also gives you time to look at flyers, find sales and clip coupons. Try taking advantage of no-name products and avoiding shopping while you’re hungry.

Shop in season and avoid being wasteful
Buy in-season foods from local farmer’s markets, which is cheaper, and be resourceful with leftovers, using up excess food before it goes to waste, she says.

Consider vegetarian alternatives
If you study your grocery bill, meat products are often among the most expensive items. Consider planning meals with vegetarian alternatives like lentils, beans and soy. Check out vegetarian websites for heart- and budget-healthy meal ideas, she suggests.

Here are 5 friendly foods and the reasons you should add them to your grocery list:

Fresh, seasonal fruit: A favorite snack to boost energy levels between meals if you feel a little hungry (power of carbs) and allows you to benefit from vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.

Low-fat (1 percent) or non-fat milk: In order to maintain our bone density, we need to consume adequate dairy to receive calcium, phosphorous, magnesium and protein, which are all essential for bone growth and development.

Whole grains: According to the Journal of Nutrition (2011), oats, barley, rice and quinoa all lower risk of chronic diseases such as coronary heart disease, diabetes and cancer, as well contribute to body-weight management and gastrointestinal health. Try buying whole-grain pasta and remember to look for the words “whole grain” on the label.

Almonds: But just a handful a day, and make them unsalted! A portion-controlled (quarter cup) serving of almonds is excellent for lowering cholesterol because of the unsaturated fats, making them a heart-healthy choice. Almonds are high in vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant, and are naturally high in fiber and a good source of protein!

Edamame: Green soybeans, made popular in Japanese cuisine but available in grocery stores, add a nice nutritional punch. These tasty soybeans can be added as a side dish, steamed in the pod or consumed as a snack or appetizer. Nutritionally speaking, they are another heart-healthy source of protein, fiber and vitamins.

The First Amendment (Amendment I) to the United States Constitution is part of the Bill of Rights. The amendment prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion, impeding the free exercise of religion, abridging the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press, interfering with the right to peaceably assemble or prohibiting the petitioning for a governmental redress of grievances.

Congress shall not make NO LAW yet… Obama has made it ILLEGAL and a FELONY to protest or be anywhere near a Secret Service officer. Who’s Identity is usually hidden unless you can see the concealed radios and earphones or that officer say, “Talking to His/Her HAND!”

These POLICE in so many ways instead of bringing “Protection” and making sure “ones rights” are fully addressed, have become the terrorists too. Victims today even hate to call the Law Enforcement as the “VICTIMS” are the ones who either arrested or shot dead. However, There are many “GOOD COPS” but it is hard to see good when all the bad is always seen.

Yet this article I am writing is not about our Law Enforcement, More of the U.S. Policeman of the world with Israel riding saddle. It is clear though that their recent change in training by DHS having Israeli forces train ALL Law Enforcement has made noticeable rise in law enforcement crimes.

In the following article from Reuters:
18 Days with Syria’s Rebels
Reuter’s does a good job in showing how U.S. Supported Rebel’s have such a hard a life as they like the Israeli’s, punch holes in building after building so like moles they can move from one scene of guerrilla warfare to another as they attack random targets (mostly civilian’s).

Personally I try not to quote from Reuters as many whom like myself have been blocked from their comments section. Many try to correct what they are presented as News but is clearly all propaganda. Now that I think of it, I personally am blocked also on CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS as well as New York Times, Washington Post and especially on ANY of the Alex Jones websites… But that is whole other story. But most post’s are removed within (ONE MINUTE) from the Jones websites. STRATFOR! ‘Danger’ Will Robinson!

However, Reuters presents these rebels as young handsome men that are engaged in a fight for their “Democracy in their country.” That is anything but the truth as most Rebel fighters are not Syrian but from areas of Qatar, Turkey, Afghanistan, Iraq and other proxy puppet states “regimes” supported by the United States to cause terror.

Where Bernanke of the Non-Federal “Federal Reserve” says he isn’t telling anyone about WHO got what TRILLIONS in the biggest Wealth exchange ever pulled on the World where Bankers received Millions in bonus pay but not one single banker is in prison!
Bernanke is telling YOU that YOU and YOUR CHILDREN’S – CHILDREN are going to be taxed to actual DEATH! This is also a major part of the Arab Spring movement.
For decades these Zionist’s who escaped from Germany and that had the NAZI ideas, they have implemented them in the worlds biggest Spy Organization not only covertly operating in Palestine but with their Mossad SS that rivals that of the German Schutzstaffel (SS) / Waffen-SS they have been training in all nations for THEIR OWN “Security” Bringing the WWII era Police State, Prison camps, Guard stations, Check points and a Spying system have never let them Billions trickle down to the People of those nations. Best YouTube video ever. The Police State, courtesy of Israel.

In closing, Here is something I found Interesting. Especially about Syria’s electoral system. How Bashar Al Assad got his position also.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bashar_al-Assad
What most don’t know about who leads the Syrian Government.

Bashar Hafez al-Assad born 11 September 1965) is the current President of Syria and Regional Secretary of the Syrian-led branch of the Arab Socialist Ba’ath Party. His father Hafez al-Assad ruled Syria for 29 years until his death in 2000.

Al-Assad graduated from the medical school of the University of Damascus in 1988, and started to work as a physician in the army. Four years later, he attended postgraduate studies at the Western Eye Hospital, in London, specializing in ophthalmology. In 1994, after his elder brother Bassel, the heir apparent to their father, was killed in a car crash, Bashar was hastily recalled to Syria to take over Bassel’s role. He entered the military academy, and took charge of the Syrian occupation of Lebanon in 1998. In December 2000, Assad married Asma Assad, née Akhras. Al-Assad was elected as President of Syria in 2000 and 2007, unopposed each time.

Initially seen by the domestic and international community as a potential reformer and gaining the nickname “The Hope”, this expectation gave way to the events of the Syrian civil war. The domestic Syrian opposition and large parts of the wider international community have subsequently called for al-Assad’s resignation from power.

What can be clearly documented from many On-line Syrian supporters of the Assad Government is exactly as “WIKI” states…

The Syrian government characterizes the insurgency as an uprising of “armed terrorist groups and foreign mercenaries”. The conflict has no clear fronts, with clashes taking place in many towns and cities across the country. By December 2012, the rebels had captured approximately 60 percent of Syria’s territory.

The Arab League, United States, European Union, Arab Gulf States and other countries have condemned the use of violence against the protesters. Which is EXACTLY what they are DOING to their own Citizen’s. Fact! The Arab League, United States, Israel, European Union and the Arab Gulf States all act as 100% Hypocrites in condemning Bashar Al Assad when they ALL are doing the exact same thing and even more-so when it comes to the Apartheid Failed State of Israel whom is also supported with your U.S. Tax Dollars.

Another Supported Terrorist with U.S. Dollars – ISRAEL

The Failed State of Israel today continues to attack a 100% Civilian People in Palestine in areas of East Jerusalem, West Bank and Gaza on a people who haven’t neither an Army, Navy, Marines or Air-Force. They are fighting to maintain lands yet to be stolen that has been in their famili in a decades long Occupation where Israel violates human rights, U.N. Resolutions and International laws

Israel like the United States will target anyone including all military age males and now… Children playing in the dirt because these “Children” may have been enlisted to plant IEDs so are now “Target’s” of yet another “Occupying Army” in Countries that also want the United States… To LEAVE!

After you have bombed their country for years, locked up thousands in prison and tortured them “to death” for just being of all things [Arab's or Muslim's] Splitting up families for years with no chance for a trial or release.

That maybe… just maybe as people don’t see any sort of a future as all your countries politicians have been bought by bribes and the “relief” sent never gets to those intended because of the hired contractors steal it. Even screwing the US Soldiers out of potable water and other needed things. – That just maybe you wouldn’t care if you lived or died and… To get even you want to take as many of them Bastards as you can with you…!!!

Does that sound bad and that those horrible “Savages” should be nuked?

Well the same thing happens here, only its “White Christian’s” that walk into a theater or school and other places like post offices and proceeds the GET EVEN! Yep!

After being screwed for so long even a normal American will do an ACT of TERRORISM. For that act was their last Vote and attempt at their form of Democracy too.

Only ONE THING in America stays the same which affects the entire world. ( ONE THING ) and galvanizes every country with impunity to any laws or slight regulations if any.

THE BANKING SYSTEM!

From all the problems in the world it can all be traced to the biggest Banking Scandals where banks only get a slap on the wrist and millions of bonus pay. Like the IMF that after NATO and US Rebel’s murdered 50,000 in Libya, US and Allied forces murdered 1,000,000 in Iraq over a “BUNCH” of

A little more than eight years ago when my family and I moved from Southern California to Kentucky, we had no idea what to expect about so many things. I didn’t expect it to be nearly impossible to buy a healthy breakfast, I didn’t expect salad-bars to be as elusive as Bigfoot, and I certainly didn’t expect to have the cleanest, most delicious water flowing freely from the sinks of my home.

For the past eight years, right around mid-December, the temperature of the cold tap-water dips below 45 degrees and stays that cool for three months. During this time I have the tastiest, most refreshing liquid on the planet flowing from my faucets.

Kentucky’s water is what makes the bluegrass blue. It’s high in phosphorus building our horses’ bones lighter yet stronger than any other, making them the fastest on Earth. It flavors our Bourbon, giving Kentucky sole distilling rights to the name “Bourbon” itself. It also gives our bread a lightness and crunchiness that is shared with much of the East Coast. If there’s a downside, it would be that the water makes poor tortillas that lack chewiness, and it may contribute to kidney stones, but during this magical winter season, these are hardly deterrents from daily mass consumption of the elixir that flows through the arteries of my house.

Of course this celebration doesn’t come from blindness to the world’s crises concerning clean, available water, and before posting this I donated $20 to UNICEF’s Clean Tap-water Project for Africa: http://www.tapproject.org/donate/, and I suggest you donate too. But if you find yourself in Lexington during Winter, drop by my crib and let me pour you a drink!

Here we are right smack in the middle of Chanukah with Christmas and Kwaanza coming up. We’ve read all the health articles about how to plan our party eating

including the menorah lighting and latkes one at our house later this week – and we all know to avoid sodium since it causes so much havoc with blood pressure which causes further problems, right? Maybe not.

Be prepared to have your minds blown (ahem, I am a child of the 60s):

Scant Evidence That Salt Raises BP, Review Finds

by Chris Kaiser, Cardiology Editor, MedPage Today

Published: December 04, 2012

The evidence for health benefits associated with salt reduction is controversial and the “concealment of scientific uncertainty” is a mistake, researchers suggested.

Because this is such a treatment shattering controversy, I decided to let the experts speak for themselves. Do go to the following link and listen to them yourselves. (Notice the doctors insist that sodium restriction needs to depend upon the individual patient, not that it should be universally discarded.)

You can read the rest of the article and hear the doctors at: http://www.medpagetoday.com/Cardiology/Hypertension/36248?utm_content=&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=DailyHeadlines&utm_source=WC&xid=NL_DHE_2012-12-05&eun=g596983d0r&userid=596983&email=myckdexperience@gmail.com&mu_id=5721543

So, what does this mean for us as Chronic Kidney Disease patients?  Well… let’s go back to CKD basics for a moment.  We are restricted as far as the three ps (protein, potassium, phosphorous) and sodium, not to mention fluid intake and – for some of us – caloric intake.  {That’s odd, these restrictions don’t seem that complicated anymore, but when I type them, they look a bit daunting.}

Okay, so sodium. Too much sodium can lead to hypertension (or can it?), which may lead to CKD. You already have CKD. You are still at risk for edema, which is swelling caused by fluid retention in the tissues of the body. Since this is already a potential problem for CKD patients, why exacerbate it?

This is what I wrote about sodium in What Is It And How Did I Get It? Early Stage Chronic Kidney Disease:

“What makes it worse is that there is no internal mechanism that tells us if we need more or less salt. CKD sufferers are in a spot because the kidneys are the only route by which to eliminate excess salt.

Basically, sodium balances fluid levels outside your cells. You need it because it is responsible for watering your cells. This watering is the prompt for potassium to dump waste [cell process by-products] from your cells. Sodium does deal with other functions of the body, but this is a pretty important one.

If you have damaged kidneys and cannot excrete most of the sodium you ingest, you’re up again higher blood pressure {is that still true?} which may worsen your CKD which may further cut down on your elimination of sodium and so on and so forth in an ever spiraling cycle. In addition, for CKD patients, too much sodium causes fluid retention, thereby causing swelling, further resulting in weight gain, leading to shortness of breath. That’s why your nephrologist asks if you’ve experiences shortness of breath.”

It gets worse. Too much sodium can increase your need for potassium. While potassium is a necessity since it “dumps waste from your cells, but also helps the kidneys, heart and muscles to function normally. Too much potassium can cause irregular heart beat and even heart attack. This can be the most immediate danger of not limiting your potassium.” (also from my book)

That is a simple, direct and universally accepted explanation of the horrors of sodium for CKD patients. But is it still true for you? With these newly uncovered controversies, who knows? Speak with your nephrologist, but use common sense, too. I would not recommend running for the salt shaker under any circumstances, but is it safe to eat the fresh made potato chips you ordered at the local brewery (not that I drank any beer. Oh – I mean, not that you drank any beer.) when you tasted a bit of salt on them?

We are not an overly social couple, yet we have our Chanukah party, a friend’s huge pot luck, Bear’s work holiday social (Let’s hear it for Rockler’s! They know how to do it right.), Christmas eve at Sean and Kelly’s (wow, another family tradition torch passed to the next generation) and now I’m playing around with the idea of a quiet champagne and caviar – neither of which I can eat – new year’s eve if that’s something the Arizona grown children and the assorted fiancés and boyfriends or best friends would be interested in. That’s a lot of food intake planning.

I thought about taking it party by party and that has worked well for me. Prior to that, I had a forbidden list I carried around in my head. That was a total bust. I would become frustrated at all the foods I couldn’t eat even though they were beautifully and enticingly displayed in front of me and just go whole hog. Then I had to deal with the guilt, to say nothing of the bodily discomfort, that I felt after.

Yes, party by party is better for me. But that’s not all. I am analytic, so I peruse the offerings and then – slowly – mentally check off what I can ingest, all the while socializing. That works for me. So does the old dieter’s motto: do-not-stay-seated-at-the-table-with-that-wonderfully-aromatic-food-in-front-of-you. Feeling well armed to go to your holdiay parties with sodium intake well in hand? Go party!

Until next week,

keep living your life!

Conference Cambridge Dec 2012. What challenges? The growing world demand for food. Scarcity of land

Conference Cambridge Dec 2012.

What challenges?

The growing world demand for food. Scarcity of land and water. Ecological limits are almost reached. We must produce more with less environmental impact. Sustainable intensification.

Some believe that organic agriculture is the solution. But the production is too low. We need increases, not reductions. We need an ecologically better general agriculture.

What innovations?

Higher and more reliable yields. The ambitious English project Wheat 20-20 (20 tons/ha year 2020), a combination of plant breeding and agronomic development.

Better adaptation of inputs and resources. More efficient phosphorus fertilization, for instance placement (common in Sweden) and maybe foliar or seed application as complements.

Focus also on potassium and magnesium. Deficiencies, also shortterm, reduce stress tolerance and yields.

Cover crops. They reduce nitrate leaching and in addition provide organic matter and are positive for life in soils. They function also as break crops in rotations.

Manure is a great problem. Theoretically a good solution is to move animal production back to crop producing farms. Go back to mixed agriculture. But that does not work in our economic reality.

Two ways are worked on: to improve the manure efficiency at farm level and to process manure to marketable or at least transportable products which can be removed from the farm. However, it is not an easy problem to solve.

The longterm nitrogen efficency of manure is low. The most efficient method, injection, has a longterm efficiency of 55% compared to mineral fertilizer. In practice the efficiency today is only half of that.

A problem mentioned is that economic realities often do not permit use of improved agronomic measures. This a big problem for the world development.

The types of weaponry and bombs the Assad regime is being supplied with are mostly internationally prohibited weapons, including nail bombs, cluster bombs, and now phosphoric bombs, reportedly used for the first time yesterday, 6/12/2012, on Deir Al Zor’s suburbs.

Some of the types of the cluster bombs used are RBK-250, which are Soviet-made cluster bombs that Russia has been aiding Assad regime with. Helicopters have been dropping these cluster bombs on heavily-populated areas for the past 6 months or so, killing and injuring much civilians along. First footage of such usage emerged from Daraa, as seen in here back in July, where women were heard screaming as the new type of bomb was dropped by the helicopter that was hovering above, causing a huge explosion of smoke and shrapnel. When these bombs explode, they release tens, sometimes hundreds of smaller bomb-lets that scatter in an area the size of a football field. Not all of them explode at once, as reported in Human Rights Watch’s report; some of the smaller bombs stay intact and are very dangerous as they remain active for weeks, months, sometimes years and could explode abruptly in civilian areas where they have been dropped.

Apparently, cluster bombs do not cause the damage the atrocious Assad regime is willing to afflict onto civilian populations and Free Syrian Army soldiers. Yesterday, and reportedly for the first time, helicopters hovered over Deir Al Zor’s suburbs and dropped phosphoric bombs over Mra’eyyah town, similar to those Israeli warplanes used over Gaza in Operation Cast Lead war in 2009-2010. Here, photos show the white phosphorus bombs dropped by the Israeli warplanes over Gaza; they explode in air in what looks like spirals similar to fireworks. The same bombs were used over Deir Al Zor since activists reassured that after they began comparing the footage Syrian activists released to the photos taken in Gaza back in OCL war.

White phosphorus is known for causing very deep burns into the skin and muscles of the victims exposed to it. Doctors who were treating civilians wounded by the white phosphorus found that when they remove bandages applied to a wound that still contained fragments of white phosphorous, smoke would come from the wound since the chemical continues to burn as long as it is in contact with oxygen. Several patients died as a result. The substance is also highly toxic. The injuries and burns caused by phosphorus range between medium and severe as shown in the photos below, depending on where the civilian was when the phosphorus bomb was dropped: the closer, the more exposure to phosphorus, the deeper and more dangerous the wounds are.

More photos of injuries caused by white phosphorus in Gaza ’09 war could be found on this link: http://nevercastleadagain.wordpress.com/2010/12/23/the-wounded/

The extreme scarcity of medical supplies and medics due to the ongoing military campaigns and siege imposed on most of the cities and suburbs across Syria blatantly foreshadows an utter tragedy and for-life maims and mutilation caused to civilians who will be subjected to phosphorus bombs dropped by the regime’s warplanes and helicopters on residential areas.

Obama continues to act with complete ignorance to all the internationally-prohibited bombs the atrocious Assad regime is using but reiterates his “bold red lines” that must not be crossed: the usage of chemical weapons, as that could directly affect Israel, an outcome the United States will do whatever it can to prevent from occurring. But, up until now, the 45,000 Syrian martyrs who fell and the hundreds of thousands injured by the ongoing military campaigns the regime is waging across Syria using all types of weapons, including the internationally prohibited ones aforementioned and many more, is as normal to Obama as the Israeli wars waged on Gaza strip in 2009 and 2012, all as openly endorsed as can be.

Investor Jeremy Grantham of GMO recently published a startlingly depressing outlook for the future of humanity.

Grantham thinks the number of people on Earth has finally and permanently outstripped the planet’s ability to support us.

Grantham believes that the planet can only sustainably support about 1.5 billion humans, versus the 7 billion on Earth right now (heading to 10-12 billion).

Basically, Grantham thinks most of us are going to starve to death.

Why?

In part because we’re churning through a finite supply of something that is critical to our ability to produce food: Phosphorus.

Phosphorus is a critical ingredient of fertilizer, and there is a finite supply of it. The consensus is that we will hit “peak phosphorus” production within a few decades, after which point our phosphorus supply will inexorably decline. As it declines, we will be unable to feed ourselves. And you know the rest.

Of course, ever since Malthus, a steady stream of doomsayers have predicted a ghastly end to the human population explosion–and, so far, they’ve all been wrong.

So why is a man of Grantham’s intelligence adding his voice to this chorus?

And how real is this threat? Are we all going to starve?

So, why is all this happening now, when the global population has been exploding for two centuries? The answer, in part, is the spectacular growth of China, India, and other massive countries. The resource-usage of these countries is mind-boggling. Here, for example, are Grantham’s estimates of the percentage of world consumption of various resources that are consumed by China alone.
