We all are born photographers arent we? Anyway, these days the trouble doesnt end there, you have to upload the photo somewhere to share it with others. There are loads of image uploading sites on the web. Some of them are really popular and some popular but useless. So, here’s my take on some of them.

Flickr happens to be perhaps the most popular image uploading site. However it does have an uploading limit. So, basically its useful for posting private/family photos, but not for using it as a source for pics on your blog. And of course as with all yahoo services, you need to register to start uploading.

I learnt about a really cool image uploading site today called Imgur, which lets you do a whole lot of stuff apart from letting you upload your pics and it has a really cool interface. No registration is needed to upload. But the problem with it is, your images get deleted if they dont receive a ‘hit’ in 3 months. So basically if you have a huge blog which isnt very popular and you dont go through your really old posts at least once in 3 months, your images get deleted.

Photobucket is good, great options etc. but way too many ads for my liking. I dont feel like using it even for my family pics! You also require a registration to upload.

Finally, Imageshack. I’m sure most of you have used at some point in time, but fact is imageshack is the best we have! You dont need to register to upload images, your images get deleted only when they dont receive a hit at least once in 1 year (pretty reasonable), and if you register, your images dont get deleted at all! Plus, there are loads and loads of options (more for registered users). Registration, as with all these services, is free.

Forgive me Father for I have sinned: it has been 14 days since my last blog post. I could rattle off

Forgive me Father for I have sinned: it has been 14 days since my last blog post. I could rattle off a thousand excuses as to why but actions speak louder than words: which is why I, Lindsay Fultz, hereby challenge myself to a “blog off”! I vow from this day forward, to post one blog per day for the rest of the month and that includes Thanksgiving. So what am I going to blog about? Anything and everything!

I have decided my first blog is going to be about the importance of blogging everyday. Yes, I realize that you may be reading this and wondering “Why on Earth I would take blogging tips from someone that hasn’t blogged in two whole weeks?” Well, the answer is simple: when I need to improve upon something I absorb myself in the problem at hand. By blogging about not being able to blog everyday, I tackled the problem head-on!

1.) Every blog does not need to be your BEST blog. Let go of perfectionism! Blogs are supposed to be conversational and interesting, so write about what interests you, as if you were talking with your best friend. It’s probably best to leave out any profanity, though.
2.) Top 10 lists and “Best of…” posts are a hit for a reason: they are quick and easy to read.
3.) Stop viewing blogging as a chore. Writing is therapy. If what you are putting down on paper helps you, then most likely others will find it useful as well.
4.) When all else fails, get a person to guest blog. It gives your blog a different tone and perspective. Just make sure that person is someone you trust and has something interesting to say.
5.) Live dangerously. Step out of your comfort zone and blog about something you know nothing about. In then end you’ll have learned something new and hopefully educate others in the process.
6.) Create a picture blog. Picture blogs are quick, simple and visually appealing. So next time you’re at a loss for words, hit up your old photo albums, Flickr or Photobucket account, throw a couple captions underneath and voila!
7.) Have a glass of wine. No seriously, have a drink and let the creative juices flow. I wrote “My Take on the 7 Deadly Sins of Social Media Marketing” over a few glasses of wine on a paper towel.

So there you have it, my “Top 7 Ways to Start Blogging Everyday.” Why 7 and not 10?…because I am crunched for time. I have a deadline to meet. Next blog is due first thing tomorrow morning

Last time I mentioned Photobucket. According to these days, the site already has 8,586,710,278 photo

Last time I mentioned Photobucket. According to these days, the site already has 8,586,710,278 photos (that’s a few more hundreds of millions pictures than last week…).

Like you know me already, I’m not a fan of the automatic choice when it comes to sites, and I like to explore the web and find better alternatives. When it comes to photo-sharing websites, I have a few main criteria to decide whether I want to use the site, and how often. The first criterion that Photobucket manages to supply very well is the amount of photos in the site. With more than 8 billion photos (and keeps growing bigger) they can assure me I won’t get board. Another few important measurements are the site options (can you upload the photos and then use them in social-media sites? Can you edit the photos before sharing them? How long can you stay ammoniums and when do you need to subscribe?), and how simple and comfortable to work with.

The best site in that field to my opinion is Flickr. Thanks to the site simplicity, every layman can get wonderful performances.

flickr site

With 8 steps, you can host the pictures online, edit them, organize the photos (that is a really important tool especially if you are photo-addicts and have to immortalize each moment in your life…) and spread them across the web. The site is really comfortable and easy to use- and I highly recommend it.

Another really nice site is Tinypic.com. Although it is less common among surfers, he is very useful. You can view random pictures or most popular, check out what’s new on Twitter or your favorite category (retro, relationships, etc.) and upload your own. Then, you can buy a product with the photo you like (your own or just one that you liked).

After reading Josh Lowensohn’s Newbie’s Guide to Flickr I decided to make a Flickr account for Emeraldbites which is the blog project that Alana and I are doing for class. ”Flickr is a popular photo-sharing and hosting service with advanced and powerful features. It supports an active and engaged community where people share and explore each other’s photos,” Lowensohn introduces. The only photo sharing site that I’ve really used and is familiar with is Photobucket. Before creating a Flickr account, I had to sign up for a Yahoo! account which is okay but I doubt that I’ll be using it. When comparing the features of Flickr and Photobucket, I must say that Flickr is a little more sophisticated. Photobucket offers awesome tools such as the scrapbook and slideshow feature which is great for just putting your pictures for show. Flickr on the other hand makess it so much easier to organize. There are different tagging terms that I was unaware of. I like the “notes” feature which allows users to go beyond just writing a description of the photo but let’s you pinpoint a specific part of the picture and you can label/describe it however you like.

As a ‘newbie’ to the Flickr life, I found the “galleries” feature to be pretty neat. It’s a way to really engage with other Flickr members and their work. With this feature, you are allowed to put up to 18 pictures and present a theme for the photos gathered. This is a great tool to use for marketing and promotion because you can use the tool to bring personality of works other than your own. Posting your own material with tags and labels that other members can search to find easily is great but for others to also see other content your interested in is a plus.

I’m little frustrated with how to use Flickr because I kind of like the slide show option that is available on Photobucket. I feel that having all the photos available as a slide show instead of posting 10 pictures on a post looks cleaner and neater with less clutter. Viewers can just go through the pictures like on a Facebook album. There are still elements from Photobucket that I would like to see on Flickr but I feel that Flickr is the more successful photo sharing site. It covers more ground when it comes to community forums and licenses. These concepts are great but I’m still not sure how much I like Flickr yet. I still have a lot of learning to do on it especially for our blog. I need to explore how to get viewers engaged and involved, but more importantly, to look at our pictures!

What are some ups and downs for using Flickr for business?

Why do you think Flickr concepts and features have made it more successful than other photo sharing sites?

Flickr users: Does anyone know how to create grid thumbs nails like the ones in the article? Or does anyone know if there’s a slideshow feature for photosharing?

The last time I actually went to a photography shop, printed out photos and categorized photos into albums where more than 5 years ago. How about you?

Computers in general and internet in particular became such a big part of our lives, and it is now replacing many out-doors activities. If a few years ago I just stored my pictures on the computer straight from my Digital camera, I could DIE if something would happened to my hard-drive (it will immediately erase a few years of my history), today there are much easier ways to store your pictures without the escort worries.

PHOTOBUCKET is a site that allows you to store your photos on-line. Not only that it saves you precious memory on your computer, you can take a pick on your photos from every computer in the world. The sine-up is free and you get to choose whether to save the photos to your selves or to make it public. You can also upload the photos to social-networks (Facebook, MySpace etc.) directly from the site.

If you are tired with your own photos you can always search for others’. There is a mega-collection of photos categorized by themes. Funny animals? Macro photography? You name it. The total collection includes over 8 billion (yes, it means 8,000,000,000) photos (not getting board is guaranteed). Latly the site added more fun stuff like videos, music category, stickers and photo-editing. However, Photobucket is not the only site that offers that service, so for the next post I will make a top-5 list of the best photo-hosting site.

A bill that is as much as the cost of a new phone, capable of snapping a bunch of cheap-looking photos. The sad thing is: my collection of pictures taken during my travels through London are best viewed on a mobile device, not a computer.

That said, if unlimited data packages allow you to surf sites like DJTREATS.COM when you’re on-the-go, then these 20 pics are for you. Below are the captured moments of Jack Penate heating up the Fridge’s dancefloor, followed by the aftermath of empty cups left behind; my visit to Diesel:U:Music’s Dalston headquarters, where I broadcasted live; took shots of London’s double-decker bus, toffee cookies, a lighter, a DJ sticker in a bathroom stall, doodles on the wall of the YoYo club, and a note written on a slice of wheat bread (part of random acts of nonsense when on tour).

I know this is a too late but I still want to include this as one of my entries…

The Style Icon Awards Seoul 2009 (held on November 11) is an award giving body where people get the chance to vote for their bets through mobile and online voting… Since the poll started on the first day of October, it attracted lots of viewers and made the fans vote for their favorite idol…

Kim Hyun Joong, Lee Min Ho, Super Junior and then G-Dragon

Whose topping the poll:

Kim Hyun Joong

Lee MinHo

Super Junior (our very own… ;p)

GDragon

Lee Seung Gi

SS501

Goo Hye Sun

So Nyeo Shi Dae

Brown Eyed Girls

2PM

And as it ended, the final poll showed… (drum roll please ;p)

Super Junior on second place

Kim Hyun Joong

Super Junior (yipee!!!)

Lee Min Ho

GDragon

SS501

Lee Seung Gi

Goo Hye Sun

So Nyeo Shi Dae/ SNSD

Brown Eyed Girls

2PM

Here are the four main leads

The top placer Kim Hyun Joong from the Boys Over Flowers surpassed our Super Junior at second place, with Lee Min Ho (also from Boys Over Flowers) at the 3rd position and G-dragon landing at 4th…

But that won’t change anything… Although we (their fans) weren’t able to push SUJU at the top spot, they still retain and will always be the no.1 in our hearts… yeah!!! ;p

2nd place at the award, 1st place in my heart

“Sorry Sorry” not because their 2nd placer… (i just love the image, and TOP at the chart, bwahaha ;p)

[now see, I would've posted a photo, but I'd rather not get sued for libel or promoting child pornog

[now see, I would've posted a photo, but I'd rather not get sued for libel or promoting child pornography, because that shit is nasty and anyone who does it should be shot on sight.]

I don’t think I need to explain it. On every social networking site, there exists a gaggle of young women that insist on posing half-nekkid in front of a mirror just because they can. This is known as the “Prerequisite Underwear Shot,” and is necessary for entrance into the hearts and pr0n bins of men everywhere. I mean, really, ya’ll? Save some mystery for the guys. Do you really need to validate yourselves so much that you’ll let some random sketch-ball ogle your body? Now, I know that there are people that are just comfortable in their own skin; they’re cool. But, at the same time–shit, I don’t know. I would beat my daughter’s ass three ways from Sunday if I saw her exposing her goodies on Myspace at 16–and I’m not even for corporal punishment. All I’m saying is that young women should have more respect for themselves (you can’t expect anyone to treat you like a queen if you carry yourself like a ho), and parents should control their children a bit more to keep shit like this off the internet. Because there’s nothing worse than finding your 17 year old daughter on “Amateur Pussy Dump” because some pervo jacked her photos from Facebook or somewhere.
