Keri and I went to Disney World (Orlando) for our honeymoon in April of this year. It was a blast, and as is typical, I took 8 gigs of photos while we were there just to let them sit on a memory card until a couple days ago! It was great to finally look at the pictures again, but then came the realization that I took a LOT of pictures. I tend to get snap happy looking for that perfect shot, so I had a lot of photos of the same type of scene in sequences. Good thing for digital, I would be broke if I shot actual film. Or maybe I’d be a better photographer with less mistakes!

I wanted to go though and select the good ones to post here, and I will eventually, but with holidays and work, I just don’t see it happening anytime soon. So I did the next best thing, I imported all the untouched-up photos into iMovie and may a high-speed slide-show! Because I neurotically snapped multiple photos of similar scenes (especially fireworks), the slide show ends up looking very much like an old 8mm movie and many places. The effect is pretty cool, so I decided to run with it.

Before you watch the movie, keep in mind my iMovie and general film skills are non-existant. I wish I could have pulled off the old movie effect with a little more clarity, but c’est la vie. Also YouTube’s compression doesn’t help the clarity either.

You can watch the movie below or click here for a higher quality version.

I am a restless person on occasion and tonight is a night that I would like to find sleep. I decide

I am a restless person on occasion and tonight is a night that I would like to find sleep. I decided to stay in, avoid going out. Not spend any money and just enjoy being at home. So now at a nice one o’clock AM I am still up and posting again. This time I take from an amazing friend of mine, Michelle Slifcak. She recently visited Savannah and took many pictures. I would like to share some of her photography here for others to see. So lets us begin:

This is me, driving my car. This is a traditional image that has been repeated in now two different vehicles on many occasions.

She visited the campus that I attend school at and during our walk took some pictures. This one of some people doing artwork on the sidewalk in chalk.

The idea was to have a relaxing vacation like time.

These are some of my favorite shoes actually.

This was not to easy to accomplish. It took some work and more work and lots of pictures.

The Savannah area has some wonderful shops and some excellent images comes from them.

This is a great camera. I’ve been shooting with point-and-shoots for years, opting for the Canon Digital Elph line of cameras. The limitations of the point-and-shoots in action sequences, low light, or difficult lighting became too frustrating, so I finally made the plunge and bought a D-90. The camera is beautifully capable of handing all the situations I find myself in, for example hiking, at parties, cycling, and for portraits. The ability to shoot at 4.5 fps, take photos in low light, and adjust any function on the fly to try different approaches have made my experience of photography much more gratifying.Buy Nikon D90 Price Lowest Price, Order Now! [Click Here!]

The same Netbook on Dell sells for $499, November 27, 2009
For the jaded reviewer who said that you can get this for $279 on Dell’s website… that one has the old Windows XP (this is two generations ahead with Windows 7), 3-cell battery (this is 6 cell, twice the battery life), has a slower Graphics Card, and does not have a TV-tuner for viewing HDTV!!! The netbook that matches this on Dell’s website is priced at $499! For $299, this was a fantastic deal! see more Dell Inspiron Mini 10 from Amazon

Being in and around the music industry I have heard a lot of stories about artists. One that has stuck with me over the years though is about the legendary James Brown. Apparently he was so particular about his music that he would dish out fines for mistakes made by his band members. On one occasion it is said that when his bass player missed a note, Mr. Brown hollered… “Bassman 25″… and never missed a beat. 25 bucks a pop is pretty good incentive to play the right notes! I don’t know if the story is true or not but I have used that line many times as a joke in bands I’ve been in. (Bass players usually don’t find it amusing… haha.)

And speaking of bass players… I had a session with a local bass player this week. New promo shots were in order and I was privileged to be called on by this great player.

So, I’m going a little out of order here. In between David Crowder and Switchfoot was the Point of Grace/Mark Schultz show, and there will be an image posted from that show in due time. But I finished with Switchfoot’s set tonight and decided it wouldn’t hurt to go ahead and post one of my favorites from the night. This is Jon and Tim Foreman, lead singer and bass player, respectively, for Switchfoot. They played a ridiculously great show in Atlanta Tuesday night and I was fortunate enough to have a press pass for it. I’ll be posting a review to Titletrakk.com as soon as my little fingers can type it out, but for now you can enjoy the pictures by going here And if you have a chance to see Switchfoot on their Hello Hurricane tour, do so. You won’t regret it! Tour dates are posted on their website here

Kaya Christian, Miss November 1967, was previously a diving and backstroke champ, then a water ballerina, and finally was certified as a SCUBA instructor just before this issue of Playboy went to print. I guess what I’m saying is, she’s in to watersports.

Photographed by Bill Figge and Ed DeLong

You know what I’ve noticed? It seems like the more vintage the playmate, the more the chance you will find a few butt shots. I don’t just mean shots where there is a naked hind end in the picture, I mean ones where the whole composition is framed around it; where it is solely the focal point, like you don’t even see boobs or anything else, practically.

It just seems like if a playmate is from the mid-60’s to late 70’s, you are practically guaranteed at least one photograph of the model looking over her shoulder or in profile with her ass aimed at the camera. Playboy has really went the boob-focused route since the 80’s and 90’s, all the way to the early 2000’s, and it seems it has been done at the price of the derriere. Sometimes the back side can be the best side, guys. It is now retro to have just-buns-pics in nudie spreads. Write that down.

A California native who spent her childhood in Georgia, Kaya enjoyed painting and music (so far, so good), late nights/early mornings (still solid), and listed as her idea of a good meal “shellfish and milkshakes.” Screeeee. What the unholy fuck?! Get out of the car, Ms. Christian. You’re walking. That’s easily the grossest thing I’ve heard all week, and most of my countrymen cooked a bird carcass in the last two days (the nasty phrases and descriptions that get bandied about when the subject is poultry roasting truly revolt me).

One of her turn-offs was “draft-card burners.” Oh, my. Sounds like the little swimming, naked girl has her some political opinions, enough so to list that in Playboy. Why don’t you go hoark down a bucket of oysters and a strawberry shake, sister, and save the sanctimonious shit for a rag that ain’t built on skin? Nobody cares if you uphold traditional family values (not to mention that the issue of the appropriateness of a draft for the Vietnam War was never, ever, except in the cheapest of rhetoric, about patriotism and being a good or a bad person).

This is what I was trying to point out in the last post, when I talked about Donna Edmondson and what she went through after admitting to being a virgin. The whole socio-religious-politics and porn thing just don’t mix. They don’t have to. I just think that if you try, you’re missing the point. It’s Playboy, honey. It’s not a pageant.

This is an example of a legit super-clever cover. See how her hips and ass form the bunny’s head and the straps that snake around the open back make his ears? Very nicely done. Another Beth Hyatt/Pompeo Posar pairing.

Weirdly, they talk about her work as
…laboring in the catacombish darkness of one of the West Coast’s largest photo-processing labs.

Thoughts on that? She talks about going to Catalina, so she’s in So-Cal. What’s down in the LA area in the way of Kodak-Eastman, etc? Because I could not at all place that reference.

Student-athletes are usually measured by their stats in a game, but rarely are they honored for their grades.

Recently, K-State’s junior outside hitter JuliAnne Chisholm was recognized for her efforts on the court and in the classroom by being selected to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America Volleyball Team. She is the fourth Academic All-American volleyball player in K-State history.

Chisholm holds a perfect 4.0 GPA in athletic training and pre-medicine while leading the K-State volleyball team in kills per set this season. A few months ago, she was named to both the Academic All-Big 12 First Team and Academic All-District First Team making her eligible for the All-America Team. She is one of two Big 12 student-athletes named to this year’s ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America Volleyball Team along with Nebraska’s Kori Cooper.

Happy Thanksgiving! It has been a very relaxing and yet eventful past few days. Hubbie and I have escaped the city as of earlier this week, and have enjoyed some fresh mountain air. Along with a couple of personal friends who joined us, we had a huge turkey feast on Thursday with his family and gave thanks to not only each other, but those we could not be with on that day.

I also had some time to shoot some new labels I created for Crooked Keg. Their brand-new Scarecrow II Pumpkin Ale was a huge hit among the guests up here, and was quickly gone before the day was out.

Oh, and I have to mention that the fresh mountain air must be the remedy for the common cold or bronchitis. Mom joked that the ill used to be sent to the mountains for any respiratory illness… and she might be right. For those concerned, I am feeling 100% better than I have been the past two weeks! We went on a short hike today up Mayflower Gulch (12,415 ft) just south of Copper Mountain, and had nothing but clear lungs, blue skies and beautiful weather.

I have so much to be thankful for, and I wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving.

I keep a gratitude journal and update it almost daily. It wouldn’t be hard for me to list out the things I am thankful for. But let’s give it a try, anyways.

I’m thankful for the family I was born into. The closest relatives I have in Houston is my mom’s first cousin, Tita Edith’s, family. Tita Edith’s kids, Anthony, Joanne, and Gino, are the cousins I grew up with and the cousins I will be connected to in the future. They’re pretty awesome human beings. Seeing them this past Thanksgiving was amazing and I’m thankful for them. We don’t see each other a lot, but I’m trying to change that and become more involved.

I’m thankful for the family I chose. I was able to see my great friend Chloe. Her mom and step dad were Mr. and Mrs. Clause for the Uptown Park Lighting Festival. Her husband, Chris, couldn’t go, because he recently had surgery on his collar bone and going through crowds wouldn’t have been smart. Chloe’s great Uncle George couldn’t go either, because of the crowds, as well. He has a walker and it would have been hard to navigate through the crowd. So Chloe invited me. I hadn’t seen her in awhile, since school has been taking up my life. And it was awesome to see her. She is one of the nursing school friends I am working hard to keep.

At the VIP section in front of Maggianos having appetizers. yum!

The fireworks after the Christmas trees were lit. Absolutely beautiful!!

Afterwards, I spent the night at Jackie’s. Her family was having a late Thanksgiving dinner. Jackie has a sister, Eva, who I love dearly. She is the type of person who has such an open heart. She knows that I am important to Jackie and has welcomed me in their family whole heartedly. Jackie’s mom and dad have made me feel welcome as well. I’m glad I was able to spend time with them, too.

I had a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. I had more than enough shares of turkey! And got to spend time with loved ones. The only time I spent alone was when I was driving.

I got my replacement phone today. It didn’t come with a SIM card, which defeated the purpose of getting my phone, but I just bought one at the TMobile store. I was able to get ahold of my loved ones through Google Voice. I had this phone number for my side business as a photographer. But it came in handy because I was able to text and make calls through the internet. If anyone needed to get ahold of me, they could text my Google Voice number and all the texts would go straight to my email. Pretty cool!

My great friend Lizzie’s wedding is tomorrow and I cannot wait to celebrate her and Nelson’s union. I asked many people to keep Lizzie and her baby in their prayers. And with the grace of God, she and her baby girl are doing well and are healthy! If that isn’t something to be thankful for, I don’t know what is.

When I woke up this morning, the first thing I saw was this angel’s face.
And having her in my life is absolutely a great blessing that I thank God for everyday. She has changed me in ways I could not fathom. I hope the start of the holiday season has treated you well.

Less than 4 days away from being done! Yet still so far away…

Before Weathervane begins the first of many all-nighters to be pulled over the next few days, I will revel in this moment of deep satisfaction and a bit of nostalgia as I look back on the whirlwind of events that has made up “All the Pretty Snakes… (& Bellydancers)”. Today I spent at least 4 hours creating more videos from shoots that took place some time ago… We’re aware there was quite a lull in videos for a while there and our excuse is that we went on a business trip to Chicago and then came back to more shooting (with no time to spare in-between). You forgive us right? Well without any further delay…. we present Jessica and Sherri!

The title says it all. Very easy to use from the moment you unpack it. Get a lens UV filter/protector and a LCD screen protector (the GGS DSLR LCD Optical Glass Screen Protector for Nikon D90 works great for me – I coulnd’t find a 3″ LCD screen protector for the D3000) . Protect your precious investment. Go out there and enjoy the wonderful colors. Trash that point-and-shoot camera already!
