Blogs about: Photos

There’s the written word — complex, eloquent, but yet, somehow lacking. Then there’s the photo. In the mere nano-seconds it takes to view one photo, you’ve got the equivalent of 1,000 words, or so they say. Amazing, no? So is it any wonder that web users ’round the world are sharing their lives via photos? It’s a beautiful, beautiful thing.

Diaper Dog
Cute and Funny Pet Photos

Our dog, “Bodie” is a sweet natured and loveable fellow – but he has a bad habit of lifting his leg around the house.  After years of frustration and absolutely no success in breaking him of this, we discovered doggie diapers.  They are perfect!  Bodie now has free run of the house (which he loves!) and we don’t have wet socks!  Now – if they only made something like this for cats!

Lessons and Thoughts of a Christian Scrapbooker

FedEx finally  made it yesterday about 2PM and I was thrilled to say the least! I managed to actually sit down before ripping the package open, much like a kid on Christmas morning! I took my new camera out of the box, put in the battery – praying that it had enough of a charge for me to at least turn my new toy on – and took my first picture, of my sleepy grandson on the couch! Then my wonderful friend and I left to go enjoy an evening of fellowship, dinner, and shopping for supplies for my upcoming scrap class!! After getting home late last night and not sleeping much, (I think I was just anxious to play with my new camera!), I was up and at ‘em before dawn this morning so I had to wait for daylight! As soon as I could get outside and see where I was stepping, I was out and snapping! Waiting for my dear hummingbirds come to the feeder, (I need to practice photographing that fast little buggers!), hoping my squirrels would come out to play, and just looking for anyth

This Week at the Heron Rookery
Snapshots

At the local heron rookery the chicks are growing at a phenomenal rate. How three or four chicks manage to stay in their nests without pushing their siblings out is a mystery to me. It is increasingly difficult to approach the rookery through the tall grasses. Much of the grass is now five feet tall. All of it is hip high. We have had lots of rain during the past week here in southeastern Wisconsin, so these wetlands are living up to their name. Because of terrific thunderstorms and high winds, I’m pretty sure that at least one of the nests was destroyed. Here are three of the photos taken this past week. As you can see, the chicks are starting to look like adults with bad hair. Two Chicks in a Crowded Nest Two Chicks The following image of a solitary adult keeping watch over the nest poses a question. I watched this bird for an hour, but I never spotted a chick in the nest. In the other fifteen to twenty nests that I could see there were lots of chicks clearly visible. I’m

Summary of What I Did Today

My first gig’s done. This time I was a PhotoG. Asked by my uncle to snap some shots of his gallery while some people are enjoying their coffees while talking about life (it made me feel like I’m a nosy gossiper but that’s alright).  Below are some of the shots I’ve taken So this is the name of the Gallery. I’m trying to show the gallery in this picture. And the people too! Here’s one of the paintings, this one caught my eye the most. And here’s what I did later. Abusing the shutter is always fun! So that’s about it. I can’t upload the whole bunch of snaps yet, maybe later or maybe not at all. And if ever you’re waiting for Gig #2, you better be patient. For the mean time, I’ll be busy learning about SEO to increase traffic to my websites. Btw, here are some of ‘em I got my main website: MILEYE* I got a directory website: PageBoost 2.0 I got a blog too (other than this). Photoblog And another one!: My Scrap Box If y

Wilfredo Prieto – Cuba
coufme

Wilfredo Prieto was born in 1978 (Sancti Spíritus; Cuba). He is linked to conceptual art. He moved to Havana to pursue his art studies at the famed Higher Institute of Fine Arts (ISA), graduating in 2002. He has a university diploma as a painter but he has not painted anything for the last 10 years. He admires the conceptualist Marcel Duchamp but tries to distance himself from any traditional way of making art and also tries to stay free of any particular historical or cultural, considerations that could avoid his creativity. Habana is certainly a significant point of reference and a very important focus for him. His medium keeps changing, it depends on the particular idea or the concept he is working on and he never gets attached to any way of working. Most of the time, the missing elements in Prieto’s work are obvious. In fact, in 2001, he did his most widely known work “Apolítico” with 30 flagpoles stripped of their familiar colours. This show has been shown in Ireland, Italy and Fr

Seashell Cosmo
iPhone Photographer

I bought a bunch of flowers a few weeks ago for my moms garden as a mothers day gift. Its better than buying cut flowers right? You get way more flowers for a much more reasonable price. I grabbed a 6 pack of the biggest cosmos, but it turns out they are the seashell variety….oops. Still cool looking though. Shot with Camera+ and edited with Snapseed (still free!)   Before I end this short post,I have to thank Heather (bitsnbooks) for being so sweet and giving both my blogs the reader appreciation award. I’ll make a proper post on my other blog later

Singapore in Pictures

Inside the National Museum Fell in love with William Farquhar’s natural history art series History lesson: during WWII, the British thought that the Japanese would attack Singapore by sea, so they poised their cannons towards the water. Little did they know that the Japanese Imperial Army were to take them over and invade Singapore by land on bicycles… Bead embroidery at the Peranaken Museum Famed briyani from Allauddin’s at Tekka Centre in Little India Colors of Little India National Library Night scene outside Lau Pa Sat Hawker Center Night One of my favorites. 4th Perivale Scouts Jubilee event, Stockdove Way
Greenford 365

This is the sort of event that sums up the term “community spirit”. There was a fantastic friendly atmosphere and everyone seemed to be pulling together to make it a success. Traditional pie and mash was served in a specially decorated room. This scout group is quite a small one, just Beavers and Cubs as yet, but today it has raised some money to allow improvements to the lodge. Occasions like this take a lot of hard work and it is good to see that people are still prepared to give their time in this way. Click here for a closer look at a great collection of Scout badges and here for more information about Greenford and District Scouts.
