Amidst all that belly-aching about shortages or conspicuous scarcity or dearths of client work, I did manage to make some email templates (my first ever) for Scout Force lately.  More specifically, for the Michigan State University and Central Michigan University baseball teams.  Sparties… Chips… cold shiver.

In other news, I have upgraded to Windows 7 with relative success.  In a related note, I also deleted all my firefox bookmarks.  Moreover, all my photoshop brushes were destroyed as well.   These events then conspired to fool me into thinking that all these things ought be replaced at once, and to such ends I have spent the last two hours downloading and browsing and browsing and downloading things with names like Free 49 Ultra Butt Grunge Demon Swirl Rust Splatter Brushes CS3+ Super Pack!

Over the years I’ve stumbled across some fantastic resources that have turned some pretty lame projects into some cool looking pieces of art. So, here’s a comprehensive list:

DeviantArt Photoshop Actions - Here you can look at and download photoshop actions which save an enormous amount of time for you. Download the action, open it in photoshop, open the picture you want to edit, and then hit play on the action. Sort it by popularity of all time, or the most recent additions. Some cool ones include a Polaroid effect and an old photo effect.

DeviantArt Photoshop Brushes - If you don’t have much experience with photoshop, these may seem a bit lame, but once you’ve gone through a few tutorials, you’ll realize that they’re invaluable. Just like the actions, there is a comprehensive list of photoshop brushes which you can download and install into photoshop.

Texture King – A great collection of free textures which are great for grunge tutorials and images.

Mayang’s Free Texture Library – Another great collection of free textures and images.

Google Advanced Image Search – Use google’s image search and change the usage rights option. You can then legally alter and reproduce the images that come up in the search depending on which option you choose.

PSD Session is a new photoshop and design tutorial blog run by professional photographer and designer Paul Pichugin. Paul has been a photoshop user for over 13 years since version 3 and uses it on a daily basis both from a Graphic / Web Designer point of view as well as a photographers. PSD Session is going to be mostly articles and tutorials based around photoshop and design in general, possibly some ideas on coding, freelancing and other related topics. All of the tutorials featured on PSDSession are original and written by professional users of photoshop, each tutorial outlines, step-by-step, how to complete the given project, showing how to create certain effects, as well as including short cuts and tips along the way.
