After countless frames & goosebumps, Jaimie & i finished the shoot this weekend. these are from the 50’s swimwear section, & i’ll be adding the other sections in individual posts to come.

& this one was inspired by Marilyn’s sweater photos, although the coloring makes it look more like it was inspired by Twilight.

I wanted to use my photoshop today…so I took a picture of something I knew I could do just that with!

En riktigt innedag då det varit regn och rusk utanför knutarna. Blev lite träning vid 16-tiden, sedan var det bara soffan hela dagen.

Il y a quelques années, je suis parti avec deux surfeurs espagnols pour un reportage dans la Baja California qui recoit parmi les plus belles vagues au monde. Après un long trajet, nous trouvons enfin la route du spot que nous cherchions. Nous n’avions plus beaucoup de nourriture avec nous et pensions que le spot n’était pas très loin. Mal nous en a pris car il se trouvait à presque trente kilomètres d’une route défoncée. A notre arrivée, plus question de faire demi tour pour les provisions et nous avons décidé d’aller voir les pêcheurs qui habitaient un petit village sur la gauche du spot. Nous sommes tombés sur des gens absolument fantastiques et d’une hospitalité incroyable. Après nous avoir offert le petit déjeuner, ils nous ont avoués que les surfeurs américains qui venaient régulièrement sur le spot les ignoraient totalement. Ils se sont pris de sympathie pour nous et au bout de quelques jours ont même organisé une méga fiesta pour mon anniversaire. Ils sont partis faire le plein de poisson pour le diner pendant que les autres partaient au village chercher leurs femmes dont ils étaient séparés depuis quelques semaines, de la bière et bien sur la téquila. Ils ont même ramené un feu d’artifice. Nous nous sommes retrouvés une quarantaine après avoir invité les surfeurs américains pour une nuit fabuleuse. A notre départ quelques jours plus tard, le lien était établi entre les américains et les mexicains. Je garde encore aujourd’hui tous les détails de cette fête en mémoire. Dans l’espoir d’y retourner un jour ou l’autre. Voici un portrait de Guadaloupé, le chef du village et le responsable de toute cette organisation.

Its about converting your images to black and white using the channel mixer in Photoshop.

Belly up to the bar my friends. Actually, a few years ago when we stopped, you could still do that, albeit carefully (check out the photos at the end of this posting from 2007 here). All the cool old retro stools, rugs, counters, etc have been stripped by idiots taking a lot more than photos. If you’re traveling on 395 between Olancha and Lone Pine, check it out before it’s gone completely.

This is an HDR photo, finished off with a little Lucis filter for added punch.

We had a small dinner with Myself, Melissa, Mick and Kathy for her birthday at Red Robbin. I snapped a quick shot in the waiting area while we were waiting to be seated.

Second in my series of people photography!!  Now, I know I said that the Mexico series was done with, but, surprise!  More Puerto Morelos pics!  Were these strategically saved for this series or did I just forget to put them with the other series?  You’ll never know.  Anyhoo, its fun to photograph kids doing their kid-ly things.  They always seem so completely absorbed in what they are doing and bring such a fun, carefree-because-they-don’t-have-bills-to-pay  feeling to the photo.  I find that looking at pictures like this always makes me remember how much I liked to do (blank) when I was (blank) years old, long before medical school sort of owned my soul.   

So, this boy and girl were playing in the sand on the shore by the Puerto Morelos pier in Puerto Morelos, Mexico.  They are in front of the original lighthouse that was transformed into the Leaning Lighthouse of Puerto by Hurricane Wilma.  Since it’s more or less non-functional now, there is a new lighthouse a bit further back from the shore.  It is much taller and, personally, if I were a sailor, I’d be glad Wilma killed the old short lighthouse so that I could guide myself home with the more modern upgraded model.

The photo was taken with the Canon Powershot G7.  I used Adobe Photoshop CS3 to adjust the contrast a bit and to bring out the slightly sepia tones in the picture to help create a more nostalgic feel and to highlight the angle of the sun.

If you’ve got Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, here’s an easy way to trim ten pounds off your photos.

1. Open the file.
2. Ctrl J to create a new layer to work on.
3. 3. In that new layer – Ctrl T to bring up the Transform tool.
4. 4. Alt-Ctrl the right center transform box and you can make yourself as skinny as you want. Probably anything more than 90% will look unnatural.
5. Get rid of the background layer and save your new lower weight self.

I drew my orchids using Photoshop and it  has taken me about 3 hours, i love creating designs through Photoshop as i feel my work now has a very commercial look to it.

Just last night, I uploaded my custom banner at the top of this blog. I wanted to use something other than the stock photo that was originally here, but something that I felt looked good. I wanted something original. So, I took some pictures of my face, played around with them in photoshop, and the outcome is what you see at the top of the screen. This is the reason why I chose this format for the blog. I wanted to be able to have something in it that makes it different from another blog that might use the same theme. It shows that it’s mine, and it’s the best I can do with WordPress online (I’d download WordPress, but I would need a host, and I am currently saving up my money for more important things I am going to need soon).

And, yes, the glasses I am wearing are the ones from Sears.

Sunday what a sunday, the wind is howling and the rain is coming down in sheets, so happy to b e indoors and in the warm.  From my window I can see people walking their dogs on the common, looking miserable and wet, not the dogs though they dont seem to mind.  I decided I would like to try some new painting effects with Photoshop, and here it is.

Using an image of my daughter Kirsty and her partner Yao I used a paint brush made of their names, some masks and hey presto.  Actually it was a piece of cake because I followed a tutorial on adobe !  click here to access.

I love photoshop, but there is much to learn and it does seem overwhelming at times,however playing with all the filters, paint brushes etc and making something pleasing is very satisfying.
