When you want to buy a computer, so you figure the Internet is the best place to look. You get on Al

When you want to buy a computer, so you figure the Internet is the best place to look. You get on Alta Vista, Google, or Bing and type “computers” in the text box. It comes back and tells you that it has found about nearly one billion pages (at Google) matching your query terms. You try another tactic – you type in “I want to buy a computer”. More than 16 million pages this time.

Frustrated ??, you try one more time – you type in “computer shopping”. Alta Vista happily tells you there are 700,000 pages matching your request. and google tell you there are 928,000 pages. The first listing is indeed about shopping for computers – and the rest on the page refer to on-line malls.

If you’ve done any amount of Web searching, you’ve undoubtedly run into this same problem of too much information. This tutorial will you by showing you how these Web Databases work, how you can more efficiently search them, and how to select the best Web Database.

A web database is an organized listing of web pages. It’s like the card catalog that you might find in the library. The database holds a “surrogate” (or selected pieces like the title, the headings, etc.) for each web page. The creation of these surrogates is called “indexing”, and each web database does it in a different way. Web databases hold surrogates for anywhere from 1 million to several billion web pages. The program also has a search interface, which is the box you type words into (like in Alta Vista or Google) or the lists of directories you pick from (like in Yahoo). Thus, each web database has a different indexing method and a different search interface.

Methods of Indexing

There are two important methods of indexing used in web database creation – full-text and human.

Full-Text Indexing

As its name implies, full-text indexing is where every word on the page is put into a database for searching. Alta Vista and Google are examples of full-text databases. Full-text indexing will help you find every examples of a reference to a specific name or terminology. However, a general topic search will not be very useful in these database, and you will have to dig through a lot of “false drops” (or returned pages that have nothing to do with your search).

Human Indexing

Yahoo and some of Magellan are two of the few examples of human indexing. In the above two indexing, all of the work was done by a computer program called a “spider” or a “robot”. In human indexing, a person examines the page and determines a very few key phrases that describe it. This allows for the user to find a good start of works on a topic – assuming that the topic was picked by the human as something that describes the page. This is how the directory-based web databases are developed.

Spiders, Robots, or People

How do the web databases select which pages are indexed? As there is no centralized Internet computer, there’s no one place where these services can learn about new pages. Thus, many services use automated programs called “spiders” or “robots” that travel from site to site, looking for new WWW pages. Some spiders only go to the “What’s New” or the “What’s Hot” pages and use those for indexing the “popular” sites. Others methodically examine every link leading from a page, and every link leading from that page, and so on… In some cases, people examine the pages brought back from these programs, and don’t index the pages that don’t meet certain criteria. So, these tools create three classes of web databases – those that look at all WWW pages, those that examine popular WWW pages, and those that examine quality web pages.

Search Engines versus Pick Lists

Now that the web database has a group of pages indexed in their database, how does the user access it. This is through one of two methods – a search engine or a directory (otherwise known as a pick list). A search engine allows the user to type in any terminology he wishes, and will search the database to find those web pages that match the terms entered. A directory structure has pages organized by subject (like the Yellow Pages), and can then be navigated by selecting things off the directory. The directory structure usually allows a good starting point for a search, assuming that the topic you desire has been selected as a directory entry.

One thing not to get confused about – Yahoo has both a search engine and a directory tree. Instead of searching the pages, however, the search engine just looks through the directory at Yahoo. It can be used as a quick way to find the area of the directory with the information you desire.

Presentation of Results

You’ve entered in your search terms, the computer has matched them to the indexed database, and you are given a list of results. There are two important concepts here – Relevancy ranking and Abstracts

Relevancy Ranking

The documents are almost always listed in order by relevance. Based upon your search request, the computer ranks all of the documents that contain your search term, and lists the ones that it thinks are most relevant first. That is why you really shouldn’t worry about the fact that there are 17 gajillion pages matching your query term. All you care about are the first 20 – 40. The better your search terms, the better ranked the pages will be (and the less work you will have to do).

Abstracts

If there are pages listed that say nothing in the listing about your search topic, you may wonder how they got there. The second important concept to realize is that the abstract presented to you is usually not the same as the database entry used by the computer to search. The abstract is much shorter than the database entry, and this can lead to frustration because you then have to load up the actual page to see why the search program feels this page is relevant to your search.

Backing up your Joomla database is important. Why, you ask? Well, for the simple reason

Backing up your Joomla database is important. Why, you ask? Well, for the simple reason that the database is the most important part of your website. Templates can be re-installed, just like plug-ins, modules and components. But without your database, you’re doomed. It contains all articles, and anything Joomla related that was created over time. Users, Newsletters, forum posts, links, menu item… If you don’t have a back-up of your database to fall back on when you run into problems, you probably have to start all over.

That’s why it’s important to back-up your Joomla database. There might be “Joomla” ways to do this, but I’ve always preferred to do this manually. To back-up your Joomla database, you’ll need to use a tool which allows you to access / manage your MySQL databases – whether they’re stored on a local machine or on the server of your hosting company. Below, you’ll find two tools that I regularly use to get the job done.

1. PHPMyadmin: Used so often, that it’s considered to be a “standard” by many. This tool is mainly used to manage databases; and might already be installed on your server. By using the export function of this tool, you’ll get the SQL code you need to rebuild your database later on. Downside: You’ve got to paste it in notepad / your editor of choice and save it yourself.

2. PHPMybackuppro: This free tool has one goal: to allow you to back-up your databases in a simple way. It offers many options, like mailing the back-ups or FTP’ing them to a remote location. The big advantage of this tool is that, once it’s configured, making a back-up is as simple as pressing the “back up” button”. Or, if you’ve managed to schedule back-ups, you don’t even have to do a thing.

With these two tools, you should be able to do the job. In a future post, I’ll summarize how to make a back-up with PHPMyadmin.

I worked 20 hours straight to prepare an old Gateway tower with 280 gig drive for an Ubuntu 9.10 ins

I worked 20 hours straight to prepare an old Gateway tower with 280 gig drive for an Ubuntu 9.10 install. The Gateway was hopelessly unbootable in Windows because of some operating system problem (not hardware problem). I realized that I should drop down to C: and type format, to just reformat the entire drive which took about 30 minutes. I forgot that I should have typed FDISK first, to set up the necessary partitions, but it was too late.

I downloaded an ISO image for GNOME partition and burned it to a bootable CD.

I booted the GNOME partition utility. It took me literally hours to guess at what I should do.

Finally I realized that Ubuntu expects THREE partitions. The first is referred to as ROOT but the actual name you give it in the partition process is simpl “/” (forward slash omitting the double quotes).

The second partition will have NO name, but you will designate its format TYPE as swapfile, and that will become the system swap file.
The third partition is called /home.

I had no idea how much space to allocate, so I gave 512 for root and 512 for swap, and the huge remainder for /home.

The software warned me that root and swap were too small. Just for the heck of it, I changed root and swap to 5000, and it worked.

Then it took me dozens of tries installing Ubuntu. I had a 2008 Ubuntu disc and a 9.10 disc I had created last week. Time after time, I would boot from each one, say INSTALL UBUNTU, and it would chug away for a long time, and then die with no messages. FINALLY, but why or how I dont know, the 9.10 unstall brought up an Ubuntu desktop with what looked like all kinds of error messages. There were TWO icons on the desktop which I had never seen before. One said EXAMPLES which I never looked at. I was about to give up in dispair when I decided to click on the icon marked Ubuntu. AS IT TURNS OUT, that is the icon which COMPLETES the install process, and it first brings you into its OWN partition software. I cant exactly remember what I did next. I do remember that GNOME partition utility offered me literally 20 DIFFERENT format types to choose from for each partition (one of which is swap-file). I had no clue what to choose. I did some google searching on my other machine (and you NEED a windows machine attached to the internet to look these things up). I discovered that format type ext3 is good for Debian Linux (and Ubuntu is a flavor of Debian) so I went with ext3.

Finally, I had a working bootable pure Ubuntu 9.10 machine.

My next Sisyphean agony task was to connect it to the Internet. The tower already had an Ethernet card. I was informed that IF I connected a cable from the ethernet to the router, then Ubuntu would automatically sense the ethernet connection and configure it. The ethernet board DID light up and pulse when I connected the cable to my Westell router. But Ubuntu never recognized it. Later I read that only certain ethernet cards will be automatically recognized, so I guess the one in my tower was not a compatible one. My next choice was to try and get my Belkin USB WiFi adapter working. I went to ADMINISTRATION -> SYNAPTIC PACKAGE MANAGER and keyed ndiswrapper into the search. I was prompted to place the Ubuntu install cd into my drive. It kept giving me errors. I placed my Belkin adapter install cd in the drive and looked around for the ini driver file, but could not see it. Finally, out of despair, I plugged the Belkin wifi adapter into the USB and LIKE MAGIC Ubuntu recognized it, asked me to choose a connection and enter the WEP key, which I have now done many times with other machines and during the Wubi Ubuntu install on Windows. So now I had a working Ubuntu machine connected to the Internet.

I went to J&R computer store up the street and found a $10 USB 4 gig memory stick by http://www.dane-elec.com which is REALLY cheap. I recently discovered that the Sancor memory sticks that I love actually have a lot of SOFTWARE on them, which only works under windows, AND if you have a password set on the device, then Ubuntu wont even read it.

I had to go into synaptic manager and search on usb for some installs. Again, it was trial and error, and I dont know what finally made it work, but finally, Ubuntu recognized the memory stick.

TODAY, I had to meet my step-son near at Borders Book Store next to Penn Station. This was lucky for me, because while I waited for him, I browsed the computer book section on the second floor. I found a $9 small Linux handbook reference of commands by Daniel J. Barrett (O Reilly publishers) so I got that to practice all the hundreds of Linux commands that I dont know but need to know.

I browse various books on Ubuntu and Mysql.

I found the key thing I needed to know for my next project, to install LAMP (Linux Apache MySQL PhP) on my new Ubuntu desktop.

All one needs to do is enter TERMINAL, and key in

sudo tasksel

(you will be prompted for your system password next)

A task selection window will pop up with many packages available for install, one of which is LAMP. Now here is a mystery that took me an hour to solve. You can arrow down to highlight LAMP, but you dont have a clue in the world as to how to CHECK it for install. Google revealed the secret: YOU SIMPLY PRESS THE SPACE BAR AND IT IS MARKED CHECKED FOR INSTALL. Then you press ENTER and the install proceeds, Apache, MySQL and PhP. You will be prompted for the MySQL admin password.

Next I wanted to install phpmyadmin to administrate mysql, creating databases, tables, etc. I went to SYSTEM-> Synaptic Manager and searched on phpmyadmin. I think there is only one. BUT HERE IS A SECRET. Once your LAMP install finishes, then power down and boot back up; otherwise, certain files will remain locked by processes and the phpmyadmin install will fail.

Once phpmyadmin installs (and you will again be prompted for that pesky password), then you can open firefox and key in http://localhost/phpmyadmin

You will be PROMPTED FOR A USER NAME AND PASSWORD. This is tricky and confusing. You have to key in the user name “root” without quotes, and then give the password that you have been using all along throughout this. Now you are in phpmyadmin, and you can go to Privileges, and create a new user and give him all possible privileges.

Then, I found a $50 book, also by O’Reilly, entitled
“Head First – PHP & MySQL”. THIS book looks like the perfect way to teach myself how to develop php mysql applications which will have proper security (which is a very complex topic).

I didnt purchase that book tonight, because I wanted to come home and see first if I could successfully install LAMP and phpmyadmin, which I just now finished.

The Head First book gave me links to try the book on line free for 45 days. Money is kind of tight, so I decided to see how far I can go without any additional purchases, but if I get things working, I will buy the book one day. It is interesting that O’Reilly also offers a link to an on line university which can grant degrees in computer science.

I signed up at Oreilly for a trial access of the electronic version of the above-mentioned book.

Here is something I tried which crashed my Ubuntu. I wanted to copy the introduction to the book, from the OReilly site, and PASTE it into an Open Office Document. The first time Open Office died, and the file was shown as requiring recovery. I did the recovery, opened it again with Open Office Document, and then the whole Ubuntu system crashed. I rebooted, and had to go through a long complicated reconstruct procedure. I thought perhaps I would have to install everything from scratch, but fortunately, Ubuntu repaired itself. Moral to story is paste into GEDIT and save, which I guess eliminates whatever hidden characters are in the webpage which cause Open Office to crash the system.

There, I found a link to download all the source code from the book.

I downloaded the zipped file of all the source code.

Next, I went to the source code for chapter 1. They have a beginning version (which I guess you make changes to, and then a final version).

I tried to copy and paste report.html to var/www which is where Apache wants to find pages loaded from local host. I was not allowed to paste because I do not have superuser privileges. So, I went to terminal and typed SUDO GEDIT, which gets me into gedit with super powers, so I can now navigate to the unzipped code in my DOCUMENTS in a special folder I created, open report.html, then do a save as to var/www.

THIS WORKED, because now, when I open Firefox and key in localhost/report , it runs the Chapter 1 example webpage.

FOR MY NEXT TRICK, I must figure out how to copy a chapter 1 tutorial image of a dog (fang.jpg) from the location where it unzipped (in a folder in my Documents) and copy it into var/www where I do not have Admin privileges. SO, I open my OReilly handbook of Linux commands and find the CP command. I open a TERMINAL session and key in SUDO CP which I know will executed it with super admin privileges, but NOW I do not have a clue as to what the PATH names are for the file source and destination.

I am permitted to copy fang.jpg from the unzipped file into DOCUMENTS, just to simplify things.

Using PLACES -> COMPUTER, which brings up the FILE BROWSER, I first navigate to home/Documents and I RIGHT CLICK on the fang.jpg image, and click on PROPERTIES which will SHOW ME that the path is
/home/bryan/Documents/fang.jpg (I use bryan as my user name, but that is my step-son’s name). Next I do the same right click trick on any file which is already in var/www such as report.html, and I discover THAT path, which tells me that the command I should issue in TERMINAL is

sudo cp /home/bryan/Documents/fang.jpg var/www/fang.jpg

BUT IT HANGS… NOTHING HAPPENS.

Then I realize that I should close my other applications, because they are somehow LOCKING UP something that the CP command needs. Sure enough, once I close a bunch of applications, the SUDO CP command asks me for the PASSWORD and then copies fang.jpg to var/www

I can now bring up the image by opening Firefox and typing

localhost/fang.jpg

into the browser address field.

NOW that fang.jpg is in var/www, if I once again open Firefox and type
localhost/report.html

the exercise 1 page loads and also shows the picture of the little dog fang.jpg

I still need to copy report.php and style.css from the place where they unzipped to var/www. Since I can launch gedit with sudo and have superadmin powers, I may open them in that fashion and do a save as.

I ran the finished example, hoping that it would actually send me an email.

I realized that I must examine my php.ini and somehow reconfigure it. I went to some pains to locate that file, but did not post notes as I went, and now I must reconstruct what I did. I still have not succeeded in getting the app to actually send an email through php. But I feel it is more essential for me to move on to other lessons in the HEAD FIRST book.

PHPmyadmin is the most widely used tool administer a MySQL database. But the major problem with this

PHPmyadmin is the most widely used tool administer a MySQL database. But the major problem with this web based tool is its inablity to load big Databases. How many times we have had to import a big database and get timed out. On the look out for an alternative to PHPmyadmin,i tried using MySQL GUI tools. Its been nearly 6 months i have been using this to backup and restore my MySQL databases.

You can download the MySQL GUI from http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/gui-tools/5.0.html

Install the application and you can find the gui tools under start->Programs ->MySQL

You can use this software to administer the DB, Query the DB and also for migrating the DB.

We will discuss in this article on how to take a Backup and restore and Database of MYSQL using this MySQL gui tools.

Go to start->programs->MySQL->MySQLAdministrator

By Clicking on the button next to StoredConnection You can store details of multiple connections so you dont have to remember the username and server details. This is particularly useful if you are handling multiple Databases. You give a name in Connection and it saves the login details so next time you want to access the DB you can choose the the name from the storedConnection.

HostName: This is your DB Ipaddress or servername, if you are using local machine, you can give it as localhost.

Username : Enter the database username

Password : Enter the password of database.

Schema : Enter the Database name

click on apply and you are ready to login to the DB

Click on OK button.

This is the screen you get after clicking the OK button.

This is where we can take backup and restore a MySQL DB. For taking a backup just click on Backup and then click on new project. Enter a name for the project and you can see that the Databases which are available for the username which we logged in is listed under schemata.

Select the database you want to take a backup and click on the right arrow to load the tables. This may take a few seconds or run upto a minute depending upon your internet connection and size o database. If you are using localhost this would load in few seconds.

By default all the tables are selected, you can choose to unselect individual tables or all the tables by clicking on the tick mark on the left of the database name in the backup content window or by unselecting the tick mark before the individual tables.

One can further configure the backup by going to advanced option tab.

Click on execute Backup button to start your backup process. This will get an file dialog box. Choose where you want to save the file. It would save the file with the name of the project and datetime appended to it. This again could take a few minutes depending on the database size and the connection speed.

Now you have the backup ready in your hard drive. We will discuss in the next article on how to restore the database.

Please write in your comments and suggestions.

Asalam-o-alikum

It is obvious when ever we install xampp or wamp they just install mysql as a config authentication. Which is somehow a security threat while your server is exposed to internet.

To override these settings of phpmyadmin in xampp follow these steps.

Find the privileges link on the home page of your localhost phpmyadmin.

Change the password for the root user by changing the privileges of the root user.

Now find the following file x:\\xampp\phpmyadmin.config.inc.php

In config.inc.php find following variable  $cfg['Servers'][$i]['auth_type'] = ‘config’;

Change the config to cookie.

now find $cfg['blowfish_secret'] = ‘xampp’;

and fill in/ change a blowfish secret what ever you like as the cookie will save by this name.

don’t forget to clear the user name and password variable in config.ini.php

$cfg['Servers'][$i]['user'] = ”;

$cfg['Servers'][$i]['password'] = ”;

This is it now just login to xampp it will prompt you to enter password.

Be warned: In this tutorial we’re going to be editing your joomla database. So make backup when we tell you to – and preferably also when we don’t tell you to. Following this guide is, as always, on your personal risk. Some knowledge of how to use phpmyadmin is a necessity to follow this guide.

If, for some reason, you ever feel the need to “copy” a module from one joomla site to the other, this guide will explain you how to get it done. As for most of these guides, these were written because of our personal experiences. In this case, I was adding some modules to our Dutch gaming site Toretto.be while checking something at the site of my company. By accident, I deleted a module, and I had to find out how to retrieve that – rather important – module. If you’re in that same spot, or for some other reason need to copy a module, here’s how it’s done.

The copying part

1. At the “original site”, find the “modules” folder. (note: in our articles, when we tell you to go to this or that folder, we assume that you know that you might have to FTP to that folder.)

2. Find the folder of the module you need to copy, and download it / copy it.

3. Using phpmyadmin, go to your joomla database. Navigate to your jos_modules table and export the data. (note: if, for some reason, you didn’t accept the default database install of joomla, find the whateverthehellyouusedasapreset_modules instead).

4. Paste the export in notepad, and find the line about your module. Copy EVERYTHING until the next line starts. These lines start with (some number, some info, some info…)

The pasting part

5. Upload / copy the folder you just copied / downloaded to the “modules” folder of the target site.

6. Go to phpmyadmin for that site, and go to the Joomla Database.

7. Find the jos_modules table. Create a “back-up” of this site, by going to “actions”. Rename the table there. (Note: this will, of course, make all your module data temporarily unavailable. Don’t say I didn’t warn you)
8. Yet again, make an export of this table; paste in notepad. I’m sure there’s other ways to do it, but I couldn’t add the single line with SQL commands due to some errors.

9. Paste the line you copied in step 4. Pay attention to the ”ID" of the line; you might have to change it to something not already used by a module.

10. Copy everything, and go to phpmyadmin again. Import the data using the SQL method.

Congratulations, you’ve just copied your Joomla module!

PREREQUISITES Development Environment: MAMP Operating System: Mac Snow Leopard (10.6) Web server: Ap

PREREQUISITES

Development Environment:
MAMP
Operating System: Mac Snow Leopard (10.6)
Web server: Apache Apache/2.0.63
Database Server: MySQL: 5.1.37
Language: PHP Version 5.2.11

Authoring Software:
Dreamweaver CS4
TextWrangler 3.0
MySQL Workbench 5.1.18
SequelPro 0.96

Other Software:
Cyberduck FTP 3.3b4

Web Host
A web hosting package that includes a Linux Web Server with a MAMP-like setup (PHP SERVER, MySQL SERVER, and phpMyAdmin installed): I use 1and1.com to get a domain name and host my website. The package I got is “LINUX” home package. With higher priced packages, such as “BUSINESS” package, you can have direct SSH access to databases.

Basic understanding of:
1. how to use FTP software
2. how to use dreamweaver or handcode HTML
3. the client/server model, and how dynamic pages like PHP work
4. how to create database schemas

PART ONE. SET UP YOUR LOCAL SITE AND SOFTWARE

1. Set up your local site folders
1.1. Go to your > home folder {“”your username”"} > Sites >
1.2. Create a subfolder here called “database” to store your working database schemas and working SQL scripts
1.3. Create a website subfolder named your website domain (example: if your site is called “mysite.com”, name it “mysite”)… This is where your PHP and HTML files will go.
1.4. Inside your website subfolder, create a subfolder called “_design” to store your design comps and assets.
1.5. Inside your website subfolder, create a subfolder called “_includes” to store your common code snippets (like website headers, footers, etc)
1.6. Inside your website subfolder, create a subfolder called “graphics” to store website graphics, icons, etc
1.7. Inside your website subfolder, create a subfolder called “content” to store content that will be referenced in your database, such as images, etc.

2. Get Dreamweaver and TextWrangler to write your HTML and PHP files, and any Dreamweaver PHP Extensions (Tom Muck has good ones)

3. Download and Install MAMP (Mac, Apache, MySQL, PHP) to test serve your webpages locally
3.1. Make sure Apache and MySQL are not running on your Mac (go to System preferences and turn off Web Sharing and MySQL Server)
3.2. Run the installer package (DMG file) and copy the application to your Applications folder… It will create a folder there called MAMP
3.3. Drag the MAMP app icon to your OS X Dock to easily get to it later
3.4. Run MAMP whenever you need to test your PHP files from dreamweaver or a webbrowser
3.5. On the MAMP launch screen, you should see green lights for Apache and MySQL… this means both are running.
3.6. Click on Ports tab, then “Set to default Apache and MySQL ports” … this sets Apache Port to 80 and MySQL port to 3306
3.7. Click on Apache tab, then set your document root to /Users/{“yourusername”}/Sites
3.7. Save your changes and go back to launch screen by pressing OK, then press “Open Start Page”… If your install was done properly, you’ll get a “WELCOME TO MAMP” page on your web browser

4. Download and Install MySQL Workbench to build a database schema

5. Download and Install Sequel Pro to easily write rows into the database

PART TWO. SET UP YOUR LOCAL DATABASE

1. Build a database schema that defines the tables in your database and the relationships between tables
1.1. Open MySQL Workbench App
1.2. File > New will create a new MySQL Model
1.3. Double click on the physical schema and rename it to something appropriate, like “mysite”
1.4. Click Add Diagram to build your tables and relationships
1.5. Define Tables by clicking on the table icon from the left toolbar, then clicking anywhere on your EER Diagram canvas
1.6. Double click your new table, and change the name
1.7. Define Columns by double clicking on the table in the canvas, then go to your columns tab
1.8. Your first column needs to be a primary key for the table, usually called “something_id”, with datatype INT, and PK (primary key) and NN (not null) checked
1.9. When you are done creating the tables on the canvas, define your relationships by clicking on one of the lines from the left toolbar (1:n, for example), click on the tables to create the links
1.10. Optionally, create some sample records using the “INSERTS” tab, then open the editor
1.11. Save your work using > File > Save >
1.12. Create an SQL script that will build the database schema on your MySQL server by using > File > Export > Forward Engineer SQL Create Script
1.13. Be sure to check the option to Generate INSERT statements if you did so in step 1.10, then Click Next
1.14. Make sure “Export MySQL Table Objects” is checked, then press Continue and FINISH on the last screen.

2. Create a database on your local MySQL Server using phpMyAdmin
2.1. Make sure MAMP is running and that your Apache and MySQL servers are running (2 green lights on the MAMP launch screen)
2.2. Click on “Open Start Page” on the MAMP launch screen.
2.3. Launch phpMyAdmin by clicking on the “phpMyAdmin” tab at the top
2.4. See List of Databases
2.5. Create new database by giving it a name, usually the website name {“mysite”}
2.6. Click on Import Tab
2.7. Under “File to Import”, Click on Browse, and find the SQL file that defines your MySQL database schema (MySQL Workbench created this from step 1.14)
2.8. Click on Go … If the operation is successful, phpMyAdmin will tell you, and you will see your database name on the left nave.

3. Secure your MySQL database
3.1. Click on your database name on the left nav
3.2. Click on Privileges Tab
3.3. Click on Add New User
3.4. Create a username, usually the same as the website name (example: mysite)
3.5. Host = (Local); localhost
3.6. Create a password
3.7. Check the box next to “Grant all privileges on database {“database name (aka “mysite”)”}
3.8. For global privileges, Check All, then press Go
3.9. In order to unlock your database (to allow other programs to access and write to it), you need to exit out of your database in phpMyAdmin by clicking on the home button (where the list of databases appears).

4. Add content to your database using SequelPro
4.1. Create a new connection to your mySQL database on the opening screen…
4.12. Set your default values and allow empty fields by checking “Allow Null” here too.
4.13. Click on the “CONTENT” tab next to “STRUCTURE” then press the “+” button along the bottom edge to add a new record
4.14. When you are done adding new records, press the “REFRESH” icon along the bottom to make sure everything is written to your local mySQL database
4.15. Go to > File > Export > MySQL Dump >
4.16. Make sure all items are being exported. Then save the SQL file to your harddrive, best if in the same location as the original SQL schema definition file you created in step 1.14
4.16. quit SequelPro when you’re finished

5. Verify your data is correct by using phpMyAdmin
5.1. Go to the MAMP launch screen, click “Open Start Page”, then click on the “phpMyAdmin” tab at the top.
5.2. You should see a list of your databases on the left. Click one, then you’ll see the tables in the database.
5.3. Next to each table, there is a “BROWSE” icon… click it to see the contents of each table.

PART THREE. SET UP YOUR HOSTED DATABASE

1. Using FTP, create a folder on your webhost to store your website files

2. From your webhost, import the MySQL database command you created on your local machine
2.1. Log into your web control panel (example: admin.1and1.com)
2.2. Click on > WEBSPACE ACCESS > MySQL Administration >
2.3. Click on New Database and enter the required fields. Usually, cheap hosting packages will have a database name, username, and host names predefined.
2.4. Copy this information somewhere… You’ll need it later when you edit your database connection file for production in PART FIVE.
2.5. In your list of databases, select the option for phpMyAdmin to access the database… this will open a new window for remote phpMyAdmin
2.6. On the left side is a list of your databases. Again, this will probably not be the same name as your local database. Click on a database, then the SQL tab if the IMPORT tab is not available.
2.7. Click “BROWSE” to import the SQL file you created in PART TWO, step 4.16 that contains your database schema and table content. Then Press GO to have the remote server import your SQL schema and content.
However, at this moment, it does not meet the demand of everyone. So there was a challenge and a demand for change.

I studied the market for existing solutions. Not being satisfied (because if I was happy the issue was already resolved), so I decided to create this software. Because, in my opinion, we must phase out barriers to trade. (ref Treaty establishing the European Community, 1957)

The software “Give1Get2″ is designed to build an alternative trading market to existing financial markets. The software specialised in online fund raising. It facilitates free trade in the international economy. This software was created to meet the financing needs of economic agents in Europe and globally in order to finance, among other things, research, education and innovation.

Principles & Qualities:

– Freedom, Citizenship, Responsibility, Equality, Solidarity,
– Open, rule based, predictable, nondiscriminatory

Objective:

Make a pilot project (functional, no set-up fees, free to use, legal, available (7/7j, 24/24h) and based on a win-win strategy) for an international trading platform from a PSP payment API (Moneybookers) and the FreePay Trading System (FTS) to help raise account balance of participants. (+1 Euro each time)

Directed: The main objective has been achieved.

The software has been tested in real conditions with personal accounts for the 3 possible cases of purchase (less, equal and higher) and in each case, it worked perfectly.

Simple example: when 1 Euro was sent, are received 2 Euros (factor 2: 1 * 2 = 2). The motto “Give 1. Get 2.” was chosen in this way. The starting amount is chosen by the user and may use the system as often as he wants. Example: 1234 Euros sent -> 2468 Euros received.

Target:

Target User: This software is being implemented, primarily targeting users of the PSP used speaking French or English and have minimal skills in finance (Moneybookers saves 9 million customers, according to Moneybookers). The goal is not to limit it to this category but can reach the largest number of users.

Target Developer: Those targeted for downloading and installing the software are programmers (preferably web developer) and / or companies wishing to establish a trading platform.

The platform does not take a percentage of the funds it raises. In this sense, an organization that would use it could be a non-profitable organization.

The strategy for doing business

There are 3 possible strategies for 2 people: lose, no deal or win. (representing 9 combinations in total)

Case study: I do not want to lose money (destruction of money) I do not want to lose money for someone wins. (theft of money) I want to change. I do not make money for someone to lose. (theft of money) I do not want to make money alone. (counterfeit) I want to make money and someone else wins, too.

The only solution that seems feasible is: the win-win strategy.

Business Model of an online trading platform with a Win-Win Strategy:

5 parts: Provider, Consumer, Competitor, Partner and Self.

Provider:
- Payment Services Providers (PSP) have a business model that works by commissions (fixed and variable) on the transactions of their customers (about 2%). To increase their profits, they want to increase their volume of transactions and that customers send the most money.
- Their main partners are the merchants and trading platform that allows them to increase their volume of transactions and amounts over the users who use them. This is done by increasing the number of customers that is proportional to the access of their information systems: the API (Application Programming Interface) that allows anyone to automate payments.
- Their suppliers are one or more banks. The financial messages are handled electronically by the bank. The PSP received confirmation via an API.

Consumer:
- The internet users want to meet their needs. The needs of humanity are recurrent (must be met every day). This need is either a product or service, or money. The products are among the online marketplaces (e-commerce). The easy money is on the trading platform.
- To send money, the user needs a PSP. PSP and asked to have a bank account to fulfill its electronic wallet. Compared to the PSP, the user earns more per transaction if the gain is at its default value (maximum).

Competitor, Partner and Self:
- The business model of the trading platform is either the same as the PSP (for transactions), or an entrance fee or monthly fee or premium sponsorships (link id) or is free. (The money is earned in the same way as users.)
- Providers of trading platforms are the PSP with their API. (the logo is highlighted)
- The users use a service that allows them to move money. The strategy of moving money is defined either by the trading platform or by users themselves. (depends on the internal politics of the trading platform)
- The trading platform is a software layer above the PSP. The design and evolution of the computer product can be partially outsourced to one or more persons caring for an open source trading platform that would reduce costs and development time.

Revenues

The link to the sponsorship program is here: http://www.moneybookers.com/app/referral.pl

There are over 9 million customers who use Moneybookers (Moneybookers depending). The target population is mainly covered that already included. The affiliate can not take commissions on those already listed. (he did not himself sponsored, implied)

For people who are not registered yet, they can apply directly to the url http://moneybookers.com/: in this case, the partner does not take commission.

Either option, register with the affiliate link (the URL provided in a footnote on the script) in this case, the affiliate will receive commissions on what wins the PSP (up to 30 % and limited to 100 Euros maximum) This is not an additional cost (30-70 division). It is therefore completely transparent to the user.

This incentive, I have put in place to increase the number of my partners on this project. I thought it was legitimate in order to pay the fixed costs (domain name) and variable operating costs (bandwidth, database) of each partner sites.

In addition, each user also has the ability to sponsor others in making requests for payments. I think it’s a fairness.

Interoperability: How do I know if the API electronic purse of a financial institution is compatible with FSX to FreePay?

Financial Institution:

1. It must be able to create an account.

2. Supply: The user can supply his account with different means of payment (check, credit card, bank transfer etc.) and remove.

3. It must have a minimum of funds in its account (balance at least 1 euro). (must also take into account the costs of financial institution)

Optional (but strongly recommended): Approval Financial: The financial institution must be approved by at least one regulator.

Separation of tests and the real: The customer transfers between normal and test client are prohibited.

On the FSX:

1. It must be able to pass an order on the FSX and get on the payment platform. (POST or GET)

2. B2B, B2C, C2B & C2C: Let the payment works in 2 directions (merchant-seller while being accessible client-customer, merchant-customer and customer-merchant), briefly allow P2P. The right of withdrawal depends on the status of persons making the transactions and all, it is defined on the site of PSP.

2a. (optional: but it’s better to do) should be able to enable process automation. (XML)

3. XML: It is necessary that the source site (merchant / FSX) to obtain a trace of the transaction from the payment platform. (xml sent and saved in the database tables in sql)

Existing: What is Moneybookers?

- Moneybookers is a payment service secure online that lets you send and receive money instantly from an e-mail. Opening an account is free, and loading and withdrawal of money is through a credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Diners, American Express, JCB, Delta / Visa Debit and Visa Electron) or by bank transfer.

- Moneybookers is translated into 12 different languages. (English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Modern Greek, Romanian, Russian, Turkish, Chinese, Czech)

- Transaction costs are low and the deals can be found in the account history at any time.

- Moneybookers is an issuer of electronic money that allows the merchant (or merchant company) to accept online payments from customers worldwide with no installation fees or monthly fees. (in English: Payment Service Provider)

Why a relationship with a PSP:

The division of roles: The software can be seen as a plugin that interacts with the main software (financial institution) to bring him a new feature. The software is an open system that sends information to the internal (history) and outside (order).
- The financial institution converts capital into e-money, make payments and make the conversion of checks.
- The software can place orders for payment, exchanging payment orders and can make claims.

Dependence: The software is towards simplicity as compared to the previous version (FreePay), he subtracted the processes needed to manage money. This software saves the cost of initial capital (1 million Euros) for the creation of a financial institution issuing electronic money (in: e-money issuer) within the European Union. (ref: Article 4 paragraph 1 of Directive 2000 46 EC).

Independence: Each organization that sets up the software Give1Get2 is autonomous from other organizations. It is dependent only financial institution which helps to make payments (1 to many relationship).

What is “Give1Get2?

The trading system is based on a win-win. The trading platform is a place of confrontation in the supply of financial securities and the demand for money under the idea of laissez-faire economics. There are no goods exchanged on the system. It is a zero sum game in terms of the payment platform but not the trading system (1 euro securitized token issued for the initiation, exchange +1 +1 for each party to each transaction). It’s a virtuous circle. There is no entrance fee. It is a system of person to person (P2P) which further allows users to place trades on a payment platform. This was designed so that there is no risk of inverse proportionality. Since there is no order of sale, it may not be a stock market crash. All system users can get rich, but not at the same time. The user can then become, as it makes a trader. (en: Market Operator)

The gain is also adjustable (0 to 100% Sample: 25 euros become real to 100% -> 50 euros securitized). This allows the user to speculate whether or not to do so. This allows the user to transform its capital and more capital represented by shares. (And then convert its shares capital by the sale, eg 50 euros securitized -> 50 euro real). Finally: EUR 25 real -> 50 euro real. This was to be demonstrated.

Economic Explanation: The software is not intended to create inflation.

From what I know, there are two types of inflation:

– Inflation of prices: Higher prices for goods and services during a period of time. (source: Wikipedia) The income increases more slowly as rising commodity prices. → decrease in purchasing power. What is problematic. But what has Give1Get2 is to increase the income of players in the system, thereby increasing purchasing power. There are no services for sale on the platform and use is free. The “products” are selling financial claims payments. The purchase price is determined by the buyers themselves. If they decide to buy more expensive it is to earn more.

– Inflation of the money: When money suffers a global money creation. Money in circulation increases via interest rates. However, the software Give1Get2 not intended to increase the money supply or decrease it. There is no interest rate not in this system. For only the responsibility of banks.

The software allows the movement of money between players.

Financial Explanation:

Consider this example: Bob wants to send 10 cents to EUR Alice via Moneybookers.

Alice to a balance of EUR 10.82. Bob has a balance of EUR 78.19. Bob sending 10 cents to Alice. The balance of Bob becomes 78.09 EUR. The balance goes to Alice 10.92 EUR. This is without counting the cost variables (0.01) and fixed costs (0.29). Ultimately, the balance of Alice is EUR 10.62 at the end of the operation.

We note that the gain (10 cents) is less than the loss (30 cents). Bob was negatively charged (-0.10 EUR, which is normal). Alice was also negatively charged (total EUR -0.20). Thus a lose-lose situation.

For a win-lose, we can establish a minimum quota of money to be set in automatic settings for all purchases through the API. Test: Bob (balance: EUR 78.09), after mature reflection, wants to send Alice to 3 euros (balance: EUR 8.52) via Moneybookers. Bob now has a balance of EUR 75.09. Alice has a balance of approximately EUR 11.12 (8.52 +3.00 -0.10 -0.29).

The trading process works as follows: The seller exchange goods cons money from the buyer. The seller of the property does that against a sum greater than what it cost him at first with these suppliers.

Similarly, when that person A makes a claim and receives money from a person B. This acts as a compensatory mechanism that allows B in turn place a claim for a price equal to or greater than what it cost him to his predecessor.

Traditionally, it is a relationship with 2 people only. The problem if one of the 2 party may pay or reimburse. (Relationship 1 to 1) With this software alternative market, there are multiple suppliers and multiple plaintiffs. (Relation of many to many) So, this reduces the risk (1 to many relationship in 2 directions) and there are more opportunities for success.

As I demonstrate, we can turn a win-lose strategy into a win-win strategy. That’s what we do now.

As a developer, I always look for a way to produce more at lower cost. My motivation is based on the fact that the software works and it is useful. While I agree that the type of communication is more efficient face to face, I acknowledge that I am not always available and so I put up with written documentation. Under a policy of transparency, I also put my resume attached in order to learn who wants my identity and my professional skills (which leaves several ways to contact me). His reading is optional.

Also, I’m open to suggestions for improving the software. If there are bugs, so I can correct them, I must have accurate knowledge. From my experience, to improve a system requires that users can contact the author for improvement of the platform is through positive feedback loops at the initiative of users. This will return to the basic architecture of the next version (which will contain the existing + corrections).

INSTALACION CAKEPHP modo simple

LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so

AllowOverride All a partir de la linea

<Directory “C:/xampp/htdocs”>

Y reiniciar el servidor apache.

-        Decargar CakePHP

Configure::write(’Security.salt’, ‘DYhG93b0qyJfIxfs2guVoUubWwvniR2G0FgaC9mi’);

Configure::write(’Security.salt’, ‘aks23DSDSjjASSm15DddaweoislopD2sD2Gd2sAsI’);

var $default = array(‘driver’ => ‘mysql’,‘persistent’ => false,‘host’ => ‘localhost’,

‘login’ => ‘root’, //El usuario que acabamos de crear, en este ejemplo root

‘password’ => ‘123456′, //el password asignado al usuario root

‘database’ => ‘miprimerpastel’, //la base que acabamos de crear

‘prefix’ => ”,

);

INSTALACION CAKEPHP modo consola

#LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so

<Directory “C:/xampp/htdocs”>

Y reiniciar el servidor apache.

-        Decargar CakePHP

C:\xampp\cakephp\cake\console\

C:\xampp\php\

C:\xampp\htdocs>cake bake nombre_app

Configure::write(’Security.salt’, ‘DYhG93b0qyJfIxfs2guVoUubWwvniR2G0FgaC9mi’);

Configure::write(’Security.salt’, ‘aks23DSDSjjASSm15DddaweoislopD2sD2Gd2sAsI’);

Not having a wonderful time with Drupal. Dug a great hole, leapt into it, with great travail and the aid of some last-semester techno-friends, climbed back out. I have a way with problems beyond my current ability to solve, and Drupal offered a number of open doors straight to them. At one point I declared “I’M A PROGRAMMER NOT A WEB DESIGNER” and on some simpleheaded level this may be true but what I meant was, stop making my crazy with both the websense and the programmersense. I found that Drupal required both sensibilities which is, I believe, why I went briefly to crazy world. Trying to figure out if the problem at hand, say, needing to create the node for an image before attaching it to my mosaic node, was superficial or complex took a lot of system resources. Or which content was spoken of as external-linkable. Or how the entirety of views_slideshow works. The good news is that I sure have the hang of downloading, unpacking, and installing the modules. I figure any Linux experience is good Linux experience. And I’m grateful for the problems, only because they seem fixed now, and before that because I had to rifle around for tools to help me out. Though I was warned it wouldn’t help, I found phpMyAdmin my best friend sorting out users relative to roles, and ESPECIALLY in locating, by lost-user-ID-number, some dead and orphaned content that was haunting my site.

However. I loved being introduced to Drupal and would love to play more, with guidance. I think it’s an entirely appropriate setting for my collection on mosaics and is value-added relative to any and all websites I have attempted in the past. It could actually encourage me to build the site, to seek content, to enhance content, to organize content, in a way that Dreamweaver does not. It is collection-aware, and it’s the first software I’ve experienced of its kind. I’d like to find out what Drupal regulars feel is the “average” learning curve, or whether Drupal “drop-ins”, infrequent users or one-time-project users, can quantify their learning curve.

Difficult and praiseworthy both is Drupal, but not huge degrees of difference from this setting, WordPress. I still have learning to do here, could potentially mount at least an exhib of mosaics here, with some web content, some text…

Geçtiğimiz aylar itibari ile sitem uçmuştu. Hostla alakalı bir şeyler ayrıntı önemli değil.

WordPress’in eklentisi ile haftalık düzenli sql veritabanı yedeği mail adresime gelmekte idi. Easyphp kur, üstüne WordPress’i ayarla, phpmyAdmin zamazingosu ile sql’i yükle yazıları kurtar” dedi.

// We can not read all at once, otherwise we can run out of memory

$memory_limit = trim(@ini_get(‘memory_limit’));

// 2 MB as default

if (empty($memory_limit)) {

$memory_limit = 4 * 1024 * 1024;

}

// In case no memory limit we work on 10MB chunks

if ($memory_limit == -1) {

$memory_limit = 10 * 1024 * 1024;

}

$memory_limit = trim(@ini_get(‘memory_limit’)); (satır 197, farklı olduğunu pek sanmıyorum)

// 2 MB as default

if (empty($memory_limit)) {

$memory_limit = 2* 1024 * 1024;

}

// In case no memory limit we work on 10MB chunks

if ($memory_limit == -1) {

$memory_limit = 10 * 1024 * 1024;

}

Hayat çok güzel be böyle olunca…
