Great explanation of the June 1, 2008 crop circle and how it represents Pi.  Just amazing

It took a bit longer than I wanted but I have updated cafepress with my calendars.  There are 4 calendars to choose from that cover two different “designs”.  The first design covers my 12 favoriter mathtoons (one for each month).  There are 2 different sizes – Oversized (17 x 11) and Wall Calendar (11 x 8.5).  The second design covers the 12 newest mathtoons in case you purchased the previous calendar.  The same sizes apply – Oversized and Wall Calendar.

I really want to get the word out on these calendars as I have received incredibly positive feedback from those who have purchased in the past.  If you know of anyone who would enjoy the math humor, please pass along.  Thanks!

Sometimes I do wonder how they determine who gets a loan or not.  I wish I could have thought of a way to represent “subprime”.  That would have been a bit more poignant

Loan Application

Growing up, I can remember always seeing John 3:16 signs at sporting events – particularly football games.  I also remembered a guy with crazy rainbow hair who was always holding the signs.  That was the inspiration for this drawing.

After the drawing was complete, I started doing some research on this guy.  It turns out his name is Rollen Stewart and his story is not a happy one.  If interested in learning more, check out the video or his wikipedia page. 

I have been trying to figure out a good name for my passion.  Math lover is OK.  Geek is a bit overplayed.  Today I finally realized what I am.  I am a mathhugger.  So I went out and bought the domain name.  No idea what I am going to do with it.  But I feel better now that I have a “title”.  Mathhuggers of the world unite

I am working on completing my shop at cafepress <a href=”http://www.cafepress.com/NotSoHumblePi“>.  There will be one with all the new drawings and then one that is a compilation of my favorite drawings.  The calendar is a great way to showcase 12 drawings.  I hope to have this done by Monday, November 9.

I really like how this turned out.  Cartoon Bob does all the illustrations and really did a good job with this treasure map.  If only pirates studied linear algebra!

Treasure Map

It took a little longer than I expected but I finally have most (still finishing 2 drawings) of my drawings out there on CafePress (http://cafepress.com/notsohumblepi).  I have really enjoyed putting these drawings together.  And starting today I will be posting a new drawing every day for several days.  Please come back each day and see the new drawing.  They will posted here as well as in the Mathtoons tab.

Can’t wait till November 1 gets here.  I am busy working on finishing up the drawings, getting my cafepress.com shop done so folks can get greeting cards, postcards, calendars and t-shirts with these mathtoons.

I am thinking about putting these drawings on cafepress so folks can purchase as math gifts or teacher gifts.  Should I do it?

Lambang Pi pertama kali di gunakan oleh William Jones yang berkebangsaan Welsh pada tahun 1706, dan di populerkan oleh matematikawan berkebangsaan Swiss, Leonhard Euler, 1737. Itulah sekilas cerita lambang Pi dan keajaibannya, sehingga tak heran jika para Matematikawan selalu merayakannya.
